Jake:

I woke up in the hospital wing of the school with Amanda and Danna sitting next to me while my dad stood at the end of the room talking to Dash and the nurse. They looked down at me, and Amanda smiled her bubbly smile while Danna glared darkly despite the fact we were friends. I smiled at them and said "I'm guessing it's morning already?" They nodded and Danna said softly "Yeah, Lady Kitriana walked in to check on you a little while ago, then said that when you woke up you'd have to go to the office and pick out your other classes. She said no matter what she had to teach you, so one of your classes had to be hers. However the rest of your classes would vary in skill based on your first exam. The only ones you're already allowed to take, other than hers, are advanced are Tactics, physical training, and athletics." I blinked and Amanda laughed cynically. I looked at her, however she ignored me and said "I think you broke his brain sis, or else he's just to stupid to realize that you basically told him at least three of his classes will be with seniors." I sighed and sat up then blinked noticing that the bandages from last night were gone, and I still had no clothes on. Dad, Dash, and the nurse seemed to notice I was awake after a few seconds and walked over still talking among themselves.

I looked at them and said softly "Dad where are my pants, and why the hell am I naked?" Amanda covered her face while Danna smacked me for being uncouth. I winced and gingerly touched my cheek wondering why girls always ended up having such a large problem with a guy stating the facts as he saw them. Dasher bent over chuckling and Dad just shook his head with a look on his face that asked 'Why is my son such a dunce at times?' I looked at him and said "Instead of asking yourself about me, why don't you hand me my clothes?" He sighed and handed me a folded package as the nurse shooed Amanda and Danna out of the room. Dasher pulled the curtains closed and I slipped out of bed. He seemed to study me, but I ignored that fact and pulled on my boxers without any sense of urgency. Dad shook his head still confused about how he ended up with a son like me when he'd personally always had wanted a daughter. I smirked slightly at the look on his face and pulled on my pants. After a few seconds I stretched out and pulled on my shirt. Dasher sighed as if he lost an interesting show and I said "Don't you have to get to class or something Dash?"

He blinked and looked at me with a startled expression then ran for the door yelling over his shoulder "I'LL SEE YOU DURING LUNCH JAKE! I HAVE TO RUN IF I DON'T WANT TO BE LATE FOR LADY SHANDI'S CLASS! WHICH I DON'T, BECAUSE IF I'M LATE ONE MORE TIME SHE'S GOING TO USE MY PELT AS A DOOR MAT!!!" I laughed softly and watched him go then blinked as Danna and Amanda walked back in. Danna took one look at me with my clothes on and said to the nurse "I don't know what you were worried about, I doubt he has anything that would really attract a female's attention with such a scrawny build." I glared at her and Amanda just giggled I blinked and started to say how would she know if I was packing anything when Dad grabbed me by the ear and said softly "Don't make a larger fool of yourself than you already have." I let out a yip and tried pulling my ear free only to have him twist his hand and ask "Are you done acting like a child, and are you willing to act like the young adult you are?" I nodded trying to hold back whines and yips of pain without looking at the girls. He slowly let go of my ear and I asked him "Do you mind bringing my stuff over when I find out where my room is?" He nodded and walked off while I stood there rubbing my ear to get the feeling back in it.

The girls looked at me with two completely different expressions. Amanda had a look of slight pity in her eyes as if she knew how that felt while Danna's eyes seemed to show a glint of satisfaction as if she thought I deserved what I got. I sighed and said "Did I do anything to deserve your scorn Danna?" She blinked taken aback by my question, but I didn't say anything else deciding I'd be as patient as I needed to be to get this answer. She sighed softly and said "No, but I've got a problem with guys who have your 'I'm the best.' attitude. Ok?" I growled softly the fur on my tail rising like the hackles of any wild and said softly "I don't have an I'm the best attitude. I figure it was pure luck I managed to last as long as I did. Every fight I've ever been in was one I entered for someone else, and the only reason I'm confident is I've proven myself to myself. However you're to damn stubborn to notice any of that, so you see my attitude as a threat to you. Get over yourself Danna, or else someone's going to end up causing you a lot of trouble." She growled at me then walked out of the room while Amanda called after her. I sighed and picked up my bag off the floor and slung it on my back figuring I'd best head to the office. Amanda looked at me and said "I don't blame you for being mad, but you don't know everything Jake. If you did I don't think you'd have said what you did. I'll have to see you later because I've got cheer practice, but think on what I said before you go getting angry at everyone for every little thing they say." I nodded slowly and smiled at her in thanks then headed to the office figuring it would be very wise to get my schedule before I snapped more.

I walked pass my dad and the nurse on my way out of the infirmary, but neither of them seemed to notice me. I silently shrugged and headed to the office using my scanner to guide me. I pressed one of the buttons on it and a strange holographic image of the school popped up with a blue arrow marking where I was. I sighed and touched another button causing a thin holographic keyboard to appear. I typed in a question for directions to the office and the hallway around me lit up with green flashing lights. They corresponded with the image on my scanner's holo view of the school and I closed it then slowly followed them to the office. I silently told myself to find out as much as I could about the school's tech since it now seemed to be a part of my body. I shivered remembering the fact that I couldn't take off my scanner until I found out how it worked, or else I may just end up screwing with my own nervous system. I walked into the office to see Ryan and Thom talking to one of the office workers who I remembered from yesterday.

