The First Trial > 2

They had only gone a few kilometre's down the road when Night and Sapphire ran into a small bit of bother. It started to rain, though it apparently wasn't happy with just soaking them, it quickly turned into something closely resembling a swimming match.

"Ahh, the Translator!" Night quickly reached up to his ear, and Pulled the device free, placing it within his pocket to keep it dry. Meanwhile, Sapphire was having problems of his own.

Ahhh, it hurts, it hurts, it ...... "CHAAAAAAAAR"

"Sapphire?" Night looked back to his new Charmander, and looked at him slightly confused. It was crouched over it's tail flame, protecting it from the rain. It was almost sitting upon it's own tail. His eye's changed from Muddy purple, to a Bright shining grey. He remembered something Trevor had said. If a Charmander, Charmeleon, or Charizard's tail flame was ever extinguished, the pokemon would die.

"Shit ..... " Night dashed over to his Charmander, and covered him up within his large coat. He heard a soft and thankfull Charr, and he felt happy again. He looked up and around. He couldn't see much through the thick downpour, but as they were close to the edge of the road, he noticed a small gap in the brambles. He crouched over Sapphire, and gently picked him up, carefull to avoid his tail flame.

Sapphire, realising that night had picked him up and that he was now resting against him, felt shivers running through his body at being this close to Night without him even realising it. He grinned underneath Night's cloak, and snuggled into him. He let out a small, yet very pleased and happy charr.

Night got a nice little warm feeling as he felt Sapphire snuggle into him. He grinned happily, and made his way through the bramble patch, carefull to avoid jostling Sapphire too much. As Night was going through the brambles, he encountered many Pokemon, most were scurrying around, trying to find their own place to stay dry. He saw some Lotad and Surskit that actually seemed to be enjoying the torrential downpour. He also came accross Pokemon that stopped what they were doing, and stared at him as he made his way past them. It was a little unnerving, but he shrugged it off as just something they didn't see too often. He hadn't gone too far in when he noticed a clearing, and several pitched tents. He ran towards them, hoping to at least get some room for his Charmander, when he saw movement in the corner of his eye, and then felt something heavy hit him to the side of his face, and finish it's connection with the back of his head. He fell forwards over his Charmander, shoving him into the icy cold mud.

Sapphire

Sapphire was woken from his cotented doze when he landed in the mud heavily, Night's unconscious form above him holding him down.

"Night? Night? Night, what happened? Night?" Sapphire poked his head out of Night's warm cloak, slitting his eyes as he looked around through the water surrounding them. He froze when he saw movement, and heard a Human speaking.

"Well Looky Here. It seems that feathered freak wanted some company tonight." The cruel voice laughed, along with a few other humans that weren't visible to Sapphire.

"Hey Troy, you think he's got anything Valuable on him?" asked a slightly squeaking voice.

The one known as Troy, and the one holding a tree branch, Sapphire noted, turned to the Squeaking human that was to Sapphire's right. "No George, I've lived with this Freak for a long time. If he had money, I would've known about it a long time ago." Troy turned his cold eyes back to Night's unconscious form. "But that doesn't mean he hasn't stolen anything. He grinned a cruel smile when he saw Sapphire's head peeking up at him. "And it looks as though Sceron was stupid enough to give him a Charmander. Didn't he Know that Charmander's were weak against water?" He unclipped a Pokeball from his belt, and tossed it into the mud. It exploded with white Light, eventually revealing a battered and beaten Totodile.

" to to " She said slowly.

It was very obvious from Sapphire's point of view that this Poor Totodile had recieved some cruel Treatment. He was shocked when he saw her get kicked under her tail.

"Get in there, and get me that Charmander!" Barked Troy.

The Totodile looked at him sadly, and sprayed him with a weak watergun attack.

He blinked when it hit. It didn't really hurt. Sapphire blinked in puzzlement, and Troy got angry.

"You Stupid Pokemon. I said go in there and get it, not stand way back here and squirt it!" He kicked the poor Totodile under her tail again, putting more force into it, and sending her flying onto Night. "Now Get Me That Pokemon!"

