Maid Marian's Secret (Robin Hood)

Here's my second story for Fanfic February! :)

You can technically consider this canon to Disney's "Robin Hood". It's astounding too that despite Robin Hood being a part of furry culture for nearly 50 years, I've not found any fanfiction that goes this route. I hope you enjoy what I came up with!

Maid Marian's letter insisted he visited her in secret.

The fresh parchment didn't specify why, but Robin Hood held concerning suspicions it involved the wedding. Per English tradition, a bride-to-be and husband-to-be could not see each other precisely one week until the ceremony, in order to make the event evermore special for those to be married. One week would be spent composing their vows in private and eagerly awaiting to see their beloved again. For Robin in particular, no longer being labeled an outlaw thanks to King Richard, not seeing his fiancée for six days felt like agony. To the male fox, not being able to see his lovely vixen hurt. It hurt even more than the weeks and months hiding out in Sherwood Forest, not being allowed to see her for months on end, and only pine from a faraway distance.

Which was why the urgent letter really concerned him. What troubled his love?

Robin carefully waited until his bachelor party calmed down, then sneaked off into the woods outside of Marian's bedchamber window. A rather familiar action, if anything. Dusk have long since settled on the horizon, and despite knowing that the castle guards wouldn't arrest him on sight anymore, Robin dared not to make a sound. He remained incredibly quiet as he bolted from the trees and expertly climbed up the castle walls until he reached his fiancée's window. The nostalgia of it made the red fox smirk underneath the dim glow of moonlight. Hell, even his bushy tail couldn't stop wagging.

Then, he lightly tapped the glass pane. "Hello?" He whispered softly. "Marian?"

An all-too-familiar silhouette rushed to the window, which creaked open to reveal an all-too-magnificent vixen in her conservative nightgown. Her mahogany eyes relaxed at the sight of her fiancé hanging from her window and opened the pane wider enough for him to climb inside.

"Oh, Robin," Maid Marian happily pulled him into a hug. "I'm so happy you came."

Robin did not hesitate to return the hug. "Of course, I would come to see you, my love."

They pulled apart to stare in the other's eyes. The fox held his vixen's arms, only to gently caress her scarlet-furred cheek with his knuckles. She rested against it, then his strong palm until the question on her lover's mind was finally voiced.

"What troubles you, Marian?"

Maid Marian's happiness remained blooming, but something else bubbled forth. An ashamed, embarrassed whimper that turned into sniffling. This greatly worried Robin.

"Oh, Robin, it's so...so terrible," she said with tears forming in her gorgeous brown eyes. "I know our wedding is tomorrow, but I can't hold this in anymore. We will be husband and wife soon, and you deserve to know the truth: I have not been honest with you, not since the day we first met all those years ago, my love."

Robin perked his ears up high. His swishing tail stilled, then curled nervously.

"What do you mean?" He asked concernedly. "Whatever troubles you, you can tell me."

"But Robin, it...it's too painful."

A teardrop finally streaked down the vixen's left cheek. Her lips quivered as she relaxed her right cheek once again into his warm paw. The glow of a burning candlestick sitting on her nightstand reminded Robin of an angel, only his angel was deep in suffering.

"Listen to me, my love," he said to her, "I have fought soldiers, I have fought entire armies and battled through burning castles to free England and earn the right to be by your side. I have loved you since we were little children at play. I still love you. Whatever this secret of yours is, Marian, I will never stop loving you. I love you more than life itself."

It panged him to see Marian like this. Without waiting, he guided his bride-to-be into yet another hug, so she could let out all her sadness. He didn't even care one bit if her sobbing left tearstains on his tunic.

"If that is the case," Marian spoke up after composing herself, "then may you sit down, please? Trust me...you will not want to be standing, Robin."

"Whatever you say, my love," Robin smiled softly to her, then turned to relax himself on the edge of her luxurious bedframe. His eyes dared not to look away from Marian, not for a lone second. "Now tell me, what troubles you? I hurt to see you like this."

