They said I have to start making these to track the experiment's progress.

We started almost 2 years ago now, so it's a little late to start in my opinion, but whatever.

Specimen number, ugh, what was it... 369 I think, it flatlined today. It was doing fine, 'socialising' normally, then suddenly just keeled over. I'm not even exaggerating.

So, another half a million dollars down the drain.

I'm not sure how long we've got before they pull the funding away from us, but Maurice, my coworker, said that so long as we get 372 ready soon we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

They already are cutting corners trying to work with our equipment, which I don't think has been replaced since the 90s, so I'd hate to think what they will do to get this project finished in time. Honestly, it would be a miracle if it even turns on.

I should probably state what our assignment is.

So, the government is wanting to replace most of its military workers with 'hybrid' employees, which I thought was an odd assignment, since they already have a lot of cross-bred soldiers. It was then explained to me that they were meaning another kind of 'hybrid'.

They were referring to creating cybernetic organisms.

I thought that this would have had a lot of backlash from existing military workers, but surprisingly more than half signed up for 'mechanical enhancement'. Unfortunately, out of the 370-something we've 'enhanced', we only have a 1:12 survival ratio. Yeah.

I'm not really too sure how we are carrying out the 'enhancement', but apparently it is through a process called 'prototype-genetics', whatever that means.

I'll try and gather some more information for my next log.

I still have no idea what the point of writing all of this down is...
