Eilidh returned to her herd, shifting effortlessly from her anthropomorphic form into her more comfortable feral form. Exchanging gentle nuzzles and shoulder bumps with her herd mates, Eilidh trembled and stayed as far from the Matriarch - her mother - as she could.

This didn't go unnoticed...

"Eilidh, present yourself before me!" Come the imperious voice of the Matriarch.

Pretending not to have heard, Eilidh snatched a few leaves off a branch and chewed them, acting unconcerned and ignorant.

A sudden shift in the wind betrayed Eilidh and her Matriarch's eyes widened as she lifted her head and scented the air.

"I wasn't asking..." Snapped the Matriarch.

Eilidh swallowed the lump in her throat, her ears slicing backwards before she dropped her head and meekly approached, submissive and respectful. Her mother glared at her, then when Eilidh shuddered as he mother began sniffing her from ears to tail and back again, before she snorted and frowned.

"What did you do - " Growled the Matriarch, "I smell it on you, it's not the rut, yet..."

Trying her hardest to not tremble, Eilidh merely flicked an ear and snorted. "Mother...Matriarch... you know we're not beholden to such primitive things as that. Our blood is hot, our passions hotter..."

Her ears flattening, the Matriarch glared balefully at her daughter.

"Spare me your incessant chatter - answer me!"

"I hunted a Stag!" Eilidh snapped, then shuddered and nervously stepped back a single pace.

"Stand!"

Eilidh froze, then hung her head, adopting the most submissive pose she could, sensing how dangerously close her Matriarch's true side was.

"A stag, out of rutting season..."

"You_alone, know _how to court and seduce them, Matriarch, I merely learned it from you. He... made a wonderful stew, as expected, he failed to live up to my expectations."

Giving her daughter another deep, intensive sniff over her body, the Matriarch's eyes narrowed.

"Yet I see no marks, nor his scent on you..."

With a visible tremor, Eilidh shuddered. "It was a few days ago, that I seduced him and..."

With a snort, the Matriarch tossed her proud, regal head before she glared at Eilidh "A likely story! You expect me to believe you seduced a feral stag, without him leaving so much as a single mark or trace of your consummation?"

Eilidh shivered and looked down at the ground, thinking for a moment. "It's true, he was young, a spiker - you know they're the easiest for us..."

"Hmm," Growled the Matriarch, her eyes narrowing behind her closing eyelids. "That's true, in so much as it can be - and you claimed you turned his carcass into a stew?"

"Yes, Matriarch," Eilidh nodded. "I did, you taught us to never waste anything. I used herbs and his carcass to sustain myself, he was...most delicious."

Glaring at her, the Matriarch's ears slightly pricked forwards. "Be warned Eilidh, I find you lying to me, there will be consequences...terrible ones..."

"I would _never_lie to you, Matriarch!" Eilidh whispered, eyes wide and trembling nervously.

"Be grateful its_not_ the rut - " She growled quietly. "Very well. Be warned, Eilidh, my patience with your predilections wears thin. If I catch you doing anything else that could bring shame to our herd, I will not hesitate to punish you..."

Eilidth's head dropped and she flattened her ears. "I understand, mother... It is your right."

"Just remember that - you will breed this rut, no more excuses, no more... of this.. you know how endangered our kind are. Red breeds true to Red... not some... disgusting...feral..."

As she stalked away, Eilidh breathed a quiet sigh of relief, knowing she'd killed another Red - a young buck - and rubbed herself with his scent glands, trying to mask the other scent on her. If her Matriarch had even the slightest hint of what had happened - her punishment would be swift and excruciating for Eilidh A twinge of guilt and shame swept over Eilidh as she rejoined her herd - she had lied to her Matriarch - that was bad enough - but to engage in what she had with this strange, enigmatic Buck? If her Matriarch found out about this elicit interaction - both their necks would be trapped beneath the Matriarch's fangs and jaws...

Eilidh shuddered, backing her rump against her cabin door, feeling it close behind her. Taking a few breaths, Eilidh transformed back into her anthropomorphic form - retrieving her rough woolen robe and slipping it over her shoulders.

Approaching the bed, Eilidh could smell his scent that'd soaked into the rug on which his unconscious body lay - that salty yet pleasurable scent of his orgasm - and it made her inwardly tremble with carnal desire.

"Deer, wake!" Eilidh murmured, tweaking Ethan's ear gently between her thumb and forefinger.

He remained unconscious, and she frowned, then pinched his ear sharper, until he suddenly snapped awake with a startled and painful squeal.

"Hey...oh..." Ethan shuddered, his brain catching up to his mouth.

"Eilidh is back, Deer. Why do Deer sleep so much? Eilidh gave Deer medicine; like would Red Stag..."