Sapphire winced as she landed, then screeched as she slashed his nose. Sapphire blinked and looked at the deep cuts that started just below his right eye. He looked up at her, and ducked back into Night's cloak as he saw that she had started to swipe at him again. She missed, and Hissed with feral rage. Sapphire cried as she howled at him. She had gone insane. What was he to do now? He thought back, remembering how Night had done those strange things to the Charmander's. He wished he had Night to help him now. He was poking into Night's middle when he felt something warm, but as he pushed against it, he noticed that it wasn't only warm, it was hot. He felt around with a paw, and cried out when the Totodile slashed his back through the cloak. He placed his paw on the hot object, and pulled it out of Night's tight grasp. He blinked at the glowing object. What was this? He clutched the flame pendant within his right paw, and felt a rush of warmth flow through him from it. He growled as his tail flame literally blazed with new strength. He crawled out from under Night, and Glared at the now obviously crazed Totodile female. He felt pity for her, but he knew that it wouldn't stop him from protecting Night. He ducked under her left paw as she swiped at him again, and he Whapped her with his blazing tail. She screeched and tumbled away from him. She held her side, which was now sporting a very obvious and painfull burn. He was confused. He didn't have that much power. He looked behind him at his blazing tail flame, and almost stumbled in shock. It was Huge! It flared a bright Blue Violet every time he swung it. He Screamed, and turned back to the female that had taken his distraction as an opportunity to Slash him again. He felt a tickle in the back of his throat, and he leaned over and coughed up some Bright Blue sparks. He felt funny. He groaned, and swiped at the Totodile with his tail again, then dashed back over to Night. He stumbled, and fell to his knees infront of him. He tried to shake the pendant from his right paw, but it was stuck. He tried to focus on it, and saw that the blazing white pendant appeared to be melting into his green scales. It didn't hurt, but the longer it did it, the sicker he felt. Sapphire cried, and turned back to face Night's rain drenched face. He felt like he was dieing, and he hadn't even made one move on Night. Now or Never. He placed his right paw upon Night's forhead, leaned down, and gently kissed him before dropping into the mud unconscious, his tail blaze slowly increasing in Brightness, Heat, and Size.

Night

It was cold, so cold, then he felt warmth brush his lips, and he felt a slight pressure. It stopped, then fell away. He heard cold laughter, and then a voice. A voice he knew.

"Look at it. That thing is so Sick! Did you see that George? That fucking Gay, Queer arsed Pokemon Kissed the freak! Totodile, I've changed my mind, I don't want any faggot assed Pokemon. Just kill it."

A squeaky voice said, "Yeah, for all you know Troy, the fucked up thing could be diseased, and that's why it's green."

He frowned within his mind, he knew a Troy, didn't he? Green? Sapphire? Wasn't it raining? He had been heading towards some tents with Sapphire wrapped up in his cloak. He had been running ...... and then nothing. His head hurt.

"TotoDiile!"

His eyes snapped open. Troy! He blinked in confusion at the green Charmander that was infront of him. That wasn't Troy. Sapphire! He looked around wildly. It was raining, and Sapphire was out in the rain. He didn't know why it was bad, but he knew that Sapphire shouldn't be out in the rain. It was very very wrong. He felt the side of his head, and winced as he felt a large bump and his fingers came away dark. He heard splashing, and looked up in time to see a Totodile descending upon Sapphire's neck.

"NO!" shield Shield SHIELD! He shivered and Winced as the Totodile hit the shimmering surface just above Sapphire.

"What the fuck? Charmander's don't have reflect."

Night Glared at Troy and his Buddy. He noticed that Troy was holding a tree branch in his right hand, and that just sent him further into his rage.

"No, I Did it. I may have let you go when it was just me you were picking on, but Sapphire is incapable of fighting, and you still want to attack him? Even kill him? I wont allow it!" Night pushed himself up from the slick mud. He took off his cloak, and wrapped it around his shivering Charmander. He spread and shook his now drenched wings. He strode towards Troy, picking up the frothing Totodile by it's tail on his way to him. He glared at Troy, and smiled with grim amusement when he backed away in fear after looking into his Black eyes. Even in the torrential down pour he heard the other one sneaking up behind him. When he judged that he was close enough, he Spun around, flaring his wings for balance, and round house kicked him to the side of his head. He turned back around to face a white Troy sitting in the mud. He raised the snarling and frothing Totodile in front of Troy's face.

"I believe that this is yours, yes?" He thrust the snapping pokemon to within inches of his face.

