#3 of The Chronicles of Razial Drakken

Here is the 16th chapter--one more to go before the end.

Raz and Maz stood there in front of Strife, radiating incredible power. Strife was still laughing at this transformation, but their friends could sense the energy and trembled before it. It would seem that the races of White and Dark Dragons had shown themselves in their desperate time of need. They could scarcely believe it themselves, but it was happening right before them. All they had to do now was defeat Strife.

The Drakken Twins were clad in armor from head to toe but had different designs. Raz's armor was black as midnight and fully plated with spikes coming off the shoulder pads, elbow guards, wrist guards, and the toe of the boots. They added to the claws, already sticking out the boots. In Raz's hand was a great sword that expanded the length of his entire body by eight feet. The blade had a black fire burning about it, but it didn't produce any heat at all.

Maz's armor was as white as snow and half-plated with a clean edge design. Unlike Raz's armor, it didn't have spikes. Instead, the suit spoke of a sleek and efficient plan with crosses on the shoulder pads, elbow guards, breastplate, and knee pads. In Maz's hands was a double-headed ax staff that exceeded Maz's height by three feet. The entire weapon radiated heat like nothing else and had a colorful effect of a Super Nova. That was precisely what the weapon was made of. Elements of a Super Nova. This was quite dangerous because Maz had to concentrate on it so it wouldn't burn up the atmosphere.

"Strife! Your time on this planet is done. Leave, or we will kill you!" Raz said as he noticed his voice was unnaturally deep and aggressive. Or was it rough? He wasn't sure and let the thought go.

Strife laughed harder than before and said, "You must be joking. You weak, pathetic fools think you can threaten me. If I weren't going to kill you, I'd make you my court jester. However, I shall entertain your threat and say bring everything you got."

The air between them sizzled with energy as they stared at each other for the longest moment. Then, like lightning, all three warriors disappeared. At least they were moving too fast for the naked eye to catch, but onlookers could still see every strike made, sending out shockwaves with each one. The observers used their arms to cover their faces from the intensity and felt helpless before such power. It was incredible, and none of them thought it was possible until now.

Suddenly, Strife was struck hard and sent crashing into the ground, but not entirely. He was able to catch himself in mid-flight and landed in a crouch. He immediately looked up at the Drakken Twins and felt something hot on his lower lip run down his chin. He raised his hand and wiped it to find the black blood on his fingers. His lip was split open and bleeding. At first, Strife's anger swelled, but then he laughed out loud. He also noticed the dent in his breastplate as he laughed harder.

"I must admit. It's been a long time since someone was able to not only make me bleed but dent my armor, as well. Both of you have strengthened, so I will fight you at fifty percent power now." Strife said as everyone gasped except for Raz and Maz.

"Fifty percent?! You mean he wasn't fighting at full strength?" Rocky said, surprised.

"It doesn't sound like it. I just hope Raz and Maz can handle him," Buckner said as Blaze spoke up.

"Of course, they can. Have faith, guys. They won't let us down," Blaze said as everyone nodded in agreement and continued to watch the fight.

"Bring it, Strife! We can take anything you bring against us," Maz said as Raz nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, all three of them disappeared again. The sounds of battle could be heard from miles away, and the shockwaves grew with greater intensity. The pressure was so intense that not only did windows brea, but so did parts of the guard wall and the Pearl Tower. Their friends struggled hard against it, forcing them to move back from the onslaught. This fight was becoming more dangerous by the minute, and they didn't want to be in the wrath of it.

Strife fought with the Drakken Twins at full speed, ducking and dodging attacks while dealing them out. Then he saw an opening and grabbed hold of Maz, flinging him into his brother. He followed this up with a dropkick that sent both flying back into the ground. The ground shook like an earthquake and created a massive crater. Strife punctuated this by slamming into the crater, causing Raz and Maz to cry out in pain.

