#1 of Other gutpunching stories

In his private chambers in his father's castle, the young Prince of the Koopas, Bowser Jr., is lifting a pair of 10kg dumbbells.

For the last two to three weeks, Bowser Jr. has been receiving more and more equipment for physical training in his room, and even other kinds of equipment such as boxing gear, a sandbag, and a fighting ring, all of them being gifts from his father. Whenever Bowser Jr. uses one of those objects, his father's words resonate through his mind.

"Listen, son." Bowser said. "I appreciate your interest in tinkering devices for maximum effectiveness, but you have to understand that, at some point, even the best of machines will fail, and you will need something else to rely on when that happens. And for that, I think you are already at a good age to begin training your body. You have a priviledged body build from the Royal Koopa family, so you better make good use of it!" The King of the Koopas said in an increasingly cheerful tone.

Bowser Jr. initially disagreed with his father's idea, but after enough insisting, he decided to try out the equipment Bowser gave Junior as a gift. Bowser Jr. quickly warmed up to the idea and even eagerly asked his father to bring him more types of gym equipment, such as weights, exercise bands, etc.

After a few days, Bowser Jr.'s routine had changed drastically. He would get up early every morning before his princely work started, eat breakfast, then go straight into the weight room to lift heavy things like dumbbells or barbells. After lunch, Bowser Jr. would work out on the punching bag until dinner time. On other days, rather than training his arms and punches, he instead trained his abdominal region through sit-ups and crunches. When night came around, Bowser Jr. would often practice martial arts moves by himself in front of a mirror. Despite his short legs, he did not want to leave them behind and even asked his father to buy him a treadmill to improve his running speed.

The results were remarkable. By now, Bowser Jr. was able to bench press over 100 kg (220 lbs) without any strain. Training his pectorals allowed him to do push ups hundreds of times in succession. His abdomen was getting stronger and tougher, allowing him to withstand pain and stress much longer than before. In terms of his legs, Bowser Jr. could run faster and further, which made him very happy indeed.

However, despite all these changes, Bowser Jr. still felt dissatisfied in terms of his punching training. The punching bag worked as a target, but he felt like it lacked feedback. That the fact the punching bag was inanimate didn't allow him to feel if he hit it well or not. So, Bowser Jr. began looking for a different way to train his fists.

And so, Bowser Jr. approached his father. "Papa, with the punching bag you gave me I cannot know if I am hitting it right or wrong." Bowser Jr. told his dad. "It is boring to just punch at a piece of cloth."

Bowser rubbed his temples. "And what do you want, son?"

"I need someone living so that I can get a reaction from my fist! Is there anything like that?!" Bowser Jr. shouted at his father.

Bowser thought for a moment. "Well... I guess something like that could be arranged." He smiles. "It is possible that you could get someone to take the role of your punching bag..."

Bowser Jr. smiled back at his father with excitement in his eyes.

That being said, Bowser raises his hand in order to cool his son's anticipation down. "However, son, there will be some conditions for this would-be living punching bag for you."

Bowser Jr. nodded in understanding.

Bowser continued: "First off, it must be a citizen from our Kingdom, so you will not hop on your Koopa Car and kidnap someone from another territory. Second, this individual must volunteer for this task - we might kidnap, but we don't beat up our prisoners. Third, as a way to teach you a bit about financial responsibility, you will have to use part of your monthly allowance to pay the individual's salary. And fourth, since this individual will get money off your pockets and will work for your personal growth, you must treat them with respect!"

Bowser Jr. nods in agreement with all the points mentioned by Bowser.

Bowser then continues with a smile on his face. "Let's see if you understood quite well... what are the conditions?"

Bowser Jr. summarizes: "I have to find a person who wants to become a punching bag and give them a contract to sign. I have to use the money from my allowance to pay their salary. And finally, I must treat them well and give them the possibility of resigning if they want to quit the job. If the individual agrees to all the requirements and signs the contract, then I may start working on."

Bowser nods. "Some of those points were not among what I mentioned, but I agree with them wholeheartedly." He then points at his son. "Now it's up to you how you want to look for volunteers. Whether you want to do it yourself or ask someone else to bring you options, it's up to you."

