Mythos of Tribes (Simplified as I write sagas when I want to write poetry)

The World

The world, according to legend was created by the Primordial Gods, as were all things not living, these all mighty beings then went to sleep, one dreamt the gods, and once gods were formed in the dream the were formed in the realm of the gods, once called the realm of dreams in the earliest hours of their pantheon.

The second was the space between dreams, forming the heavens, the barrier thinner than lace yet impossible to cross in life. This barrier is cosmos, and to those living it is infinite.

Third was the earth itself, and as their endless sleep deepened the primordial gods created life, something the pantheon gods shaped and molded into all life on earth.

Important Gods

-Sight/Pride, later Sipt-Ide meaning seer of souls in old elven- God of sight, foresight, and beauty, he is a proud and vengeful god. He once ruled over the other gods by being able to see all the could do before they could do it, however, none of it compared to the ferocity of the first threatened godly mother, who in their desperate clash, blinded him. He rules over the elves, the reason they cannot truly see is the blindness of their god. After his blinding, he became the god of blind pride, and was dethroned. After the threefold wars, he has gone into exile into the realm of the dead, not speaking to the priests that call to him. His holy sigil is the all knowing eye.

-Shaper- The Shaper was a god of modification, he could take what was and make as many things with it as was imaginable, timid by nature, he was friends with the huntress who was always eager to help him create new animals and join him in the hunt. Was stripped of his godhood by Sight and in his mortality shaped two hundred sculptures that once he died became mankind. His greatest achievement was the shaping of all animals.

-Huntress- The Huntress was the goddess of the hunt, she helped create the first mind with the shaper, but it was the hunt that created non-divine love, so among the scorned, the huntress is the goddess of pursuit. She was close friends, and later wife of the shaper. Once the great favor was done by Birth, she too created two hundred sculptures, but upon her death they were imperfect, and the first animals that touched them melded with them to become the Rohina. Her greatest achievement was the invention of marriage

-Vulfan- once known only as fight, the wolves he sought the favor of named him Vulfan which has no real english translation but means something equivalent to father of warriors. God of war among the "Old Pantheon", honorable, proud, and protective of the wolves. He was the god that would lead the divine armies once divine court was finished, and spent nearly all his time in the mortal realm. He would the the first god to truly die divine. His holy sigil was a wolf fang. Was the patron god of the Vulfan and all warriors

-Birth/Queen-Mother- Friend of the Huntress and Shaper before their fall, did the great favor that caused the first schism, and the first god to be shaped in full by those she was patron to and patron of. During her battle with Sight, the souls of her dead came to her as they were and she became the Queen-Mother, the Queen of the Shelled Ones, Mother of the Innaset, and Queen of the First Schism, the Pantheon of the Paradise Islands and their insectoid denizens. Her holy sigil is an egg adorned with a crown. She, aside the patron queen of the Innaset, is the goddess of birth and her friendship with the huntress and forester allows so that all thinking races of man may conceive with all races of women,

-The Forester- Following the death of the Huntress it awoke in the realm of gods, upon learning the fate of the huntress it melded himself to the forest, becoming the first walking tree, and made the magic forest to hide the grave of its forebearer, as well as driving all sentients in the region to the primordial way, rendering them to live as the first minds, unable to progress beyond herding and hunting.

-The Ranger- The twin of the forester, it too chose to renounce godhood, and gave the animals of the world a spirit, surrendering his form and consciousness to become the great spirit of all animals.

-

-The Faceless God- The God of Man, created by the death of Vulfan upon the tomb of the shaper. His creation in the realm of gods was made of man, and in his first and last moment in the mortal realm seized the magic of mankind to create a cosmos of the gods, dividing the mortal and divine realms. He, has no defined form other than that of a vaguely human one, but no facial features, rather he is a form of metal when he speaks to the priests of man. His holy sigil is a strange toothed circle, with each tooth being something different. He is the patron god of change

-The Formless Mother- Goddess of the Rohina, created by the end of the Forester and Ranger, she appeared at the same time as the Faceless God, and while he robbed his own of magic, she imbued the rohina with powerful magic creating small holes through the barrier to allow the gods to talk to those who who were truly devoted to them. Where the Faceless God directly challenges what remains of the old pantheon, the Formless Mother is the honey-ladend whispers that peak the ears of the scorned gods. Her holy sigil is that of a great tipped arch, some say its a both, other's a mother's teat. She is the patron goddess of family and marriage.

Creation of the sentient races.

It was said that during a great hunt, in the time with the gods could cross the cosmos as effortlessly as one may take a step, the goddess of the hunt and the shaper god, shot an animal with an arrow wounding it, in its eyes the shaper god saw a question, and so he shaped it a mouth to talk, legs to walk, and a way to stand so it may be humbled. The shaper god made this first mind a mate, the legends of each people claim it was different. Soon, the shaper and huntress came to live among their creation, teaching, guiding, and aiding these first mind. Once discovered by the other gods they stripped the shaper and huntress of their godhood, casting them to the earth. The two, despite their mortality, found happiness and created marriage. Enraged at the two the jealous god of sight cast the two apart, with the shaper god being sent to the frigid mountains of the northern coast and the huntress across the mountains twice over, over deserts and mesas, over a hundred rivers and into a land of caves and ravines. The other gods, seeking to find something a faction as fulfilling as the stricken gods, and to sate their needs created first the elves, then the giants, and after that all the other races of the world. After Which they began to favor the races they had made and came to resemble the souls they took in.

