#1 of Kaeryn Gone Male; New Days

Wanted to write more with Kaeryn Gone Male series, but didn't know where to go from the last bit, so we start new! I updated Kaeryn so why not update and start the series anew? I hope you enjoy!

"It's been years now since I went through the changes to be a male wolf, and I say wolf because there were other cosmetic surgeries and such that came about after the gender changing thing. I'm now a 'sparkle wolf' as some call me. Adular Lumen to be exact. More wolf, less African Wild dog in looks. My fur is brown with hints of tan around my sides and tail, an almost.. sparkly look with gem patterns on my short tail, around my face and body. Oh and I have horns, my old self didn't." He sighed, "The changes and everything else were too much to stay where I was, so I moved here.."

"You moved here, to a busy City to, what.. disappear?" The gazelle asked as she raised a brow as he was describing the way he looked, as if she were blind.

Kaeryn placed both hands on his face and groaned, "Pretty much.." He was laying on a couch at a therapists office, one of the things he has been needing to do of late.

"I have a feeling you're going to tell me that it didn't work?" She looked him over, pen in hand tapping at the book she held.

"Very much a yes." He closed his eyes. "It started out fine, changing my name back to what I was given at birth, although a last-name change was needed, as it wasn't too common and I didn't want people asking questions." He sat up then and looked towards the Gazelle. "I was here only a week before I realized that going straight back to Kaeryn, was a bad idea. Not because I would be found out, but because it was more a.. female name then male. So once again I found myself changing it, but I changed it to Kyle. Keep the K and be on my way." He nodded. "After that I was pretty set, I found an apartment, job and life was pretty good."

"But you just said it didn't work. It more sound like it's working perfectly." She answered him in kind.

"You would think so!" He stood and started to walk around the office. "So, I drive a bus.. I love driving the bus. I get to meet all these different kinds of people, listen to their stories and help them get on their way. But! Lo and behold my SISTER shows up out of the blue on MY BUS, with a CHILD!" His eyes were wide and he was panting. His hands were out and in fists. The Gazelle just watched his anger come and go, head tilting curiously. He took a hand and ran it through his face fur. "Anyway... Here I am in this grand City, thinking I got away with everything back home when home comes to me!!"

"Did she recognize you?" The gazelle asked.

"No." He answered.

"Did she threaten you?"

"No."

"Then why are you so worried?"

"I guess.. I just wanted a new start away from -everything-, including old blood." He sat back down, head leaning back against the cushion.

"Listen. If she didn't recognize you, threaten you or really talk to you at all, there is honestly no worry. She just came to Toronto to start a new life like yourself. It seems with a new family as well. So take a breath and relax. As long as the pup is not yours, you have nothing to worry about." She smiled and wrote a few things into her book.

'Child.. how old was that child..' He thought to himself. The years that went by weren't many as he counted them on his fingers, but the size of that child would be too small to be his own anyway, so he calmed as she suggested. The gazelle looked at her watch, "Time is up. Do you wish for me to make you another appointment for the same time next week?" Kyle nodded and they both stood. "Alright, I will see you this time next week then. Remember, stay calm and collected, she is not here to haunt you." She gave him a quirky smile as she led him to the door and saw him out.

After the appointment was done, Kyle went back to his apartment to relax. He had a late shift last night and had today off, so there wasn't much to do besides relax and drink in the cool air of Autumn. That is.. until he met -her-. A beautiful African Wild Dog came into the building and up the stairs to where the elevators were and where Kyle was standing waiting for them. He swallowed hard. She looked different, more.. grown, but it was most definitely her. Chloe gave Kyle a side eye as the two walked up to wait for the elevator. The tension seemed too much, until the pup opened his mouth.

"Who are you?" He asked. His wide brown eyes almost staring Kyle down.

Kyle took a breath. "I'm Kyle, I live in this building. I see that you do too, or else the doors wouldn't have opened for you." He gave the pup a smile.

"The doors aren't magic! Mummy opened them with a KEY!" He stated matter of factly.

"Is that so?" Kyle looked to Chloe with a raised brow. "Maybe she has magic. Maybe that's what let you in."

"Noooo! We have a key! See!!" He pointed to the key in his mothers hand just as the doors of the elevator opened. The pup didn't wait and ran straight through and parked himself in a corner. Kyle looked to Chloe and motioned for her to go first. She made no eye contact or anything as she stepped on, he followed. She looked stressed, more stressed then a mother should have looked.

