== LOG #004 ==

We've been having more power shortages lately, which has prevented me from uploading this log for a while.

We ran into some... problems with a couple of the 'Protogens'.

To put it bluntly, we had a small rebellion on our hands. Two of them broke out of the main habitation area and managed to enter the crawl space beneath the maintenance areas. When they were having their 'adventure', they must have disrupted our connections to the main power grid, because ever since then our electricity supply has been very temperamental. I'm not an electrician, so my wording probably is wrong, but you get the idea.

We almost lost a few Protogens that were on life support machines, so that was not fun...

Personally, despite the complications that they caused, I almost felt happy that these two courageous Protogens escaped the system. It takes some real spirit and determination to do that kinda thing, yet alone in a governmental establishment with armed guards patrolling 24/7. I petitioned, once they were caught and put into detention cells, to further research their cases, to talk to them, to find out what was going on inside their heads. But in the end, my superiors always get the say on what happens. Unfortunately, they ended up terminating these two Protogens. In this case, this refers to murdering them.

I question the ethics of the company sometimes. Before we had the governmental pressure, the company seemed very ethical. It's a shame to see that change.

When I heard that the Protogens were due for termination, I did what I could to prevent it. But it was too late. By the time I got to the Detention Block, the unavoidable had already happened. As I opened the door to the Block, there was a small group of mechanics coming through with two trolleys. I held the door for them, and as they passed by in front of me, I realised that upon these trolleys were two crates, both of which were marked for incineration. Fearing the worst, I rushed into the building and found the cells they had once been detained in empty.

I felt a great sense of sadness at the loss of these two. I get the feeling that the other Protogens are acting more cold towards the staff they interact with, including myself. The termination of the two rebels will have left an irreparable scar on the trust that they have in my coworkers and I.

I will try to regain trust, but I have a feeling that my efforts will be futile.

Rest in peace, brave rebels.