Troy nodded very slowly. "Y-y-y-y-e-e-e-s-s-s"

Night smiled a humourless smile, and tossed the crazed pokemon onto Troy. He grinned as it immediately started clawing and biting Troy before he managed to return it to it's pokeball. Night leaned in real close, and whispered just loudly enough to be overheard in the rain.

"If I ever, Ever, see you anywhere near my pokemon again, I will kill you, and release your pokemon into the wild. Am I understood?"

"Yes Night."

"Good." He turned around, and quickly walked back to Sapphire. He shattered the shield over Sapphire, carefully picking him up, and Walked to the centre of the clearing. He spread his wings to make sure he had enough clearance, looking around for anything that might impede him. Seeing nothing wrong, He spread his wings to their very limit and jumped, pumping downwards with his wings at the height of the jump. He grunted, and kept flapping, eventually getting clear of the trees. He knew if he kept this up in the rain, that he'd eventually pull a muscle, and if that happened in the air. Night shuddered and kept flapping. He looked down through the rain, noted where the road was heading, and flew faster, trying to get to Goldburn before his wings gave out. He heard a whimper, and looked down at Sapphire. He widened his eyes in shock and fear. Sapphire was Hot, and he was starting to glow a bright Blue Green. Night finally noticed Sapphire's tail Blaze. It was huge! It was nestled right between his legs, but he wasn't getting burned. It gave him an uncomfortable feeling, but it didn't hurt. He looked up, and dodged a Spearow, doing a barrel roll. He lost altitude, and had to flap alot harder to get back to his original altitude. There! He saw the light's of a City through the rain. He hoped it was Goldburn, but either way most cities had pokemon centre's. He flew to within a few metre's of the city entrance, then slowed down, he hovered, and dropped as slowly as he could. A few metre's before reaching the muddy ground, he felt a sharp pain in his right wing. He yelled, and tucked it into his side, dropping immediately to the muddy ground. He slipped as he hit, and almost lost Sapphire, but he gripped the Charmander tightly and righted himself. He ran to the city gate, and was immediately pissed off by a gate guard that was sopping wet, and refusing him access to the city at this late hour.

"Listen Hear, I have just been attacked, my Charmander is barely holding onto his own life, AND YOU WANT TO REFUSE ME?" Night Glared, and pushed past the guard, and into the city. "Where's the Pokemon Centre?"

"Two blocks up, look for the red dome on your right." The mollified guard replied.

Night at least had some decency left in him. "Thankyou sir." He ran off to the Pokemon centre, desperate to get his blazing hot Charmander under control. He ran, hugging Sapphire to him. There! He saw it. It was big, it was big and red. He ran into the well lit lobby of the Pokemon Centre. He immediately noticed the lack of rain as he ran up to the front desk of the warm lobby, sopping wet and dripping all over their clean floor. The nurse on staff blinked when he placed his glowing cloak upon the counter.

"Please miss, Sapphire's hurt, and he needs serious medical care."

The nurse looked at him as if he was crazy. Seeing nothing was being done, he opened the cloak, exposing his now very light green Charmander, it's freely bleeding muzzle and it's Bonfire like tail flame. Both he and the nurse were dazzled by the intense light that it was giving off.

"Please ..." He looked over at her with his blue eyes.

The nurse nodded, and pressed a switch under the desk labled Critical Emergency

Several Chancey and Blissey ran into the room, followed by a sleepy nurse Joy with a metal gurney.

"What's the big emergency Nurse Betty?"

Nurse Betty turned to Nurse Joy, and motioned to Night and Sapphire. "This trainer came in with his Charmander, I've never seen anything like it." Joy opened her eyes, and woke up more when she heard the fear in Betty's voice. Upon sighting the Charmander, she immediately rushed over to the desk to examine it.

"What the Frigid Realms happened to this poor Charmander?" She glared at the winged entity that had brought it in. "It's green, and it's seriously hurt!"

Night Glared at her. "That's his natural Colour, and we ran into trouble when I was trying to get him dry, but instead of bitching, could you please help him before he dies?"

Nurse Joy, somewhat taken aback, reconsidered her opinion about this person. She grimaced, she wasn't seeing things, he did have wings, and they were dripping wet.

"CHAAAAAANCE!"

"BLIIIISSSSSS!"

