Prologue:

The Part Where It All Started, Like The Novel

"Where am I?"

"What is this place? It feels familiar."

"Did I actually die this time? Huh, neat then. So this is how the afterlife feels then. I wonder where my mom is?"

*Buzz Buzz*

As the alarm clock rang on his phone, Kett wakes up, feeling frustrated after surviving another suicide attempt that he planned days ago. This is his 5th attempt and still doesn't give up. He just wants to end his miserable life. From his mother passing away when he was born until leaving their home from his abusive father and his siblings and now currently lives in an apartment where his uncle from her mother's side owns. Kett just wants to disappear and die without worrying about any problems.

"Welp, that was absolutely disappointing, I guess." Kett sighs as he wakes up, frustrated as he's still alive.

Kett then went to the kitchen, cooked his simple breakfast, after that he went to the bathroom, brushed his fangs, and took a quick shower before going back to his room and starting to wear his school uniform and his glasses. He played his music playlist from some of his favorite music artists.

As he looks out his window to get some morning light, he whispers something to himself.

"I wish I'll have a companion someday-- just kidding they won't probably give a shit about me. After all, I'm just some random person who just wants to die but ho?ho? fate is always there and poof, I'm still alive. FUCKING HELL WHEN I WILL ACTUALLY DIE FOR GOOD?!" Kett said after leaving his apartment, on his way outside to unlock the padlock of his one-and-only bicycle, and now on his way to his school, Kireihana High School.

Kireihana High School is a government-owned high school in Japan, especially from the fact that he was accepted there as a scholarship student 4 months ago. Having high scores on his entrance exam yet doesn't participate neither in extracurricular activities nor performance tasks. Causing his grades to be a bit lower than average.

His school isn't really that far away from where he lives so he just rides his bike and pedals on his way there. It's much more fun for him. Suddenly, while riding his bicycle, he felt something off.

"Ahh really?! The bike's chains are broken again?!" Kett groans in annoyance after noticing the problem.

"Well then, I guess I have to fix this later. I'll have to walk there. Even if it means I'll be late for my class."

With that in mind, he quickly left the bike and proceeded to run towards the sidewalk. He opens his music album on his phone and continues to listen to the music that was recently released.

"If I quickly push myself to the limit,"

"I wonder if I can get closer to it?"

As the lyrics continue to pour on his ears he wonders when he'll have his happy time in his so-called "wretched world". Though, as long as the internet's there, he can enjoy some of his favorite games on his phone. While he's walking on the road, he saw some clovers blooming. He's not that amazed until he notices that there's a four-leaf clover. Without hesitation, he quickly picks the clover and puts it on the palm of his hand. Kett smiles a little bit.

"Heh~? a four-leaf clover ey? That's like 1 in 10,000! Quite impressive for me to even spot it even with these blurry eyes of mine. Though clovers bloom during the springtime yet that's still 7 months away from its blooming season."

As he continued walking he finally reached his destination, the Kireihana High School. It's absolutely stunning as the name translates to "Pretty Flower". Luckily for him, he's still on time for the morning ceremony. Which is quite disappointing for him since now after walking from his apartment to his school, he now has to stand and do exercise routines. Kett isn't a strong nor an enduring person when it comes to handling physical tasks. One time he fainted while jogging at the campus for their Physical Education test. Which he'll never forget due to how "intense" it was.

Moments gone by and he's feeling sleepy at the school gymnasium already. Kett's very lethargic regardless how long he sleeps. He didn't listen to the announcement that the President of the Student Council was talking until he heard something.

"In the next two weeks, we will hold this school's Music Festival! There's a lot of activities like singing competitions, band competitions and so much more for us to enjoy. So better stay tuned with the school's radio team to know more about the details. That's all I have to say. You may now return to your respective classrooms."

Kett's eyes were filled with shimmering joy. His knees were shaking in excitement, his soul felt like being reincarnated once again. This is the only time in his school where he had this intense feeling of thrill from all of his body. He was stunned for a while, thinking about what competition he will join at this school's event in the next two weeks.

Kett is an avid music freak. He likes to listen to music all the time, regardless of what situation he's in. He likes to play his personal guitar and would upload his covers along with it. Though, he likes to hide himself when he does record and upload it to his KyuTube channel since he's not "worthy" to be seen. Unfortunately for him, his channel is pretty popular especially at his school. Thinking about that causes him anxiety to either join the music festival or stay low and watch other people play. He's nervous that there might be one day he'll be noticed and that he'll be a popular person at his school, and he does not like that to happen.