She glanced at me then acted as if I was of no interest until I walked forward and asked her "What classes are available to me?" She typed away on a holographic keyboard then said "Mr. Arrows, the classes available to you are Fighting Level Six, Tactics Level Six, Athletics Level 5, Technology level 2, Magic level 1, Mathematics, Pokemon study 1, Digimon study 2, and Lady Kiriana's advanced classes which you are required to take." I blinked and said "Maam do you mind telling me your name?" She nodded slowly and said "Lisa Flameclaw, why?" I smiled and said "I'd like to learn the names of all the staff, and I'd like to take all of the classes you said I can. Is that possible?" She nodded slowly typing it into the computer and said "Everyday except Saturday you'll have classes, but if you're willing to have a six day week you can all of them without any double blocking." I nodded and said "Sure. I have no problems with that, my only request is that I have a student to guide me through the school." She laughed at that and said "If you wish so Mister Arrows, I can probably find a student willing to guide you. However the headmaster will have to add a pokedex feature to your scanner since you didn't originally have one installed." I nodded and she walked into the headmaster's office as I sat down and started studying the different controls on my scanner so far, and my digideck.

Ryan looked over my shoulder and whistled softly as I went through my deck then said "You know what's interesting about the scanners is they work as a digivice, a pokedex, a magic controller, and a genetic modifier." I looked at him confusedly and he explained "Thom was telling me about it, the scanner allows a digimon to tap into their true potential, but also allows others to use their abilities. Meaning no one is at a disadvantage as long as they have a digideck, and it appears that we pokemon can switch back and forth between our evolved forms." I nodded starting to understand then he continued "The genetic modifiers allow people to tap into their own genetic coding and alter it at will. The school advises against it, but some people do it anyway. The magic controller is the strangest thing, it allows you to access your personal element and to use magic at will even without training. It's really cool though, because it puts the pokemon and digimon on the same level as most human and anthro mages." I nodded starting to understand why the school was such a large structure and had so many different terrains around the place. Everyone needed different living areas or else they wouldn't be able to survive in their natural habitat when they left the school.

I sighed and said "Thanks Ryan. I'm curious though, why are you in the office?" He grinned mischievously and said "Thom and I are getting mods for our latest classes. Our scanners are last year's, and that makes them obsolete." I nodded seeing how that could be a problem then watched as the head-master walked over and grabbed my scanner. He pressed a few buttons on it then slipped a silver card into a card holder that appeared. I memorized everything he did and watched as my scanner blinked three times then sprouted a new panel which he slipped a black and red pokedex into. I glanced at him and said "Thanks headmaster. Do you mind telling me where my first class is?" He nodded and started giving me directions. When he was done I got up and waved to Ryan and Thom, who were to stunned to speak, then rushed out the door to class since it was all the way across the school grounds, and I only had five or six minutes before the tram left the station. I didn't feel like running to class on my first day since tomorrow was the day for everyone who didn't have the money for annual tuition to get jobs, and dad was making me pay my own way.

Amanda:

I sighed as I watched Jake leave out the main entrance to the hospital wing, then followed Danna out to the gym. She had to speak with her personal trainer and I had to get to cheerleading practice quick. We'd spent more time talking to Jake than we'd planned to, but it's hard not to lose track of time when you're actually having an intelligent conversation with someone who's male and not bi or homosexual. I silently laughed at myself for being such a jerk, but it seemed really true from what I'd seen of most of the football team. I ran into the locker room and changed into my cheerleading outfit without taking a shower since I'd taken one in our room before we'd left to visit the hospital wing. Despite that however Danna was in the shower scrubbing herself furiously and I wondered how Jake could have that effect on her with such a simple statement that really hadn't been meant to hurt her, only to make her see things through his eyes. I sighed softly and thought "It would be so much easier if we could tell anyone about what happened. I hide who I am behind this bonehead persona, and she lashes out at everyone she sees. I wonder how we have such different ways of dealing with things when we're identical twins."

I shook my head and rushed out to the gym wondering what was going to happen during practice since the entire school was talking about Jake, who they were calling the new kid. I sighed when I got into practice and saw that everyone else was already in front of squad captain Marissia. Marissia glanced at me and I shivered wondering how such a beautiful beagle with such calm eyes could contain so much dislike for anything that different fall into her perfect view of the world. I sighed softly as I sat down in my usual spot to listen to her tirade, and studied her for what felt like the thousandth time since we first met when I joined the squad. She was 5 feet 4 inches tall, had dark brown hair, brown and white fur in the pattern of most beagles and had a brown patch over her right eye. She had several markings painted into her fur telling of her community, her family, and multiple things about herself. I shook my head and tuned into her rant about Jake supposedly getting his friends to help him beat up Robert, and only managing to break his nose. I shook my head trying not to sigh in irritation since Jake's dad actually had told us the real story. I listened for about five minutes then sighed and said "Marissia shouldn't we start practicing, we only have the gym for another hour before we have to give it over to the advanced tactics class." She glared at me for interrupting her then thought about it and nodded in response to what I said. We all got to our feet and started doing stretches to limber up.

