#10 of Next Generation- The Digivolution Saga

So the Garumon from the last chapter turned out to be useful after all, and Craig gets to field test his new upgrade on another Citadel agent.

Craig's ears twitched as he heard the shout. The small feline girl, who they had been unable to get a word from, also looked up. Jumping to his feet, Craig pulled the now no longer crying girl from his neck carefully, patting her head gently as he looked worryingly in the direction of the shout. Looking back at the girl, he pointing to the ground, before pushing her gently into Annalla's arms, taking both girls by surprise.

"Please watch her, and make sure she doesn't follow!" Craig called as he ran off, quickly turning, before disappearing in a cloud of dust as he shouted out, "Wind Speed."

Mary and Annalla stared at each other, then at the girl, who stared straight back at them, before pulling herself out of Annalla's arms and sitting down where Craig had pointed, staring in the direction he had gone. After a while, she pulled her legs up and hugged them to her chest, still staring intently in the direction Craig had run.

Namico crouched behind the strange armoured digimon, who had spun around to stare at her when she had screamed. Obviously surprised by her sudden shout, he didn't have time to notice the sudden dust cloud erupting from behind the near invisible Craig until the feline slammed into him, sending the knight staggering as Craig flipped through the air, landing heavily on the ground.

"Fuck! My feet!" Craig cringed as he landed, falling back as he grabbed his bare feet.

"What in the...?" The armoured digimon stared at Craig before laughing, "Well that's what you get for striking the armour of one of the Citadel's Holy Knights!"

"The Citadel?" Craig repeated, staring at the Knight, jumping as the digivice on his wrist squawked suddenly, a holo-screen appearing above the watch's face. "Recommending combat form advancement: 'Shadow Strike Armour'. Shadow Strike Armour? Where the hell did I get that?"

The Knight stared at Craig in surprise, obviously not used to the nonchalant way he was being treated. Growling slightly, he raised his sword above his head and declared his attack, swinging his blade down as he shouted, "Righteous Slash!"

Craig glanced up as the attack raced towards him, with no time to dodge. Namico and the knight watched as the glowing slash slammed into the grey feline, a huge cloud of dust blasting up around him. Giving a short laugh, which echoed slightly from behind the helmet, the knight turned to Namico triumphantly, holding out his white clad hand.

"Come, now, fair maiden, I shall bring you to where you shall be safe, away from these Impure beings!"

"You killed him," Namico stammered, staring at the slowly settling cloud of dust.

"Of course, it is the only way to cleanse this land of..." the knight began, stepping back when Namico screamed at him.

"You killed my Mate! You bastard! And you hurt my friend! Die, you fucking bastard! Die and go to hell!" Namico sobbed, as she wrapped her arms around her shoulders and fell to her knees, her voice dropping to a whisper as she cried, "Die and go to hell."

"Mate?" the knight stared at her in shock, "That thing was your mate? But he was an Impure! How could you call an Impure your mat..."

"Who the fuck's an 'Impure'?" Craig's voice asked, "And who the fuck got killed?"

Spinning around, the knight stared in amazement as Craig walked out of the now settling dust cloud wholly unharmed, a small, slightly smoking scratch on one of his bracers. Smiling, the grey feline inspected the armour piece, which covered his whole forearm, a part extending slightly past his elbow. The rest of his body was hidden behind a large flowing cloak, a simple circular silver broach attached over his left collar bone holding it in place. With a flourish, Craig threw the cloak back, revealing his new black coloured armour as the material suddenly dissolved into the air. Both his forearms had the simple, unadorned bracers, his fur markings stretching up to his shoulders from behind them. A simple half-plate chest piece covered his left shoulder and chest, protecting his heart and a pair of equally simple shin guards protected his legs, with thick leather boots now covering his feet. Lastly, a simple band of black metal was wrapped around his head; which stopped at his temples in larger disc shapes acted as his helmet. Craig grinned slightly as he stared at the knight, calling out the staff.

"You know, I'm really starting to get tired of you Citadel people and your "Holier than thou" attitude." Craig said menacingly, "That's why I'm going to strip every last piece of armour off of you, then make you eat it."

"Hah! As if such an Impure being could touch a Holy Knight of the Citadel!" the knight roared, apparently laughing at Craig's threat.

"Weapon Form: Electric Shadow Wind Scythe," Craig spoke the attack, watching the knight as the now darkened scythe blade formed at the end of the staff, black lightning sparking across it, "The Reaper of Winds does not appreciate some low-life righteous ass-clown harassing his mates, I suggest apologising."

"Apologising? To the likes of you?" the knight yelled frantically, pointing his sword at Craig, "I would sooner bed that vile Impure succubus who was raping this innocent!"

"You kicked Karen off of me before we could say a word, you bastard!" Namico shouted from behind the knight, "And now she's lying there unconscious!"