"Of course, Papa!" Bowser Jr. says eagerly and leaves the throne room.

The young prince does not have enough time to train, do his princely duties, and at the same time scout for potential volunteers, so he pulls rank and orders the elderly assistant Kamek to look for them for him. Bowser Jr.'s conditions are simple: young adult, able-bodied citizens of Bowser's kingdom, with some degree of physical training and with the willingness to withstand punishment from the Prince of the Koopas.

Meanwhile, Junior continues training. His young body is more receptive of training, and he can feel how he's slowly bulking up bit by bit. His torso does not show much, yet, due to his Koopa physiognomy, but his arms and legs have showed some level of development and tone.

Every two or three days, a hurried Kamek returns with a group of volunteers for Bowser Jr. to assess. The selection process is not easy, however, as Junior looks for the ideal training partner. Many of the candidates are too scrawny to him, have little to no body to actually punch (some of them even being Boos), have never really taken a punch head-on before, or think they can take on the prince just because they have a suspiciously boot-shaped bruise on their bodies.

It takes around a month of training, candidate selection, and increased frustration for the spoiled boy to finally spot the one being he thinks is the ideal to take his punches.

It's a fairly unassuming red-shelled male Koopa, but what got Bowser Jr.'s attention is that the Koopa was wearing his own boxing gear - red gloves, and equally red trunks whenever the Koopa removed his shell. In terms of musculature he does not look much different from the regular Koopa but he does have a minimal amount of extra bulk.

"YOU!" Bowser Jr. yells at the candidate. "You are the one I've been looking for to become my punching bag!" He yells as he smiles.

The Koopa looks at himself. "I'd be most honored to help you train, sir." He bows.

"Ah, don't be so formal." Bowser Jr. waves his right hand in dismissal, then looks behind him. "Hey, Kamek! Bring this guy the contract!"

The elderly Magikoopa arrives with a roll of paper, which he gives to the Koopa.

He looks at the contract. Most of it is to be expected - he's meant to work from 6 PM to 8 PM every Monday and Thursday alongside the usual clauses of contracts in the Koopa Kingdom, including vacation and sick days, alongside some special clauses like being allowed to use the castle's features such as the infirmary, dining room, or bathroom. And then there's the pay: 750 coins per workday.

The Koopa widens his eyes in amazement upon seeing the pay - most jobs give this kind of payment per month! "This is too much money!" The Koopa humbly says.

"Not for a prince." Bowser Jr. says arrogantly.

"It was King Bowser's condition, actually." Kamek says. "Since you are deliberately taking on a job of getting beaten up--"

"SHUT UP, OLD MAN!" Bowser Jr. yells at Kamek.

The Koopa has been mostly ignoring their bickering, and after wholeheartedly agreeing to the terms of the contract, he proceeds to sign with it. His signature is his own name, "Sheldon", and he somehow managed to make a legible signature while not taking off his boxing glove.

Once he signs the contract, Bowser Jr. takes it and looks at the signature. "Okay, 'Sheldon'..." He smirks. "I'll be seeing you next Monday at 6 PM. Hope you can last those two hours!"

Sheldon nods and walks away. Today's Friday, so he has two days to get prepared for the round of pummeling he has agreed to receive.

The next Monday, at 6 PM, and as requested, Bowser Jr. is greeted with the arrival of Sheldon, the Koopa. Sheldon is already not wearing his red shell.

Bowser Jr. greets him with a challenging pose. "Welcome! Are you ready for my..." Then he stops. He realizes that his father specifically requested him to be respectful and kind to his 'employee'. "How are... you... doing... Sheldon?" Kindness is not his forte.

"Yes, sir. I'm good, thank you." The Koopa answers calmly, but is clearly nervous about what will happen next.

"Excellent!" Bowser Jr. exclaims as he swings his arms in preparations. "You tell me when you're ready to take my powerful punches!"

"Uhm... where exactly are we going to do this?" Sheldon asks.

Bowser Jr. points at the roped square at the center of his room. "There, in that ring."

