#1 of Hypnovember 2020

Hypnovember is here! The best month! The greatest month!

You were very warm. Steam and light filled the air around you, and you realized you were ankle deep in hot water, in some kind of bath house.

Your mind raced. How did you get here? You racked your scattered thoughts in an attempt to trace down what you were doing last - the last thing you could remember.

You were... in a tavern, right? Picking up bounties. Not bounties - this one was a monster hunt. Some serpent that was making people disappear.

That's right. You accepted it and went out into the desert to where it was allegedly seen last. You had to buy some weird clothing supposed to protect you from the sand.

Looking down, you realized that clothing was gone now. You were nude except for a thin, gold loincloth. Where was your armor? Your weapons?

The room around you yielded no answers. Marble columns submerged at the base in this warm pool of water rising with steam.

You... remember finding its lair. Not so much a lair as a palace. Simmering and ornate and beautiful in the middle of the desert.

There were people inside. Cleaning and shuffling around, their eyes empty. You couldn't get them to respond to you, so you figured you'd press on and kill the beast that had such a hold over them.

That's right. You found him. Some kind of naga, covered in jewellery and shiny gold scales. He was coiled over a throne, only looked mildly interested to see you invading his domain.

There weren't any guards. You remember that bothering you. You remember thinking "I should just turn around and leave."

But you didn't. What did you do?

You drew your sword, and approached, and then...

You- you drew your sword... Approached the naga, and then...

You couldn't remember. Your memory cuts just as he looked you in the... eyes...

"Slave." A voice called to you from behind. A familiar, powerful voice, that washed over you in a heavy wave and seemed to erase all the effort you'd made to remember what had happened.

You turned, to see the shining, shimmering form of your golden master, his coils slipping into the warm water of the bath you'd prepared for him.

"Yes, Master?" You heard yourself say, before he locked eyes with you, and your mind became glittering gold.