Nurse Joy looked over to the egg and happy pokemon, while she had been studying the ..... person ... they had been trying to load the Charmander onto the gurney, when they dropped him, it appeared that he had burnt a hole right through the metal when his tail flame touched it. She frowned, that wasn't right. That metal was rated for close to fourteen million degrees fahrenheit! How could this little Charmander reach that degree of heat without incinerating everything on the planet?

Night growled as he saw that there was Still nothing being done. He walked around and picked up Sapphire, shocking the others as he held onto Sapphire's tail without getting burnt. "Where are we going?" The nurses just stared at him, almost like he'd grown a second set of wings or something. He flapped his left wing at the assembled human's and pokemon. "Where do you want him?"

Nurse Joy turned around, and headed back in the direction that she had come from. "Follow me." She walked in under the huge doors. She went down the long narrow corridor that was bathed in the fake illumination of several Fluro's ligning the roof of the corridor. She turned into a room marked 'Extreme Heat Treatment Room'

Night followed Nurse Joy into the room, wondering what she was doing here. Sapphire didn't need heat, and he wasn't giving off a large amount of it, so what were they doing here? He followed Nurse Joy to what looked like an Incinerator.

"Place it in here please." She motioned towards the door of the extreme heat lab.

What? Night looked the thing over. Why did she want him in there?

"Why in there? Isn't there anything you can do without putting him in there?" Night looked to her with a worried face.

Nurse Joy shook her head slowly. "I'm afraid not. That Charmander of yours is very strange. It's tail flame is producing enough heat to melt a fourteen million degree fahrenheit metal gurney in seconds, yet it seems not to harm you in any way what so ever." Nurse Joy frowned. "This is very puzzling, but at the very least it should be put somewhere where it's extreme heat wont damage anything else. Please put it into the lab, if it melts that as well, then I'm not sure if I can help it." She looked down sadly.

Night decided to do what she said, and placed Sapphire into the furnace looking thing. Nurse Joy closed the door, and asked him to step back. When he had moved back enough to please her, she reached up and punched a big red button at the top of the machine. A keyboard on a long arm swung into position in front of her. Nurse Joy bent over the keyboard, and Night watched in amazement as her fingers flew over the board.

"Now that is really strange." Said Nurse Joy, lost in thought over the results that she had gotten.

"What's strange? What's wrong with Sapphire? Is he gonna be Okay?" Night was desperately worried about him. He didn't really know why this pokemon, that he never wanted to get, meant so much to him, but he did.

Nurse Joy blinked at him. "Oh, Sapphire's going to be fine, his body's just being forced to use up more energy than it can naturally produce. We'll start him off on energy supplements, then see how we go from there. The strange thing is this pale Green fire emblem on his right paw. That seems to be the supply of all of this heat energy." She frowned again, lost in thought over how such a low level pokemon could ever have this much power. It just wasn't natural.

Fire emblem? A Cold prickling sensation ran up Night's spine at the words. The Pendant! He searched his pockets and looked at the lab door with grey eyes. "Nurse Joy, could you please open the door?"

She frowned at Night over the keyboard. "Why?"

"I want to check something. If I'm right, then this is all my fault, and I know how to help him, or at least I think I do." He frowned in thought. He'd never tried to take energy from a pokemon when it wasn't giving it. Maybe he could draw out the pendant in some way?

Nurse Joy looked at him oddly, but opened the lab door anyway, besides, she was curious as to what he would do.

Night ducked in under the door, and grabbed Sapphire's tail tip. He slowly pulled him out and held him. He sat down with Sapphire in his lap, and opened his right paw. He winced. It looked exactly like the pendant he had made. Damn, this wasn't going to be easy.

"Nurse Joy, could I ask you to leave please? I'm going to try something, and I'd rather that you not see what I do. The less people who know, the better."

Nurse Joy frowned, now curious beyond the norm. She checked the board. The last readout showed that the Charmander was stable, whatever he could do wouldn't really change that. "Okay. I'll go, but you've got ten minutes. If you're not done by then ....... tough." She walked out of the door.

Ten minutes, Damned, that's not much. He looked down at the sweat drenched Charmander within his lap. He tilted Sapphire's head back, leaned down and gently kissed the hot little Charmander on his parted maw. He put his right paw into his left hand, and concentrated. He hoped that this would work. He felt Sapphire within his mind. He was a blazing light that consumed everything in it's path. Within that blaze he saw a green Charmander, and a flashing orange / white pendant.

