#5 of What Could Go Right?

Hey guys, I'm sorry I skipped 3 updates. I had a lot happen personally that has been draggy, school work, and amazing, a absoutly wonderful mate, in the few weeks. I'm shifting to a once a week update, which I will gear for a Wendsday update. I am working with my mate on another story that we'll post on his sofurry account. Once it's posted if you all want I'll let you know on a update here n.n

Now, I also was late because I was absoutly at a standstill with this. It was leading somewhere I absoutly didn't want to go yet and it took a bit to figure it out. Thankfully things should go as planned now.

Chapter 5

Fears

Dill sighed, watching Ken on the other side of his bed. After about five minutes he'd take a shuddering breath and say "I almost drowned when I was a cub, when ever it rains heavily and there's higher water it freaks me out. That's why I only shower, not bath or swim. I-I can't handle huge storms, the lighting and thunder reminds me that it's out there so I can't ignore it."

Ken nodded, realizing now why Dill was so on edge at the pool, and said "You really have a phobia of water then, yet you came to get me from it for that date?"

Dill stayed quiet for a few moments, then said "I really wanted you to go, I felt like you might enjoy it. Plus, I didn't want to go out on the town alone for the first time you know?" as he looked down and to the left, his ears flattening. Ken frowned, and as he opened his mouth to say something a bolt of lighting flashed close lighting the room with a deafening crash of thunder that shook the brick building. Dill's fur raised on end, and he literally jumped into Ken's arms and hugged him tight around the neck.

Ken was a little shocked, but was still able to breath. He returned the hug, trying to comfort the large cat, and felt him shivering. He honestly didn't know what to do besides just sit there with Dill leaning into his arms. After a few moments, Dill pulled back and sat beside Ken with his ears flattened.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me Ken..." Dill started to have Ken wrap his arm around his shoulders.

"Don't sweat it, it's what friends do. Now, we have to sit in here in the dark for at least twelve hours until bed time and I can't sleep all that time. Any suggestions on what we could do to pass the time?" Ken replied, with a smile. "Hopefully we can take your mind off the storm as well."

Dill nodded, and tried to think on something to do. As soon as he started to think, another crash of thunder and lightning send him flinching into Ken's lap with his hands over his ears. As he realized where he was now laying, and quickly sat up, not looking at Ken. Ken, not realizing anything, sighed and said "Well, anything you can think of?"

Dill looked around the room, and saw Ken's book for different massage tactics he had. His ears perked up, and he asked without looking at Ken "K-Ken, do you need practice with your massaging, I wouldn't mind you practicing on me."

Ken got up and used his cell to look through his book for a few moments. He settled on a page, and nodded, saying "Alright, lay down on your back please and I'll work on helping your upper body. It'll be a bit rough though."

Dill nodded and laid down, as Ken pointed at his shirt and motioned for it to go off. Dill nodded and took off the white muscle shirt he always slept in, then laid back down. Ken stood beside him, and Dill closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As Ken reached down to his chest, a extremely loud bolt of lightning struck near by and Dill's fist went flying upwards to back hand Ken to the ground. As Ken hit the floor, the lights came back and a few cheers could be heard through the building.

Dill sat up, holding his paw to his mouth in shock as he saw Ken sitting on the floor with a bloody nose. Ken had some tears in his eyes, but he smiled sweetly to Dill and said "Don't worry, accidents happen. I gotta go wash up, I'll be right back alright?" with that the otter hybrid got up, opened the door while holding his muzzle with his other paw, and went to the bathroom. Dill went back to sitting on the bed with his knees to his chest, sobbing as the bulge in his pants softened down.

Ken passed Xena as he went to the bathroom, who gasped and followed him into the mens only restroom again. Ken got to the sink saying "Don't worry Xena I'm fine, my roommate accidentally hit me when the lightning struck." As he turned on the water. "I forgot to get some kind of paper towel, could you go to my room and ask Dill to get the wash clothe in my desk's top drawer please? I don't wanna trace blood everywhere."

"Sure thing love, be just a moment." She said, walking out the door. A bear and a fox wrapped in towels in the shower side whistled at her as she left, and smiled thinking that she'll return. When she reentered the bathroom a bit later, she held up a can of mace at them winking and went back to Ken's side, to which the boy's flattened their ears and went back to their showers. She insisted on wiping down his face, cleaning off the blood. She then touched the top of his muzzle gently, to which he winced.