The three stood silently for a few seconds, all looking at the place where Karen had fallen. Craig gripped his scythe tightly, feeling his anger building up inside him, barely able to control himself, he managed to utter out his attack, swinging the scythe out at the knight.

"Black Thunder Slash, Shatter."

The Knight jumped as he heard the attack, swinging his sword around to block the black shockwave as it hit him, suddenly dispersing. Surprised the knight laughed, calling out to Craig.

"Is that the extent of your power? Show me something worthwhile!" he shouted as he pointed the empty hilt of his sword at Craig, before staring at it in shock.

"This attack is unlike any normal attack, and with it I destroy every piece of armour on you. Unfortunately, the attack only works on one object at a time." Craig said quietly, a twisted smile stretching across his face, "Now, what was this I heard about you kicking Karen unconscious?"

Annalla and Mary stared at the plume of dust as it erupted from behind the tree line, glancing nervously at the now fidgeting girl they had been ordered to look after. A series of indistinct shouts came from the direction of the dust cloud, before what looked like a knight in white armour was flung through the air, his breast plate disintegrating as he flew. The angel digimon and her tamer watched in morbid fascination as he landed in the forest a short distance away. Looking at each other, they shrieked as he came barrelling through the undergrowth, his helmet swinging wildly as he looked around, halting suddenly as he spotted Annalla.

"I am saved!" the knight cried, "An agent of the Citadel that shall rescue me!"

Annalla squealed as the knight collapsed at her feet, clinging to one of her ankles. Terrified, she instinctively began stomping on his helmet, eliciting several cries of pain from the armoured digimon. Unable to take the beating any longer, the knight threw himself off of Annalla's leg as the now distraught angel collapsed into her Tamer's arms, shock causing her to pass out. Mary caught the falling digimon easily, holding her close to her chest as she knelt on the ground, before staring angrily at the knight.

"What the fuck's your problem?!" she shouted, "How can you hurt my Anna like that! Perverted bastard!"

"Perv... perverted..bastard?" the knight stuttered, staring at Mary in shock, "What is wrong with you people?! I am a member of the Citadel! A respected and revered organisation which strives to better this and all layers by bringing peace and serenity to all..."

The knight was cut off as another black shockwave slammed into the back of his helmet, making it disintegrate with an odd splintering sound as Craig skidded to a halt behind him, "How do you like that you basta... Why is Annalla unconscious? Did he do something?!"

Mary suddenly sobbed, launching herself, Annalla still in her arms at Craig, who was forced to catch the pair awkwardly. "It was horrible, he came charging out of the woods and grabbed Annalla and said he was going to hurt people and...and..."

Craig bopped the crying plant girl on the head gently, scowling at her slightly as she blushed, a slight smile spreading across her face, "Well, it went mostly like that..."

"Whatever, I'm still beating eighteen and a half kinds of shit out of you for hurting Karen." Craig replied, staring at the knight angrily as he lay stunned on the floor, "Or maybe I'll just figure out a better way to get info out of you."

Craig slammed his foot down onto the knight's head, eliciting a cry of pain before rolling the moaning digimon onto his back, looking down at the white canine face. Sighing, he kicked the knight back over onto his stomach, tapping the back of his armour with the still activated scythe.

"Charge," he said, watching as the armour suddenly went stiff, the joints straightening as the metal suddenly stuck together, making it look like the unknown canine was standing to attention, before turning to the two still conscious girls, he smiled almost apologetically, "I'm just going to fetch Karen and Nami, okay? I'll be back soon. You can hit him with a rock if he wakes up."

The two girls blinked as his after image flickered in the air momentarily, before dissolving into nothing.

"I say we cook him until he talks, he's already got his own pot and everything!" Karen growled at the terrified digimon, who shook his head vigorously, unable to talk due to the gag tied tightly around his muzzle.

"He's a great big lightning conductor, too," Namico added, grumbling slightly, "I should have shocked him to hell when I had the chance..."

"His chest is bare." Mary giggled, waving her long purple nails, "I could use him for target practice."

"Or we could find some none violent way to get him to tell us what we want to know," Craig sighed, picking up a small stone and flicking it at the knight, who cringed when it hit his nose.

"But we like our ideas better!" the three girls whined, all staring at Craig pleadingly.

"No," He growled, getting up and pulling the gag from the knight's face, "...Only if he doesn't talk."

"I'll talk!" the Holy Armoured Canimon screeched, staring at the three girls in fear, "Just don't delete me!"

The three sulked as Craig waved them away, sitting in front of the trapped digimon, who was currently propped against a tree. He pulled his switch blade from his pocket, using the tip to clean under his claws as he sat in silence, making the other man fidget nervously. Glancing up at the dog, he raised an eyebrow, as if asking him "And?"

