Well, this is where chapter 10 begins. In this chapter, two characters that have not appeared since chapter 7 will reappear.

The small spaceship was zooming through the stars, making its way past the asteroid belt, heading in the direction where planet Corneria was located. He made a few twists and turns around every asteroid, boulder, even small space rocks so that he could make it through without leaving a scratch on the surface of the ship(he was SO not gonna make a screwup before his first day of the new job!).

While he was focused on the controls, dodging the rocks at every turn, his suitcase bounced up and down, continuously, flipping over one side to another. The wolf made it past the last of the asteroids, so he was flying smoothly through space again and the case stopped bouncing.

The wolf sighed for a few seconds, thinking about what he'd heard from Bill Grey from Corneria. About a blue vixen. About...

Krystal

He was feeling thrilled. He had long waited to see his sister again after so long! When he was captured by Andross' forces when his home was destroyed, he thought that he would be alone for the rest of his life. He never once hoped that his sister survived the invasion, believing that it was too late for her. But, hearing about the Star Fox team, and learning that his assumed dead sister was a part of the team, he had felt a happiness that felt familiar to him when he was a young child. It felt good to feel that warm feeling again...

His eyes caught sight of the big, blue planet of Corneria, as well as a large ship floating above it. He picked up the bold text that was imprinted on the large mothership, 'Star Fox', and his eyes perked up.

'That must be the ship that Krystal's staying on! I sure hope that they're treating her ok...' he thought for a second. He then had a new thought at the moment. 'They better not have been playing hooky with her while she was on that ship!'

He would want a lot of answers from his sister. Last thing he would want to hear was that she became a sex toy for a mercinary team full of guys.

...

Meanwhile, in the city, Wolf, Panther, and Leon were sitting on the couch of a cramped up apartment room. The three males were able to have enough savings from their pirate days to rent an apartment loft in a nearby complex for a while until they could get themselves some honest jobs. In the case of the former Star Wolf team, the room was dreadful!

The walls have filthy spots that look like drink bottles were thrown onto, the kitchen tiles were a little muddy, there was grime in the sink drain, the couch was torn apart, the beds' mattresses were missing some springs, there was a mysterious stain on a small carpet by the coffee table, there was a crack on the window, the bathroom had a hole in the floor, and the shower drain was clogged with fur and hair.

It was a completely, annoyingly, and disgusting piece of shit of a place to live in!

"This. Sucks" Leon said, laying on the bedroom floor.

"At least Fox is lucky that he doesn't have to stay at this dump" Wolf growled.

Panther was in the kitchen with a bucket of soapy water and a washcloth. He wore lots of protective gear while washing the muddy tiles that were making him feel an ulcer in his stomach.

"Filthy, filthy, filthy, filthy..." the feline kept on saying while cleaning.

Leon looked over at Wolf, who was sitting on a small chair in the hallway.

"You seem to be thinking about Fox a lot," he said.

"I always think about that pup," Wolf replied.

"Well, yeah," Leon said. "but you seem to act like you care for him now. That's not like you to like your own arch nemesis like that."

Panther looked over at Wolf from the kitchen corner. "Leon's got a point there," he said. "After every fight that you and Fox have gotten into, why choose to suddenly care about him at a time like this?"

Wolf sat there in silence. Eyes closed. Thinking. He had some other thing that he was hiding from everyone. He had a feeling that he was going to tell someone eventually, but he couldn't predict that the time to tell would arrive so soon. He was starting to grow nervous now.

"Well," the lupine started. "The truth is...I've kinda...sorta...always cared about Fox while we were fighting."

Panther and Leon then were looking at Wolf with dumbfounded looks on their faces. Wolf was starting to feel embarrassed for telling them now as they were beginning to snicker a little.

"My, my, my! What a nice surprise!" Panther teased. "Secretly having a crush on Fox McCloud would make such a nice romance novel to read."

"Yeah!" said Leon with a laugh. "Bet you $400 that people would make it into a movie as well!"

