The Feline Devils

Chapter One: Invasion - Part Two

"Milady? Milady, please wake up."

Queen Kgoral awoke to the gentle prodding of her maid, Riva. She saw slight fear in the maid's eyes and asked, "What is it?"

"My deepest apologies for disturbing you, my queen, but the gizians have returned, this time in force," Riva said quickly, curtsying. The queen jumped out of bed and began getting her gear on for battle.

"When did they arrive? Why wasn't I notified sooner?" she demanded.

The maid looked frightened, "They j-just barely h-had time to come t-tell us, they've been coming down to the planet for hours," Riva stammered out, "Our warriors have been fighting them and our harpoon cannons have been firing nonstop trying to take down their ships before they land." The queen finished and rushed out of her chambers, her personal guard rising to follow. Joyal, with her battle scarred face and body, her bow was strung and an arrow notched. The other guard was Ialown, a close friend of her daughter and one of her fiercest warriors. She alone was able to hold off thirty of those gizian forces.

"Have you sent a message to the rest of the fortresses?" the queen asked.

"Yes, messages have been sent and received, they will be here within six hours," Joyal answered her.

"Then may Xialys smile upon us until they arrive," the queen sighed. She walked briskly towards the observation tower. She wanted to see what her people were facing. Queen Kgoral came to the bottom of the tower and took the steps two at a time, startling her guards with her sudden increase in speed. She came to the top of the tower, the highest tower in the palace and looked through the crude telescope there. She saw the gizian forces bunkered down about 3 miles away from the shield Xialys put around the palace to protect it many centuries previous. The shield has proven not the strongest, but it proved effective for protecting the palace from such evils as the gizians. It was created to stop and render harmless all electronic devices that pass through it for ten seconds, which would mean disaster for their ships and missiles especially. After seeing her people keeping the gizians gradually moving back, she turned the scope skyward and dropped the telescope. Someone dived and caught it before it shattered, she didn't see who and she didn't really care. She had seen death for her people hovering high above their planet.

"My queen?" Ialown sounded worried. Queen Kgoral had never shown fear of anything before, but now her face was likely contorted enough to strike fear into even the hardest heart. "My queen? Are you alright?"

"There are about thirty of their ships up there. How will we ever defeat so many?" The queen shook her head to try and clear it before continuing, "They have many battleships up there, I knew they were strong but this is a bit much. I suppose I can see why they are the rulers of this great existence they call the Gizmos, but we shall fight my sisters. Fight and show them just what it means to face the triviaeli, let us live up to the name they have given us and take down a hundred of them for everyone of us who falls!"

Queen Kgoral hurried through the castle, past bowing servants and decorations in gold and silver and all sorts of other things, through to the nearest platform housing the harpoon cannons. She walked onto the balcony to see her sisters running all over trying to get the cannons ready for the next firing. Everyone was so intent on their tasks that they failed to see their queen's presence at first, until Joyal cleared her throat loudly.

"My sisters, ready the cannons, but do not fire. Spread the word to wait until they send more down," the queen instructed once quiet had fallen.

"But my queen," one of the younger triviaeli began, "Do they really have more to send?"

"Yes, they have more," Queen Kgoral went back inside to direct the battle from her war room.

Fleet Admiral Zim stood on the bridge waiting as the final preparations were being made. The last dropships finished their pre-battle tests and the soldiers awaited his words in rank upon rank below. Screens had been brought up to broadcast his words to the other forces on all of the ships in the fleet. This was only a fraction of the Gizian fleet, containing only thirty ships, and only three capital-class. Zim brought his wandering mind back to the task on hand and smiled at his army.

"My fellow members of the Grand Gizian Army, today we bring to heel a new member of the Gizdom. Today we bring unity of another race into this great empire we have built. I wish you all luck and may we all make it out alive."

The army below the bridge and the armies assembled from every ship moved to their dropships to be ready for the invasion to truly begin. The fleet admiral made his way to Razgriz13, "Raz, I suspect something is going to happen to me today, I want you to remain with Admiral Waownat and undermine his plans in any way that you can, is that understood?"

The android looked at the fleet admiral and nodded his head, "I won't like it, but I shall do as you ask."

Zim spared a final nod at the android and made his way to the dropship where the others were already waiting. They all silently piled on to the small dropship, Bawn sitting on the floor. The dropship shook as it came to life. "Computer," the fleet admiral said, "Relay the drop sequence, begin on my mark."

"Drop sequence verified, checked, and relayed. Awaiting Fleet Admiral Zim's command to begin," the feminine voice intoned, coming from every and yet nowhere.