Sheldon takes a deep breath, and steps into the ring, and adjusts his boxing gloves and trunks in preparation. Bowser Jr. is eager to feel how the Koopa will react to his punches, but he doesn't want to hurt the poor fellow too much, or he might want to resign. He looks at his fist, which is now covered by his black boxing glove. "I..." Bowser Jr. gulps as he's not used to this kind of behaviour. "I will try to not go all-out as I want to see first how much you can take." He raises a hand.

"Do as you wish, sir." Sheldon says, still being too formal. "I signed for this, after all."

The Koopa feels a little bit of pride in the fact that his boss is actually trying to be nice. He closes his eyes for a moment before opening them again. "I'm ready." He says.

"Haha!" Bowser Jr. chuckles loudly. "Let's see how many hits you can take before you fall over!"

Bowser Jr. prepares to throw his punch. Sheldon stays in place, even holding the ropes tight to ensure he won't dodge or block the hit. After all, he's now being paid for getting punched.

"Ready!" Bowser Jr. says, throwing a hard right hook.

The fist lands on the left side of Sheldon's belly. Bowser Jr. might be very young, but he's Bowser's child. And that means that, for his size, his punches pack quite a force!

"Agh!" Sheldon yells out in pain and surprise.

Bowser Jr. throws another one, this time a straight punch to the face. The Koopa's head flinches back from the impact, but quickly recovers and takes it without any sign of discomfort.

The third strike comes a second later. It was a jab, aimed at Sheldon's chin. The Koopa's reaction is one of pure shock. A normal being would have been knocked unconscious after the third blow!

Sheldon, however, manages to stay standing, albeit clearly wincing in pain.

Bowser Jr. wonders if he perhaps went out too hard in these first punches. "I can dial the hits down a bit if you wish." It's one of the few times he felt genuine concern over who's basically a stranger.

Sheldon shakes his head. "No, I think it's fine like this for the first round. If you don't mind me saying so, sir, you are a powerful foe. You can keep hitting me for as long as it takes."

Bowser Jr. smiles proudly at his brave employee. "Well, then... let's get started!"

Junior resumes his routine with a jab at the middle of Sheldon's belly. Sheldon reacts with a slight grimace. But he remains standing. Bowser Jr. follows up with a series of jabs and hooks to Sheldon's body. He tries to do his best to take them without much issue, but the Prince of the Koopa's strength makes that job difficult.

"You're doing well so far!" Junior exclaims.

"Thank you, boss," Sheldon answers.

"Are you sure you're ready to take more?"

Sheldon feels his belly for a moment. "I... guess I can."

Not entirely convinced, Bowser Jr. decides to switch targets and leaves his belly alone for a moment, and goes for the Koopa's face.

He lands a cross on one of Sheldon's cheeks, which rolls a bit from the impact. The Koopa doesn't react, but just stands there and takes the punches with no visible signs of injury.

"You're tough as nails!" The prince laughs at his own pun. Despite the initial doubts, Sheldon seems to be up to the task at hand. He's not going to complain about getting punched, but he's clearly taking them seriously as well. "I've never seen anyone take my punches before! It feels impressive!" He throws a jab at the Koopa's chin. "It feels a lot better than punching that boring sandy bag." He chuckles.

"Haha..." Sheldon grins. "I can take a punch." His grin widens as Bowser Jr. continues to throw punches at him.

As much as Sheldon can take punches better than he looked like, consecutive hits on the face by someone of Bowser Jr.'s strength eventually makes him feel dizzy.

"Agh!" He cries out in pain as his knees buckle.

The Koopa turns around to see what's happening, but finds that he's already fallen over.

Bowser Jr. steps back. "I hit too hard." He says with a combination of arrogance and concern.

"I... guess so, maybe." Sheldon says as he takes a moment to feel ready to stand up again.

"But still!" The Koopa says excitedly. "That was incredible! I haven't been hit anyone like this!"

"Really? That's great!" Bowser Jr. takes those praises at heart.

"Yeah!"

"Anyways... perhaps it would be better if I don't entirely focus in one area at a time. Now I will alternate between punches to your head with punches to your body!"

Sheldon nods in agreement. "Good idea! Thank you for the advice, boss!" The Koopa gets back on his feet and prepares to get back into his role.

And, as promised, Bowser Jr., one hit at a time, alternates on landing his fists on Sheldon's face and gut.