"I am of the Citadel's Holy Knights, Third Battalion, Retribution Faction!" The digimon barked, staring down at Craig as he continued to clean his claws, "I was sent here on reports of Dark Digimon and transforming digimon appearing. I was also told to discover the fate of one Annalla Wingblade, a field agent sent to dispatch a Dark Digimon in the region. I stumbled across what I thought was an Impure attacking a Pure digimon! I had no way of knowing the Pure had...had... consented."

Craig looked up as he spat out the word, as if it seemed so wrong it tasted vile to even say in context. Getting up slowly, Craig, suddenly slammed his fist into the digimon's stomach, making the canine cough and choke as he struggled around in his form fitting prison.

"Never use such elitist terms around me again," Craig growled, "Or I may just decide to test the full extent of my new abilities."

Turning away, he joined the other digimon at their fire several metres away. The Canimon looked after them, the smell of food wafting over making his aching stomach growl. He gave a quiet whimper as he settled uncomfortably into the armour for the night.

"Pitiful," Argon blinked his eyes open, staring in disbelief at the Station Commander, standing seven feet tall, his majestic white wings fluttering slightly behind his muscular frame, who repeated himself as he poked the trapped digimon in the chest, "Pitiful. And rash, far too rash."

"S-Sir! I..." Argon trailed off as Craig appeared from behind the commander, the armour gone and his fur now somehow white in colour, his markings a light grey.

"This young man has explained all that happened yesterday to me." The Archengelmon stated, "I find myself ashamed to have one in my ranks who cannot even distinguish between a Digi-Destined and a normal digimon!"

"But sir! He attacked me-" Argon began, cut off by the Commander waving a hand in front of him.

"He was protecting his partners, and so had every right to attack you," The tall angelic digimon growled, "Not to mention you even failed to recognise my niece! Of whom I made sure each and every one of you knew by sight!"

"Your...your niece?" Argon whispered, lowering his head into the collar of the armour as the angel raged, praying he wouldn't be attacked.

Craig suddenly tapped the side of his arm with his staff, muttering something. Suddenly, Argon fell to his knees as his armour unfroze, freeing him. Groaning in relief, he managed to stagger to his feet, trying to shake some feeling back into his aching limbs as the Faction commander suddenly grabbed him.

"I am stripping you of your position, and so, what is left of your armour," he hissed out the word, emphasising Argon's failure, "And am giving you a new mission, which you must complete should you ever wish to have a chance of becoming more than a foot soldier ever again!"

Argon stood bolt upright as the commander shouted, nodding nervously as the angel stripped his armour from him piece by piece, explaining his mission as he did so.

"I want you to accompany this boy," an arm was wrenched off painfully, "And his companions, to the Citadel station." the other arm bounced as it hit the floor, "Once there, they are to be treated as guests of mine, regardless of whether they are Pure, or not!" one leg, and then the other, was lifted as the commander yanked the armour off, before finally removing the back guard and crotch piece, which made both Argon's and Craig's eyes water, "While you are escorting them, I have placed your life in the hands of the Reaper. If he sees fit, he may slay you without provocation, or even apparent reason!"

The now bare Argon nodded vigorously as his Commander picked up the pieces of armour and flung them into a sack, before launching into the air and soaring off.

"Don't worry," Craig's voice made Argon jump as it spoke right behind him, "I won't kill you out right, just don't attack my mates again."

Argon, who found he felt oddly comforted by this, only nodded.

=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=

"I apologise profusely for my earlier actions, I was acting on presumptions that were wrong, and I have done you wrong. I hope you can forgive me." Argon bowed to Namico and Karen as he said this, before standing straight up and looking at them nervously.

"Fine, but the next time you try to kick someone in the middle of sex, make sure you know the situation first," Namico sighed, leaning against Craig, who was seated calmly on his Rider.

"I'm still sore, so I don't forgive you yet." Karen grumbled, rubbing her ribs, "You'll have to make it up to me."

Argon sighed in relief, nodding curtly before speaking again, "The Citadel station is about four days march from here, but if your...machines can travel as fast as you claim, we should be able to reach the station by midday tomorrow."

"Then what are we waiting for?" Craig asked, pulling Karen up onto his Rider as Namco settled into one of the extra seats he had attached, "Get on Mary's Rider and let's go!"

"My Rider?!" Mary suddenly shouted, "Why my Rider?!"

"Because," Namico stated, throwing another small rock at the plant girl, "We already have three passengers, while you only have one. So you get baby-sitting duty."

Mary scowled at the canine digimon, eventually sighing and waving him on. He looked at the bike in confusion, the only extra seat occupied by Annalla. Mary spotted this too, grabbing the angel's wrist and pulling her forwards to sit just behind her on the main seat. Revving the Rider, Mary called out to the male over the low rumbling noise, "Better get on quick, or I'll leave you behind!"
