Chapter 3

"For the last time Rose, NO!" I said, starting to get aggravated.

'Come on!' I made my decision; I was done talking about this subject. For two hours, Rose had been bugging me repeatedly about where I had come from. I refused to tell her, but she continued to pester.

Finally, we arrived at Blackthorn City. I opened the door to the Pokémart and stepped inside.

"Hello and welcome to the Pokémart! How may I help you today?" A young blond haired woman said, beaming.

"I was wondering where I could get a job. I don't really have any money." I told her. Her smile widened.

"Are you pulling my leg?" She asked, laughing. I gave her a confused look.

"The question is; are you pulling my leg? I said I have no money!" I said, starting to get angry.

Her smile vanished as she saw that I was serious, "Then what is that?" She pointed at a card on my new belt. I slid it off and observed it. It was kind of like a credit card with a Pokéball symbol on it and a little screen in the center. On the screen, it said 999k Pokécash. I nearly fell over. That's the second time since I've come here that something like that has happened. Did Palkia leave these with me and I just didn't notice?

"You got me; I'm pulling your leg. I'm actually here to get some supplies."

"What do you need?" she asked, taking out a notebook and pen.

"A couple of potions, some food, five Pokéballs..." I continued to tell her everything I wanted. Luckily, it all fit in a backpack I bought and my belt. As I left, slightly weighed down, but not that bad. I jogged to the Pokémon Center next door. Of course, I was met by A Nurse Joy.

"Hello, I'm Nurse Joy! What would you like?"

"Hello Nurse Joy. First off, do you have a room I can rent for the night?"

"I have one room left. It's kind of small, but all you have is that one Pokémon and yourself, right?"

'Yep!' Rose said. Nurse Joy seemed confused by the change of voice, but went along with it. She booked us a room and handed as the keys.

"Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"Yeah, could you make sure Rose is okay? I saved her when she was being attacked 5 on 1, but I want to make sure she's okay."

"I'm sure that will be no trouble, but I must say, Rose sure is a rare Pok- wait, did you say you saved her when she was being attacked by five Pokémon?" She said, eyes widening.

"Yeah, I saved her from two Torterra and three Charizard." The Nurse looked faint as I gently took Rose off my shoulder. "Rose, don't be nervous. She won't hurt you if she knows what's good for her." Rose was shaking, but the second I said 'nervous', she stopped. She gave me a small smile as she was carried off.

As soon as she was out of sight, I sat down in one of the open-Pokéball shaped chairs. I was tense, as if my body thought something bad was going to happen. Turns out it was right.

A sudden burst of thought from Rose jolted me to my feet. 'ALEX!' I ran down the hallway where the 'Nurse' had taken her. As I burst into the room, I saw Rose being held down by a dog-like Pokémon with a pointed tail and horns on their head. A Houndoom!

'Nurse Joy' had changed dramatically. Instead of her gown and cap, she was wearing a robe tattered at the bottom with a red collar. She held a small device which I assumed would do something very bad to Rose. Before she could activate it though, I drew my sword. It came out of the sheath with a shinng. 'Nurse Joy' turned on me.

Fear lit her eyes as she saw who it was. She turned to run, recalling her Houndoom, but I kicked her behind the knees and her legs buckled. She crawled into the corner and slid her body up the wall. I placed the tip of my sword against her neck and she stared at me in horror.

"W-w-what are you g-g-going to do t-to me?" she stuttered out.

"Depends on whether or not you tell me how to contact Officer Jenny and whether or not you move.

She froze up and said, "O-over there, t-that machine. 911." She pointed to a machine that was like an open Pokéball but had a keyboard on the bottom half and a screen on the top, as well as six indents towards the side.

I walked over to the table and lifted Rose, who was shaking in fear, then turned on the machine and hit 911 on the keypad. The screen lit up with a picture of Officer Jenny. She said, "You have reached the Blackthorn Police Department, how may I be of assistance?"

"Officer Jenny, your assistance is required to handle a Nurse Joy imposter at the Pokémon Center. Please come immediately. My name is Alex. I have her handled for now, but please come soon, I have other things to attend to." I told her. Her gaze hardened.

"I see. I will be there in a few moments. In the meantime, please remove any and all weapons and Pokémon from her." The screen went blank.

I returned to the false nurse and said, "Remove your weapons, or I'll teach you the consequences of hurting my Rose."

She threw down her Pokéballs, then took two knives out of her belt and placed them next to her Pokémon. I kicked them behind me and pulled over a chair. As I sat down, she began to rise, but I growled and she sunk to the ground again.

I looked down at Rose, who was still shaking. "Shush, you're alright now Rosie." I said, trying to sound as comforting as possible. I suppose it worked, because Rose stopped shivering and snuggled into my chest.

'Thank you Alex.' I heard her say quietly. I smiled and gently stroked her head. I suddenly remembered Organization Darkrai, the whole reason I was here. I looked at the 'nurse'.

"So, I'm going to assume you're a member of Organization Darkrai?" I asked her. She jolted.

"H... How do you know of the Organization?" She asked with obvious surprise.

I simply gave her part of the truth. "Arceus sees all."

"That doesn't answer my question." She said.

"Well, let's see here. First off, I'm the one with the sword. Second, you deliberately attacked my Rose and expect me to answer your questions. And third, you didn't answer my question either. So I'd expect you do so."

"Fine, yes, your right. I am a low level member of the Organization."

"Why were you stationed here?"

"As I said. I'm a low level member. I am simply granted a few Pokémon and stationed here to capture and deliver rare Pokémon to the Organization. I would fake their deaths and transport them to headquarters."

"Where is your headquarters?"

"I don't know. They don't tell me."

"What's your name then?"

"Julia." I rose from my chair and walked over to her Pokéballs. I picked the first one up and released it.

"Not one word, Julia." Her Houndoom materialized. It looked around, prepared for a fight. When seeing no opponent, and hearing no command, he looked at me, confused.

"Where is the battle?" He asked in Poké.

"There is no battle now, Houndoom. Am I wrong to assume that you were stolen from your original trainer?" I asked.

He seemed a little taken aback by this, but all the same responded, "Yes. Why?"

"Take this, and return to your friend." I placed his Pokéball in his mouth and he ran off. I repeated this for the rest of her Pokémon until I came to her sixth and final one. A black and grey dog-like Pokémon materialized. A Mightyena.

After I had asked her if she had a trainer, she told me, "My trainer... he..." She began to sob. I felt such pity for her. She managed to regain her stature, and said, "He sold me into Organization without a second thought." My pity returned, doubled.

"D-do you wish to go free?" She nodded slightly. In the blink of an eye, my dagger flashed out of my boot and sliced the ball cleanly in half. She hesitated, and then ran off.

Just then, Officer Jenny burst into the room and pointed a gun at Julia. She froze up. Jenny cuffed her, and then said to me, "You have just captured a wanted Pokémon thief. She belongs to a secret group called-"

"Organization Darkrai, I know. The Pokémon she had I handed their Pokéballs to and they ran to rejoin their master. Now I must bid you farewell." Before she got another word in I stepped out of the door. I was about to close it, when a dagger lodged itself into the wood inches from my face.
