"Embracing Fate-Chapter 6 Hidden Truths"

*WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!* "Intruder alert! There has been a breach in Sector D Insulator Core. Intuder-" rang the computerized voice repeatedly as Col. Havran froze with the jockey whip inches away from my face.

"Damn it! I was so close," she said to me and quickly jumped off to untie my bindings, "I guess you're free, for now." Then Col. Havran went to her closet to quickly dress up as I got on my own clothes off the floor. I felt a great feeling of relief as I dressed, and glad to get out of being Col. Havran's sex toy.

"Here, take this and quickly follow me." she commanded while handing me a M-16 as I pulled my pants up and went after her, out of her dorm room. We made our way through the hallway, passing the other rooms and soon, into the office where everyone met, including the same brown cat from before still reading a dirty magazine. I was able to spot Chief in the crowd and ran over to him, still not sure as to what's going on.

"What's happening Chief? Are we being attacked?" I asked him as he handed me a tactic vest to put on.

"I'm not sure. It's most likely not but we have to do what protocols calls for anyway. Usually, when the alarms set off, it's because of the security system had picked up something that it would mistake for an intruder such as insects or rats." Chief replied as we went into formation with the other soldiers, waiting for further instructions from Col. Havran.

"Alright men, you all know the drill. Ted and Will, I want you both hold your positions at terminal station C. Jake and Fernando, take station E. The rest of you, follow me," Havran ordered as we marched downstairs to the tram station and onto the tram. I followed behind Chief towards the tram with the colonel standing next to the entryway and just before I could set a foot in, Col. Havran stopped me.

"Hold it right there. Where do you think you're going?" she commanded me.

"Following you. Isn't that what you ordered?" I answered, a little confused as Havran stepped in the tram while holding the doors open.

"That's what you think. I want you to stay here with Tom upstairs and when I return, I expect you to be ready for your punishment, my pet." she said seductively, tapping the metal tag on my collar that I had forgotten about right before the metal door shut between us and then the tram swiftly disappear.

*sigh* "This is just not my day," I told myself as I took my collar off, then placed it in my pocket and headed for upstairs. When I reached the top, I saw that Tom, the brown cat, was still at the front desk and lazily sitting while reading a dirty magazine. I walked over towards where Tom was and stood next to him as I wait for the others to return. As I stood, I idly swayed back and forth in boredom. Soon enough, my curiosity got the best of me I began to lean over Tom to see what he was reading.

"Ah, um." coughed the brown cat while giving a mean glare at me.

"Sorry," I said but soon got curious and began speaking again.

"So, is this what you do all day?" I asked.

"Yup," he replied, never leaving his eyesight from the magazine.

"I don't suppose that you do anything else here other than reading all day, everyday." I asked once again this time got a reaction.

"Don't you have something to do other than questioning me all day? It's kind of hard for me to read with you here," he rudely said and giving me the evil glare again.

"Yeah, you're right. Sorry to bother you," I replied and left to get away from his evil glare. I went to the Rec-room to play a little of pool but being the only one there, it quickly got boring. Then with an urge to take a leak, I went to bathroom to piss but when I got to the door, it was locked.

"Not again," I sighed and walked back to the office to ask Tom for the master key.

"Hey Tom! Do you have-" I asked but stopped midway for when I opened the door, in front of me were three strangers in black, wearing some kind of a green lit goggled gas masks with some assault weapons. Then I noticed something on the floor and saw that on the floor was Tom's dead body.

"Target on sight. Retrieving the target." said one of the intruders as they then pointed their weapons at me and began walking towards me.

"Shit!" I cried and slammed the door shut as I ran back towards the Rec-room and took cover behind a wall while aiming at the door with my M-16, waiting for them to come in. For a second, nothing happened but then the door cracked open and a fog grenade was thrown through. Knowing that they're planning to raid while hidden in the smoke, I began to blindly fire at the entryway. I fired about half of my clip and then waited. Suddenly a volley of bullets were shot at me as I hid. Being pressured down I returned fire at the direction of where the shots were coming from until my clip ran out. By this time, the fog had taken up most of the room, making it hard to see. As I was reloading my gun with a new clip, I felt something tap me by my right shoulder and saw that one of the intruders was standing next to me aiming at point blank.

