Chapter One

+Pep Talk+

"Do you think your good enough? You will never be good enough! But God damnit if you haven't come a long way from the worthless piles of shit you came here as." The drill sargent was giving us one of his ever so inspiring pep talks. "Look off into the horizon boys, do you know what I see? Water. Lots and lots of water. Do you know what's on the other side of that water? HELL! Do you want to know what hell is like? Well I'll tell ya. IT'S LIKE HELL! And guess what, all of you 'fine' young souls are being thrown head long into it."

We had all heard this speach, or something similar to it everyday for the past 3 years. Hell most of us could quote every line he says, word for word. Most of us think the only reason he's a Drill Sargent now is because he was one back before 'The Clouds'. Despite what we thought however, we all learned, most of us the hard way, not to fuck with him. Especially seeing as how he was one big, pissed off Grizzly.

"Hey... do you think he's gonna take as long as he did last time to make himself light headed and fall down?" My bestfried whispered to me, trying not to get caught. A 23 year old black Wolf named Luke. I've known him since I had been dropped off here. His mother was even kind enough to take me in. We were inseperable, some folks even began called us 'The Twins'. Sadly enough, he had to watch his own father be burned alive, his dads name... was Bradley.

Whispering back to Luke, "I don't know, but doesn't it seem like he's a little more eager to yell at us than normal?"

"Yeah, bro yesterday he found out his wife was cheating on him with a Horse named Desmond. Looks like Sargent Pholler couldn't quite make the cut if you catch my drift."

I tried to muffle my laugh, but unfortunately, a little had escaped my lips, just enough to catch the attention of Sargent Pholler. "PERKETT!" he yelled as he began walking towards me. I stood up as straight as I could, chest puffed out, trying to some how avoid his wrath. No such luck.

"Is something funny over here?" he said in a deep, rumbling voice directly into my ear.

"Sir, No Sir!"

"Well that's odd, I could've sworn I just heard you laugh. Now either I'm mistaken, or your trying to pull a fast one on me. Tell me what you think soldier." Just knowing that he was very angry and that he was standing next to me was enough to make me doubt my chances of continuing existance.

"Sir, I think you are mistaken Sir!"

"Oh really now, well I think you are wrong." He brought his arm back, and with a straight, clean jab, brought his fist directly into my side. A yelp escaped my lips, the hit was so hard it made my knees buckle and I fell to the ground. Gripping my side as he lowered himself to my level, grabbing my combat vest and bringing my nose to his. "Next time you try to paint me a fool, I suggest you use primer first." Letting go, I layed on the ground, still gripping my side.

"Now, I look out among you and I see power. I see strength. I see pride. We are all here for a reason, and that reason is to fight back. They attacked us, and they cut us deep. Now's the time where we attack them, and knowing that you boys are going to be on the front lines, I can honestly say we are going to cut them a helluva alot deeper." Sargent Pholler spoke with such resolve, such power, that for the first time, I completely understood why he was such an asshole.

"You soldiers, will be boarding the carriers soon, and within no time at all, every single one of us, will experience hell first hand. I can't be there all the time to hold your paws, so you are all going to need everything I taught you. Every last little thing if you even want a chance to come home." He paused for a moment to look about the mass of Furs. "I am proud to call each and every one of you a soldier, and when we get there, I want you all to make me proud. More importantly, make your nation proud. Give the folks here something to believe in, and let's not come home empty handed." Luke helped me back up to my feet.

"NOW WHO'S READY TO RIP OUR ENEMIES A NEW FUCK HOLE!?!"

At that moment, the fealing of what came next was indescribable. Almost like an explosion of noise, every single Fur, began screaming and chearing. The sound was deafening, but at the same time, it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard.

Sargent Pholler turned around, he raised his paw and pointed towards the shore, where the carriers lay in wait, already loaded with all of our gear. A smile stretched across his face, a smile wicked enough to make a satanist pray to God for repentance. In a low, devilish tone, the words dripped off his tongue.

"So what's stopping us?"