"It...it is a long story," she fidgeted with her fingers, eyes downcast to the stone floor. "I want to know that I never planned to hurt you, Robin. I could never hurt you, but this...I was worried once I told you the truth, it would make you angry and drive you away."

"My love, you are the most wonderful vixen in all of England," Robin insisted, "How could you possibly make me angry? We love each other, don't we?"

"Oh Robin, I do love you!" She nodded worriedly, her tail curling around her ankles. "But it is wrong for me to be attracted to you, not because I am royalty and you are not, but because...because...let me show you why."

To the former outlaw's astonishment, Marian began to peel down her nightgown.

"B-But Marian," Robin squeaked out like a bashful, blushing altar boy. "We can't consummate our love until after the wedding tomorrow morning!" He covered his eyes as she failed to listen to him, and by the time the fox heard the sound of a nightgown touching the floor, he also heard her sniffling. "M-Marian?"

"Please..." she implored him, "You deserve to know."

He failed to resist peeking. He carefully lowered a finger until he could fully see.

Marian's eyes remained cloudy with anxious fear. Her cream-colored fur shimmered like snow amidst the gleaming candle nearby, trailing down her collarbone to what Robin at first figured to be a pair of smaller-than-usual breasts with dainty nipples. Piercing through his lust at finally seeing her bare chest, Robin almost reassured Marian that he didn't care about the size of her breasts. He stifled his tongue though. He glanced down the vixen's feminine curves, past her navel and midriff until his widening eyes ultimately stopped at her torso.

Or rather, his torso.

Robin Hood expected many things. What he didn't expect was the sight of his bride-to-be standing before him without a stitch of clothes on, possessing a notable male member and scrotum where a vagina would be. Maid Marian...was no maiden.

"Marian," Robin gasped in shock, "You're a...?"

"I'm a boy. I've always been this way."

Robin found his mind reeling in disbelief. Everything he assumed to be fact and fiction were beginning to blur together as the fox tried to wrap his head around the sight standing in front of his own two eyes. He greatly listened to the fox's words though, and examined everything she--he?--said next. Doing so helped ground the former outlaw to reality.

"My father, and my mother are the reason for this," Marian explained. Fox ears remained downcast towards the floor, yet Robin's fiancé carried enough strength to look him in the eye. "It all happened before we ever met....my mother already birthed three boys before I was born. The eldest was named Brian, the second-eldest Russell, then...then little Sean. I remember how devastated Father was when Brian and Russell died fighting in the previous Crusades. It wasn't until Sean died in combat that Father insisted that I be raised as his daughter. He couldn't stand to lose another son to war...not again."

Maid Marian's trembling voice started to settle. The fox's voice slowly revealed a hint of masculine baritone, if only a little. Meanwhile, the bride-to-be's paws switched between covering his shame, then recognizing the pointlessness of it.

"I can't...I can't even remember my birthname anymore, only that it began with an 'M'. Michael or Marcus, which then turned into Marian. My memories before...they're hazy. I only remember being told to wear girl's dresses, lower my voice to a soft tone, never to act like I was anything but an innocent little vixen as I grew up. Once my aunt married His Majesty though, and I became a member of the royal court as a result, the need for deception only grew. Such a scandal would've made my family and the Crown a laughingstock. Once Mother and Father eventually passed, Klucky was left as the only person who knew the truth...until you."

"Lady Kluck knows?" Robin Hood finally spoke up. He chuckled in disbelief and swished his tail at the floor. "It makes sense...also explains why your parents never took a liking to letting me be more than a playmate to you, but why is Lady Kluck...not against our marriage, if she's trying to protect you?"

"She sees love as love, no matter the gender. She has a younger brother back home in the Scottish Highlands who is, let's say a confirmed bachelor," Marian tried to giggle, only to sigh as she whispered, "I suppose like me..."