"Drop it." he ordered and I did, "Now move."

I moved through the mist with him guiding from behind and another next to me. We got to the area where Tom was shot and a fresh new corpse of one of the intruders laying near the doorway.

"Calling head base. We have retrieved the target and the product. I repeat, we have retrieved the target and the product. Please send immediate transport at the pickup point. Roger." said the intruder next to me as he radioed in while we are about to descend the stairs.

Just when I thought it was over, the gunman behind me fell to the floor when gun shots were heard from behind us. Turning around I saw that it was Tom who made the shots from the floor with a 10mm gun. I took this opportunity to get in the way and knock down the intruder next to me who was about to shoot Tom. We both fell to the floor as he fired three times, two of which missed Tom but one of them hit me on my left shoulder when I knocked the gun out of his hands. The pain from the misfire radiated from my shoulder while we rolled all over the floor fighting. Seconds passed while we continued giving each other fistful punches until we both back off and stood up for a moments rests.

"I need to find some way to get this guy down. It's my only best shot if I'm going to survive this," I thought to myself as the masked intruder and I intently stare at each other. Then I blitz towards him, going with my plan until everything changed when I saw the enemy take out a combat knife out of his side jacket pocket and then charging to me. He used the knife to take a few swipes at me but I easily dodged them with a few close calls. Then I made my counter when the masked man made a swift stabbing motion to me. I evaded it to the right and grabbed his wrist with the knife to make a quick outward twist to the enemy's arm which forced him to drop his knife. Once the knife hit the floor, the intruder fell not too long behind after I kick swipe him to the floor. He tried to get up but I was able to pin him down by having my foot on his neck, crushing his airway as I still held his arm from before.

"Freeze! Don't move!" came a familiar voice as I turned to the direction of where it came from while panting.

"Sia!? What are you doing here?" I cried, looking the vixen as she walked next to me with her gun aimed at the stranger.

"I thought that I should come and check up on you but from what I'm looking now, I'd say you're doing pretty well on your own," Sia commented when Col. Havran, General Doc and the guys that Havran lead came up from the stairs.

"Damn it Tom. I told you to keep a look out! Now look at you," Havran yelled while Tom sat up against the his desk, holding on to his blood stained magazine, "Ted, Jake, get him to the medical ward before he bleeds to death."

"Good god, what happened here?" Doc asked.

"Well, you see, these three guys tried to kidnap me for some reason and almost killed Tom. But, Tom and I were able to stop them and I'm able to have one of them caught alive," I said shaking the pinned man's arm. Then Havran walked over and took the man's helmet off.

"He's no good to us anymore," she said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because, he's dead," she replied showing the man's face with foam coming out of his mouth as I let go of him, "He must have had a cyanide pill ready in case this happens."

"John! Your shoulder! Are you alright?" cried the panicking vixen and began to lick my wound.

"It's ok, I think I'll survive although, it does sting a little," I said, trying to not make it look as bad, "But the main concern that I'm more worried about is who were those guys and why they tried to kidnap me?"

"They were most likely special spy units sent by the government to capture you," Col. Havran commented.

"That is correct. It seems like they have found our location and tried to steal you right under our noses. Time is the matter of importance right now and we must get you to another location to ensure your safety but for now, you need to get that shoulder patched up. Sia, may you please take John to Medical Ward 2A where Elly is stationed to get him fixed up." ordered the general as Sia suddenly went into a salute stance.

"Yes sir!" she saluted happily and then proceeded to hold my paw to guide me.

"Before I go. I should tell you that I wasn't the only thing that they were after. I heard one of them before they died that there was another of them around here and that they were able to retrieved a 'product'," I told Doc.

"I see. Well, thanks for the heads up. I'll get security to check right away on what was stolen from us." Doc answered as I nod my head in consent and began walking, letting Sia guide me the way.

