Sahn, a wolf that needs some money for college enters a scientific study that turns out to be more than he was expecting. A quick piece of art and a short story to accompany it.

Wombful of Research

August

"A fertility study group," Zahn asked, "That covers all college expenses?"

"That's what our flyers say," the Fox responded with a smile, "Just remember, you have to respond quickly if you want to reserve your spot. We only have a lot of openings for males, but they've also been the ones responding the most."

The Wolf scratched his chin. That was a lot of money that he would not have to worry about any more. Two semesters of additional responsibility going to meetings might be a pain though...

"Any extra essays or anything I'd have to write for the full amount?"

The fox shook his head, "Nope. All of that is handled by the ones doing the study. You just need to show up on the days we tell you and answer our anonymous survey honestly."

Zahn nodded, it sounded almost too easy, "Alright, where do I sign up?"

September

The Wolf thought that the study was a joke when he showed up to his first meeting. The fertility study claimed to be testing ways to swap the roles of pregnancy. A temporary drug that allowed women to impregnate, and men to be impregnated.

He had laughed at the concept until that first week of September, when it seemed everyone in the study got the flu at the same time. Or, at least, all of the males did.

Zahn would wake up and immediately sprint to the toilet to vomit. This occurred several days in a row, and when he brought it up at one of the study's weekly meetings, many of his peers complained about the same.

Instead of checking to make sure if they were sick, the researcher's eyes lit up in excitement. What the Wolf, and many others, were complaining about was proof of what they wanted. It seemed like the study would be a success.

October

Early into October, Zahn's refusal at the reality of his situation stomped out as he began feeling the firmness in his gut. There was definitely something in there. And unless the study was lying to him, he had a feeling he knew what it meant.

As the weeks went on, his usual pants stopped fitting. The only thing in his wardrobe that would fit were his sweatpants. The truly worrying thing for the Wolf was that none of his peers seemed to be experiencing the sudden weight gain.

November

It was right before Thanksgiving that Zahn got his weight gain explained. While the his peers were all carrying a single child, the Wolf had gotten "lucky" with twins. Not yet even three months into his bizarre pregnancy, and he was struggling to find clothes that fit him.

Studying for his exams seemed impossible. Whether it was hormones or just the situation itself, sitting down and focusing had become a constant battle.

His morning sickness reappeared as during this time as well.

December

Having to be present for all of the study's meetings meant that he was unable to go home for the holidays.

It was not like Zahn wanted everyone at home to know about what was happening in the first place. His brother would have not made it easy, and his parents would not have understood the financial benefit.

Zahn was sitting on a couch in his dorm's communal room. He had been watching the movie "Elf" when he first felt it.

The flutter of something from within him. He put his paw on his belly, which had now distended into a small beer gut, and waited. His paw waited there for many minutes until he finally took it off and dismissed it as gas.

And then he felt it again.

January

As Zahn passed into the halfway point of his pregnancy, several changes began to make their appearance all at once.

Even though the Wolf was already carrying much larger than any of his peers, thanks to the fact he was eating for three, there were other changes that the study had failed to mention were possible.

Firstly, his hips and ass had gotten much thicker. Men's clothes refused to fit, even when he increased the size. Seeing no other solution, Zahn had accepted that he was going to be stuck wearing maternity clothes for the rest of his pregnancy.

Secondly, his back was really beginning to kill him. The weight of carrying around two pups was bad enough to warrant him giving up his daily walks around campus.

Thirdly, the pups had gone from an occasional flutter to a full blown nonstop beating of his insides. They constantly shoved their limbs up into his ribs, and would painfully kick him moments after. He had nearly pissed himself when they decided that the middle of a lecture was the perfect time to press into his bladder. The tight rows of the auditorium seating had been a mess to navigate in his burdened state.

And finally, his hormones were all over the place. He cried at one of the television shows he had been watching, and another time when one of his roommates jokingly called him fat. The strangest one was when he got his grades back for the previous semester and saw that he had maintained a 4.0 average. Why would he cry at something like that?

February

Outside of the constant looks, Zahn had a pretty easy February. His professor's seemed to take pity on the gravid Wolf, allowing him to turn in many of his assignments late, or in some rare cases, not at all.

This allowed for the Wolf to spend more time relaxing on his own. He luckily caught himself mindlessly talking to the pups growing within him before any of his roommates did.

March

One of the Wolf's peers brought up a new symptom to the researchers one week. They were complaining about sensitive nipples and what looked like a small pair of breasts that had appeared. They, of course, were not the only ones. Roughly half of the study was reporting the same thing.

Zahn was for once relieved when when he realized he was one of the lucky ones to not have such a side effect. His rejoicing came to a swift end when the researcher's told them that they would all eventually have the same thing happen, and that the others were experiencing such changes a bit earlier than expected.

April

Today marked the end of the eighth month of the study, and Zahn could feel every bit of it.

Zahn looked at himself in his mirror. He was only wearing a pair of red underwear. His mountain of a belly stretched out far beyond the underwear's waistband.

As was the case since pretty much the beginning, Zahn was much larger than his peers. While they looked like they still had some growing to do, The Wolf felt like his was at his max. His pups were running out of room, which meant that, while they stopped being quite so active as before, it also meant every single tiny movement was felt.

He put his hands on either sides of his hips and slowly slid them up his belly. He could not remember when it had started, but at some point the simple act of brushing his belly had become a relaxing one.

Sleeping had become the Wolf's favorite past time. The energy needed to lug his massive weight around was tiring enough, but the constant rude awakenings from his inhabitants is what was really taking its toll.

"You guys ready to come out yet," he asked.

A weak squirm was his only response.

Just a few days ago one of his peers had gone into labor early. The Wolf had been jealous since.

"Come on, I don't want to go home with you guys still hanging out in me," he complained.

One of the pups attempted to stretch in response, causing Zahn to grimace.

"Please?"