So you did take it. Even though he was holding onto Sapphire, he 'reached' into him, and drew out the little pendant that was causing so much damage for something so small. He felt a small weight in his left hand. Night opened his eyes, and looked down at Sapphire. He smiled when he saw that Sapphire's tail flame was how it normally was, and that his colour was slowly returning to the deep emerald green that he had first seen it as. He slid his hand out from under Sapphire's paw. He looked at the small pendant that was resting there. He'd only just made it earlier today, and already it was causing so much trouble.

He smiled down at the now peacefully resting Charmander. He saw the gashes on Sapphire's face, and sighed softly. Poor Sapphire, what happened to you? He looked to the door, and, not seeing Nurse Joy, leaned down and Kissed Sapphire again. He felt the warmth, the sharp little teeth, the hot and moist tongue that was slowly moving with his. His eyes widened in shock and Fear. STOP!

He thrust himself away from Sapphire, and panted harshly, face flat against the floor. That's when Nurse Joy decided to walk in. She took in him on the floor, a very happy, yet peacefully sleeping Charmander, and the absolute zero damage done to the surrounding area with a slightly confused expression.

"Does this mean your Charmander's back to normal?" Nurse Joy looked at the obviously dimmed, and less ..... blazing .... tail flame. "It's still blue though." She frowned. There was something about blue fire's being stronger than most. That could be it, she mused. Though it was highly doubtfull. She looked at the trainer who was most assuredly different from the others. She frowned when she saw the shape that his wings were in. The left one was extended behind hin, but the right one was Wrapped around his shoulder and front. She moved forwards and knelt infront of Night, who was busy trying not to seem like he was caught doing something naughty. She frowned, and poked his right wing. Night yelled, and rolled over to his other side.

"What was that for?" He stared at what was supposed to be a kind and tender nurse.

"I thought so. How did you injure your wing?"

Night looked at the floor. "I just about flew here from Derank. Starting from about an hour after the rain started. I pulled a muscle while I was trying to slow my descent. Sapphire's weight put me off a little, and I dropped too fast." Night shrugged, then winced as it pulled upon the injured muscle. He looked over to Sapphire's happy face, and smiled, his eye's changing to a light orange.

Nurse Joy looked over to the very strange Charmander, then got up and pulled out some heat treated Gauze and Surgical tape. She walked over to Sapphire, and bound the gashes upon his face.

"There, that should keep it from bleeding too heavily for the moment." She turned back to Night and frowned. She didn't even know him. "Who are you young man?"

Night's eyes quickly changed from Orange to Red. Well this was embarrassing. "My name is Night Hawk, Nurse Joy, and I thank you very much for helping Sapphire. I'm sure he'd thank you too if he could." Night ducked his head back down so he could gaze at the sleeping Charmander.

Nurse Joy walked back over to what she considered to be a very mysterious trainer. She placed a hand upon his left wing. Night flinched and tried to pull away, but was stopped by what she said.

"I may be a pokemon nurse, but that doesn't mean that I can't treat your wings." She gently pressed a hand against his wet wing, and felt along the muscle tissue to gauge how strong his wings were. After a short examination of his left wing, she carefully moved her attention to his right wing. She saw him flinch when she moved her hand to it, then tense as she felt along the top of his wing, and around his shoulder.

"You have a very strong muscular structure Night. Your wing should be fine by tommorow morning, or the day after that. They just need some rest after the strenuous effort you put them through." She moved around to face him, and smiled at him, before frowning when she saw his red eyes.

Night, seeing her expression, and where she was looking, sighed, and began to explain. "In case you haven't noticed, I'm not like other humans. I was born with these wings of mine, usually I can hide them under the cloak that I wrapped Sapphire up in, but now that it's torn so badly, I'm gonna have to be carefull about going into cities. The eyes show my emotions, I'm guessing that they're a reddish colour?" He looked Nurse Joy in the eyes.

Nurse Joy noded. "Yes, they're a very ...... Vibrant ... red."

Night blushed at the answer. "Yeah, it means I'm embarrased. And I'm embarrassed because I didn't introduce myself earlier. I was just too worried about Sapphire to remember my manners."

Nurse Joy nodded in understanding. "That's Okay Night. I usually don't ask for trainers names, so consider yourself lucky!" She winked at him, then laughed at his obvious confusion. She got up, then walked out of the Treatment room.