Raz, however, recovered first and rebounded off the guard wall, flying back towards Strife. Strife saw this coming and quickly side-stepped him, grabbing him by the arm and leg, and flung him into Maz, who came flying in to help. Both collided and went flying back into the Tower guard wall, causing it to crash down on top of them. Raz and Maz rose out of the rubble with only a few cuts and scrapes. They, however, knew something needed to change to defeat Strife. They realized that this fight was quickly becoming a game of chess. Each opponent trying to outsmart and outmaneuver the other.

"Raz! We must fight with some kind of intelligence here, or we will get our asses kicked." Maz said, and Raz nodded.

Raz then had an idea and wondered if it would work. He had to give it a shot. Raz activated his speed ability but found something odd when he did. The sight was so bizarre that Raz had to check to ensure he didn't see things. But he wasn't. He saw himself fly forward and saw Strife slice a sword into his future self. Then the realization hit Raz that he could now predict Strife's moves because of his Time Ability. He smiled and flew at Strife, stopping short of the slice and kicking Strife in the face.

Maz was watching this unfold, and it looked as if Raz had sped up so much that he began to phase. This was like leaving a shadow image behind, but it all flowed into one. Maz gets up and tries to run only to find himself instantly teleporting to behind Strife. Strife and Raz were as shocked about this as he was, but Strife soon recovered and tried to dish out an attack. However, this was blocked, and Strife flew up to escape from them. Maz smiled at Raz, who smiled and nodded. It seemed that Raz and Maz were learning about their newfound abilities throughout this fight.

"Raz, what happened? I thought you were the one with the special ability," Maz said as Raz shrugged.

"It looks like you have one too. Most likely because we were hatched from the same egg," Raz said with a chuckle.

Strife burned with anger and threatened to break through the surface of his well-kept demeanor. He didn't understand how these two could've suddenly gotten so powerful. However, something did look familiar about the coloration of their scales but try as he might, the memory always escaped him. Nevertheless, that didn't matter at the moment. He had a real problem and needed to handle it with care if it would be the last thing he would do.

"Heh! I'm actually thinking about life. How sad and pathetic I've become," Strife said to himself and looked down at the Drakken Twins.

Suddenly, all three disappeared again. Raz and Maz were finally getting the hang of using their new abilities and gave Strife a difficult struggle. He struggles to keep up with the Drakken Twins and becomes frustrated with every attack blocked through this fight. Notwithstanding, Raz and Maz had the first actual wound of this fight as Raz slices part of Strife's arm, and Maz kicks him in the chest. Strife flew and crashed into the ground, creating another crater similar to the Twins.

Raz and Maz stood there for the longest time waiting for the dust to settle. It looked like they finally could dominate Strife for the majority. But then, the ground rumbled violently as Strife blasted out of the ground and stared at the Twins in heated anger; the red aura swirled around him. He'd had enough of these two and raised his power to seventy-five percent.

Raz didn't like the look of the evil radiating off of Strife. The very air around him distorted and twisted in unnatural ways, and Raz wondered how much this world could withstand the extreme amount of evil. Raz wasn't sure but was certain that he didn't want to find out. One way or the other, they had to stop Strife before any more damage was done. He and his brother would make sure of that.

"Maz, we need to stop him. If he pours any more evil energy...." Raz started to say, but Maz nodded.

"I know. I see it. Let's put an end to this." Maz said, but that was better said than done.

"Yes, let us put an end to this," Strife said in a strange deep voice.

Suddenly, Strife disappeared so fast that the twins did not have time to react. He reappeared right in front of them and, before they could do anything, had their heads smashed together. Strife followed this up with a forceful kick that cracked the sound barrier and sent the twins flying not only into the Pearl Tower but straight through it. Raz and Maz cried out as pain exploded across their bodies. They landed in the Grand Courtyard and destroyed it in the process.

Raz and Maz rose out of the destruction that lay around them and staggered forward. This fight degraded quickly, and Raz had to end it. However, at that moment, a revelation came upon him so suddenly that he sang joyfully. He looked at Maz and said, "Maz, I figured it out."