We stretched for about ten minutes, and throughout that time I just kept hearing different rumors about Jake. Everyone seemed to think that Ms. Kiriana had chosen to fight him because she considered him a dangerous student. Others said the headmaster had picked the fight to test him, and everyone else said that he picked her because he didn't know what he was getting into. I shook my head at the last one. The first two seemed a hell of a lot more probable, even if lady Kiriana had told us that she didn't like picking a fight with students unless she had to. I shook my head and pulled myself back to the present then finished stretching and stood up ready to start doing our routine. Marissia walked past me to the equipment room and wheeled out her infamous chalk board. Several of the girls took one look at the maneuvers at it and fainted on the spot. I studied the maneuvers slowly and shook my head having trouble believing she expected a bunch of freshman, sophomores, and the occasional junior or senior. Suddenly Mac, Danna who'd already cleaned up again, and Dasher walked into the gym. They glanced at us and Mac said "Sorry Marissia, but Lady Kitriana said the gym's ours this morning because she's going to need it during our usual time. So you guys should just go shower up, and she said to tell you if you have any problems about this take it up with her." Marissia sighed and the rest of us started waking up the freshman who'd passed out.

Marissia glared at Mac and Dasher but completely ignored Danna, as usual. I smiled at them and mouthed thanks. Mac waved it off with a casual 'Don't mention it.' Then wheeled Marissia's chalkboard back into the equipment room and pulled out his own equipment. Danna and Dasher walked over and grabbed their own equipment, then helped us get everyone into the showers. Dasher and Mac kept their eyes averted while Danna just set the people she was helping down on one of the benches and walked back out to get the last person or two who was stuck out in the gym since they didn't want anyone to get hurt. Mac and Dasher walked out as Danna walked in and smiled at us over their shoulders. We waved at them then Danna shut the door in their faces as the two of them laughed about what they'd seen. I shook my head and said "The only two guys in the school who are bi and they have to see what the girl's locker room looks like." She nodded and said "You guys need anything else?" We all slowly shook our heads and she left pulling the door shut behind her. I looked at Marissia and said "If we aren't going to be practicing then I'm going to take a shower and get to my next class." She nodded and clapped her hands then said "Ok people, let's go. I won't be held accountable for anyone who gets in trouble because they're late to class." Everyone quickly stripped out of their uniforms and ran into the showers. I slowly followed them wondering how Marissia got such wonderful results from being such a bitch.

I slowly walked to the end of the showers then turned on the water and shivered as it hit me full force with a cold blast. After a few seconds it started to warm up and I slipped off my gauntlets which I'd forgotten about in everyone else rushing to get into the showers. I reached over and set my gauntlets on a washstand and grabbed a bar of soap then started to slowly rub it between my paws getting a nice lather ready. When they were all lathered up I slowly started to rub it through my fur onto my skin. When I was completely coated in lather I worked on my head-fur with shampoo then slowly rinsed off. I stayed in the shower a little after everyone else left and let myself relax then pulled on my gauntlets and walked over to my locker. Danna walked in as I opened my locker door and said "So, you hear that Jake's going to be in your tech class?" I shook my head having not heard anything about it until just now. She grinned and said "It also appears he's taking every class he can and getting a job. I hope the jerk ends up passing out in the middle of the forest so that one of the wild pokemon or digimon can take a good chomp out of his hide." I sighed as I slowly pulled my clothes on and asked her "What's your problem with him anyway? The only one's who heard what he said were you and I, and I don't plan on telling anyone." She glared at me as if she doubted me for a few seconds then nodded and let an abashed look come on her face. She mumbled "Sorry." so softly I almost didn't hear it then walked over and opened her own locker.

I raised an eyebrow and she said "There's just something about him that doesn't settle well with me, ok?" I nodded and let the matter rest as the two of us finished getting dressed. She smiled and said "I guess I'll see you at lunch, Mac wasn't joking when he said this was our only chance to practice." I nodded and we went our separate ways. Her to battle practice with Mac and Dash, and me to mathematics with Nevyn and Thom. In the hallways I passed Jake and a dozen different pokemon that seemed to be chasing him. He smiled at me as he went by and they nodded to me knowing about my reputation as a kind person. It took me about twenty minutes to traverse the hallways despite being knowledgeable about them from being shown everything over the summer, and throughout last year. I walked into my math class just as the teacher started writing one of the theorems we'd been studying on the board.

I sighed and took my seat between Nevyn and Thom then started telling the two of them about what happened during cheer practice. They laughed about Marissia being taken down a peg then Thom mentioned he was meeting Jake and Ryan at lunch. He asked me if Danna and I would be joining him so I shrugged and said "I'll see what she says about it. So what all are the classes he's taking?" Thom grinned and gave me a detailed list then said "That's just until he takes the tests to see if he needs basic classes or can go more advanced than he is now." I nodded in understanding and the three of us turned back to listen to the professor. As we sat there my mind went over everything that had happened, yet still recorded what the teacher said by writing it down. When class was over I sighed and headed to my room since we had a free period. I didn't know what to think other than that from what Thom said, Jake was pushing himself harder than anyone else in the school would have. I wondered why until I got back to my room, then laid down and let myself slip into a light sleep.