Ethan shuddered and looked down, not daring to look into her eyes for fear of what he'd see in them, so decided to play meek and submissive. "Eilidh, I'm... not a Red... I'm a Whitetail! We're - probably more susceptible to whatever that medicine is, being a much smaller and lighter deer species. If what you've given me can put a Red to sleep, then..."

Ethan gasped as she grabbed his muzzle and forced it shut, her ears snapping backwards as she scented the air.

"Be silent, Deer!" Eilidh growled warningly.

Ethan swallowed convulsively, scenting the fear-like smell that suddenly filled Eilidh's body. Quickly, but not obviously, she moved to the windows of her cottage and peered through the roughly woven curtains - like she was looking, but acting like she was just curious and looking out at the forest.

For fifteen minutes, Eilidh continued, before her posture and stance visibly relaxed and she sighed, before turning back to her cauldron and ladling two bowls full of the stew. Giving one to Ethan, who looked down at his, before he looked up at her and gave a gentle nod of thanks. Eilidh consumed hers quickly, her paws visibly quivering.

"What's wrong?" Ethan asked.

"Deer be quiet!" Eilidh growled at him.

Ethan's ears twitched and he timidly scented the air, before his eyes widened and he forgot her warning.

"Different...scent - It's..."

Eilidh snarled, her dewlaps curling back as she leaped to her cloven hooves and her paws gripped his ears painfully.

"Eilidh, please...hurts - " Ethan whispered fearfully.

After a few moments, where he swore she'd tear his ears off, she suddenly shuddered and let him go, sitting on the edge of the bed and resting her chin on her paws.

"Sorry...scared - " Eilidh whispered, her voice low and fearful. "I had to return to herd - Matriarch.."

Matriarch? Oh, her herd leader and..oh... oh no...

"Eilidh.."

"You know nothing Deer! Are ignorant, stupid Fawn! You have no idea of what will happen; if Matriarch catches us!"

"I..." Ethan began, then as she turned to face him, he shut his muzzle with a snap. "No, I know a little - I know the... I mean..."

"I..." Eilidh shuddered, fighting her natural urges and her rational mind. "Is wrong. Red mate true with Red, Deer is not Red... yet - I am... drawn to Deer, Deer is gentle, kind, affectionate..."

Ethan blinked slowly. "I know... nothing about your people, your kind... I'd heard stories about your people - but that was all, just stories, made up, make-believe..."

Eilidh suddenly turned about, then without warning, she moved faster than he could follow. He found himself pinned him down on the crude bed, Eilidth straddling him, his front hooves under her knees as she looked down at him.

"Deer think _this_is a story? Some tale to tell Fawn's?"

He felt her anger, her fear, her...warmth... pressed against his sheath and Ethan swallowed and looked up at her, his heart pounding in his chest as he stared wide-eyed.

"Eilidh needs Deer... needs too...know true happiness. Red Stag? They cruel and painful as mates. Hurt Eilidh and others. Eilidh want Deer to mate with me. Show me...please..."

Ethan swallowed, feeling conflicted and confused. He wasn't used to a partner so...strong and dominant. His own kind, the Doe's were gentle and meek, submissive and shy - this Doe was easily his own weight - or more - and dominant, forceful, demanding...

"Show... Eilidh - please, Deer? Show me your... how you breed your Doe's?"

"Eilidh - I..."

Ethan gasped, as he felt her reach behind herself, her long, slender fingers sliding around his sheath, then lifting it up to press against her labial folds - the tip brushing against her guard hairs.

"I...I can't..." Ethan squealed. "It'd be wrong and...I just...urk!"

_Eilidh_groaned as she pushed her hips down, her vaginal muscles squeezing the sheath down and back, as she literally impaled him in one movement inside her. Her other paw held his muzzle shut, as she sensuously rocked back and forth, looking down into his wide, confused eyes.

"Mmph - " Ethan gurgled, his eyes doubling in size, as her internal warmth brought him almost to full arousal in seconds.

"Breathe, Deer - " Eilidh chuckled, alternating her grip so she could still keep his muzzle shut, but allow him to breathe through his nostrils.

Ethan twitched beneath her, his mind ensnared by her scent, her _warmth, _and her strong, dominant nature. It was both alluring and terrifying for him in equal measure.

"Eilidh please Deer?" Eilidh smiled, leaning forwards and angling his length within her, as she placed her paws on his shoulders and increased her rocking motion.

"Urgh..." Ethan gurgled, incapable of coherent speech.

Eilidh snickered and leaned even further forwards, her hips sliding back and forth on his furred belly, then pushing back hard against his hind hips with each sensual mounting.

"Eili..." Ethan gasped; before he bit his lower lip and started quivering.