Wolf wasn't just feeling embarrassed anymore, he was now feeling annoyed by this behavior as well. He almost feels like screaming at them right now.

"How mature of you to say~." said Wolf with sarchasm.

"Ya know, Wolf," said Panther. "There is nothing wrong with liking guys sexually. In case you've forgotten, I'm bisexual to the dick."

"And don't forget that I'm gay myself, man" said Leon. "Aside from that, would it even be safe to go out with...HIM?"

"I don't need your pity, lizard puss!"

"What did you call me?!"

"Shhh!"

The lupine and the chameleon turn their attention to Panther, who was still cleaning the kitchen floor with the wash rag.

"The neighbors might be asleep by now!" he said in a whisper.

Wolf and Leon just sat where they were in silence now. Wolf thought for a moment that Leon could have a point. He may have a thing going on for Fox, but there could be a huge cost. People being homophobic or in distrust of him dating Fox, past mistakes coming back to haunt them, it would be a huge mess. Even then, he still loves Fox and he wants to know how he feels about him, even after everything that they've been through. He feels a little sad rushing this sort of thing, but it's what he wants...

...and he wants to make the best of it. No matter what happens to them. He'll get the courage of telling his feelings someday, but for now, their new friendship will be his primary mission.

...

Meanwhile, it was already 10:24 PM on the Great Fox, and the team leader was alone in his room.

He noticed that the place must've gotten clean during his absence. Peppy mentioned that he and Slippy cleaned the ship while he was in the city, so he assumed they cleared this all up. He saw how everything was in place, so much in place it's like his outburst of rage had never happened. But there was only one thing that caught his attention; next to the photo of him and his Dad was a picture that he hadn't seen in many years.

In the new photo, there was him with Bill and Lucy on the day they first met each other on the beach when they were still children. He could see his younger self with his late parents, James and Vixy, Lucy with Peppy and her late mother, Vivian, and Bill with General Pepper.

He remembered that day he heard that Bill's parents couldn't attend the trip, and for that reason he'd given him permission to go with the general instead.

At that point, Fox remembered that he hadn't seen or talked to Bill in years after he joined Star Fox. He recalled seeing him at the press conference on TV that afternoon, and he'd seen that he had never changed at all since the Lylat wars. He took out his comm device and give him a call to find out what has happened to him during the last time they saw each other.

He opened the phone feature, dialed Bill's phone number, and waited for him to answer.

"Hi, this is Bill."

"Hi Bill," Fox replied. "It's me, Fox."

"Fox?!" The canine asked excitedly. "Old friend? Buddy? Ol' pal? How's it going bro?"

"Well, to be honest. I feel better than ever."

"Really?" Fox's response took the dog by surprise, as his adopted father informed him of how Fox reacted on hearing the news of Star Wolf, and how he was in denial. "That's good."

Bill began to wonder if Fox was saying that just so he wouldn't worry or if something happened earlier. But he decided not to delve into that topic so he doesn't make his old friend feel uncomfortable.

"So tell me, Bill," said Fox. "How's it been with you lately? You must've had a lot of work as the new commander."

"Yes, I have," said Bill. "Although, I've been busy watching and training a new recruit."

"New recruit?"

"Yes. Didn't your team inform you?"

"No," he confessed. "To tell you the truth, I was out of the Great Fox for most of the day, and they must've forgotten to tell me when I came back."

At that moment, Fox remembered that when he encountered Falco, Slippy, and Peppy, they were in their underwear, causing him to blush again. Luckly, Bill was not there to see him. Although, he did plan to tell him that he's gay the next time he came face to face with him.

"Well, can you tell me about him?" he asked, coming back to his senses. "I suppose you already know him personally?"

"Yes. He's one of the best I have ever seen. I even think that he will be able to go very far as part of the army!"

"Wow!" Fox was feeling impressed.

"And today, I found out something interesting about him."

"Really? What?"