Jake:

I slowly pushed myself to my feet silently cursing about letting Jasper get a punch through my guard. I shook my head wondering how I was going to get past the protective shield of magic he'd woven around himself, when everything I threw at it bounced back in my face. I growled softly thinking that it was just my luck to have easily gotten through my first class and be stuck when I got to the second. I slowly got to my face and saw those strange red lines covering Jasper liked they'd covered Kiriana. I smiled slightly and studied them then saw an intersection of them covering a spot slightly above and to the left of him. I smiled darkly and thought "So dragon boy's shield does have a weakness. I was just looking at the wrong area." I rushed at Jasper, who pulled his fist back preparing to slam it in my face, and jumped up kicking out at the spot where the lines seemed to be a thin net. I felt my foot connect with something then break through and ended up landing on my face. I winced and got up then turned around to see the web of lines slowly fading from around Jasper, only to appear covering his skin. I grinned and got to my feet then rushed at him and ducked under a slash that I knew was coming. I slammed my foot into his stomach knocking him back then punched him in the face cracking a few of his scales and bruising my knuckles. I jumped back and gently massaged my knuckles while Jasper looked at me with a pole axed expression.

I grinned and said "I guess aiming for your face all this time really was a bad idea. Good to know, so I guess I'll just have to keep beating the crud out of your chest and back, since you seemed very worried about me touching those areas." He growled at me and let loose a classic fire blast that I'd been expecting from dragons since I'd first met Damien last year. I jumped out of the way, however my tail got singed so I let out a long howl that told everyone just how bad it hurt. I turned to Jasper with a dark look in my eyes and said "Now I'm pissed." The lines around his body started pulsating and I saw blue ones covering leading to the areas he was going to attack. I rushed into the middle of them then started dodging his attacks until I could land a blow. The moment he inhaled for another blast of his fire breath I slammed my fist into his stomach and flipped over his head to behind him then grabbed onto his wings and slammed my foot into his spines causing them to be pressed down. He tried to turn around and bite me but I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled backwards while pressing down on his spines with my foot. Jasper let out a yell of pain then started breathing a stream of fire into the air trying to heat his throat up enough to make me let go. I realized what he was doing and kept pulling, but moved my feet away from his back onto the floor bringing him back with me.

I twisted my body backwards and flipped him over my head onto his back on the ground. A small bit of his fire breath hit my cheek scoring a thin burn across it. I winced, but instead of giving in I slammed my leg down onto his stomach and put him in another headlock, this time however I kept his snout pressed down against his throat. I knew we were both tired, which was why I was wondering which of us would pass out first. Suddenly Jasper breathed fire out of his nose into my chest burning my shirt and chest causing me to head-butt him. He suddenly stopped and I laid back letting go of his head as the white magic student who was held in reserve walked over to heal the two of us. I smiled slightly to myself as she healed me and said "So does the teacher think I can't handle myself any more?" She smiled slightly as she finished patching me up then said "Actually he wants to see how you would do against multiple opponents now since you just beat the best student in class." I blinked and said "He means tomorrow right?" She nodded and said "Yeah, you guys took the entire class period to finish." then turned to Jasper. I watched her healing him and noticed that the red lines I'd seen all over Jasper's body when we were fighting were gone, now that it was over.

I slowly pushed myself to my feet then walked over to the teacher who handed me a card for my scanner. I shoved it into the holder that I'd been given in first period and walked over to my bag. I dug around inside it then pulled on a shirt and asked the teacher "Sir, do you happen to know my next class?" He nodded and said "Yes, from here you go to technology where you'll be taking an exam to see how far your advancement will be progressed, then you have to go to your first pokemon based class. If you pass both exams highly you'll be sent on to the advanced classes and be given equipment fitting your rank. If you fail they'll put you with others of your current rank. After that I believe it's the entire school's lunch period." I nodded and bowed my head in thanks then ran outside deciding that I'd best run to my next class since the technology area was across the school. I'd already had to cross the dessert and volcano to get from my tactics class to here, this time I'd have to cross the forest and the ice field. All that plus having to cross the beach and rock fields to get from the office to first period meant my classes were probably scattered across the school. He glanced at the girl who'd healed me and said " Valerie, please tell Sixta when she gets here that I would like for her to tell Lady Dwayne that I would like to see her during lunch." Valerie nodded then sat back at her regular spot along the wall trying to relax after what she'd had to go through to heal Jasper.

I ran through the hallways out to the edge of the forest then stopped hearing a growling sound. I sighed and pressed a button on my scanner causing both my pokedex and digivice to scan the area around me. My digivice just beeped once then went silent while my pokedex opened up a holo screen showing a group of zangoose converging on my location. They were following an injured charizard. I sighed and muttered "I'll pay for this, but I can't help playing the hero." I ran forward only to knock heads with the charizard who was going in the opposite direction. We both jumped up shaking our heads and I said "Get behind me, I can handle these guys." It studied me then stepped behind me and I tossed my bag down at it's feet. It looked at me confusedly and I explained "My bag will slow me down, and if I'm to slow then these zangoose will tear me to shreds. The damn school's disclaimer says as much." It nodded and I turned back around as my pokedex said " Zangoose with deadly intent approaching recommended course of action, run." I growled softly and said "Secondary course of action?" It beeped and said "Secondary course, convince them to attack each other or disable them as quickly as you can." I nodded and said "Got it, I choose plan two. Any advice how to go about the secondary piece of your that action?" It beeped again and said "Use the area around you to get in close then find a way to defeat their speed."

