#1 of Otter River

N'Kanna dodged left after the pike, pushing hard. It was nearly as big as him and would feed four of the tribe! But he was nearing the end of his breath; soon he'd have to surface and let the fish go. He pushed himself harder and thrust his spear at it. The barbs caught... just for a moment, they held. Then the fish gave a twist and pulled free.

That was all N'Kanna needed. As momentum carried him past, he dropped his spear and grabbed at the pike. His short claws buried into its gills. Now the fish struggled in his paws. It thrashed as he tried to get his fangs into its head -- thrashed too well! N'Kanna let out a burst of bubbles from his mouth and tried to make for the surface. The pike dragged him down towards the bed. N'Kanna kicked harder. Then, with another burst of bubbles, he let go of the pike and swam upwards. He watched the fish swim away. His brother's mate, Shri swam after it; the fish was hurt and she looked fresh, she'd probably get it.

N'Kanna's nose broke the surface. He took a quick breath, ducked under and waited. Nothing followed him, so he poked his head out and looked around as he panted. Only his brother, T'Ka was there, panting too, some distance downstream.

"The big one got away?" T'Ka guessed.

N'Kanna nodded. "I ran out of breath," he replied, between pants. "I only needed to get its head in my jaws, too. I think Shri has it now."

T'Ka grinned. "She's the best hunter!" he exclaimed.

N'Kanna rubbed his nose yes and took a few deep breaths. "Did you catch anything?"

T'Ka rubbed his nose, too as he pulled his paw above the water. Two big bass came up with them. "Better catch something soon or you'll have nothing to trade."

"I already brought in a bass and a basket of mussels."

"Mussels, yum! They're my favourite!"

"Why don't you ever pick them yourself, Ka?"

"That's kid's work," T'Ka replied. Then he looked again at his brother. "I don't mean you're not adult enough. You have to teach."

"Not that so much, I want to make sure you'll trade with me."

The two otters laughed.

"My breathing's calm now," T'Ka said. "You ready to catch more fish?"

N'Kanna watched his brother's chest; it was slower, but not calm enough for an extended underwater swim after fish. He waved no and panted harder. "Keep me company?"

T'Ka pawed his nose yes and smiled. He swam over and gave N'Kanna a cuddle, (keeping his catch away from his brother's mouth.)

"I spotted a school of minnows going upstream towards the old latrine earlier. Something big enough to hunt should have spotted them by now."

N'Kanna waved no. "It's too late in the day, Elder will call us in to eat before we get there."

T'Ka glanced at the sun. "A fast swim on the surface and we'll get there in plenty of time!"

"Then we wouldn't have enough breath to hunt. The call would be faint that far away, we might miss it."

"You worry too much! The fewer hunters, the more fish. Come with me, Kanna!"

N'Kanna looked up and down the river. There was nobody on the bank as far as he could see, friendly or hunters. Shri popped up on the surface, hauling the pike up in her teeth. She hand-signed to them that she was going home.

"Take my catch, we're going to hunt further upstream by the old latrine!" T'Ka told her and started swimming. "Kanna, race you!" he added.

"No fair, you started first!" N'Kanna yelled as he swam after.

Shri pulled her fangs out of the weakly-struggling pike. "Cubs!" she sneered. But she smiled as she paddled towards the bass that T'Ka had left behind.

N'Kanna swam as fast as he could and was soon abreast of his older brother. T'Ka saw him and started setting a serious pace. He pulled ahead slowly, but N'Kanna kept as close as he could. T'Ka was soon panting much harder than N'Kanna. But he didn't slow in the least. Instead, N'Kanna had to pick up his own pace to keep on his brother's tail.

Suddenly N'Kanna stopped and panted in the water. The fur on his arms was shaking to a gentle pulse. N'Kanna listened carefully; in the distance, something was going thud, thud, thud. But his brother raced on, seeming not to notice.

"Ka!" he cried. "It's the signal, the Elder is calling us home!"

"Keep up!" T'Ka yelled back.

"Can't you feel it? We have to go home!"

T'Ka stopped and looked back with a boyish smile. He waved to N'Kanna to join him. Then his face fell as he felt it, too. He frowned as he started swimming back the way they'd come.

"Race you!" N'Kanna called and started back.

"Underwater!" T'Ka replied.

N'Kanna rolled his eyes, but his brother was already driving downstream through the water like a furry torpedo. He took a deep breath, dove and did the same.