Now reality breaks and he's now getting called at by his professor, asking if he's okay.

"Kett? Is something wrong today?" His teacher questioned him.

"U-- Yes, teach! I-- Am-- absolutely f--ine." Kett frantically replied.

"Well then, class is starting once I get in there so better move now." The teacher then puts his arms on his shoulders and continues to chat with him.

That's his chemistry teacher, Mr. Puro. He is a black wolf with a very nice attitude, which is the reason why Kett totally loves his subject. Kett was scared about him from the first time due to his appearance but soon enough he realized that he wasn't the person he thought he'd be, he is actually very kind to every student in the school.

After a little talk during the hallway and now they're in their Chemistry room along with his other classmates. As the school period started, they were talking about meteors and their components. When suddenly Mr. Puro remembers something.

"Oh yeah I forgot, there will be a Angelus Lupos meteor shower tonight, so better observe and you'll have to write your observations during its duration, It'll be our assignment." He said while sitting at his own desk.

Kett unhesitatingly grabs his note and writes it off. He's not that interested in astronomy and such but since it came from his favorite subject and his favorite teacher then he'll try to do it.

"Man... I haven't even finished my other homeworks then Mr. Puro would add another one?! Sigh, guess I'll have to do another then I guess" Kett silently said to himself before closing his notebook and continued to listen to Mr. Puro's lesson.

"Apparently he said that meteors are the oldest living rock in the universe. How neat is that! Imagine getting hit and die by a meteor-- wait, those are called meteorites right? Since if a meteoroid would strike and land on Earth then it's called a meteorite. Meteors on the other hand, are those meteor showers that shine in the night, they're falling but then evaporate before landing due to friction. But it depends on when it survives landing on Earth's surface before disintegrating completely." Kett mumbled.

He continued to lend his ear again while Mr. Puro continued to discuss, soon t

he class was abruptly ended by the school's bell and the session is now finished. Soon enough, it's already recess time.

Kett isn't really fond of eating during recess time, so he just sits on his deck and kills the time by scrolling down in his social media on his phone. He's interested in this new Role-Playing Game (RPG) that he recently saw. It's about a twin sibling who are astronauts that lost their way when they were exploring a new planet and now they are stuck and must find a way to return to their own planet.

"I really hope the game's plot won't be boring like other games I've played." Kett says to his mind when suddenly the school's radio station began talking about the Music Festival.

"Hello there fellow students of Kireihana High School! We're your announcers, Hidari and Migi!" Both of them proudly shouted. Kett was surprised.

Hidari and Migi are inseparable and indistinguishable twins from the 2nd Grade Junior High Class. Kett knows that Hidari has a slightly higher pitch than Migi has.

"Well then, as the school's Council President has said recently, we will host this school's Music Festival!" Migi said.

"And now we'll give you the guidelines and events of this school's event!" Hidari intervenes.

Both of them continued to explain how some competitions work. Kett then listens to the main highlight of the Festival and his favorite part, the Band Clash.

"Well then we will never forget the elephant in the room for this Festival, the Band Clash" Migi says.

"Here are the guidelines for this event." Hidari replied.

"The Band Clash is a band competition, any grade level for Junior High can join at this particular moment, the group should have at least 4 members. One for guitar, one for the drums, Another one for the keyboards, and the other one for any instrument he/she desires to play. At least one person should be the main vocalist. The song should be original and must submit to the principal for some confirmations and clarifications. And that's all we have to say, Kireihana Station signing off." Migi explains.

By the time the guidelines had ended, recess time was over. So he waits for the next subject.

Moments gone by, school was finally over. He's happy that he can now go home. It's already dusk, almost the time to observe the meteor shower from his chemistry assignment. As he continued to walk towards his apartment, a familiar person came after him, riding a motorcycle.

"Oya Kett?" Says the rider.

"Who are you-- Oh hi there Mr. Puro!" Kett replied.

"Why are you walking alone? You know about the recent incidents of kidnapping right? It's not safe to walk alone here. You can hitch a ride from me. Don't be shy, I'm just worried about my student." Mr. Puro hesitantly said to Kett.

Kett's having a panic attack, he can't say or do anything but he knows that he'll have to come home as fast as possible or else he won't reach the time for the meteor shower. With that, Kett finally responded.