I nodded deciding I'd take it's advice. I climbed up onto one of the tree branches and the charizard looked at me. I motioned for them to be quiet then leaned back against the base of the trunk watching the zangoose as they started to appear. It took a few minutes for all of them to appear in the clearing, they formed a semicircle around the charizard who started forming what appeared to be a ball of flame in it's jaws. I grinned seeing that the zangoose hadn't even noticed my bag and were instead distracted by what their intended victim was doing. I jumped down and slammed my foot into the head of one then spun and kicked the one neck to it flying into the trees. The charizard let loose a roaring fire blast that caused three of them to scatter. I nodded then slammed my fist into one that appeared in front of me out of no where and blinked as multiple red and blue lines zigzagged around the clearing. I suddenly understood that the lines were all the possible maneuvers the zangoose could do. I glanced at my only ally, the wounded charizard, and saw they were covered in green lines. I memorized that for the next time I was in a fight then ran out to the middle of the clearing and slammed my fist into a zangoose who appeared just as I got there. It looked at me stunned then slashed my arm open to the bone with its claws. I growled softly and sent it flying with a kick to the face then did a back flip and ended up going over one that had tried to sneak up on me. I wrapped my arms around it's waist and yelled at the charizard "Blast it now!!!!"

They nodded and let loose a firespin that burned the hell out of my arms and also burned through the zangoose's fur into it's skin and knocking us both back a few paces. I pulled my arms from around it, and felt a thing section of my skin peel away as the zangoose fell to the ground. The charizard nodded to me then bit down on another zangoose's shoulder then threw it into the air and blasted it with a flamethrower attack. I glanced at my arms and silently cursed myself for not thinking then lashed out with my legs taking one of the last few zangoose's in the chest knocking it back a few steps. The charizard used it's tail to send the last two zangoose flying through several trees. I smiled at them and said "I didn't get to introduce myself before this situation, so I guess I'll do so now. Hi I'm Jake, and you are?" They burst out laughing and said "You knew nothing about me yet offered to help me anyway?" I nodded and they laughed harder then said "I'm Crystal Flame, of the Flame clan. The top charizard clan here at Asterion Academy." I blinked and said "So I just saved someone who's the equivalent of fire dragon type pokemon royalty?" She nodded and I fell over laughing my ass off then screamed in pain when my arms touched a few sharp rocks.

I slowly rolled over onto my stomach and locked my arms together behind my back. I held my hands together to make sure my arms wouldn't shift then slowly used my shoulders and knees to get back to my feet. Crystal bent down and helped me up when I got to my knees, then sighed and said "So why did you help me when you knew nothing about me?" I shrugged and said "I've never been the type to let someone get beat up by greater odds, when I was around. Even when the guy or girl deserved it I've interfered. So, why were they chasing you?" She sighed and said "My father and the head of the zangoose are currently fighting with each other. I had to come here to the school for class, so they tried to ambush me a long the way. I don't know anything more than that." I nodded slowly and unclasped my hands. I walked over and picked up one of the zangoose, then slammed him into a tree and said "Why are you at war with the charizards?" He tried to spit in my face, however I punched him with my free hand before he could do so. He glared at me and I said "Tell me or so help me I will rip your god damn throat out." His eyes widened slightly with fear and he started babbling. I covered his mouth not worrying about being bitten and said "Slowly, tell me everything." He nodded multiple times until I finally moved my hand away.

He sighed deeply then said "It started five days ago. We ended up getting a new leader to our group, he seemed different." I nodded understanding that he meant the guy didn't seem like a normal zangoose. He inhaled deeply and said " He started changing the rules of our group and for the most part they were positive, until he went after the old leader's daughter. She fought back and he exiled their entire family, so no one listened when they warned he planned to declare war." I nodded understanding what happened to exile's from what a few of my friends had gone through at my old schools. I motioned for him to continue and he said "Despite the warnings we weren't ready when he declared war on multiple other groups of pokemon, the worst being the charizards who fought back. He managed to expand our territory and said if we captured the princess her father would fall." I nodded slowly and said "I'm guessing you were told if you failed you would be exiled?" He nodded and said "Yes, however the former leader offered to take in any who were exiled or left or clan. He said that it wasn't our fault we followed the commands of a corrupt leader. I originally planned on leaving, until my little brother was assigned to this. Then I volunteered to watch out for him, knowing that the princess would be guarded. Everyone else thought it was good luck when she left without her escort, but I was worried. So I told my brother to stay behind. He should be arriving shortly."

I sighed and said softly "I'll call in the pokemon rescue squad to take you guys to the center, but you should all leave the bastard who caused this before I go after him." He nodded and I started typing away on my scanner explaining the situation, but leaving out that the charizard princess Lady Crystal was involved. They said they'd be here in about an hour and that until then the area's warning system would be active, so I had five minutes to go wherever I was headed. I sighed and said "I'll see you later, Crystal. I have to hurry up and get out of here or I'm stuck." She looked at me confused and I explained "If I don't get out of here I'll be locked in until the protection squad arrives. You can either head into the school here, or come with me. Your choice, but make it quick or I'm gone." She closed her eyes and seemed to think about it then said "I'll go with you. So where are you going anyway?" I grinned and said "Across the forest, and the ice flows to get to the technology building. I'm probably going to be late, but my calling in will explain since it will be sent to my teacher."

