A continuation of the story with my bf.

Ren said: There were still no dreams. Not yet at least. Something in the shadows of this world 'borrowed' it, not keen to give it back. Not yet at least. Nonetheless, if the theory of a dream was that of a vision of another version of themselves, then who would they be?

If Ren could hear it speak, its answer was: Nothing. For now at least.

They were far apart. For now at least.

"Town snow looks beautiful, hun." Ren said, muzzle glued to the window.

"Don't stick your nose too long or you'll get stuck there. Again." Fddhty reminded, shifting through another channel on the tv. Nothing interesting to watch, and if it was it would've been about Wolf Fangs again. Letting out a sigh, glancing over to Ren in the hopes he didn't hear a bit of the news.

The tiger leaned back, his snout almost stuck to it like earlier today. Took a good pull from Fddhty and the push of his stripes on the window frame to pull himself off. Sure it was a goofy thing to do, as Fddhty would put it, but he had never seen so much snow out on the streets. It was afternoon, and people were strolling outside and on the road as no cars drove through them.

"What'cha see down there?"

"Neighbors doing neighbor things. They're shoveling snow down onto the road. Is that normal?" Ren could see a strongman feline using three shovels simultaneously, clearing the pavement of the white blanket. One for each arm, and one more for the tail to scoop up any he had left behind.

"Mhm, and a plow would come by later to pick it up. Or the youngsters make a fort out of it." He turned off the tv and joined his new partner, arms wrapped around the tiger's stomach. Ren's stripes peeked out from under his shirt and held his arms warmly.

"I love you." Ren reached back with his arm, aligning it with the mouse.

"I love you too, sweetie." His nose rubbed along the curvature of the tiger's spine, feeling his striped tail wag between them. "Don't you think you're forgetting something?"

Ren liked it when Fddhty circled his fingers around his stomach, flustering him to the point his stripes drooped from his fur. "What's that hun?"

"You said we were going to learn how to cook today, right?" Fddhty's muzzle found itself nuzzling the tiger's left cheek, before giving it a deep peck. "Gonna teach you how to prep and roast a pork belly."

Ren's horniness left his form, though his stripes stiffened and hyped himself up for such an experience. What replaced it was confidence and a more wholesome form of excitement. "Oh right, yeah." The tiger turned around to nuzzle his partner's nose, pecking his lips after and shot him a smile. "To the kitchen then?"

And with Fddhty's nod, they went over to the open kitchen at the other side of the apartment. He would pull out all the necessary utensils, such as knives, meat forks, thermometers, cutting board, and baking dish.

Whereas Ren himself gathered the ingredients from their cabinets, while his stripes went and fetched the pork that had been marinating in a ziplock bag for about a day. One of his stripes attended to the oven, "What temp should I preheat the oven to?"

Fddhty glanced over to the oven, "About three fifty, hun."

"Three Fddhty, got it." His stripe turned it, while himself and those that carried the marinated pork reconvened where Fddhty had assembled the preparation kitchen top.

"You are a dork." Fddhty stepped aside, pinching his tiger who yipped from it. His own ear flicked at the delightful noise he made, moreso now as Ren hummed while pouring out the pork onto the dish, slathering it with the rest of the sauce, squeezing it out of its bag.

"Like this, right?"

"That's the easiest part hun," Fddhty giggled.

Ren put the bag aside, and assembled the ingredients on the chopping board. An assortment of vegetables to season the pork more, such as onions, rosemary, and thyme; and to serve it with such as potatoes, carrots, and asparagus. The tiger realized now that these were the simplest ingredients he had seen outside the city, yet were the best to not only smell, but have tasted too some nights ago. Which actually prompted him to cook their lunch today; Fddhty's steamed fish dinner with marbled potatoes and cream sauce.

The tiger placed the onions in the middle, peeled and ready to be diced. One hand held it down, the other with a knife about to cut it. He was hesitant to do so, his hand moving side to side trying to avoid cutting himself without messing up the onion itself.

Fddhty approached and held his shoulder while holding his wrist steady and lowered it to the tip of the onion. "Just follow my lead, and you'll get this, okay?" He said, the tiger's stripes enveloped around him. "It's going to be okay, sweetie."

