prologue

19 years ago....

Colby was still a kid around this time, he still didn't know too much about anything even though he'd just entered middle school, one of his closer friends being a cat he met a year ago, Luna, he decided he was going to pay her a visit after school today since he got permission from his parents, this is odd... he can't remember their names... he had just thought about them and their names but something felt off. He shrugged it off thinking it was his short term memory kicking in, so he finished up school and waited by the doors for luna, he took the skull off his face looking at it with a sigh, he never showed anyone his face, not even luna, because of what happened last time he did. so when she finally came out he put the skull back on and gave her a smile. "Hey Luna, how was your day?" he asked happily. "Colby. Hi." She said happily. Colby smiled and looked at Luna for a good while before looking at his phone and sighed, "so i got permission from my ma and pa to come over for a night!" Colby said, smiling. "Oh," said Luna, "well um, actually I have Glitch here too." "okay? I'm sure we can all get along, besides, i don't think my parents want me home for a bit...'' Colby said one of his eyes darkened a bit as his smile became more strained. Luna looked a little uncertain. "She's, well, shy...she doesn't like others looking at her." said Luna. Colby began to reach a hand to his skull but stopped himself, closing his eyes. "But, if you really want to come in, just don't say anything about her glitched side." Luna said quietly. Another cat quickly darted across the room, not wanting to be seen. Colby began hearing multiple whispers in his head again, and in order to make them stop he put his hood up and took the skull off and bashed his head into the wall then put the skull back on, blood now dripping from the bottom of the skull where he'd made contact. Luna trembled. "Glitch! Get the medical kit!" "I'm fine..." Colby said, putting his hood down again. "Now i'll say this once while i'm here, never remove my skull" he said with a deep growl. He than held his head wobbling a bit "w-what.... Happened" he asked seeming to have forgotten what just happened. A gray cat peeked around the corner. Colby looked at her silently for a few seconds before collapsing from blood loss. The gray cat's arm then turned into a blaster cannon. She carefully stepped towards colby, and gently kicked him. "Put the cannon away Glitch," said Luna. "But he might a-a-a-aaaattack me when he-he-he-he-he wakes up." said Glitch. Later that night colby woke up still losing blood so he went into the bathroom where there were some wrap bandages and removed his skull long enough to put the bandages on than put the skull back on walking to the dining room where everyone was now eating "hey, i'm up..." colby said shakily. Immediately, Glitch took out her blaster cannon and pointed it at Colby. Colby than grabbed the upper jaw of the skull along with the base of the blaster seeming not to be scared as something about the skull being moved up a bit scared glitch more than anything. Glitch hid under the table. He let go of the skull and blaster and looked around before sitting down and looking at Luna with a smile as if he didn't know he scared glitch half to death. Luna gave an unamused look. "Say sorry to Glitch." she said. "Sorry, glitchy," he said. Glitch slowly peered out from underneath the table. Colby sat down eating, something seemed off about him, even since he and Luna met, he always seemed so tired and exhausted during school. "Hey Colby, are you getting enough sleep," asked Luna. "huh? Oh yeah..." he said, obviously lying. Luna gave a suspicious look. "You have been sleeping in class." Luna said. Colby looked away "i-i rather not talk about it." he said. "Maybe he has a lot of nightmares," said Glitch. "Uh, something like that..." Colby said. Glitch twitched her ear. "Well then maybe you need to stop watching horror movies," she said. "What's a 'movie'?" Colby asked as if he's never seen one before. "I-it's well..." Glitch pauses and begins to static. Colby tilted his head confused and looked around before getting up and going to the guest room without another word. He could hear Luna talking to Glitch in the kitchen. "I told you he's a friend, Glitch. Calm down." Colby sighed. Later that night luna heard colby in the guest room making a lot of ruckus. Luna moaned and tossed around in her bed. "SHUT UP COLBY," she yelled. "Why the fuck won't you leave me alone with your negativity, i'm tired of hearing it all the time!" she heard colby say from the guest room but it wasn't directed to her. "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY OF THAT BULLSHIT! I HAVE LEFT YOU ALONE ALL NIGHT, NOW SHUT-UUP!" Luna growled. Than there was a scream of what sounded like pain from colby proving to luna something was really wrong. Luna suddenly came to her senses and gasped in panic. "Wha?"she ran to colby to find him prying the skull off his face as he cried blood and still shouting things at someone who wasn't there but shifting languages every few seconds.

A few minutes had passed and now colby was searching the drawers for something and eventually pulled a knife out of one of the drawers. He took his shirt off showing how skinny he was being all skin/fur and bones before he held the knife up to his left eye and slammed the knife into it blood spraying everywhere before he pulled the knife away ripping he eye out with it, he pulled the eye off the blade than did the same with the other after saying "now i can finally sleep..." then stabbed his right eye. He laughed weakly once his right eye was out than collapsed causing one side of his skull to crack.

He didn't know when but he woke up at a hospital confused on as of how he could see not noticing the fact that he was completely naked and sat up looking in a mirror next to his bed seeing how his eyes were black with orange rings and looked at the reflection in awe