I started running through the forest while Crystal took to the air and flew above me at the same pace. I was tired, but I had a feeling I could make it into class in under a half hour if I didn't stop. After about five minutes Crystal growled and flew lower then picked me up and said "You're taking to long, at this rate you'll bleed to death before we even get out of the forest." I snorted thinking she was wrong, but relaxed and let her carry me figuring she could probably fly faster than I could run at this rate. We flew over the forest and I silently committed everything I could make out of it into memory while silently wondering what pokemon lived through out it. Then we crossed the ice flows and I whistled softly. They were huge pillars of ice and small ice caps floating in water or on barren tundra coated land. I shivered wondering who could possibly live their then saw a large bear who seemed to be made of ice. My digivice activated and said "Fridgymon, champion level, usually has a kind nature, but when angered can be a dangerous enemy." I blinked and thought "So not all digimon are the size of humans. Good to know, wonder if there are any that turn into dragons. Wait speaking of digimon, I wonder how Danna, Amanda, and Thom are doing."

We got to the tech building and Crystal set me down then slowly dusted herself off. I slowly dusted myself off then turned walked over and dusted off the few spots she couldn't get. She smiled at me in appreciation and we walked into the building. She went off down a side hallway while I went down the main corridor and walked into my class. My teacher took one look at me and said "How did you get burned? I know you fought several zangoose, but your report never mentioned any fire type pokemon attacking you." I shrugged and said "I don't really remember much, but I don know that I need some help or I'm going to pass out." He nodded and said "Miss Samantha please come over her and heal mister Arrows so he can get to work on his test." He turned to me and said "As soon as you're done head to your next class, then head to lunch. After lunch the headmaster wants to see you." I nodded then turned to see Sam looking at me with a slightly startled expression. I smiled and said "We have got to stop meeting under such lousy circumstances." She nodded and slowly started healing me. I smiled back and nearly fell over as the energy flowed into me, then shivered as she stepped away and my flesh started to knit itself back together. When she was done I smiled and said "Thanks Sam, now if you'll excuse me I'm going to work on my test and get out of here."

She nodded and I walked to the back of the class and sat down. I glanced around looking for a computer then saw a slot in the desk and shoved my arm into it and watched as a virtual computer appeared in front of me. I pulled my arm out and started typing away to answer the questions that appeared in front of me. It took me about twenty minutes to finish the test, but when I was done I got up and saw that Crystal, Amanda, and Sam were standing around me waiting. I raised an eyebrow and they said "So do you want an escort to your next class?" I nodded and got up then turned on my scanner and typed in the name of my next class's teacher. I sighed and muttered "Across the bloody plains and through the caves. Great, just great." The others glanced at the map my scanner made and they all laughed. I looked at them and Sam said "Crystal and Amanda's classes are in that area, and mine's along the way. So if you have not problem we'll definitely go with you." I nodded and got to my feet then walked outside with the girls standing on either side of me.

I yawned when we got out into the ice flows then slowly crossed one of the many bridges that traversed them with Sam while Crystal flew overhead carrying Amanda. I sighed softly when we were across and said "Why the hell is this damn school so big?" They shrugged and I said "Ok if we're traveling together why don't you guys, TALK." They burst out laughing at me getting so annoyed, that I yelled the last word then Sam said "What do you want us to say? We were sort of expecting you to start a conversation, not get annoyed about us being silent." I sighed softly then shook my head and said "Alright how do you three know each other's names?" Sam shrugged slightly and said "Amanda and I are on the cheerleading squad, and Crystal came in looking for you while you were taking your test, so we asked her how she knew you. From there we started talking, and here we are." I blinked and shook my head muttering "How women can become such fast friends is beyond me." They laughed again and Crystal said "You just don't understand how our minds work because your male." I grinned and said "Damn right, and I'm proud of it." They burst out laughing again and I started running across the plains since my scanner constantly showed different pokemon and digimon passing nearby. It even registered a few anthros and humans going past by their id numbers.

I yawned and slowed down to a walk since I didn't want to waste all my energy before I got to class, but the girls only slowed down to a steady jog and stayed ahead of me. I shrugged to myself and studied the three of them curiously. Amanda was about the size of most other renamon, but instead of the regular black markings and purple gauntlets, she had silver markings and light blue gauntlets. I also noticed that she had black fur where most of her kind had white and wondered about her sister since this was the first time I'd ever studied either one. Then I blinked and realized that she was wearing a t shirt and shorts which was unheard of among most digimon. I slowly shook my head then glanced at Crystal wondering why her parents named her as such when she seemed like a normal charizard to me. I slowly let my eyes roam over her back, wings, shoulders, legs, and tail until I noticed a white spot in the middle of her wings. I'd heard of charizards having darker spots on their skin, but never of them having white markings. I sighed and thought "Why is it I always end up saving people who obviously are hiding things?" I shook my head and started studying Sam who had the normal fox coloring of red and white, however she had blue tribal markings painted on her arms and legs. She also had black markings going down the sides of her tale.