Robin stared at Marian she--he, right?--stated what had been outright hinted towards since revealing what rested between those supple, slender legs. Shaking his muzzle slightly, he remained still on the bedside as the two foxes waited for someone to talk.

"What now then?"

"M...Marian--"

A knock at the door suddenly startled the two foxes.

"Marian, why aren't you in bed?" Lady Kluck asked as she entered the room.

Robin Hood instantly leaped off the bed and jumped out the window to grab his rope, offering one final look to Marian before disappearing down into the night. Too late for the fox though, Kluck witnessed a glimpse of her lady's fiancé's trademark hat as it vanished, as well as her lady hastily redressing back into her nightgown.

"M'lady..." the Scottish hen realized what had transpired, "Was that Robin?"

"Yes, Klucky," Marian wiped a tear from her cheek. "He knows the truth about me."

The ceremony went as planned the following morning. No word from Robin Hood suggested anything about calling the wedding off or postponing it. So, Maid Marian proceeded into her wedding dress, allowed Klucky and her bridesmaids to fix everything to perfection, then showing off her dress to Sis, Tagalong, and Mother Rabbit as the former two presenting their flower girl clothes to her. They looked so cute, and Marian nearly cried when Sis called her the most beautiful bride in all of the kingdom.

Everyone in Nottingham was in attendance. Nobody would ever dare to miss the marriage of famous outlaw Robin Hood to his childhood sweetheart. Every peasant, noble, soldier (some of whom awkwardly once used to fight Robin and his men on a regular basis), blacksmith, weaver, farmer, and craftsman packed the modest church as one of Friar Tuck's mice signaled for the bride to finally enter.

Uncle Richard escorted her through the nave as a thousand guests watched her graceful, choreographed strides. She stilled her breath, calmed her curled tail, then walked inside to the tune of choir singing, only to falter in both relief and surprise at seeing Robin. He wore a white tunic with a charming brooch he'd insisted on matching hers. He stood so handsomely on the altar; it made cheerful butterflies flutter in the vixen's stomach.

When Marian eyed the fox, he smiled joyously at her. He did not denounce his fiancé as an abomination in a Church of God, let alone as a crossdresser before the city's residents and King Richard himself, but instead offered his paw as her uncle exchanged subtle nods with the valiant fox about to marry his niece.

"Treat her well, or else."

"As long as I shall live, Your Majesty."

"Good. I expect nothing less."

The ceremony commenced without issue, yet while Marian held a dozen questions that she desperately wanted to ask Robin, some of them slowly began to be answered as she was lost in her own happiness. He chose to not to postpone the wedding. He chose not to expose her true gender to the church, let alone His Majesty, or Little John, or anyone else in the kingdom. He still looked at her as if nothing else had changed from that night.

Vows were exchanged, the closing speech by Friar Tuck finished, then he proclaimed how Robin may kiss his wife. Marian had expected at best a chaste kiss, but no. He kissed her like the first tender one shared between them all those years ago; passionate, romantic, and warm, just like his Robin.

Everyone cheered for the duo as they exited the jubilant church, bells ringing overhead and rice thrown as Marian all but forgot her troubles. This was her happiest day after all. Upon entering the carriage and the horses lurched it forward down the winding road, Robin closed the blinds shut to offer themselves privacy. He didn't stop beaming at his wife. Still, the fox did grow concerned when she stared at him in utter confusion.

"Marian, what's the matter?" he asked with a folded ear, "Aren't you happy?"

"Of-Of course I am," she answered. "I am so, so, so happy. But...why aren't you disgusted with me? This morning, I woke up fearing the wedding would be canceled and the rest of Nottingham and England would be told about Robin's wife-to-be being a...a crossdresser." She gathered herself and promised not to break down, not in front of her husband. "I thought you would be shocked and angry at me."