"Y-- Yes sir! T--h--Thank Y--You." Kett stuttery replies.

Mr. Puro laughed and said that he should have no problems with him, after all he was just worried about his safety. After that, Kett hops to his motorcycle and both of them have a nice conversation.

"Oh the assignment, be sure not to write it messily okay? I mean, I have no problems when reading it but try writing your essays as neatly as possible. You know I put plus points for students who write their essays neatly." Mr. Puro says to Kett while they're riding through the night.

Soon enough, he's now at Kett's apartment block, Kett thanked Mr. Puro for his kindness and both of them have parted ways. Kett is now walking towards his apartment, he's not far nor close to his room so it would be a no-worry for him. He notices that the Meteor shower already started, and is now frantically looking for his textbook to see what the questions were. He rushed towards a nearby light source, a lamp post with a bench beside it.

"Ugh, where the hell did I put my notes? Don't you dare that I left it on my desk. I swear I put it here--" Kett says as he desperately removes all of his stuff from his bag.

"Oh there it is. Phew, you gave me a panic attack. I would actually walk again from my school just to see if you're there." Kett says in his Chemistry textbook.

Kett's now looking at the questions that were asked.

"What is Angelus Lupos?" The first question states.

"Angelus Lupos is a meteor shower that happens once a year, during the months of October and November. They're distinguished by their colorful tails due to the meteor's differences in element composition" Kett wrote.

"What does it feel to see an Angelus Lupos meteor shower?" The second question that was asked.

"For me personally, it feels quite more vibrant and colorful than other meteor showers." Kett briefly replied.

As he was answering the third and final question, he heard a loud "BANG" out of nowhere, causing him to frantically panic.

"WAIT WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT?! OH HELL NO I'M NOT DYING HERE! IMMA HEAD OUT." Kett then runs to his apartment as quickly as a cheetah.

As he continues to run, he thinks about what the loud bang was about. He knows that it's not a normal occurrence in his prefecture to have those. After all, the place he lives in is one of the safest countries in the world, Japan.

Kett finally reached his apartment and he noticed that the front window was shattered. He knew someone broke his room. He had no neighbors at home when that happened, they aren't home yet due to them working at night.

"WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HAPPENING THIS CAN'T HAPPEN! I SWEAR IF ALL OF MY STUFF GOT STOLEN I'M DONE!" Kett angrily shouts.

As he desperately opens his room with his keys, he just hopes that this wasn't happening. He cannot lose all of his stuff in his room. All of those are important.

As he finally opened his room, what he found was different from what he thought.

His futon was full of shattered glass from the window, none of his stuff was stolen, and most importantly, he saw an unknown male person, about the same age as him, completely unconscious. Kett tried to wake him up so that he could explain what the hell happened in his room while he was in school.

"HEY! WAKE UP! WHO ARE YOU?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY ROOM?! ARE YOU EVEN ALIVE?! HOLY HEAVENS I CAN'T EVEN PAY ENOUGH FOR RENT AND NOW YOU DESTROYED MY WINDOW?!" Kett screams at the unconscious person, completely furious and panicking.

Kett continues to panic even more due to the fact that he's going to pay for all the damages this random person had made in his room. He only rents here, not permanently. Soon enough, Kett fainted. He doesn't know what to do or what tomorrow brings for him.

Time passes by. Kett dreamt another weird dream. It feels like he's in the afterlife again. He continued to panic.

"Wait, I can't be dead already! M--my uncle's going to be furious about me!" Kett trembles as he doesn't know what to do.

"Don't worry kid. You're not dead yet. It's finally a time where I can finally talk to you a lot longer than it used to be." A mysterious yet familiar voice replied to him.

Kett was surprised. He knows that voice but can't remember who it was. He asked him who he was.

"Who are you by the way?" Kett questioned.

"No need already, you'll know who I am later. But for now I'm going to tell you something." He responded.

"What is it then?" Kett mumbled.

"Your wishes have been answered. Take care of him and he'll take care of you." He responded.

Kett was dazed. He doesn't know what that person meant that his wishes were answered. Until he remembered something he just said yesterday.

"I wish I'll have a companion someday."

Kett is still thinking if he's talking to a god or something since from what he thinks, those are the only people who could make wishes come true. But if the person he talks to is really a god, he questioned.

"Who?" Kett asked.

"Wake up. That person's waiting for you already." The voice answered.