As the elevator doors closed, he could hear her sigh and look down towards her son. He was in the corner as far as he could go, facing the wall. It would be some time until Kyle got off, since he was near top floor. His eyes went to the numbers to the side of the door and watched them climb. Then he looked to the numbers pressed, only his floor had been touched, he forgot he even did it since it's habit to just walk right in and press the key, he never has to think of it anymore. It seemed that floor eighteen was where Chloe was off to as well.

They got to the floor without issue, and in silence. Kyle wanted to say something but kept his words to himself. The pup stepped out first, being rather happy he was off the elevator and his mother followed. Kyle got off last and was watching where they went. He didn't mean to watch, but being a bus driver he always liked to know that his riders got home safely, even if that meant driving them right to their home if it was on route and dark out. Chloe didn't walk far as she stopped at the door down the hall from his. Neighbours. She put the key in the hole, opened the door and closed it behind as her pup ran inside. Interesting.

The rest of his day was pretty boring. Games, television, watching planes go by and eating chips.. nothing much exciting on a day off. That was, until there was a knock on his door. He stood and wandered to it, peeking through the door-hole before opening. It was Chloe? He unlatched the lock and opened the door.

"Sorry to bother you, my husband isn't home yet and I have a... problem." She was looking straight at him.

"And you came to me because?" He was curious of her reason.

"Because Max said you were the kind bus driver from last night, and said that you knew a lot of things." She sighed, "We just moved in and he was all too excited that you happened to be our neighbour." She looked down the hall towards her open door. "He loves stories, and you happened to tell him one last night about fixing a light that had burnt out in your home. Simple story yes, but I had no idea the fixtures in this place would be so... complicated." She looked back to Kyle.

"Ah yes, the ole screw on glass bubbles." Kyle gave her a smile, "Sure I can come over and do that for you." He stepped out into the hall and closed his door.

Chloe looked from him to his door, probably wondering why he wasn't locking it. He then proceeded down the hall to her place with her at his heel.

"If you ever need anything, just give me a knock." He gave a nod as he went in. The apartment layout was similar to his, only the kitchen was placed differently. He raised a hand to ask a question before Max ran through. "Light in bedroom." He pointed down the hall to the rooms and guided the way.

"Seee, we live here!" Max started to say as Kyle fixed the light. "Daddy got a better job so we moved here from out West!" The little boy grinned wide. "I sawd.. uh saw you were from there too!"

Kyle almost fell from the stepladder he had been standing on as Max said that, "Why do you say that?" He asked.

"Max saw your old photo ID from Alberta, worn and old but we could read your name on it." Chloe said as she walked into the room.

Crap, that old ID. It has his new look on it but one of the old names he had gone by still, he forgot that he had that in his bus.

"He had been wanting to ask the next we saw you, why you changed your name." Chloe had clothes in hand and started to put them away into Max's drawer.

"Ah yes, the name change." He tried to think of an excuse on the spot. "Scott is my middle name, and I wanted to start going by my first name. New home, new name sort of deal." He was sweating, hoping that lie was good enough. Chloe just nodded as she put the clothes away.

"So, what brings you to Toronto?" He asked, wanting to be nice and strike up a convo with his new neighbour.

"My husband got a good job here in construction, since the GTA is growing faster then back out at home. More work, more pay. I too hope to get a job out this way, since I was a stay at home mom when Max was born. Being old enough to go to school now though gives me an equal chance out in the world." She smiled and hummed as she finished putting things away.

Then there was a new sound in the apartment. "I'm home!"

"Daddy!!" Max ran out of the room.

"Speak of the devil and he will come." Chloe laughed, "Come, I will introduce you."

Kyle followed Chloe back outside the room and down the hall where her husband was waiting. If Kyle hadn't leaned against a wall just then, he would have fainted. Too many surprises were happening today and he wasn't a fan at all. First his blood sister moves into his building, and THEN he finds out her husband is his old ex from high school when he was a she. Too weird. Too much.

"Kyle, this is Daniel my husband. Daniel this is the bus driver that Max was going on about last night." Chloe place a hand on Daniel's shoulder as she gave his cheek a kiss in greeting.

"Good man Kyle! Thanks for taking care of my two last night!" He stepped forwards and gave him a hard slap on the arm. "I was in a panic last night hearing the two got lost, but happened to flag your bus down. You're a good man." He smiled wide and picked up Max as he headed towards the kitchen. Chloe and Kyle were left standing there in silence.

"Well thank you again for helping me with that light, I've never seen one of that make before." She turned to see him out.

"Not a problem. Old building, old light. If you ever need anything I'm just down the hall." He bowed his head in kind and headed back home.

His heart was racing after he clicked his door shut and locked it. Man oh man, it's been three years here as he was and thought life was finally moving on, and now this?! Things are going to get weird.