"Well," Bill started to feel excited to tell Fox this good news. "I found out today from General Pepper that the new recruit is Miss Krystal's older brother!"

"WHAT?!" shouted the vulpin over the phone. "She never told us she had a brother! Does Krystal know about this?"

"Y-yes," shuttering the canine over the phone, recovering his ears from the small shout his friend gave him. "The general informed her about him. His name is Sabre, and he'll be here in a few hours before he begins work. Krystal's going to give him a surprise visit on the day he starts work."

"Great. Happy to hear that."

"Maybe you would like to come and meet your future brother-in-law as well," said Bill, letting out a small smile.

Fox got a little angry at that comment, but he didn't show it. He simply replied with a neutral tone.

"Bill, just let me make this clear: Krystal is not my girlfriend. She's just a friend and nothing more. Ever since my breakup with Fara, I've never been romantically interested in anyone else and I plan to keep it that way."

Part of what Fox said was true, but he didn't want Bill to find out over the phone about his true sexuality.

"I'm sorry, Fox," Bill said apathetically. "I didn't know."

"That's OK," Fox said politely. "So, tell me a little more about Sabre. He's gotta have some skills that stand out."

"Well, he's good at hand-to-hand combat. I even went so far as to see that he's good at swordsmanship too. He also seems to realize what people are thinking at the moment."

'So, he's a telepath like Krystal?' Fox thought for a second. "If that's true, then he could be helpful with fighting enemies."

"Yeah," Bill replied. "Ya know, when I first saw Sabre he didn't seem to look like a sibling of Krystal's."

"Why's that?"

"Well, unlike Krystal, Sabre is not a fox," he explained. "But a wolf instead. He's not even blue and white, he's brown and cream instead."

"Sabre and Krystal are some sort of hybrids from an interspecies relationship?" asked Fox. "Woah. You never see that in any of the planets around here."

"No, I most certainly do not," replied Bill. Apparently, Cerinia could've had those kinds of customs."

Fox was thinking for a second. He never knew that Krystal would be a hybrid between a vixen and a lupine. Is there anyone else that he knows that could be a hybrid?

"Hybrids would have the physical features of both the animals that gave birth to them," the vulpin pointed out. "But I don't see any wolf features on Krystal at all."

"Same thing for Sabre," Bill pointed back. "No fox features on him either. If it wasn't for some hard investigating, the general wouldn't have known that they were related and he wouldn't have informed anyone."

"Oh well. Maybe me and the team would go with Krystal to meet her brother. I want to see his skills in combat and his piloting," he said. "I'm hoping that he could be just as good as Krystal."

"He starts work on Thursday, but you'll have to ask Krystal if you guys could come. Since she's never seen him in forever it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to give them some private time to reconnect their sibling bond for a bit."

Bill had a point there... Krystal would probably want to go first to see him before introducing her team. Probably not the best idea to pay a visit while interrupting a precious family reunion.

"I guess I could ask her if we could go. If she says yes, then I can't wait!" he said.

Fox suddenly yawned. It was late, and he needed to go to bed.

"Well," he said with another yawn. "I think that's it for now. We'll keep in touch tomorrow."

"It's okay," said Bill. "If we could, we would have an awesome party tomorrow instead."

"A party? On a Tuesday?" Fox asked. "Nobody does that, do they?"

"Someone might," he said. "Anyway, goodnight Fox."

"Goodnight, Bill."

They both cut off communication and Fox placed his phone on the table. Then, he turned off the lights, walked over to his bed, and wrapped himself in the covers, laying down. And in a few seconds, he fell asleep.

...

At Corneria...

Bill approached his foster father and told him about his call with Fox.

"Well, I'm glad Fox is feeling better now," said Pepper. "Although, I think he was too fast for normal standards after receiving earlier's news."

"My thoughts exactly," Bill replied. "I think he just said it so we don't worry about him. But outside of that, I didn't notice anything strange."

"Well, I just hope everything is fine with the team now" trying to think positive.

"Same here, Dad."