"What did you figure out, Raz?" Maz said in a chuckle.

"I figured out what the prophecy means. It's so obvious now," Raz said as excitement filtered out of his voice.

"Yes, and what's that?" Maz asked and felt the same excitement course through him, as well.

"The Dragons of Light and Dark were created by the Archangels so many eons ago, and they have given us their power, Heaven's Light. Darkness is just another aspect of Light, and Michael knew that." Raz said as Maz chuckled out loud.

"Well, that makes sense now. So, we do have the power to defeat the Dark Forces that threaten us and this world," Maz said as Raz nodded and couldn't believe he didn't think of it earlier. It was one of the scrolls he had to study in his history classes, and he should've thought of it first. However, that didn't matter anymore. He and Raz knew it now and were going to capitalize on it.

Strife didn't understand why these two were laughing and didn't appreciate being mocked. His anger started to grow again, and he charged at the Drakken Twins. However, they were ready for him this time and disappeared from sight. All three clashed in combat while Strife tried to outmaneuver and outsmart his opponents. But no matter what he did, he could only land small attacks on his enemies.

"Is it just me, or are you getting slower, Strife?" Raz asked as this infuriated Strife to no end.

The onlookers cheered for Raz and Maz as they finally accessed complete control of their abilities. However, Strife was a cunning warrior and would be damned if these blasted reptiles defeated him. There was a sudden flash of blinding light as Raz and Maz covered their eyes but couldn't see anything. Suddenly, they both felt themselves being kicked back to the ground, and Strife quickly charged his sword.

Raz heard the charging of the sword and had to act quickly. He held his sword aloft and shouted, "DARK FORTRESS!"

Strife fired a massive energy beam that hit Raz's Dark Fortress that lit up when it made contact. The beam hit with such tremendous force that Raz was almost knocked to his knees and struggled to keep the shield up. The one good thing was that his vision had returned, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to see what awaited him. Maz looked up, and his eyes went as big as dinner plates, jumping up and taking flight.

"Maz, a little help if you don't mind?" Raz said in a strained voice as Maz smirked.

"Oh, well. I thought about going to dinner with Amber and...." Maz began jokingly, but Raz cut him off.

"Maz! NOW, PLEASE!"

"All right! Hold on!" Maz said as he flew up and held his double-headed ax staff out in front of him. "PRISMATIC SUN BLAST!

Suddenly, a beam as bright as the sun and sporting the rainbow colors shot forth, hitting Strife dead on. Strife screams out and goes flying back into the ground. Maz lowered his ax, and Raz released the Dark Fortress. Raz dropped to one knee as Maz landed right next to him.

"Raz, are you alright?" Maz asked as Raz looked up and nodded.

"Thank you for the assist," Raz said as Maz smiled.

"What are brothers for?" Maz asked as Raz snorted.

"To be a pain in my ass," Raz said as Maz laughed loudly and clapped him on the shoulder. However, the ground below their feet began to shake violently, and saw Strife blasting out of the ground, looking irate.

"STUPID REPTILES! Did you really think you could kill me?!" Strife shouted as Maz turned to him.

"Yes, actually, we kind of did." Maz mocked as Strife's anger grew so wild that the air around him became electrified. This brought Raz and Maz back to a severe mood as the very fabric of reality started to warp and twist out of alignment. Strife finally reached one hundred percent of his power as the burn marks on his skin disappeared.

Raz and Maz couldn't stand by anymore and charged Strife, but he only smiled. This made them even more nervous, and rightly so, as Strife suddenly arced out a wave of energy as both brothers raised their weapons in defense. However, the wave was so powerful that it exploded as soon as it made contact with their weapons. Raz and Maz went flying as they cried out in pain. But Strife wasn't done yet.