"Huh ..." Night watched the door close, then he got up, and walked over to Sapphire. He gently picked him up, and cradled him against his body. He yawned softly, and shuffled around so he could lean up against the warm lab. He gently stretched his wings, wincing as his right one twinged. He carefully wrapped them around Sapphire and himself. He put his head over Sapphire's, and slowly drifted off into a restless sleep.

Sapphire

Sapphire had woken up a half an hour or so before Night. He had at first thought that the one known as Troy had captured him, but when he reached out and felt the feathers that were encircling him, he relaxed against Night and began to think about what had happened last night. He knew something bad had happened, and that Night had helped him somehow. Sapphire was just a little scared about the encounter. He knew that Night had done something drastic for him, because he was asleep, and protecting him with his wonderfull wings. He felt bad for failing Night. It was all his fault that Night had gotten hurt because of him. Sapphire sat and thought about how to make it up to him. Sapphire leaned back up against Night, and gently explored his body, carefull not to make a move that might wake him. He let his paws travel over his well defined chest, and he gently prodded his shoulder muscles with a light blue tinted claw. He licked his lips, and moved closer to Night, and breathed in the scent that he was giving off. He sighed happily, and rubbed his cheek against his chest, and settled down.

Night

Night woke with a start, and yawned widely. He opened his eyes, and was startled by the wet Blue orbs that looked back at him.

"Oh, hello Sapphire, are you feeling better now?" He yawned again, and snuggled into Sapphire's warmth, lightly tightening his wings around the both of them.

"Chaaaaaaaaarr." Yawned the teary eyed Sapphire. Sapphire leaned close, and started licking Night's cheek, happy to see him awake and moving.

Night, blinked and tensed, not knowing what to do under the gentle caressing of Sapphire's tongue.

Sapphire stopped his licking, and closed his eyes as he felt Night tensing. He cried silently, and pushed his back against Night's wings. He'd moved too fast, and now Night was going to hate him.

Night was staring into the darkness of his wings when Sapphire stopped licking him. He felt funny, and knew that Sapphire was the cause of it, but it was a good feeling. When he felt Sapphire pushing against his wings, his first thought was to let him go, but then he heard a sniffle, so he leaned forwards, and hugged Sapphire. It was the only thing he could think of to show Sapphire that he liked the licking. No, there was another thing. He brought Sapphire closer to him, leaned down, and licked his tear stained cheek. He opened his wings, hugging Sapphire to him.

"It's Okay Sapphire. I may not like affection from other people, but from you." He hugged Sapphire, and Kissed the top of his scaley head. "I'll take all the affection you can give. Okay?" He turned Sapphire around, so that he was in his lap, and facing him. His little tail flame grew a little, and he nodded. Night hugged Sapphire again. "okay, now how about we go find Nurse Joy?" Sapphire nodded, and wiped his cheeks dry.

Night got up, and placed Sapphire gently upon the floor. He picked up the blanket that had been covering his wings, rolled it up, and went off to search for Nurse Joy.

Sapphire

I watched him get up. I also watched him walk out. I looked down at my shaking paws. Why couldn't I tell him? He was right there, all it would have taken was a Kiss, and saying I love you.

The little voice in the back of his head said, 'You didn't do it because you know you shouldn't. He could kill you with a thought.'

Sapphire sighed sadly, then slowly walked out the door in search of Night, absently rubbing at the gauze covering his itching face. He saw him just down the hall, and dashed up to him. He reached out to touch Night's wing, then froze when Night stopped moving. He quickly pulled his paw away.

"Well, I can't really remember how we got in here." Night smiled, and looked to Sapphire. "I was too worried about you to think straight." Night blushed, and Sapphire watched as his eyes deepened to a very deep red. He sighed mentally. He looked so good, so nice, so caring, and those wings!. Sapphire blinked. He looked down from Night's puzzled face, his deep green cheeks darkening. He'd been staring.

Night

Night shook it off. Don't think about it. He sighed, turned around, and headed back the way he was going. It all looked the same, but he was sure that he was going the right way. He nodded when he saw the large doors that he had come through early last night. He walked up to them, and watched them slide open. He walked forwards into the dazzlingly well lit lobby of the Pokemon Centre. Temporarily blinded by the light, it took him a moment to see the new Nurse that was at the front Desk, but when he did notice her, he waved.