Robin's smile faltered at first, but after placing his paws on hers, and noting how they still felt perfect around his, he sighed. Squeezing them and holding them, the fox stared back into her mahogany eyes once more.

"Truth is, I was," he confessed. "I was shocked, I was somewhat angry, but never at you, Marian. I could never be angry at you. After I left your tower, I couldn't fall asleep. So, I walked around Nottingham in the dead of night, letting what you told me sink in. After all these years, I never suspected...and it truly made me wonder if I ever knew you, really. I did feel...somewhat betrayed, and almost considered having the marriage annulled after the ceremony."

Marian's heart nearly cracked until Robin continued, "I could never humiliate you and thought it the best course of action, but...but then I watched you walking down the aisle, wearing this dress. I didn't see a male fox pretending to be female, but instead a caring, nice, and wonderfully kind soul who pleaded for my life when I was at death's door, who helped support the citizens of Nottingham in any way she could, who risked her title to join me in the woods and fight back against Prince John. When I saw you walking down that aisle, Marian, you were the most beautiful vixen I'd ever seen--no, you still are."

"I'm not though," Marian's male voice partly shined through. "I'm not a vixen and you know that. I'm not fit to be your wife, Robin."

"Of course, you are!" He caressed the back of her paws.

"There's other foxes out there though," Marian tried contending. "There's other female foxes out there who are better fit to be your wife, who can birth you cubs, and who can be a better companion for you without the secrecy."

"Maybe or maybe not," he shrugged, only to then lean close until their noses touched, and Marian's blushes matched her wedded husband's, "but they won't be you. They won't be you, Marian..."

At long last, her happiness shone through again as their tails danced in wagging tandem against the rocking carriage's cushioned seats. Without mulling any further, the overwhelmed vixen leaned towards the fox, and they kissed again. Their tongues fondly danced in affectionate passion, arms clutching the other and whimpering in romantic lust.

Robin was the first to pull away, giggling as he wiped off a strand of drool. "I love you, Marian, and I'll gladly spend the rest of our lives together."

"Oh Robin," Marian teared up again, "I love you too."

For the rest of their ride, neither let go of the other.

As a gift to the vulpine couple, and especially a token of gratitude towards Robin Hood for helping to take down his tyrannical younger brother, King Richard allowed them to honeymoon in a royal country house on the outskirts of London. The recently wedded foxes would be living there for a month while Little John, as their carriage driver and Robin's best friend, would be spending a holiday in the city. Ever since their first years spent fighting against Prince John, Little John had yearned for a vacation away from the woodlands of Sherwood Forest. A month-long holiday to London particularly seemed appealing to the brown bear.

"See you in a month, John!" Robin waved to his best friend as he drove the horse drawn carriage away from the front steps. "Have fun in London!"

"Farewell, John!" Marian waved as well.

"You be sure to have fun on your own, you two!" He told the newlyweds as he began to leave. "Congratulations, Robin! Congratulations, Marian!"

As the carriage disappeared into the trees, Marian started to walk up the steps leading into the regal country house, only to be stopped by Robin, who instead chose to pick her up. She yelped at first, giggling next as the fox held her bridal-style and effortlessly carried her up the steps before kicking the front doors open. The entire time, he laid soft kisses on her ticklish neck.

The country house's estate made up almost the entirety of a large, beautiful meadow surrounded by tall trees, yet the country house itself felt more akin to a modest castle or monastery. Robin and Marian were too focused on each other to fully appreciate the ornate interior, the husband carrying his wife up a flight of stairs until they arrived at the master bedchamber reserved for them.

The door was closed. The curtains drawn shut. Not another living soul lived within five miles. Robin and Marian Hood were now all alone in their own little world, together at last.

He graciously set her back down to stand at the foot of the luxurious bed. "Marian..."

She looked up at him in timid awe.