The Unforgivable Act-

Once separated, the huntress and shaper tried until they were old and grey to leave their prisons to reunite, however, the Goddess of Birth, took a single letter from the shaper to the huntress, a letter of love with a simple command, to shape sculptures of what she thought her and the shaper's children to be. The two began to sculpt, the shape in the depths of a cave, and the huntress along a river. Each shaped a hundred pairs before they died. As they died, the immortal souls of the shaper and the huntress did not ascend to the cosmos as the pantheon wished, and instead, remained in remains of the dead former-gods. However, as they died, their sculptures came to life, the first humans. The god of sight enraged further that the shaper had not been stopped in full. The two groups of these first humans were named Kaelamaih and Brezovina, Kaelamaih being the ones the shaper made in his cave, and Brezovina those carved by the huntress. Soon, the god of sight, in the form of an elf, discovered that the Goddess of Birth was the one who had delivered the message, and in his rage, sought to destroy the shelled ones she and her friends had come to love as children, though it was in earnest because of a vision he had.

The Quiet Night

Upon the death of the huntress, two gods appeared in the realm of gods, the ranger and the forester, immediately they took to the forests and plains of the earth, hunting and tending like instinct. Over the centuries between the two brothers discovered the death of the huntress, someone they believed to be something of an older sister. Upon discovering what became of her final creation and that of the shaper's they could not leave the forest or else sight would see them and strike them. So, they did the unthinkable, and joined the dream of the ancients, one joined the father dream, becoming the great spirit, the other joined the mother dream and became the spirit of nature, however the dream restored the forester its mind, rendering it the elder Tyoth'mir, changing the yet unsettled form of the forester to a that of an old man's face in wood.

The Threefold Wars- The War the Was, the War that Is, the War that Will Come

The Dream War (I'm also writing a longer epic of this in my main worldbuilding document)

After the races made by the gods had spread across the world, the god of sight saw into the future, his favorite land overrun with legions of insects, some smaller than the head of a pin others larger than the tallest trees. The elves, and all the other gods and their races sailed to the land the elves hailed from seeking to defend it from this coming invasion. However, it was his own denouncement of the Goddess of Birth that would despoil the land. When Sight arrived he found the land ruined, the tide of shells and carapace rendered the once pristine land a writhing mass of insects. Sight gave Vulfan, the God of War, the command of the conquest of the land, however despite the vast legions rallied by sight, and despite the perfect movements made by Vulfan, the armies were destroyed to a man, and the Goddess of Birth was renamed by her followers, to the Queen-Mother. The Queen-Mother, and her newly renamed pantheon of the insects, struck at Vulfan and Sight, with the Sister-Guard, Brother-Soldier, and Daughter-Worker fighting Vulfan to a standstill while the Queen-Mother blinded sight, sinking her clawed hands into his eyes. So too was Sight renamed to Blind Pride. So ended the dream war, opening up a seat of power in the realm of the gods, and dividing it for the first time. With Sight blinded his elves lost the ability to see the world as it was, only able to the see the magics of it all, to honor their gods the elves do not speak with their mouths, only with their minds.

The Giantsfall (This is the simplified version, I have a way longer epic poem about this in the works)

The Giantsfall was the war to vanquish mankind. The first attack had the giants destroy the holds of mankind, destroying all but eight clans. However, the wizard king, summoned a great bolt of lightning, breaking a great mountain of ice and setting, and drowned all but one giant in a great flood. The giants, known for their friendliness and helpfulness to the other races, now reduced to one, lonely giantling, drove the reluctant other races to war. The first attack on the final hold, led by Vulfan himself, failed, and Vulfan, stuck by a strange spell, a spell no mortal could cast, a spell no god knew, a spell the wizard who cast it did not know, and Vulfan, was slain the world never knowing was slew the Wolf-Warrior. This scattered the Vulfan, but the anger and sadness of their loss, they swore that each year they would march to the mountains, and only after this long march would they be allowed to take a mate and have pups. The frail wizard king, ordered his people to create a great skeleton of metal, one bone for bone of mankind, and taking the corpse of a god they drained the ichor of Vulfan into the great reverse grave that housed the great skeleton. After they added what remained of the god, all but his bones, to the reverse grave. The concoction began to form the god of man, a product of man and something more ancient. However the birth of a god took years, so much so that Alamein son of Elamein, son of Havalein, marshall of the elves, led the largest army the world has ever known to the final hold, just as the human defenders were about to be pushed from the walls, a great iron hand rose from the reverse grave, and the god of man rose, without a face, his body shifted between all metals, settling on a golden head he seized the wizard king, staring into him without eyes, and the wizard nodded. In an instant the god had vanished, with the faceless god went the bones of Vulfan. And Alamein, a being bestowed with the blessings of all gods, had them ripped from him, trapped between the realm of the divine and the realm of the mortals. The army of all races was scattered, fleeing to their homes. And the war between elf and man has never ended. The Vulfan having felt their god die, fell into a great mourning, however, as an act kindness, the rarest of all of Alamein's actions, he stole the bones of Vulfan from the faceless god, and the souls of the dead Vulfan took the bones, and created a new pantheon, a wolven pantheon, of which Vulfan was the noble father, and his death in battle defined theirs, with all great warriors joining him in the paradise beyond heaven. After this the humans began to spread, and the war rages on.

The War that Will Be-

It is nothing but a prophecy

Infinity shall be bound

That what is broken shall mend

A viel will lift and a mask shatter

Thunder challenges flesh

The oath once given must be restored