"Oh Hello there." She said with a cheery smile. "You must be the trainer that came in last night. Can I get anything .............. ?" She blinked and stared at Night's wings, causing Night to blink, and shuffle nervously. The Nurse blinked, and realising that she had been staring, blushed and started to appologise profusely. "I'm So sorry Sir," She bowed, "Really Sorry." She bowed again. "Really ...." She went to bow again, and Night rushed over, and stopped her.

"It's Okay. I'd be curious too if I saw a winged human walk out of the backrooms." He smiled, and gave her a hand shake "I'm Night." He turned around, and gestured to Sapphire. "And this ...... Lovely piece of work here is called Sapphire." Sapphire waved back shyly. Night frowned. Why did I just call him lovely? He blinked, and shook himself when he realised that he had just been asked a question by the Nurse. "I'm Sorry, what did you say Miss?"

The nurse looked at him with a crooked smile. "I asked if both you and your Charmander were ready to leave today, or if you were spending more than one night with us."

Night turned back around to Sapphire. "Well, you think you can leave today?"

"Char!" Sapphire nodded his head vigorously.

Night laughed, his eyes changing. "Well, as ready as you seem to leave, we still have to make sure you're ready to leave. He walked back over to Sapphire, reached down, and slowly rubbed his scaled head. "I don't want you to have battle scars from your very first encounter."

Sapphire murred softly into the rubbing, pleasantly surprised that Night was being so touchy.

There was a click, and the door that they had come out of a few minutes before slid open, revealing a slightly more refreshed Nurse Joy.

"Denise, how do you think our visitors ....." She yawned, then blinked sleepily. "Oh, hello Night." She frowned. "Did you sleep with that backpack on all night?"

He blinked, then looked over his shoulder. Yep, there it was. He flexed his wings carefully, but seeing as it didn't bother them, he shrugged it off as nonsequential. "Yeah, I guess I did, but it's not uncomfortable or anything." He looked to Sapphire, then back to Nurse Joy. "Please Nurse Joy, do you think you could check Sapphire out, and tell me whether or not we have to stay here any more .... Please?" He pleaded with his eyes.

Nurse Joy blinked. "Uhhh Sure Night." She walked over to the injured Charmander, and gently removed the taped gauze. She looked at the scabing gashes with a deep interrest. It seemed that this Charmander was healing more rapidly then most would. She Grinned, and placed the crumpled gauze within her dress, looking back to Night.

"Sapphire's gonna be fine Night. You know, you're actually very lucky. This Charmander of yours seems to be healing really quickly. I would say that as long as he doesn't reopen his wounds, or do anything too strenuous, they should be gone by next week or so." She smiled. "Isn't that great?"

Night smiled, and looked over to Sapphire. "Sure it's great. It means that we can get going that much quicker. Isn't that right Sapphire?"

Sapphire nodded, and walked to the door, shuffling slightly as he waited.

"Well, it appears that Sapphire wants to leave, and I guess I have to as well." He smiled, and trotted over to the door, waited a moment for them to open, and walked out into the Horrendous heat that always occurs after a heavy shower and strong sunlight. He ruffled his feathers, then blinked when he realised that he was standing out in the street, without a cloak on, and his wings out. He felt a tug, and looked down into Sapphire's caring eyes. He sighed, and started walking.

"You know Sapphire," He said with a thoughtful frown, "We need food if we're going to be out and about, and travelling and everything." He looked up at a sign. Stopped, then backpeddaled in order to read it. Huh .... He turned left, and headed down the path way that the sign had said lead to a shopping district. Around thirty minutes later they came accross the Shopping centre. Night frowned when he saw the thing. It was Huge! He entered it, and then spent the next four to five hours wandering around the place, talking to the people that were interrested in his wings, and Sapphire, and picking up a rather large amount of stuff. He got some personally crafted clothes for his wings, some rather nice shoes that he was promised would stand almost anything, or double his money back, and a guide to natural berries, roots, and legumes. He was a little skeptical at first, but bought it when Sapphire nudged him back towards it when he tried to put it back down and leave. After all of this, he eventually went past a store advertising stuff for trainers, both new and experienced. He stopped, intrigued, and entered the store. He was immediately approached by someone he thought meant him harm, and by the way Sapphire acted to him, he thought so too. The man slowed down to a slow walk, and smiled, which just seemed to make him seem ...... worse.