"Go. Open the shields" The dropship's heavy metal shields slid back from thick glass. The fleet admiral watched as the clear airlock doors slid shut, closing the bridge off from the docking bay below. Technicians were hurriedly finishing their tasks and rushing out. As the last technician dashed out, the metal airlock doors slammed shut and the middle of the floor opened outward. Through the gap, Zim could see other dropships already making their way to the planet below. GROs aboard the ship were pushing the decoy dropships through the opening as the rest were starting up. Finally it was their turn. The dropship started up and flew through the hatch into the open space, the pilot added a little burst of energy to get them going in the right direction and the ship hurtled towards the planet. The ship began to pick up speed as it entered Klovinia's atmosphere. They broke through the clouds to see the many trees of the jungles below. The fleet admiral noticed something though, they were off course, headed straight for the palace and its shield!

"Pilot! We're going the wrong way!" The fleet admiral got up and headed to the cockpit to find no one there. A screen lit up showing the face of Admiral Waownat smiling at him.

"I swore I would get this position, and now you've willingly played right into my trap," the admiral mocked him and laughed. "Bow before the new Fleet Admiral Waownat!" Zim shot the screen.

"JENN! I need you in here NOW! We have no pilot!"

Admiral N'dore rushed into the cockpit and took the pilot's chair, "Strap in sire, this is going to be a rough crash, but I'll do what I can."

Zim hurried back to his seat as he felt the ship lose power as it passed through the shield.

"Blast! I have to do it manually," Jenn shouted from the cockpit. Zim sat down hurriedly and strapped himself in, he saw Panwque's face contorted in terror, the young mlantosh's mouth moved, though Zim heard nothing. Honet was sitting rigidly with his eyes shut tight and Zim thought he might have heard the otawri's teeth grinding over top of the crashes from outside. Bawn was grimly holding on to the bars overhead as he was tossed around like a ragdoll. Only Enigm and the captain were still calm. Zim had never seen Enigm afraid of anything, they had held off waves of edar and still the warrior was as calm as a mountain lake. As for the captain? Well, he went through unspeakable horrors at the hands of the edar, nothing much could frighten him after having survived that.

Zim saw the triviaeli palace fill the view through the windows before crashing. The only thought he had before the fire consumed him was how horribly he was going to torture Admiral Waownat before finally allowing him to have the blessed release of death.

Queen Kgoral was knocked to the floor as an earthquake shook the palace. Dust and debris started flowing from a hallway connecting to the one she was following. Servants were running from the hallway followed by guards helping a few stumbling servants and guards along as well. The queen snatched a passing servant who nearly fell startled. "What's going on?"

"Th-they've f-f-fired on us, my queen! They can hit us through the shield! We're doomed!"

"No we're not, get ahold of yourself, woman!" the queen snapped as she looked at her guards. Her guards nodded and readied themselves for combat as the three of them inched forward. The queen snatched a spear from a stand on the wall as they quietly made their way towards the hall. Kgoral turned the corner to find a large object lodged firmly in the wall. A blond-furred humanoid lay sprawled across the floor in front of the object. As she cautiosly strode closer to the object, she felt her dress get grabbed and two spears were lodged firmly in the floor, keeping the creature's hand pinned down, his eyes were fogged over and his mouth was moving. Kgoral leaned over to hear what the creature was saying, "P-please... Save... The f-fleet admiral... He... He is the... Only one... Able to save you now..." the creature spurted out before collapsing. One of her guards bent over him and announced he was still alive.

Queen Kgoral started forward again and ducked into a hole in the object. Inside she found a dizzying array of buttons and levers and doorway leading further in. One of her guards preceeded her into the rest of the ship. Inside she found a strange array of creatures including one that tickled the back of her mind as though she knew what the creature was. This one could only be female, while the rest looked to be male. She saw one of the gizians strapped to a seat, this one could only be the gizian's infamous fleet admiral. He certainly didn't seem as impressive as his emmisaries made him out to be. She turned to her guards, "Fetch the medics, they need our help."

"But milady!" Ialown began but the queen cut her off.

"I dislike helping them as much as you do, but Xialys will surely frown upon us if we kill them when they are defenseless. It is the honor that Xialys bound us to that we must follow above all else," Kgoral said, sighing dejectedly. She knelt and ripped a piece of her dress off and began to tend to the fleet admiral's wounds.

Razgriz13 watched the video of the dropship's crash over and over in horror. Both from the inside and the outside. He plugged into the computer aboard the flagship and began to upload the footage of Admiral Waownat's treachery. The door opened behind him and he turned to see Admiral Waownat himself and four guards stride in.

"What are you doing Android13?" the admiral demanded.

"I am carrying out orders given to me." Androids were programmed to be unable to lie, but that doesn't mean they can not make others have false assumptions.

"All previous orders are now null. Fleet Admiral Zim is now dead and we must return to Gizkan to find a new fleet admiral. May Zim's soul find rest. Initiate the retreat."

"Yes sir," the android said curtly with a grudging salute. The android had failed in his duties to the fleet admiral, but he would make it up and dish out as much frustration and nightmare as possible upon the unsuspecting admiral.

"Oh, and Raz? Don't try to usurp me. That is a direct command." the android missed a step on his way to the bridge.