I shook my head as the three of them dropped back to walk with me and said "So what classes are you guys taking." Sam shrugged and said "I'm mostly taking advanced courses, but I'm taking basic fighting, basic battle magic, and basic tactics." Crystal yawned letting out a slight flame then said "I'm taking mid level classes, other than advanced tactics, basic magic, and advanced fighting." I blinked and looked at Amanda who shrugged and said "My classes are mostly advanced with mid level tech, fighting, healing, and black magic classes." I nodded somewhat confused about the advanced, mid and basic level system, but unwilling to admit as much. They glanced at me and started to ask what was wrong when all of a sudden the four of us heard someone coming toward us rather quickly and yelling _"_WATCH OUT!!!!" We turned around and saw Dasher charging at us at break neck speed followed closely by Mac, Thom, Ryan, and a huge group of beedrill. I glanced at Crystal and said "Crystal, fire please..... Quickly!" She nodded and let loose a flame thrower as Dasher and Ryan dived down at our feet. Mac and Thom saw it coming then seemed to get the idea and dived out of the way creating their own flames. The two of them got to their feet slowly and let loose their own fire attacks which combined with Crystal's flame thrower to create a wall of flame that stopped the beedrill in their tracks. They turned around and started flying away.

The eight of us watched them go with a sense of satisfaction. Dasher and Ryan slowly got to their feet then the two of them, along with Mac and Thom walked over to us. I smiled and said "Hey Dash, you guys couldn't out run a bunch of flying bugs? I thought you were on the track team." He grinned slightly and said "I could have outrun them, but I'm not the type to leave my friends behind. So, what made you guys think fire would stop them?" I shrugged and said "To me they were just a bunch of bugs, and bugs hate fire." He nodded then said "I'll have to remember that the next time I'm in trouble with any bug type pokemon." I nodded and Crystal said "Who are these four Jake?" I stretched out slightly and said "Dasher was my first friend when I came here to the school, Ryan is a buneary who showed me around the school yesterday, Thom is the black agumon, and he's probably one of the most intellegent people I've ever met. The white tiger's Mac, however I don't really know him to well." Mac smiled slightly and said "I'm one of Sam's good friends. You're Crystal the princess of the fire dragon pokemon. I was there when the headmaster announced you were going to be a part of the school."

I sighed and continued walking wondering what it was that ended up making my friends show up where ever I was or where I was headed. Dax fell into step beside me and everyone else pretty much either fell in beside us or followed us. I sighed and said "So what's your next class Dash?" He sighed and said "I'm on my free period, but Mac and Ryan asked me to go with them across the plains and Thom said he wanted to come with us. I agreed since he needed to get to a class that requires going from the plains to the mountains, but I'm starting to regret the path we took. We ended up walking through the woods, took a few wrong turns and ended up in the middle of a bunch of beedrill hives. Then Thom accidentally knocked over one of their kakuna." I nodded in understanding and said "So they chased you trying to protect their nests, then followed you instead of turning back. You guys thought you could outrun them, but they gained on you to quickly." He nodded and the others chimed in their agreement. We walked for another ten minutes and suddenly found ourselves staring at a giant rock wall with a bunch of caves going throughout it. Everyone started discussing what they were going to do next and the guys decided they were going to head over to the tram station and go back to the dorms since the only one who had class was Thom. Thom muttered something about his class being nearby and waved to all of us then rushed off. I watched him go and memorized that most agumon were small dinosaurs with varying skin color.

I sighed and studied Dasher, Ryan and Mac as they walked off toward the tram station at a sedate pace. Dasher was a well built and had the usual spot configuration of a cheetah, however he also had some gold mixed into his fur which if I remembered correctly was the sign of a king cheetah. Ryan was an average buneary with brown fur, blue eyes, and white markings on his paws, and back. Mac was a white tiger with an abnormal stripe pattern, who had this aura of confidence about him. When they were out of site the three girls and I walked into the cavern system and my scanner started explaining about the different types of terrain finally. I sighed and glanced at my scanner which had been silently scanning each of my friends since the others had joined up and now displayed information about them. I stored the information away in the scanner's primary database and the followed the girls who were already good twenty or thirty feet away. It was hard to judge distance and time in the cave.

We walked for what seemed like hours, but was probably only ten to twenty minutes and ended up on the other side of the caves in front of a huge building with a sign that read "Pokemon Research Area." I glanced at the others and they smiled at me then headed inside to go to their own classes. I walked in and headed to my first ever pokemon class. The teacher looked at me then pointed to the end of the room and said "Go over to that vid screen and answer the questions as they come up. Don't be afraid to guess, because wrong answers are better than no answer." I nodded and walked over then touched my scanner to the screen and it lit up. I slowly started answering each and every question as it came on screen wondering why the heck these they seemed as if they were made for children not young adults. As the test progressed the questions started to make me think more and more, and I had to occasionally answer the questions by guessing. A few times I had to go back to things I'd heard only in rumors, and that's when I realized that something really weird was going on with these questions. It seemed almost as if the later questions were designed by pokemon to see how much those that took the test were taught by their parents.

I finished and shut down the vidscreen then walked outside to find the girls were already on their way to lunch. I grinned and ran up the side of the mountain, glad my dad had sent me to that weird physical trainer when I was younger, and got to the top of the mountain just as the others were coming out of the tunnel. I jumped down and landed next to them then said "I'll see you guys at lunch I need to head to the main building and speak to the headmaster." They nodded and went toward the tram that would take them to the lunch room, while I went in the opposite direction. As soon as they were out of sight I started running toward the main office, using the occasional boulder to propel myself forward. I silently thanked whatever beings were out their that I was a hybrid because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to handle all the stress I pushed my body through. It took me about half an hour but I got to the office just as the bell rang for everyone to go to lunch. I grinned and said "Wow, we finished class early." The grin died slightly as I thought about it for a while then said "Wonder whether or not that's a good thing."

