#11 of Zonktober 2022

Void is tired of seeing his roommate walking around at night. Or is he?

"I saw you again tonight."

Void took a sip of coffee and looked at Drake, who held his gaze with a frown.

"Really?" he asked. "Again?"

"Mhm. I don't know why, but it seems like it's becoming a habit for you."

Drake grumbled and grabbed a bottle of soda from the fridge. After serving himself a glass and gulping it down, his eyes returned to Void, who had been observing him with a pinch of curiosity and expectation.

"So what did I do?" the bigger dragon asked after a while.

"Oh, the usual stuff. You walked around for some time and then returned to your bedroom. Nothing too weird."

"I mean, it was weird," Drake pointed out. "Sleepwalking is... well, weird."

Void chuckled.

"You're not telling me it scares you, right?"

"Yeah, it freaks me out!" Drake admitted, scratching the back of his head. "What if I wake up in the bathtub one morning? What if I wake up in another house?"

"You'd have a different roommate then," Void joked. "Oh, come on! You know that's not gonna happen."

"Well, I can't know, can I?"

Void tried not to chuckle again. He could tell that Drake was more embarrassed than he was scared, but that didn't make the situation any less funny. The sight of the big dragon walking around their flat, practically naked, was everything but menacing to him.

"Just make sure you send me to bed if you catch me sleepwalking again," the bigger dragon asked as he left the glass in the sink.

"Should I wake you up?"

"No!" Drake exclaimed, turning to him quickly. "Haven't you heard it's dangerous to wake someone who's sleepwalking?"

Void had, actually. Okay, I won't wake you up. Gotcha, he thought, suppressing a knowing grin.

Drake, on the other hand, kept thinking about it for the whole day.

The fact that it could happen again and he wouldn't even know kept him on edge, but at least Void had promised to take care of the situation if they got to that. That thought helped ease his nerves a little, but the dragon still felt a bit tense. He'd been embarrassed in front of his neighbors a few times by now - he didn't want to add sleepwalking and knocking at their doors to the list.

Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that. The dragon removed his clothes, leaving only his boxers, and lay on his bed. Gazing at the ceiling, he tried not to worry too much about the sleepwalking thing and catch some sleep, but the idea kept popping in his head whenever he closed his eyes. He turned and squirmed under the blankets, trying to find the most comfortable position to fall asleep, until his impatience got the best of him.

Then, he sat up and picked up his phone. Void had recently recommended a white noise app that usually helped him fall asleep easier. With a bit of luck, that'd also be useful this time. He put on his headphones, tapped the play button and listened to the subtle and constant sounds, suddenly finding it much easier to relax. The blankets felt softer and warmer, the horizontal position he found himself in much more comfortable.

As sleep began to kick in and his mind sank in a pleasant mist, Drake had an intrusive thought that worrying about sleepwalking had been stupid. The thought came more or less at the same time he realized one of his legs was slowly crawling out of the bed, going off the edge and moving on its own. Whaaat... was the last thing the dragon thought before his mind went completely blank and he dropped into a deep sleep.

His limbs kept moving slowly and easily. As his feet rested on the floor, the rest of his body tensed to help him sit up again, then stand up. His vacant brain caught a glimpse of himself as his reflection appeared in the mirror on the other side of the room - eyes open, staring ahead without really seeing, legs and arms moving limply as his body slouched forward a bit. The white noise kept buzzing in his ears, but at that point the dragon couldn't hear it. It had faded to the background, just like the reality around him.

He was asleep, after all.

He bent over clumsily to remove his boxers and then looked into the cupboard to find a jockstrap. As soon as he put that on, his body turned automatically towards the door. Drake's body began walking without a brain to pull the strings, dragging his feet with each step. Every single muscle felt so heavy and so loose and so relaxed that it almost seemed impossible they were moving - but they were, compelled by an invisible force that pulled him as if an imaginary leash was attached to a non-existent collar around his neck.

The dragon kept walking through the corridor, jaw slack and arms dangling limply at his sides, until he reached Void's door. It seemed to open on its own, too - but just for a second, until it was revealed that the smaller dragon had been expecting his visit on the other side.

One of Void's hands moved to Drake's bulge, which had begun throbbing by then. It was the only reaction on the bigger dragon's body.

"So you don't want me to wake you up. Is that right?"

Drake nodded slowly. His whole body felt like a tower about to fall down.

"Why is that?" Void asked, grinning.

"I am gym meat. Gym meat obeys..."

"No. Not that one. The other one," the small dragon reminded him patiently.

Drake hesitated as his sleeping brain adjusted to the barely-received information.

"Gym meat sleeps."

"Good." Void gently squeezed that bulge, his grin widening. Sometimes being patient really paid off. He pointed to the bed behind him. "You asked me to send you to bed if I caught you. You're okay with being sent to my bed though, isn't that right?"

Drake tried to nod, but his head fell on his chest and never lifted from there. Void chuckled, slipping a finger into the jockstrap's elastic band and pulling the sleeping beast into his room. Then, the dragon closed the door at his back.

Not like Drake would be needing to go anywhere, he thought. In his opinion, the strong dragon was in need of a long, pleasant night of deep sleep.

And Void was happy to provide him with one.