"Hello there, are you interrested in actually purchasing something, or are you just browsing?" His eyes glinted with the question. Night shivered with apprehension.

"Ummm, i'm not really sure, at the moment I'm just looking, and if something catches my eye, I might by it." The man looked him up and down.

"Are you sure that you can afford our prices Sir?" Night blinked. Afford their prices? He blinked again, then began to chuckle, then snicker, then he started to laugh outright.

He coughed, and tried to stop, succeeding, he appologised. "I'm sorry, it's just that, if I actually wanted to, I could buy this entire city, and have it demolished." The slightly hostile man immediately changed his demeanour.

"Well why didn't you say so Sir? We currently have everything that a growing trainer like yourself could ever need. We even have items that your Pokemon can hold and use in their battles. Would you like me to show you around Sir, or would you prefer to just look for yourself?"

Night shivered under the intensity of that gaze. It was just so creepy. "Uhhmmm, at the moment I think I'll just look around, 'k?"

"Yes, sure, anything you want Sir." He grinned again, and headed back to the front desk, which, Night noticed, was well in the back of the store. He shivered, and ruffled his wings. He felt a tug upon the tip of his right wing, he looked down, and noticed Sapphire with a slightly ........ puzzled expression upon his face. Night sighed.

"I don't know what that was about, but go have a look around Sapphire, you might find something that you actually like. You might even find another Pokemon here." Sapphire blinked, then shook his head, and just stayed next to Night. "All right." Night turned around to go, but before he left, something caught his eye. He walked over to it, and crouched down to get a better look. The label said that it was a multi functional Device called a Poke gear. The listed functions were that of a Pokedex, Internet functions, Phone, Data Organiser, Camera, and it was able to make short 10 minute movies, among other things. He felt a heavy hand on his butt, causing him to flare his wings, and jump around to face whoever it was that had touched him so inappropriately. He cam face to face with the guy from before.

"Are you interrested in this Poke Gear Sir?" He asked with a slight smirk.

"Yes."

"That's very good Sir. Will you be wanting anything else?"

"No."

"Allright then Sir. How will you be paying for this? Cash, Cheque, Card, or Chip?"

"Chip."

The man smiled. "Very good Sir. The total comes to four thousand gold. Is that allright with you Sir?"

Night frowned. "I paid five hundred thousand for some stuff yesterday, are you sure it's not worth more?"

The man's eyes widened, and he looked down to his crotch mumbling, "I think I just wet myself."

Night shrugged, not having heard this remark, and held out his left wrist to be scanned. The man ran back to the desk, grabbed a scanner, then ran back and quckly scanned Night. This one, just like all the others he had been scanned with today, lit up like no tomorrow. The man fainted when he saw the ten digit display. It was filled with green nines. He made a heavy thump when he landed, causing two other attendants to appear, and try to help him up. One of the more stoic ones grabbed the scanner, input Night's purchase, thanked him, and helped his buddy drag away their boss.

Night blinked, then looked to Sapphire. "That was a first." He grabbed the box, carefully placed it into his bag and left the store. He and Sapphire made their way out of the Shopping Complex, and to the city gates. He asked the guard there where the next city was, and what it was called.

"Well Sonny, you've got three choices. You can go down the road, and turn left at the crossroads, taking you to Alabaster. You can go right, eventually taking you to Skarmory Isles, but that's a very long way to go, with no inns, rest stops, or villages in between. Or, you can go straight and be in The Forest Inn, before heading on to Fortree City. The people there built their homes within the trees, and also house a gym leader. Seeing as you look like a newbie and all, I wouldn't suggest taking Winowna on. She isn't really that nice to newbie's since that Nyron kid came along, Though I would suggest at least talking to her. She's a very nice person on the whole." The guard chuckled. "And it seems that I'm taking up too much of your time. If you want to get to the crossroads today, I better open the gates for ya." So saying, the elderly guard stepped to the side, reached into a crevice, and pressed a few things, the gate opened, and Night left with Sapphire.

* Sighs sadly * I know I'm gonna get in the shit for leaving it off like this again, but I can't help it. It really wants to just keep on going. Well anyway, Here's the 2nd chapter finished, and the third should be coming out sooner than this one. Again, leave a message if you like it. NC in the next Chapter * Crosses his fingers hopefully *

Thanks again for reading! ^-^