I walked into the main office and the secretary nodded for me to head on into the headmaster's office. I slowly walked in and he said "Hello Jake. I see you've managed to survive your first day with minimal injury, despite facing a horde of zangoose, and protecting the young lady Crystal." I blinked and he said "Yes I know all about that, we saw on the recorders that you intervened to protect her despite the fact that if you hadn't you may have escaped unharmed yourself. You have never seemed the type who would let others get hurt just because you didn't know them so it didn't surprise me when I found out. However that's not why I called you in here." I nodded and sat down in one of the chairs he had laid out in front of his desk and he continued "You are one of the most advanced students at the school. So I'm not placing you in regular classes, instead I'm putting you in all advanced classes, and I'm going to have you tutor a few of the other students. Do you have a problem with any of this?" I shook my head and he smiled then pushed a tin of cards over to me. I looked at him questioningly and he said "Equip those into your deck, and be ready to use them at a moment's notice." I nodded slowly and he leaned back in his chair.

I studied him and said "You knew I'd end up at this school long before my dad ever thought of signing me up, didn't you." He nodded slowly with a slight smile on his face and said "Yes, but only because I have a special device that allows me to view one of the paths the future may face. Would you like to use it?" I growled softly and said "Only fools try to understand the future when they live in the present. My grandfather told me that before we moved and I took that lesson to heart." He nodded and said "I understand that, but don't you want to know if your dreams are real." I growled softly surprised that anyone knew about my dreams let alone this old man who seemed to know to much. I motioned for him to give me whatever he'd used to see in the future and wondered why I had such a bad feeling about it. He pulled out silver orb that he placed in my hands. He smiled slightly and said "Focus on the future, and let the orb and your magic do the rest." I snorted at the thought that I had magic then looked into the orb and imagined I could see the future.

Slowly I felt as if I was being pulled into the orb. It started with losing feeling in my extremities then slowly moved inward from there. After a few seconds I couldn't see, hear, or feel anything other than the orb. As I looked in it the room started to change to a street in the middle of a broken city. I looked around me slowly wondering where the hell I was and how I'd gotten there. Suddenly a voice in my mind said "This is what you sought, a stream of the future if the events that must happen do not." I looked around trying to find the voice before I realized it really was only in my mind. I slowly started walking forward wondering what could possibly live in a place like this. Suddenly I saw a young boy of about age four run across the street only to be swooped up by a strange creature with pitch black fur and misshapen wings. I followed it with my eyes and the voice said "The creatures of darkness will invade the world, and the forces of light will be overwhelmed. This can only be stopped by the hero who is born of many and yet the child of only one can find the keys, and release who they truly are. They must also have the help of each race, whether it be those that are man and beast, those that are code and flesh, or those that are born as beasts yet as intelligent as any other race." I nodded slowly commiting everything it said to memory.

Suddenly I was back in the headmaster's office. He looked at me and said "I think you should keep that. It may prove more helpful to you than an old man like me." I nodded and slipped the orb into my pocket then asked "Is there anything else you needed from me?" He smiled slightly and said "Only that the rest of your classes don't start until tomorrow and in the morning when you pick your job I will have several modifiers for your scanner." I nodded and slowly got to my feet, then he said "One more thing before you go, I would like you to see me tomorrow after your classes are over." I nodded and he said "I'll show you how to use the orb. I forgot to mention, that your dorm room is A 7792 in the male's dorms of course." I nodded and walked ot the door then turned around and caught the card he'd tossed at my back. He smiled and said "That's so your scanner will allow you into your room, and that you can find it." I nodded and smiled in thanks then walked outside and followed my scanner to the guys dorms.

As soon as I got to the dorms I slipped my room card into my scanner and it led me to the room. I looked at it then held my scanner up to the door lock and the door slowly swung open. Inside were two bunk beads, a huge vid screen, a door that probably led to the bathroom, multiple closets, a window facing the west which led to the forest, several dressers, and a fridge. I tossed my bag at the foot of one of the bunks then climbed into the top bed which appeared to have been unoccupied and slipped into a much needed sleep.

Alright Ladies and Gentleman it's question time. What could the orb have possibly meant? Who is the headmaster and why does it seem like he knows more than the orb can tell him? What happened to Danna and Amanda to cause their stress? Why didn't Lady Kiriana appear in this chapter? When will the Yiff arrive? Who are Dwayne and Sixta and what do they have to do with the rest of the story? Why is the author unwilling to answer any of these questions yet?

Well to be nice I'll answer two of these questions and questions about my other seris right here. First off, The yiff will arrive in the next chapter so BE PATIENT!!!!!! Second the reason I don't answer these questions yet, is I'm a very cruel guy and If I answer these questions you have no reason to read the story.

With that said I have a few things I can say that you should be happy to know. One Highschool Life will be continued shortly. 2. My other stories are all ready to be continued, and I'm ready to work on them with this chapter done. 3.