First, a crossover to the Koopa's left cheek.

"Ah!" Sheldon yelps as some saliva goes off his mouth.

Then a straight punch to the middle of the Koopa's stomach.

"Ugh!" He moans in pain.

Bowser Jr. then switches targets once more, this time aiming at his right side of Sheldon's face. "Ow!" he yells out in surprise.

He follows it up with a jab to the left side of the Koopa's belly.

Sheldon groans.

Bowser Jr. then lands a hook on the middle of his chest.

Sheldon winces.

Then a straight punch to the Koopa's forehead, followed up with a jab to the middle of his belly.

Bowser Jr. then goes for another cross. This one hits Sheldon square in the jaw. "Arrggg!"

Finally, an uppercut to Sheldon's gut makes him double over to the point of falling. "Gah...!"

Sheldon falls to his knees, but manages to stand up again.

"You're doing well so far!" Junior laughs at Sheldon's efforts.

Sheldon signals his employer to wait for a moment - the Koopa needs to catch his breath.

Trying to behave as nice as his father requested, Bowser Jr. complies and steps back. He's sweating a bit as well.

After a few moments, Sheldon finally stands up. His face is red from the effort, but he has a smile on his face. "Thanks... for your compliment... boss."

"Are you ready to keep taking punches?"

It takes several seconds, but Sheldon finally straightens up and takes a deep breath. "Yes. Yes, I am."

Bowser Jr. clashes his fists. "Good!" He throws a series of jabs at Sheldon's body, alternating between the Koopa's sides, middle and upper abdominal region, and even his face.

It looks impressive how Sheldon is taking the hits, although the consecution of punches does not even let him process a single blow before he takes another.

"Agh! Ow!" He cries out each time the Koopa feels how the prince's fist connects with him.

It seems like Bowser Jr. is getting tired of punching Sheldon, because he starts to throw punches at random intervals.

It's becoming increasingly difficult for Sheldon to withstand the surprising strength of the young prince's attacks.

He tries his best, but he can't stop the boy's relentless assault.

Bowser Jr. throws a jab to Sheldon's face that makes him fall back into the floor.

This time, the Koopa is too tired to even stand. He looks up and sees Bowser Jr. grinning.

"I'm... sorry, boss." He apologizes. "I... can't really take more."

"You're kidding, right?" Bowser Jr. asks. "Why are you even apologizing? You did WAY better than I expected!"

"But... I just don't have the energy anymore..." Sheldon says weakly.

"But I hired you to take my punches and make me really feel if I was hitting hard and accurately, and you've done that!" Bowser Jr. is genuinely praising the downed Koopa.

"I... did?"

"Yeah! I didn't expect you to actually take so many hits, but I definitely felt the force behind them with your reactions! Now I REALLY feel strong!" Bowser Jr. flexes his arms.

"Thank you... boss..." Sheldon says as he tries to stand up. But he can't.

"Don't worry about it! Just rest!" Bowser Jr. tells him... and then he thinks. "I know, I'll take you to the infirmary for you to rest!" He's being part truly concerned about his 'employee''s health, and part wanting to show his father that he's doing what he promised in terms of treating his employees with respect.

Sheldon nods in agreement, and Bowser Jr. helps him up and walks him all the way through the hallways to the infirmary.

There, after a quick check-up to ensure the Koopa has no broken bones, he rests in a bed while Bowser and Bowser Jr. look at him.

"You know, son, I was actually watching the entire time." Bowser admits.

"Really?!" Junior exclaims in shock.

"Since he's your first official underling..." Bowser says while doing air quotes on 'official underling'. "I wanted to ensure you were really treating him well as the Koopa that is helping you improve he is."

Bowser Jr. looks at his father.

"You did well. For a first time, anyways." Bowser smirks at his son and crosses his arms.

Junior's face lights up.

"He's doing a fairly menial task." Bowser continues. "But it's a simple task like this that will help you understand the relationship we have with our subjects. We might be conquerors, but we are not heartless."

The two Koopas stare at each other for a moment.

"Now, let us go to the dining room." Bowser orders his son. "Let your partner rest."

"Yes, Papa." Junior says happily and follows his father out of the room.