Both had dreamed about this day for ages, but none more so than Robin. On endless nights, he'd spent his time in private imagining his marriage to the maiden, then deflowering her on a romantic honeymoon, making love to her over and over until she became pregnant with their firstborn cub. Marian often talked about wanting to have kids, something he didn't fully understand until he learned the truth. She wanted kids because it would mean being a real woman in her eyes, but to Robin, his wife being a male did not make a difference in what he wanted to do. No, what they both wanted to do.

"Do you...really wish to...?" Marian tried to finish her sentence.

"I do, Marian," he replied with that loving smile. "I do."

She slowly undressed. Unlike the previous night, however, Marian didn't cry. She did timidly blush nevertheless, since it would mean they were about to consummate their love. Robin didn't look away this time either. He watched in lustful awe as his lover's wedding dress descended from that feminine body, revealing those curved hips, dainty perked nipples, and a steadily growing erection.

Licking his chops, Robin examined his lover up and down before undressing next. He gazed back at her without so much as looking away. His paws expertly unbuttoned his tunic, unfastened his necklace, then dropped his trousers and britches to the floor, standing as naked and bare before Marian as she was. He was? It did not matter anyhow.

Throughout her life, Marian had often wondered if she would ever marry. From her teenage years and into adulthood, the fox had been well-aware her feelings towards males and Robin in particular would be viewed as blasphemy; crossdressing aside, the biologically male fox would have been burned at the stake for marrying him, let alone having sex with him.

It did not matter though to either vulpine. They fell on top of the bedsheets and writhed in a passionate embrace. They lapped up the other's rivaling scents like wild cats to fresh milk. Both foxes erupted in moans and panting yips as they explored freely. Marian's soft fingers traced her husband's firm muscles as Robin's paws felt each centimeter of his beloved's body, from her hips to her navel and shoulders, then the racing heartbeat he felt upon groping her flat chest, to even the maleness throbbing at attention against his hip. Although the foreign sensation of another male's cock did feel strange at first, hearing Marian's cries of ecstasy after stroking it only made Robin grin. The vixen noises produced sounded like wondrous music. Soon enough though, he started eliciting baritone whimpers when the other naked male cupped his scrotum.

"I want you," Robin huskily announced. "I want to make you mine."

"I...I'm not sure I'm ready," she said, then clarified, "We will need something to help...ease you inside me."

"Easy solution," Robin grinned. "I'll be just a moment, darling."

He reluctantly climbed off the bed to reach into his wedding outfit's right pocket, coincidentally giving a confused yet flushed Marian time to admire her husband's rear end in the process. Within seconds, Robin chirped happily as he pulled out a small glass vial.

"Lady Kluck handed this to me earlier after the ceremony," he explained. " she said the olive oil will help us out, but to take it slow going in."

Marion couldn't help but giggle embarrassedly. "Klucky, you are a treasure," she muttered.

Taking things slow, they did. After spreading her shaking legs just a little wider and lifting her hips a tad higher to give him access, Marian bit her lower jaw while Robin applied the olive oil. He coated a gracious amount on his index finger and gently probed at her entrance. Ever the gentleman, Robin didn't rush events. He methodically went as slow as he could until the virgin fox's sphincter spread for his single digit, not wanting to hurt her. Luckily, he didn't, and the squirming cries she moaned out made them both even harder than earlier.

Another dollop of thick olive oil later, Robin held Marian as they locked eyes. Her thighs were wrapped around his torso as the erect fox loitered his aimed tip at her readied hole. His paws caressed around her buttocks and hers grasped his strong elbows, their hearts racing like Neither dared to move, save for their heavy breaths and a trickle or two of warm sweat.

He murmured, "Are you ready, my love?"

She nodded and whispered, "Please, make me your vixen."

Sounds of passionate whimpers and taboo lovemaking filled the halls; Robin panted mid-thrust as his shaft sank into her velvet walls, clenching around him as Marian clutched his biceps for support. Robin's legs widened as he hilted further into her. Marian quivered as his cockhead brushed her insides, sending lightning bolts of pleasure up and down her spine. A partial withdrawal and another thrust later, the two foxes were completely lost. They could only let their lust and love for the other take complete control. Any rational thought disappeared as they reveled in the newlywed husband's sole attention to his newlywed wife.

