HimynameisDuncan

The blush on his face was very very apparent. Despite his green scales and very light brown chin, the pink streaks couldn't be washed away. His heart beated louder remembering the goat's gentle wink at him that left him stunned for a minute. That beer-scented room earlier had become fragrant with wine; and the noise of party-goers had drowned out, and replaced by stringing harps tugging on his heart. He even remembered his jaw dropping as he slouched over the table, and the goat's bird friend asking if he was alright.

He responded earlier with 'I need to use the bathroom' and rushed to the one on the second floor, and there he was now.

"W-what do I do?" Duncan whispered to himself, and gripped the sink to steady himself. "M-maybe I should introduce m-myself to h-him.." he contemplated.

The flustered crocodile thought of ways to greet him. Maybe a basic 'Hi, I'm Duncan', or maybe a courteous 'Hi there, my name is Duncan'. Though he imagined himself playing it cool, leaning against the table and winking at him as he would then say 'Hey there handsome, I'm Duncan'. Though he didn't have the bravado for it.

Duncan then looked at himself in the mirror and took a deep breath. He let go of the sink and cleared his throat, his hand massaging it. Then he tried greeting with his normal voice, "Hi, I'm Duncan. Nice to meet you" with his hand reaching out for a handshake.

It felt natural, and would probably leave a good first impression too. Though he wanted to try a more exaggerated voice to make himself seem 'cool'.

"Hey," he said with a deeper tone, "nice to meet you. I'm Duncan." Though it didn't sit well with him so he simply went with the first.

Then Duncan panicked realizing that his next line was to ask him out. He reminisced about that loving wink. His mind scrambled, trying to steel itself to even try saying a complete sentence with the words 'you, date, and me'.

He gripped the sink again, staring at his redder self in the mirror. "D-do you date me, want?" he shook his head embarrassed. He tried again with a louder tone, "Date y-you and m-me?" but he wasn't a cavecroc. Then he washed his face again and inhaled deeply, with the grape-scented air freshener not helping as it brought him back to the moment.

Duncan cleared his throat one more time, and stared at his reflection, "Hi, my name is Duncan," he paused to shake his head and focused once again "Do you wanna go out with me?"

And it wasn't so bad at all, he felt confi--

"Hey man." a light voice spoke, followed by a gentle knock on the door. "I don't wanna be that guy but I have to use the bathroom real bad, sorry."

"A-alright," Duncan twisted the knob and stepped out, "I am so so sorry." he clasped hands and slightly bowed at him.

The griffin hurriedly entered, stepping beside him and gave a thumbs up, "No worries dude, good luck with whoever you'll ask out." and the door was closed shut followed by the lock click.

And it was then and there Duncan felt a 'now-or-never' moment as he walked towards the stairs. The dubstep party music only made him anxious as the bass mimicked the sound of his nervous heart. Each step downwards, closer to the goat, amplified the tension of asking him out.

"What if I mess up?" he worried. There wasn't another person who looked at him the same way that goat did. Especially not from someone so cute; that brown and cream fluffy colors, with those perked up goat ears, and adorable blue eyes as he smiled with a wiggling pink nose. The glasses just add to his cuteness as he wore them when he winked earlier; then the reveal of him taking them off for a moment just--

"C'mon Duncan, focus." he said to himself as he was about to turn into the room he saw him. "Oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh," he felt a warm flush all over his body as he stepped into the room.

The other partygoers had stepped out, except for the cutie goat still chatting with his bird friend. Duncan stopped in his tracks as he had forgotten how to speak. He trembled as his face felt flush with anxiety and, adoration of the handsome goat just steps away. In fact he was three footsteps away from them.

"Hey, are you alright?" the handsome goat approached him, with his friend following behind. "Do you need some water? Need to take a seat?" he gestured to the stool his friend sat on earlier.

This sweet gesture of concern clicked something in him, blurting out, "HimynameisDuncan." And he immediately covered his mouth as his face was at its most flustered state.

"My name's Eddie, it's nice to meet you Duncan." Eddie replied happily, and offered a handshake.

The flustered Duncan accepts, and shakes it softly. Eddie's hand was firm, yet gentle and warm. It was soft to the touch, and felt sincere to hold. His mind raced to the fantasy of having to hold this hand for a long time, not wanting to let go.

Duncan then tried to speak, with his mouth left hanging opened when he squeaked.

"Yes?" Eddie patted his hand with his other. "Don't be shy, we're just chilling here."

"Date, you and me?" Duncan blurted out, and covered his own face on the realization of what he said. He even heard Eddie and his friend laughing as he feared for the worst. He definitely messed up, he really really di-

"Sure!" Eddie answered, holding both the crocodile's trembling hands. He eased them away from his flustered face, yet holding them both seemed to have flustered him more.

"Really?" Duncan was glad, and invigorated by his answer. "Eddie, Duncan, date?"

"Yep," Eddie nodded, "how does next week sound?"

"SureI'mfreethenohmygoshthankyou." Duncan blurted out again, looking away embarrassed.

"You're funny and adorable," Eddie giggled alongside his bird friend. "Quite the first impression you made, and I like it."

Duncan then whispered, "I like you." as he gazed into Eddie's azure eyes.
