#4 of Daily Warm Ups

I kinda followed up on my promise but I want to write more. This ending's satisfactory enough for now.

Gonna go out and have lunch with my dad and aunt.

Though I might do a Warm Up - 5 later or tomorrow.

Enjoy and thanks for reading! :3

Warm Up - 4

All I had to my name was this sword. Claymore in appearance if one were to mention Earth, but that's an empty world right there. I use it to cut branches for firewood and make it easier for me to pick fruit off of, and it lights up like a torch at night if it didn't rest in its scabbard.

Fortunately, it was the strangest part of this sword. The world around me was far, far stranger. Let me show you.

I mentioned earlier about cutting branches, and the trees here have very long trunks. So what I do is I make this big jump, where I'm high enough to reach five times my height. And let's just say I'm a pretty tall lizard. Nonetheless, I make that jump and chop a branch off which can somehow bear the fruit it intended to grow. The trees themselves had bone-white trunks, with brown branches that had amber leaves. They're wide enough for me to hug around and climb, but really, jumping was easier.

Normally you would slice the longest branches for they bear more fruit, but the shorter ones taste sweeter and are more satisfying. I don't really need a sword to cut them open, or even slice them up. My teeth, fangs some would call, could go through them easily. And it's hard to describe them because they come in an assortment of shapes, and I've chopped enough times to know that it's purely random. The contents, however, are all the same.

The purple outer meat was like, well, raw meat but sharp teeth minced them with ease. And then you have this pink-ish gooey inner parts, and something hard to suckle on at its white pearlescent core, which is its seed. Edible though, even for folks whose bore fangs aren't as good.

I've hinted that I'm a lizard. A tall lizard. One whose scales were red, or whatever the sky was. In this case, red. I'm no scholar to know why it's red here, but yellow on one of its moons. And my apologies for being so rude to not introduce myself beforehand; I am Baxter. Not exactly the most common name out here, which makes it weird in this world's standards I guess.

Normally, folks here are named 'Zazuzul', or 'Vaekar the Malicious', or even 'Pos'k3th'. Except for that last one, they're a species of draconids, winged and hard scales. And to them I am but an off worlder. That last one I mentioned? Race of pure magic, but I'm not going to divulge on those yet.

Since I am an off worlder, all I could have is this very sword. I would also like to clarify that I have clothing and a bag; I am not barbaric unlike some others that loiter these lands. Territory is identified by which areas, regions, have been untouched by trees.

I look at one whose fruit I gathered not too long ago, and behind it was an orderless forest that blocked the view off the horizon, giving it this ominous red fog. You'd see other swords light up at night as one would go through it, only for them to be lifted and snuffed when they let go of the hilt.

Some things happen there, unspeakable and morbid. And I'd rather not think about it for now. Gonna go off my merry way. This is Baxter, and I'll see ya in the next one. I'm smiling also, so there's that.
