You get a boost of confidence on your date from your ghost roommate.

You were going over your checklist again. It was good for your anxiety about this date tonight.

Smile. Laugh at his jokes. Smile. Don't fidget. Just keep your elbows on the table if you're nervous. Wait, is that rude? To put your elbows on the table while you're at a restaurant? That's totally rude. Okay, so maybe you should just-

"Sheesh, just go already." Your ghost roommate said, hovering behind you.

Oh yeah, you had a ghost roommate. Wisper. It was a whole thing.

"Maybe I should just call in sick." You said. "Tell him I'm not feeling well, and we'll just-"

"Noooooooo dude." Wisper whailed behind you. "Just go. It'll be great. You'll have fun." He promised.

"I actually am feeling kinda sick. I think I'll just go another-"

"Noooooooooooooo." He deadpanned. "No. You're feeling sick because you're nervous."

"Well, okay, yeah, but like. Ach, what do you think I should do?"

"Why are you so nervous?" Wisper asked, flying in a slow loop behind you like he did when he was bored.

"He's like, my actual crush, and he agreed to get dinner with me." You said, concisely. "And like. I kinda want it to... go somewhere. But I don't know if I'm ready for that, and I don't want him to think I-"

"Shhh." Wisper cut you off. "Sheesh, dude. Okay. Lotta pressure."

"So much." You said, deflating slightly.

"How about you let me go? I'm great with guys." Wisper asked.

"Har har."

"I'm serious." He said. "Let me take control of your body for the night. I've been on tons of dates, dude. I know what guys like."

"That's- that's-" You fumbled over your words. "No! There's no way that counts as a date, dude. Like, that wouldn't even be me!"

"Ugh. Fine." Wisper said.

It was time. He picked you up in his car, though he didn't say a whole lot to you during the drive. It only made you more nervous, sitting there, nobody talking, looking out the window as your thoughts raced. Why was nobody talking? He said hello, asked how you were, and now you were just... oh God this was awful.

You were parked and heading inside before you knew it. Your nerves were through the roof, and you didn't even notice when your date stumbled and bent over on his way in. He blinked a few times, and then smiled at you.

"Hey! Give me just a moment to go to the bathroom, alright?" He said. You nodded.

You waited anxiously at your table, but were surprised when he came back and sat casually across from you, still smiling.

The rest of the night went very differently than the beginning. It was as if, all of a sudden, he'd opened up, and wasn't willing to leave you in discomfort. Every time you felt your nerves coming back, he'd crack a joke, or compliment you, and it was... magical.

Too magical. Spiritual, even.

"...Wisper." You said.

Your date blinked.

"Wh-Who?"

He was such a bad liar.

"Wisper, I know it's you! I can't believe you!" You said, standing up abruptly.

"Wait, wait!" He said, in a hushed tone of voice. "C'mon, just- just let me explain." He said.

"He's still him. Just like how if I was in you, you'd still be you! I noticed he was as nervous as you were, and uhh, well... we sorta made a quick agreement. In the bathroom."

"An agreement?" You asked.

"I take away his nervousness for the night. And, uhh, in exchange... I get to date my crush."

You blinked. Then, you blushed. Then you opened your mouth to speak, and found yourself blushing too mush to actually get any words out, so you just chewed your nails.

"I- Y-You mean-" You stuttered. "You mean-"

"Just kiss me you dork." He said. They said? Whatever. You had a ghost to kiss.