"Deer...already..." Eilidh gasped, then looked down, a smile spreading across her muzzle. "Is almost as fast as feral Red..."

Ethan blushed, his inner ears turning crimson, as he fought the urges, unable to help himself as Eilidh pushed down hard on him, her vaginal walls squeezing tighter and tighter. With a strangled squeal, he tried to buck against her - but her weight and strength only made him twitch and gasp as he shot his orgasm into Eilidth's contracting folds with sharp, powerful spurts.

Eilidth's body tensed and quivered with pleasure, as she straddled Ethan's convulsing body, inhaling his intoxicating scent that mingled with her own. Suddenly, her ears snapped backward and her nostrils flared as she detected a familiar scent. Before she could move, the door to her cottage exploded inwards with a deafening crash, splinters flying in all directions.

Ethan let out a high-pitched squeal of Cervid terror, as Eilidth's fingers contracted agonizingly tight on his shoulders. Eilidth's eyes went wide in terror as she stared into the enraged expression on her Matriarch, who had burst into the cottage with a loud, deafening snort.

"You lied to me Eilidh, you lied to me..." the Matriarch roared in rage. "I knew it, all along, but I refused to believe it! How could you? Do you have any idea what you have done? No, no more lies Eilidh - I've given you too many chances... Now, now you will pay for your foolish actions..."

"I will not!" Eilidh suddenly snapped back. "He is mine, my mate, I claim him as is my right!"

Stepping closer, the Matriarch's muzzle curled backward in a cruel, savage snarl, her canines dripping saliva and eyes going almost pure black.

"So be it - you will suffer the same fate as your foolish, selfish Buck... There is one rule we do not break Eilidh - you not only broken it - you shattered it..."

"I...mother - " Eilidh suddenly squealed, her ears flat and eyes wide. "No...please..."

As other doe's crowded in, in their anthropomorphic forms, swords strapped around their hips, one holding a long coil of rope diagonally across one shoulder and her chest, the Matriarch's order snapped.

"_Beir orra!"_Shrieked the Matriarch.

_Seize them..._Come the terrified thought in Eilidh's mind.

Eilidth's heart raced as fear overtook her. She knew, instinctively, there was no chance - her against the Matriarch's Guard and their sharp swords that unsheathed with a painful hiss of drawn steel. With her voice cracking, Eilidh pleaded piteously.

"Matriarch, I beg of you, spare him... he is not of our kind, even our species - if I am to be punished, then let it on my neck fall!" Tears welled in her eyes, as she saw her Matriarch's Guards step closer, their own disgust and anger visible in their disgusted looks.

"Mercy?" Snarled the Matriarch, her eyes cold and unforgiving. "You have _any_idea what your foolish weakness has done? How it has put our entire herd in danger? There can be one consequence for your transgressions..."

Eilidh bowed her head in guilt and shame, knowing she had not only crossed the line; but stomped across it. Nausea filled her, as she was cruelly dragged off Ethan and forced to her knees, two swords held at her neck.

"Submit..." Come the Matriarch's orders.

Eilidh bowed her head, slowly placing her paws behind her back and sobbing heartbrokenly. Barely, she heard Ethan's cries as he was dragged from the pallet bed and slammed bodily onto the ground, all four legs bound tightly.

Eilidh had one last throw of the dice to play - she threw with all her mental strength and will - shouting up at the ceiling.

"I invoke the ritual of comhrag marbhdhach!"

silence hung pregnant and heavy for a dozen heartbeats; before the Matriarch threw back her head and laughed hysterically - until she realized no one amongst her guards laughed with her...

As sudden as it'd come, the Matriarch's eyes narrowed and her ears flicked backward in incredulous disbelief.

"You_dare_challenge me?" She snarled, her voice dripping with sarcasm and contempt. "I am your mother, your leader, your Matriarch..."

Her guards exchanged nervous glances; until one of them stepped forwards between Eilidh and the enraged Matriarch, her paw on her sword.

"Matriarch, the challenge has been issued. You must accept. You can not refuse, as by our own law, refusal will result in your death!"

With a savage, bestial grin, her eyes swirling into almost pure blackness, the Matriarch turned to look at the others, then back at her senior guard. "Very well... I accept her challenge! But know this - I_will_make you all suffer for your foolishness..."

"So be it, Matriarch," Answered the doe, as she bowed her head.

"As for you," She turned her head and glared at her daughter, who cowered where she knelt, tears streaking down her muzzle. "You.. before you die, you'll watch me tear his heart out of his chest and devour it... I will not allow you to die; until you see what I do to him.."

As the five doe's raise their swords, their eyes filled with tears, yet their muzzles wreathed with determination, the Matriarch sneered at them and left the cottage, preparing for the right of comhrag marbhdhach - the battle to the death...