Ren's heart trusted his words while his mind remained clouded with doubt. His body had relaxed, and he started cutting the vegetable slow. The fragrant scent of onion hit his nose, and the subsequent chemical that made his eyes tear up. Though he also felt like crying tears of joy as the succeeding cuts were properly thorough, indicated by the knife's thwack on the board.

"That's it sweetie, you're doing such a good job." Fddhty aligned himself closer, his chin resting as his eyes watered up too. His ears listened to the fine chopping sound Ren made, and it went on with the thyme. Turning the leaves on its stem to shreds, while his stripes plucked the rosemary from its twig.

Ren gathered all these seasonings in the middle of the board, scooped them up, and sprinkled them over the cut pork. The rest of his stripes released his mouse, a quick pinch on the cheek for appreciation, before grinding pepper and sprinkling salt over it too. "Thanks," he said.

"I'll go set the table now," Fddhty went around him, one of the stripes opening the drawer of plates and silverware for him. "Thank you." He gathered two plates and pairs of forks and knives, setting up on the table just behind the sofa.

Glancing back, Ren had been cutting up vegetables in bite size pieces, tail wagging which meant he got the hang of it. He went back and checked up on his progress, which the tiger had gathered the vegetables by hand and placed them around the baking dish, half sunk in the marinade.

Fddhty commented, smiling, "Looking good for a first time hun. Next time, you could do it by yourself."

"You think so?" Ren answered excitedly, hopping where he stood while his stripes swayed to the motion.

"Calm down now tiger, you still got pork to roast." Fddhty opened the oven door for him, hot as it should be.

Ren used his stripes to put it inside, closing it up with his own hands.

"I forget, do your stripes get hurt at all?" He held one and ran his finger through it. Fddhty was never not fascinated about this aspect of a Colloquial Tiger. The stripes felt like compressed silk, strong and smooth, and he felt it pulse from his fingertips. It would look like it absorbed light, yet was black fur when it retracted itself to its host.

"Sorta." Ren shrugged, setting the timer to forty five minutes. "It'll hurt half like it normally would on my hands." He exchanged the stripes with his own, intertwining fingers with him. "But it exhausts me either way."

"I could clean the kitchen counter for you if you want."

Nah, it's fine hun," the tiger smirked, his stripes started to do just that. Far better and more efficient than having prepped the food. Giving him enough time to coddle around with his partner, kissing him deeply before doing so his neck.

Fddhty giggled, ticklish and slightly pushy, "Okay ya hornball, we'll fuck after lunch."

But Ren relented, hugging him tightly at the end of it. Paid no heed to their erections below, the sudden outburst of heat and the desire to warm each other up better had been replaced by worry.

Fddhty knew what it meant, and suggested themselves to the sofa. Where they both eased up, tiger laying down on his mouse's lap while the stripes were finishing up on kitchen duty. He lamented, "I'll say hun, your stripes are extremely convenient." Ought to try and ease him up first, "I bet you made the job at the post office much easier."

"Yeah, I did." Ren said, relieved at the thought. "They give me good pay, almost like a managerial position, but I understand why I can't exactly be 'promoted'. I'm just too good at it."

"As long as they give you a raise, right?"

"Mhm," Ren went on. "It's also good exercise."

Fddhty smiled, chuckling, "That's great. Explains the handiwork you've been doing." He thought back to the last few days that, despite a very productive day, Ren had become more and more energetic at cleaning the household, even while laying down on the couch.

There was a silence at first, and Fddhty retained that smile. But Ren said, "I will protect you, Fddhty." Which the mouse's smile turned the other way.

"I know. I won't let you get hurt, and I know you won't let him hurt me." Fddhty assured him, kissing his forehead. "Your friends are here. Dael's here, hell even the whole town's got our back."

Eyes to eyes, Ren let out a deep sigh. Fddhty worried his words didn't get through, they did. "Yeah." He smirked at that, and Fddhty's smile was as intense. "Is it okay if we could watch the news more? That way we could know where he is?"

"Sure." Fddhty switched it on again, and found the closest channel reporting on the Wolf Fang's whereabouts.

The downed cordoned off last month was still in the same manner, but every nook and cranny had been checked and double checked. Yet at night the creature went between roofs as found footage showed. Screaming in the background, authorities in winter clothing followed after.

"Maybe you could teach me how to cut more than vegetables?"

Fddhty's smile widened, tail wagging behind the seats. "Oh, it will be more than just knives hun." He said. And then he asked, "Have you ever shot a gun before?"
