Ven meets Zolya

Ven was frustrated with his strict training schedule. Every day was started with training with weapons, or controlling storm magic, or controlling his transformation into his dragon form. He never could leave the village, never play with the other children of the tribe, and rarely could even rest.

The boy grew irritated at Elders constantly interupting his sleep and reprimanding him for doing anything other than what they scheduled for him to do. He woke up early one morning before the sun had risen, and the stress of the constant training prevented him from falling back asleep. He knew that he could only sleep probably an hour more before one of the elders training him would come wake him. He got up from his bed,o and snuck out of his hut.

He headed straight for the edge of the village and up toward the mountains. The hunters and gatherers would be up soon and also heading into the mountains, so he knew he'd have to gain some distance to avoid being found and forced back into his training. His body glowed briefly while he transformed into a blue dragon. Being as young as he is, he could only transform into a wyrmling. Barely able to fly in this form, he wasted no time in using the strength of his young wings to carry him high into the mountains.

Flying as high as his young wings could take him, he was aware of how tall the mountains were as they loomed over him. He wondered if a full grown dragon could fly over such tall peaks. Not that passing over the mountains was his goal, he simply wanted to get far enough away that the hunters of his village wouldn't be able to find him.

Soaring paralell to the mountains, the dark sky had started to lighten just as his wings started to ache. He had not been flying for long, but it was an exhuasting activity. He glided back down, drawing closer to the tree line. Fortunately his eyes could see well in the dark, very well in his dragon form.

Gliding over the tree line, he caught the glimmer of a reflection off a lake nestled among the evergreens. He decided to land there, on the shore as it made for a safer landing than among any trees.