Strife suddenly appeared ahead of them and grabbed both by the horns, repeatedly smashing into each other. Then he threw Raz into the air and used Maz as a bat, knocking him fast into the Tower guard wall. After this, he punched Maz several times in the gut and began to spin faster and faster until they were nothing but a blur. Suddenly, Maz flew back through the Pearl Tower and down to the ground. Strife held out his hand, and his greatsword flew up to him. He wasn't going to take any more chances with these Dragons and was going to destroy this world once and for all.

The onlookers saw this and cried out for the Drakken Twins. Strife once again began to charge his sword as Raz looked up and saw this again. He struggles to get back to his feet and stumbles forward but knows he didn't have time to stop the attack. Suddenly, Strife launched his attack, which went quickly to the ground.

"NOOOO!" Raz yelled, but something happened at that exact moment. The energy ball was somehow absorbed into something or someone standing right under it.

"What the..." Strife said but was suddenly cut off as the smoke cleared enough to reveal General Bloodlust standing there.

"Well, hello there, boss. It seems as if you got yourself in a pickle; that is true," Bloodlust said as Strife looked even more frustrated than before, and he wasn't the only one. Rocky's anger soared as green energy started to swirl around him.

"Bloodlust, what are you doing? I was about to kill this pathetic world and these reptiles," Strife said as General Bloodlust smiled and laughed in a creepy voice.

"Well, boss, we have a problem that we do," said Bloodlust in an even creepier way.

"And what's that?" Strife snapped, becoming irritated with this conversation by the minute.

"You see, boss. I cannot let you destroy my food source, that I cannot. You told me that I could feast on the Dragons, that you did. But here I see you are," Bloodlust said as Strife had had enough of this and raised his hand to control him. However, nothing happened.

"What the...Why isn't this working?!" Strife said in outrage, and Bloodlust laughed out again.

"What's wrong, boss? Are you missing your precious seal? Yes, I think you are. Here, I will tell you what happened, that I will. See boss, when that Terrain Dragon used those spikes to stop me, I could've gotten out of them at any time, but I didn't. I wanted to see what he could do before I ate him, and it worked in my favor. Though it was rather painful, it was necessary to destroy my body to break the seal on my chest that it was.

"In essence, boss, I am no longer your slave, and I willfully let myself be destroyed. I severed my arm and tossed it aside so that one part of me would survive. Oh, yes, that reptile was a brave one, and it was a shame he killed himself instead of being joined to my power, that it is. However, I have him to thank for freeing me from your bondage, and now, I am here to devour you, boss, that I am. With your power joined to my own, I will be invincible, that I will," Bloodlust said as Strife looked mortified, and he wasn't the only one. Raz and Maz looked horrified by this notion.

"How dare you betray me, Bloodlust!? I shall teach you who the master is!" Strife said as Bloodlust smiled.

"Perhaps, boss, you should look behind you, that you should," General Bloodlust said as Strife turned around just in time to see a gigantic mouth swallow him up in one swift motion. Strife screamed out as he tried to fight his way out of it, but it was no use. The long mouth morphed back to Bloodlust's body which lay slumped over.

Nothing happened for the longest time. Then the ground began to shake violently as a black cloud accumulated over Bloodlust. Suddenly, he pulsed and seemed to double in size, now standing a good sixteen feet in a slump.

Raz's scales began to crawl as the fabric of reality threatened to rip apart from the energy waves. The whole area in and around Bloodlust started to radiate with electrical energy that sizzled and popped, arcing out in different directions.

"Maz! This is bad!" Raz said as Maz nodded and quickly flew over to the bystanders.

"Everyone! Quickly, get out of here now." Maz said as Buckner tried to interject but was cut off. "There's no time for questions. GO NOW!"

Suddenly, Bloodlust let out a roar as the energy around him exploded, sending out shockwaves that knocked everyone off their feet.

"See what I mean? Now GO!" Maz shouted as everyone began to flee.

Maz flew back over to Raz and landed right next to him. "How far are we in for it, now?" Maz asked as Raz raised his hand above his head.

"That good, huh?" Maz said as they realized themselves for this final battle.