Surfacing as they needed to just long enough to gasp, the two otters shot past fish, trying to out race each other instead. The deep vibrations that rushed over them got louder as they came swiftly closer to their source. N'Kanna found himself surfacing more often as he went. The beat was easy to hear above the river now, driving and compelling. N'Kanna found himself kicking to its beat despite himself. He found T'Ka swimming beside him on the surface, laughing.

"That old log always catches you when the Elder beats it," he said.

Then T'Ka swam under N'Kanna. The younger otter was going slowly now, panting but keeping up the rhythm that the log-drum was setting. He gasped as his brother surfaced again in front of him.

"Ka!" he exclaimed. "Let go of my penis!"

T'Ka just giggled and added his other paw to the embrace. N'Kanna put both paws on T'Ka's chest and pushed, but soon stopped as his member was pulled brutally.

"Ka, we can't, we're blood kin! It's against the teachings!!"

"So what? We're not going to make babies!"

T'Ka took a breath and ducked under, keeping a firm hold on N'Kanna's cock. He took his brother's penile pod into his mouth and licked to it's very base where it streamlined into his body. Then he nipped it there. N'Kanna chirped loudly as his cock became instantly erect and hard. T'Ka licked N'Kanna's sack, his pod, then the length of his cock and opened his mouth to take the tip in. N'Kanna saw a brief glint of light on his brother's fangs. he put both paws on T'Ka's forehead and pushed hard. T'Ka let go and surfaced.

"Kanna," he said, "for someone who teaches us the ways of joy, you worry a lot!" He gave N'Kanna's cock another caress with the furry webbing between his fingers, then turned in the water and swam away, laughing.

N'Kanna watched him go. The call home was still thudding through him, especially his hard, hot cock. He felt himself as T'Ka had; shuddered and did it again. The Elder's drum was a powerful turn on and he knew there were others who felt that way, too. They would dive and...

N'Kanna smiled and took a deep, diving breath. He swam down to the river bed and knelt in the mud. He smiled as he caressed himself, his own wet fur cooling his hot flesh. The drum beat made his heart beat in time, faster than it should, but it felt strong inside him. His cock wiggled with his pulse, the beat in the water making it sway more and more. He grabbed his sack and squeezed in counterpoint.

N'Kanna watched his cock swaying to the beat of the call. He rocked in the water with it, making it rub itself in his tummy fur. He smiled, his eyes half-closed in pleasure. He rubbed his paw pads over the sensitive flesh. Then, taking his cock in his paws, he sprang up from the river bed and hurried to the surface. He broke it with his nose first, ducked back under, then stuck his head up. He looked around quickly as he panted, but he was still alone. He took an extra-deep breath and returned to the river bed.

Now he knelt with one leg raised. He took his cock in his mouth as if to clean himself. He licked his tender flesh up and down. The drumming still pulsed through his crotch, centering on his tail-hole now. He pressed a finger claw to it, then into it. He sucked at his cock. He rubbed his finger inside himself; he added a second. His finger webbing spread him open wider.

N'Kanna opened his mouth and let his cock out. He pressed the claws of his free paw to the base of his pod and licked the tip over and over. A burst of bubbles left his mouth and he quickly shut it tight. Yellow-white cream began to flow out. It turned into a broken, warm, sticky stream that flowed away with the river, wriggling in the beat of the call home.

N'Kanna knelt in the river bed, milking out the last of his load. It caught in the web of his paw and made it sticky. He smiled at it. He lifted his paw to his mouth. But before it reached his tongue, he noticed something moving upstream towards him. It was a fat trout, following his cum-trail, eating as it went. N'Kanna held up his paw towards it...

The Elder put a paw to Shan's shoulder. The young otter stopped striking a stick on the hollow log that he held half out of the water and set it down.

"You can stop," the Elder said. "If N'Kanna hasn't come back by now, then it must be that he cannot."

"What do we do?" one of the otters asked.

The Elder looked at Shan. The young otter looked back at her, but she only smiled.

"We don't have much light left," he told the assembled tribe. "We can search nearby, but if he's further away it will have to wait for... Hey!" he exclaimed. "There he is!"

Shan pointed upstream to a figure splashing clumsily along the surface of the river. It quickly turned into N'Kanna with two fish in his mouth and his spear in his paw with a third fish on the tines. He soon arrived where the rest of the tribe were.

"Sorry I'm late, Elder," he panted. "I stopped to catch these extra fish. And wait until you hear how I caught them!"
