Hey guys~ I haven't written anything in quite awhile, I know, but I just wanted to see if some of my writing will still be good enough and blah~ if I have time in life, I hope to keep going with some of my stories (which I half started on my computer haha). Anyways, enjoy just a bit of a different idea I had, and hope you like it! Please critique, as I am ALWAYS looking for help with writing!

The snow fell lightly and steadily upon the cobblestone road, covering it with a thin layer of white. It was a cold night in the city, enough to make anyone hug their winter coats snugly about themselves, trying to capture whatever extra warmth they could. For such a cold night however, the city was bustling about, people in gowns and suits walking to and fro. All of them though were heading to one place: a big glowing domed building called The Crystal Hall.

Couples nervously whispered to themselves as they neared the building, most never even seeing it. Some loitered outside, waiting for a friend or two to show up, and when they arrived, would hastily walk inside. However, none knew that up above, in a lone window, a figure was staring at the crowd in disgust.

**************

Prince Alphonse Martangyzk Lupins growled in frustration, his pointy white teeth showing. He hated it when Father would arrange a surprise ball or social event. He never did like to mingle with the other crowd, which would go on and on with some kind of drabble or another. The Prince didn't care much for his princehood, preferring really to have never been prince. However, his Father had different plans, always finding some way or another to get his son to the events at hand, trying to push his heritage on him.

He turned from the window, the military uniform that he wore swishing around with a dark blue cape. Across his chest he had many badges and awards, granted to by his father for the battles he won during the war. Not only smart in both the field and off it, but he was also a dashing black colored wolf, the charmer of many ladies and the envy of many gentlemen. He never noticed this however, since he never truly cared either way.

The Prince sighed, not wanting to take any part in the ball, celebrating the finishing of the Crystal Hall, which had been finished for months now! The only thing that intrigued him was the way that the Crystal Hall was designed, which was a magnificent display of crystal, stone, and marble. In the dome part of the building, two large elaborate bedrooms were constructed especially for The Prince and his Father just in case they needed to stay for the night.

The Prince was in his room, getting ready for the hectic garble of speech that he knew was going to come at him as soon as he entered the room. The Dukes would be talking politics, the richer merchants would talk of the economy, which was at a high, and The Prince would slowly but eventually go insane by the time the night was finished. His mind was already pulsing, blood flowing as he just thought of how much of a headache he was going to get!

A guard then walked down the street, sneaking a couple that obviously wasn't invited in, but disguised well enough to fool some of the guards around. Then, out of nowhere, The Prince came up with an idea, so cunning and simple; he couldn't believe he didn't think of it sooner! He quickly pulled off his clothes, and put on a regular traveler's suit that he found in a closet, apparently left by one of the workers that had constructed the building. He grinned mischievously and held out the coat in front of him. 'This is going to be fun!' he thought, his excitement getting wilder and wilder as he put on a hooded cape and crept out of the building, making sure to not be seen.

The people thronged to the building, a crowd beginning to pile up when a particularly fat walrus tried to squeeze himself through the doors, but naturally got stuck. It took a couple of the royal guards around the building to squeeze him through, and even then it took a bit of effort. It didn't take them very long to do this in the end, but it took just long enough to let a lone figure covering his face with a winter cape to exit the building, unnoticed or uncared for by all.

The Prince looked behind him, the Crystal Hall nowhere in sight, covered by the sight of the tall buildings he and his Father ruled over. He let out a small chuckle, which eventually escalated into a hearty laugh. He laughed till he was bent over, out of breath, but still smiled. He had never been so free in his life! He felt as though his heavy shackles were finally unlocked and he could run and do what he wanted! Everything in his life had been brought to him; he never got anything on his own without some kind of intervention. But now... He grinned in delight. Now it was his turn to do what he wanted.