***

Hours passed until the day began to sink into the horizon. The angelic aura our setting Sun produced almost rivaled that of the afterglow in a certain country house's master bedchamber. Pillows, blankets, the torn bedsheets and around a quart of spilled seed littered around the occupied bed.

Robin's back relaxed into the soft, luxurious mattress as his tail tiredly swished between his legs, arms wrapped tenderly around Marian as she cuddled into his right side. Their slender stomachs rose and fell with each steady, blissful breath as they enjoyed the moment. The several hours spent making love over and over had led to the duo feeling quite sore.

One of the more surprising moments during their day-long consummation had been midway past the second climax. The two foxes were once again rutted when an idea popped in Robin's head. He's been watching Marian's chest be affected by his steady hip movements, wanting to soak in their lovemaking to committed memory, when he noted how her male-ish chest bounced at every single thrust. She had no female breasts, being a biological male fox and all, but Robin couldn't help but suddenly drool at witnessing those dainty nipples jiggle before him.

They appeared just so sweetly enticing and tempting to tease, so without slowing himself, he leaned down and affectionately licked one. It produced a breathy gasp of surprise. Smirking, Robin then licked the girly nub again, followed by a delicious nibble to the other untouched one. He couldn't get enough of each one, and Marian audibly let him know she loved the attention too, especially when Robin suckled them dry. Or when his fox fangs pulled on one and fox tongue tantalized the other in irregular succession. Or when he squeezed each hardened nub until Marian shorted out jets of fox seed all over her stomach and chest, with Robin not even blinking as he dutifully cleaned his wife. That certainly had her giggling, and not just in disbelieving amusement too.

Robin started to snicker. "What is funny, dear?" Marian asked.

"I just imagined you being pregnant by now," he said, to which she stuck her tongue out at him. "I'm serious, that one technique we tried an hour ago likely led to triplets."

"Oh, stop it, Robin!" She yipped when he suddenly pulled her upward and kissed her stomach repeatedly. Then, some nibbling to her midriff caused Marian to delightfully arch her back and swat her tail against his legs. "Robin, you scoundrel! Hehe, this is no way to treat a lady! What would His Majesty say about this?"

He finished his affections and stood up to kneel on the bed, guiding his vixen up to kneel too so they faced each other. Quietly, Robin ran his fingers through her headfur, his tail and ears fluttery and happy.

"He would say I am the luckiest fox on the British Isles," he touched his nose to hers as they exchanged another peck on the lips. "I am so sorry for worrying you last night, Marian. I love you, no matter your gender. You are still the beautiful vixen I fell in love with all those years ago, and I will gladly spend my whole life with you."

"Oh, Robin...I love you too," she teared up and nuzzled his cheek. "I love you so much."

So, they held close. Lifting his paws up, Marian blushed as her husband caressed both cheeks. Robin smiled back at his newly beloved, then smooched her. He didn't even register the fact that her spent erection had brushed his bare thigh, and only intensified the kiss more.

From that day onward, Robin and Marian Hood never stopped loving each other.

In time, trusted individuals such as Little John and eventually King Richard the Lionhearted would be told about Marian. Though shocked at first, as well as concerned about Robin's feelings on the matter, they promised to keep the fox couple's secret. In fact, King Richard would one day confide to his niece and nephew-in-law about his own attraction to male flesh. Otherwise, nobody else would learn the truth.

The official story given for Maid Marian's inability to give birth to a child came down to medical problems involving her womb. Robin could not bear to risk his wife's well-being simply because they were expected to have children. Rather, the foxes decided to adopt. Marian did end up becoming a doting mother after all, Robin became a caring father, and the two lived happily ever after.