"Elly! Elly!" yelled Sia as we came into the medical ward through the doorway while Elly was busy looking in a microscope and typing onto her laptop.

"Sia?! What are you-John!" she cried in surprise and quickly ran towards me with scissors in one hand and some gauze in another. In a split second, Elly cut my T-shirt from sleeve to collar and placed the gauze over the wound. Then we motioned over to the chair that Elly had sat before and I was place on it. Elly then told Sia to hold the gauze and put pressure on my wound as she walked over to some cabinets behind her. She scour in the cabinets until she came out with tweezers, bottle of ethyl alcohol, more gauze, bandages and needle with thread. Moments later, Elly begins to clean the wound with the alcohol and started to search for the bullet by prodding me with the tweezers.

"Hmm...it seems like I don't see a bullet but instead an exit wound so that's good. Nothing critical or life threatening is present although, you'll be a little sore for the next few weeks after you're patched up. In the mean time, Sia, you think that you can go down to the supply bay and get some pain killers?" said Elly as Sia gave a brief answer of consent and quickly went to do the task. An awkward long silence came after between me and Elly for a minute while she worked stitching the small gash. During that uncommunicative moment, she stitched very slowly and precisely in a deep thought of uneasiness but the situation would get worse whenever we make eye contact. Elly would try to quickly look the other way when our eyes meet and then become even more fidgety as she stitched. Soon enough, the silence is broken.

"So...how have you been? Are you having a nice time here?" muttered Elly.

"Oh, I'm doing ok, I guess. This place seems to be alright for an underground base," I commented, sensing the atmosphere around us becoming even more awkward and uneasy.

"I...I hope that you don't have the wrong impression of me. I really like you, I really do, but this is for the best. I don't think that things would work if I-"

"Wait a minute, you're not making any sense. What are you trying to say?" I questioned her, very confused at what's this husky is talking about.

"...You don't know what I'm talking about, do you? You never received my resignation letter from General Doc have you?" she answered as I nodded in response, "I so sorry. You were supposed to get it but to tell you the truth, I decided not to be part of the pack anymore."

"Why?" I asked as I stood up and held Elly by the shoulders waiting for the answer, "I know that we haven't even once tried to get to know one another or spend time together but that's no reason to quit from our pack, our family. I'm sure that whatever it is, we can fix it."

"It's not that. It's-" Elly tryingly replied but is soon cut off by me as things became more intense with me looking seriously at Elly while she looks away, not making any eye contact.

"Is it because of me?..." I asked as the response gave Elly a big look of fear and bewilderment with a sense of truth to those words when tears rolled down from her eyes, the same clear sky blue eyes confirming for what was said.

"I never meant for any of this to end this way," she said in a low, sorrowful tone and then ever so slowly, she bonded close to my body, gently resting her head on my furred chest, "You may not realize this before but I enjoyed your presence whenever you're around, especially when all of us, the pack, get together for any ordinary event like eating supper. I may never have any feelings for you to begin with and probably never will but it's not because I hate you...it's because I'm different from others."

"Different?" I repeated, feeling confused and depressed as my fingers begin to stroke her back for reassurance

"Yeah. It's hard to say this out in the open but I'm one of those few who prefer to be with another of the same similarities. I'm really into spending quality time with the girls and not the boys. I'm...gay," peeped Elly.

"Is that all?" I said gently pushing her off of me to a face to face position, looking her in the eye, "Is this what been disturbing you this whole time? I thought that it would be something more serious."

"You're not upset with me," she sniffled, wiping her eyes with her forearm as I smiled and shook my head in complied consent. Then Elly smiled.

"So you finally told him," came a voice from the doorway and looking up, it was Sia.

"Sia! Uh, how long have you been standing there?" I asked smiling uneasily. Sia just smiled contently, then came up to me. Slowly, she held my left paw up to her chest and gently grasped it.

"Just about enough to know how much of an accepting guy you are. I'm really glad for you," she cooed and then begins to lick the newly stitched wound on my left shoulder.
