Prelude:

September 24 2011, 10:31 AM Pacific Standard Time: Various people fall into comatose along the coastlines of Australia, the United States, the People's Republic of China, and the United Kingdom.

2:15 PM: Coastal countries in South America report the same issue.

4:38 PM: The outbreak hits the coasts of the African continent. The disease is designated ASN9.

5:10 PM: ASN9 spreads partially to populations further inland.

6:47 PM: The nations along the Mediterranean Sea experience the outbreak.

9:25 PM: The ASN9 pandemic reaches the other east Asian countries.

September 25 2011: Some of the comatose patients die. The other patients regain conciousness and are agressively hostile to anyone not infected. ASN9 when spread through bodily fluid is contagious and reaches it's full aggresion effect in a matter of seconds.

Approximately 1:00 PM: Many police forces attempt to control the violence.

Approximately 3:00 PM: The affected nations have called in their militaries for support. Checkpoints are made in and around major cities.

Approximately 6:00 PM: ASN9 rapidly infects more populations through contact with infected victims or from the airborne strain. Larger areas are quarantined.

October 2011: The United States National Guard is becoming outnumbered. Those living near quarantined zones leave to FEMA outposts or other cities. The Australian military takes civilians to secure rural areas.

November 2011: Many Europeans begin a mass evacuation to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. A small portion of militaries in Europe travel with the civilians. Though already affected, Ireland,Japan and South Korea close off their shores.

February 2012: The rest of Asia is slowly falling into chaos from riots, looting, and hostile ASN9 victims. Civilians flee to colder regions. The global quarantine efforts weaken.

May 2012: The world looses contact with the majority of underdeveloped nations. The ASN9 virus thrives around the world by spreading across the ocean.

February 2013: Quarantine efforts are abandoned. The populations of developed countries are left under marshal law. South America suffers from a similar situation as Asia.

March 2014: Most radio and television transmitions have gone off the air. The Internet becomes the main source of information.

November 2014: Electric grids shut down. Their is no longer contact with governments or the militaries.

October 2015: Regular society has stopped.

The biggest question today is why did this happen? Why is it that we go from nothing but a sub-culture, a miniscule fraction of the earth's population, to becoming the majority of the human race? The news and government came to the conclusion that the disease spreading across the world was intentionaly crafted to kill humanity. Some scientists said it came from the ocean as it was the coastlines that were all hit first and it became airborne after leaving the water. But whether it was Jihad, a nation's new weapon, judgement day, or the wrath of nature, one thing remains absolute. Despite all of this death, despite that so many of us who remain once shared a common way, we have continued to act as the world before us has. I now have seen that pride fades when those you stood apart from are gone.

My name is Nick Holden aka Quantum Fox. When I had lived in North Carolina I evacuated with my family but eventually the disease took them away. I eventually found some more survivors and we headed towards the west coast. Some time after the pandemic we started the town of Maryship, the site of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. It was quickly becoming the hub of something stronger. A new nation. Or at least as close to a real nation as anything gets with the way that the world is now. We chose to call ourselves the Pacifica Alliance. With the weapons recovered from the fallen military or police and a variety of maintained vehicles we provided protection for some of the other settlements and kept the peace establishing trade, forms of law enforcement and democracy. There were others of course, who refused to unite under us. Fortunately we accepted their choices. For some reason we are not attacked by those people that had gone rabid from the virus. Still, we keep away from them. They have lost their sanity to a point where most of us thought it was just better not to interact with them. You know? Just to be on the safe side.

It's strange because when the pandemic was going on people used to say the world was coming to an end. But I saw for myself it hadn't. Or maybe we're just not there yet. Maybe those people are still right...