"That smarts, don't touch it please." He said to which she sighed. "I'm going after my roommate, she's in her final year as a med student. It might be broken but she could pop it in place. Go to your room and hold the clothe to your nose while I get her. If not for the storm I'd drive you to the hospital myself but it's flooding something horrid. And while you could try swimming up the street I'm not doing it otter boy."

She walked back out of the bathroom without a word, to which Ken just blinked. The bear stuck his head out of the shower and said "Ken I'd listen, she looks like she could take even me." With a chuckle and walked to the door. "Nice girlfriend by the way, just don't piss her off." As he walked out.

"B-but Frank she's not my.." Ken started as the door shut behind Frank. He sighed as the fox poked his head out and asked "So, does that mean I can take a chance with her?" to which Ken shrugged as he went back to the room.

Dill was laying on the bed under the covers, asleep from the looks of it. Ken desided to be quit and sit on his chair. A few minutes later Xena opened the door without knocking and pointed Ken out to a lioness. Her hair was cut short and died bubble gum pink, light green eyes, and wore her med jacket she would wear to class. "I wake up and get ready for a clinical, just to have it canned. At least I still get practice so lets look here."

"Tina is a nice girl, she doesn't mind helping out others" Xena said with a smile as Tina sighed touching Ken's muzzle gently. "It's just sore you ditzy fox, if it was broke then there would be nothing I could do. Just looks like someone popped you a good one and it didn't break it so count it lucky ok ott..wait your a hybrid?" She said as she looked him over.

Ken nodded, and she started pulling his arm up to examine it, following up with pulling on rubber gloves and pulling open his mouth to look inside. She rubbed his tongue a few seconds, then grabbed his paws. She pushed on his pointer finger gently, forcing his claw to extend slightly. She then grabbed his foot paw and did the same, noting the webbing. She then looked at his tail and smiled. "A hybrid of a feline and a otter. You have the eyes and a odd placement of cat ears too. Must get annoying not being able to shut out water like a otter can normally for your ears but you most likely make up for it unless you hate water. You look so much like a otter that I doubt that though."

Ken blushed and remembered how rare hybrids where, but never has anyone looked him over like this. Tina blushed and shook her head saying "Well, as Xena said I'm Tina Rosemary Terra Rika Rengula. And yes, I have three middle names." She said as Ken gave her a confused look. "My parents couldn't settle on two names, between Terra Rika and Tina Rosemary so it became my full name. Graduation was funny as hell, but anyway, your Ken right?"

Ken nodded and said "Ken or Kenny but my full first name is Kennith. My roommate, is asleep I think and his name is Dill."

As if on que, Dill sat up at the mention of his name, but he walked on past them with a gruff " 'cuse me" as he pushed past the girls that stood around the door. Xena frowned, and went to follow him as Tina put her paw on her shoulder "Leave him be, he sounded upset."

The three sat there in a awkward silence for a few seconds to which Tina broke by saying "So he was the one who punched you?"

Ken nodded and added "On accident, he gets upset by lightning and thunder and it set him off as I was about to practice on him."

Tina blushed right through her fur as she shuddered out "P-p-practice?!" as Ken nodded and picked up the book he left laying open to show her. She looked at it and sighed saying "O-oh I see..You like massaging?"

"It's his minor but he wants it to be major I think he said." Xena said as she sat on Ken's bed, sitting on her knees and playing with her tail a little. Ken nodded to which Tina smiled.

"Oh, practice on me please! I have not had a good massage before and I always wanted one. In return you can ask me any thing basic on first aid and I'll help you okay?" Tina said suddenly, grabbing his paws. Ken blinked a few times and said "I could always use help, and I love to do it anyway. So sure, take a seat here." As he stood up to let her take the chair.

Two hours later, both girls where relaxed as Ken just finished full massages on the both of them. They where now looking through his wardrobe and snickering as they flashed him looks.

"Oh yes, we should."

"We totally should!"

"He needs it, I mean look at this!"

"I know, we have to pay him back!"

"Erm, what are you two talking about?" Ken asked them, not picking up on the obvious signs.

They smiled and put a paw on each of his shoulders as they leaned in close to his ear. They whispered a few words, which made Ken regret asking.

"Clothes shopping, you _ need _ new clothes!"
