A sequel to "Distant recollection", so if you haven't read that one, consider taking a look!

Kodi finally arrives to Hazel's party and it seems everyone is expecting something will happen... What could that possibly be?

This one is also a Patreon reward for Kodi (https://twitter.com/Blu_Kodiak). Hope you guys like it!

"Oh, Kodi! You're here."

Hazel tried to move between the six or seven people filling his living room, making a huge effort not to drop the tray he was carrying. He had finally decided to bring some drinks and snacks to the room, even though not all his friends had arrived at his place. In particular, Kodi seemed to have decided to be fashionably late. Hazel had to wonder what he'd been doing that had kept him so busy for the whole evening, but that was the wolf's business.

"Yeah! Sorry for being late. Had a long day at work."

Hazel had never asked what Kodi's job was, but he had the faintest feeling that he knew.

"Good thing you finally came! Hazel was getting nervous seeing that you wouldn't arrive until tomorrow," someone pointed out. Another of Hazel's friends chuckled softly.

"Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad, was it?" the dragon asked, with a smile.

"What can I say? Sometimes I like to make people wait. A bit of anticipation never hurt anyone," Kodi mentioned, leaning on the wall and crossing his arms on his chest.

Hazel managed to get to the table and placed the tray on the center. He then turned to the black wolf.

"Anticipation? It's almost eleven. The only thing I anticipated by now was you calling to tell me you couldn't make it because one of your mysterious, badly-time tasks had come up."

Kodi shrugged.

It was then that Hazel noticed all the people in the room were glancing at him as if they expecting something to happen. Their gazes would go from the black wolf to him, as if watching an invisible tennis match. The idea that there was some kind of hidden message going on that he wasn't part of made him feel slightly uneasy. What if they had some kind of secret gift for him? He was very bad at reacting to those things.

"I think these people are right," Kodi said then, gesturing at his other friends with one arm as he moved away from the wall. "I think you might have been too nervous. It definitely looks like you thought I wouldn't be here."

"Heh." Hazel tried to hide the blush on his cheeks. Too much attention poured onto him was always prone to make him flustered. "As I said, it was no big deal."

Kodi stepped closer. His amber eyes were now looking directly into Hazel's.

He had the weirdest feeling that he'd been staring into those eyes, not too long ago, in a completely different place.

"I don't know, you don't sound very convinced," Kodi said, shrugging again. One of his paws rose in the air and Hazel's eyes followed the movement as if they had been trained to do exactly that. "I think you should relax."

There was a snap.

Hazel could only think it was a good thing he'd already placed the tray on the table, or otherwise it would have dropped to the floor, much like his body felt was happening to it. His muscles grew loose and limp, and someone grabbed him before his heavy body touched the ground, but by then the dragon wasn't really aware of those things anymore.

He simply floated in a dark ocean, letting the currents take him deeper. There was a voice speaking somewhere but Hazel's brain must have been really used to it - like white noise, it was making sounds but the dragon couldn't figure them out, just take them in. He sank in the dark abyss, until another snap pierced through the darkness and made him open his eyes.

He woke up in the living room, lying on the floor.

The first thing he noticed as soon as his heavy eyelids managed to open was that he was completely alone. There were still remnants of a party here and there - the tray was still on the table, filled with empty plastic cups and a few forgotten chips - but the party was gone. Light came from the window. Was it morning already?

Hazel stood up and tried to figure out what had happened. Kodi had gotten close to him, yes, and then he had snapped his fingers and -

His cheeks got warm. There was no way that had happened. His friend had only known about his kink interest for a few weeks. He'd had no physical time to get so good at hypnotism, right? But then, why couldn't he remember a single thing from that night?

He took a few steps, disoriented, trying to fight through the misty, solid walls someone had built in his mind. He couldn't see through them, even if there was something on the other side. He struggled and struggled until it felt like his brain was about to give in, but not a single memory came to him.

"I can't believe it..." he heard himself whispering.

And then, another loud snap pierced through the empty room.

His body tensed for a single second before going completely limp and surrendering to the overwhelming, pleasant darkness. He tried to hold onto something, but his mind drifted like a piece of wood in the roaring sea.

The next time he opened his eyes, he was sitting on the couch at his living room.

"W... what...?" was all he managed to say as he drowsily looked around.

His friends were there again, but they were...

Sleeping.

Two of them had been placed on the floor, sitting back to back. Their relaxed bodies were in such a precarious balance that Hazel thought they would simply slip to the ground at any moment. Another one was sleeping on the couch, lying on his belly. The part of his face that Hazel could see from the couch was filled with a dopey, pleasantly relaxed smile. And a few other people were placed in all kinds of positions - one was even sleeping on the table, as if he had slumped on the first place he'd found, while another was lying on a row of chairs.

"See? You're not the only one."

The sudden sound of Kodi's voice took Hazel off guard.

The dragon turned to the door, where the black wolf was leaning on the doorway with a cunning smirk.

"What... what do you mean?" he asked, confused.

Kodi chuckled and began to walk towards the dragon. Hazel felt as if he'd lived that a few minutes ago - but then again, it had been next morning, hadn't it? - except it hadn't. It couldn't have been. He was in the party again. Then...?

"I have no idea how you haven't figured it out yet," Kodi teased him, leaning closer as he placed his paws on the arms of the couch, trapping Hazel between them. Then, he looked straight into his eyes. "You're the one who's into this, you know?"

Hazel gulped, the familiar heat crawling into his cheeks again.

"Do you... do you mean..."

But just as the realization hit his mind, Kodi's paw rose again. The dragon's mind froze momentarily in anticipation, knowing what would come immediately afterwards.

And then, it happened.

"Heh, don't worry." The black wolf held his friend's bobbing head with a paw, chuckling. "I bet someday you'll understand what's going on. But until then, I'll be having my fair share of fun with you."

Hazel moaned something in his sleep, but he didn't wake up from the deep state he'd already gotten used to. After all, it had been like that for quite some time now. Except tonight Kodi had a room full of people to toy with.

And the black wolf grinned, knowing that the possibilities were, to say the least, entertaining.
