Dragons Wrath Part 2
#2 of Dragon's wrath
"You have been with me for a few months now Monty so I have decided
that you are ready to use this ring." Topken takes a smooth looking ring out of his
pocket and holds it up for Montisaquadeis to see. As Monty is looking at the ring
runes start appearing and start moving slowly around its smooth surface Topken
then Speaks again "This ring Monty is a sign of you apprenticeship with me and it
will also allow you to contact me telepathically any where. I will also teach you
how to transform into a human using the ring"
So Topken gives the ring to Monty and tells him to put it. Monty takes the
ring from Topken and slips it on his right middle claw. As it slips into place Monty
feels a tingling sensation starting in his claw and spreading inwards to the rest of
his body. As the tingling sensation finishes Monty has knowledge he has never
known before. That knowledge is the work of the ring. It has opened his mind to
the universe.
After Monty slips the ring on Topken tells him "That ring opens your mind
and the link will stay even if you take the ring off. Why don't you take the rest of
the day away from your studies?" He then turns around and walks off towards
the heart of the palace.
Monty walks off towards his room. After he arrives he sits at his desk to
think about what just happened to him. As he is thinking sleep starts setting in so
he moves over to the bed and lies down.
When Monty wakes up it's the middle of the afternoon. So he gets up and
heads to the kitchen to get something to eat. When he gets there he sees
Lasnap swell.
Lasnap says "Why hello Monty it seems like Topken gave you the day off." He has said that because Monty is usually practicing a spell or researching some stuff.
Monty responds "Yes he did Lasnap. I was thinking of heading to town for
some supplies." He doesn't feel like telling Lasnap about the ring yet. So he
takes a seat across from Lasnap and looks around for the cook. When he sees
him he waves him over and tells him he wants a bull's rear end with out the skin
uncooked.
So the cook goes and sees if he can't find what Monty asked for. He finds
what he is looking for in the freezer. So he takes it out and sets it in front of
Monty. He then says "There you go sir." He then bows and walks back to what
he was doing before.
So Monty digs in with teeth and claws ripping and shredding it to pieces.
Lasnap says "Slow down a little." He finished eating when Monty walked in. He
is hoping to spend a little time with Monty this afternoon so he sits and waits until
Monty is done eating.
As Monty Finishes up he gets up and starts walking out towards the main
doorway. As Monty gets up so does Lasnap and he follows him out. They then
stop at the doorway and Monty tells Lasnap to climb onto his Back and so
Lasnap does and Monty spreads his wings ready to take off. He jumps down the
side of the mountain and starts flapping his wings and he flies towards the town
which is 2 miles away he then touches down in the middle of the town square.
As he touches down Lasnap hops off his back and they head towards the
general store.
When they walk in the store owner greets them with a nod and he hovers
a moment on Monty then he sees Lasnap and goes back to what he was doing.
Monty starts looking around for some basic supplies. Aft6er a moment he starts
gathering them and he takes them to the counter and the man looks them over.
He then tells Monty it will cost him 50 gold Monty t ells him he will give him 45
gold the man then says 47 Monty tells him 42 the man says 45 and Monty gives
him 45 gold. He then walks out and heads towards the magic shop. Lasnap Stayed
behind to speak with the owner. The man asks what he is doing with a dragon.
Lasnap tells him Monty is an apprentice to Topken and that he is watching over
him for the time being. He then gives the man a list of supplies and tells him he
needs those items delivered to the palace by Friday which gives the man 4 days.
He takes the list and nods. Lasnap then walks out and heads to the magic shop
to find Monty. As Lasnap walks down the street he hears voices coming from an alleyway up on the left. It sounds like people are arguing. As he gets closer it gets louder. When he gets to the alleyway he looks down it and sees a human and a dwarf arguing. He walks towards them and says "May I ask what the fight is about?"
As Lasnap walks up the dwarf and human look up and bow before him. Then the human says "This dwarf killed my father but he wont admit to it."
The dwarf says "I did no such thing laddy"
The human says "See what I mean?"
Lasnap says "Yes I do. Why don't you two follow me and we can get to the bottom of this." He walks out of the alleyway and keeps heading towards the magic shop. Keeping his ears open for the sound of them following him. The human and dwarf stare at each other for a moment then start following Lasnap. Lasnap smile as they start following him.
He enters the shop and sees Monty looking at some staves hanging on the wall. Lasnap walks up to him and glances at the weapons quickly before turning to Monty and saying "Monty we need to get back to the palace quickly. We have a problem with these two and we need to sort it out as quickly as we can. The human is blaming the dwarf for the death of his father."
Monty turns around and listens to Lasnap as he finishes speaking Monty says "Ok just let me speak with the owner for a sec." He walks up to the owner who is a balding human in a red robe. Monty asks the owner to hold this staff for him and he hands him a staff that is 6'0 tall and has a green crystal on one end and a mithril tip. He then tell him he will be back for it. He walks out with Lasnap and the other two on his heels.
Lasnap says to him "can you carry me and these two" and he points to the human and dwarf.
Monty tells them to get on and hold on as he tries to take off but cant with the extra weight. He has the three stand away from him as he stretches his arm up and claw out and forms a circle above him. As the circle form s it showers him in a white light and he can feel his strength increasing. he then has them get back on him and he takes off for the palace. He lands at the entrance
The three get off and Lasnap tells Monty to stay put while he speaks with Topken for a moment. After Lasnap leaves the two start auguring again and Monty tells them to be quiet and to wait for Lasnap to come back.
Lasnap enters the throne room and walks up to the step and bows before Topken who is seated on his throne speaking with Daisy. He turns and faces Lasnap. He then asks why Lasnap didn't bring Monty with him into the room. Lasnap responds that he left him out in the entrance to watch the human and dwarf. Topken tells him to hurry up and retrieve them. As Lasnap is gone Daisy walks out the back way. Lasnap hurries out and comes back in a couple minutes with Monty and the human and dwarf in tow. Monty takes his place on Topken's right while Lasnap stands on his left. The two shiver while standing there waiting for Topken or one of the other two to speak.
It is Lasnap who speaks first. "Topken the human here has accused this dwarf of a horrible crime he has accused him of murdering his father. I thought you might be able to shed some light on this as you are of course you."
As Lasnap speaks the human steps towards the platform on which the throne sits and bows before them. He then stands straight up and precedes to tell them of what happened "I was outside gathering some herbs from the garden when I herd something shatter so I ran swiftly inside to where my father and this dwarf we having a heated discussion about the where about's of an item known as Dagger of Loki when all of a sudden the dwarfs draws his battleaxe and precedes to slice my poor father to ribbons. He then left quickly and I preceded to follow him outside and down the alleyway where Lasnap here found us. I was ready to draw my own short sword and hack this dwarfs head off."
Topken listens with great interest and waits for the human to finish as he does Topken says "The Dagger of Loki huh. I know of this weapon. I also know who holds it now and he is standing next to me." he waves Monty forward.
Monty steps forward and draws out the dagger he bought in the weapon shop so long ago. he holds it up for all to see. As he does the dwarf starts shaking uncontrollably and starts walking towards Monty with an evil smile upon his face and the stench of an animal that is suppose to be long gone.
The stench is that of a great evil being that tried to take over the world using the staff of order so long ago but Topken locked him away in the deepest and darkest labyrinth under the Temple of The Son. The Temple was erected after Topken locked the being in the labyrinth. The temple was erected for Topken as a award for defeating the evil one. It was erected by the people of the valley and guarded well by them.
Topken then says" Monty I am asking you to go to the Temple of the Son to check up on this being. You may take Lasnap and Daisy with you."
