My senses seemed to have calmed down now, meaning this is a safe area to settle in. An area where there is no monster-infested terrain or dangerous warped land. I tapped the shoulder of the person who was driving the RV. It was a nice old man who knew me for a couple of months. Thankfully, he was nice enough to let me ride in his vehicle for the day.

"Hey, stop here," I said. "We're safe now."

The old man pulled over his RV in a large empty parking lot. Once he pulled over, so did the seven other RVs behind him. The other RVs followed him here because I was with him. I have a special ability that senses danger and a 'wave' of corrupt magic that only my species can see. The thing is-- I am my only species in my community. That is why I play a very special role amongst them: a warning to keep us safe from the horrid world out there. Decades before I was born, there was an apocalypse that changed the world forever. The land started to warp and twist, causing most technology failing to work. And the worst part is that our planet became filled with deadly monsters. My whole life I had to live with this. We all had to live with this. However, what made my experience worse compared to others is that my parents were never there for me. My mother died during childbirth and my father left me before I was born. No one knows who that man was. That's why I'm the only species left in my community, and with my special ability, they couldn't just leave me to die. The community as a whole decided to raise me. People would just pass me around every week and take turns taking care of me, which is why I am with this old man.

Once the RV was parked, I thanked the old man and hopped off the vehicle. I ran to the other RV across the parking lot and knocked on the door. Ten seconds later, I see my best friend open the door. Her smile grew as she saw me.

"Luna!" Roxanne cheered.

"Roxanne!" I cheered back.

We both gave each other the tightest hug. As she hugged me, I felt the nub of Roxanne's missing arm against my body. Sadly, Roxanne had lost her arm due to a monster attack a while ago. It kills me everyday knowing that I could've changed this outcome if I told her in time, but I wasn't present during the attack. Roxanne, on the other hand, is still thriving and coping with the incident very well. I mean... That's the kind of girl she is. Nowadays, I vow to protect Roxanne with my life. Roxanne is my best friend in the entire world, and I can't let anything happen to her this time. We grew up together and are so close.

We pulled out the hug and walked into Roxanne's RV. We sat down on the couch and let out a huge sigh. A sigh of relief. A sigh that was safe from danger.

"I'm glad we're safe now. You really saved our butts back there," stated Roxanne.

"Oh, it was nothing," I grinned.

Before we arrived in this parking lot, our community was settled in the countryside of the city. Me and Roxanne were just having a normal conversation until I had this strange gut feeling. I felt a sense of danger on its way. It was a very strong feeling. It was a feeling that we needed to get out of there. My paws started to sweat and my head began to ache.

"What's wrong, Luna?" Roxanne questioned as she saw me acting weird.

I paused for a second. "There's-- There's something coming," I warned her. "We have to get out of here. NOW."

"What? What's happenin--"

"NOW!" I cut her off.

I needed to warn everyone in the community. We immediately stood up and ran to the middle of the circle of RVs.

I picked up the megaphone lying on the ground and shouted to everyone in the community, "WE NEED TO LEAVE NOW! PACK YOUR STUFF! EVERYONE GET TO THE ROAD AND FOLLOW ME! I'LL LEAD EVERYONE TO A SAFE AREA!"

I still didn't know what was coming, but I knew it was very dangerous. Everyone in the community dropped everything and got behind the wheel. I dashed into my current caretaker's RV, which was the old man, and told him the direction we should go towards. Our RV was in front and led the others to follow. Thus, leading us to this very moment.

Roxanne suddenly stood up from the couch. "Hey, I have an idea," she whispered.

"What?" I whispered back.

"There's a gas station and a bunch of local stores like two miles away from here. Let's go loot everything," she said. "We can probably find a ton of things from the old world over there."

"I'm so down," I responded.

All of a sudden, Roxanne's parents barge into the room.

Her mother, Jade, gave me a hug and began to praise me, "Luna! You've done it once again! I'm so happy we're safe because of you! Thank you so much! You're our savior!"

Mason, Roxanne's father, shook my hand. "You are the reason this whole family and everyone around us is alive. Thank you for your service. You are a vital part of this community," he remarked.

I was flustered. "Oh-- no problem. Really, it was nothing," I smiled.

"Hey mom? Me and Luna were wondering if we could go to the park nearby. It's just around the corner," grinned Roxanne.

"Mmm... I don't know, honey. With what just happened, I don't think it's safe," responded Jade.

"Don't worry, mom. I have Luna with me. She can sense if we're in danger or not," said Roxanne.

"Uh, yeah. Don't worry about us. I'm pretty sure it's safe right now," I vouched.

"Alright then. You girls have fun," said Mason.

Me and Roxanne headed in the direction of the park, but we weren't going to the park. Hehe. We walked past the park and pinpointed the gas station two miles ahead. I felt very mischievous. Even though Roxanne's parents claimed it to be dangerous, we were raised to be independent and fend for ourselves. Yes, even as young kids, we were taught to survive on our own. When we arrived, we stopped and looked at the gas station for a second. The windows were smashed and the doors were bordered up. The whole gas station looked very run-down. I stepped through one of the smashed windows and entered the abandoned building. Wow. Everything was destroyed. There was trash everywhere. We looked through every aisle and... nothing. Looks like the place has already been looted.

"Did you find anything?" I uttered.

"Nope. Just a bunch of wrappers and empty cans. Nothing we can use," responded Roxanne.

After fifteen minutes of searching for supplies in the actual store area, we decided to enter the storage room in the back.

"Jackpot!" I yelled.

"Finally, something good," said Roxanne.

There were very useful supplies lying in the storage room. Supplies that were from the old world, before the collapse. Supplies that are no longer being produced.

"Geez. Look at the amount of ammunition over here. Probably a hundred rounds of 35mm bullets and a couple grenades," I mentioned.

"GRENADES?!!" Roxanne howled. "Put those down. I don't trust you with them."

"Calm down, I got it..." I reassured her as I tossed the grenades in the bag.

Roxanne gasped,"Look! Medical supplies!" She picked up three medical kits from the drawer. "I think this place used to be a hideout-- or base."

She placed the medical supplies in the bag. We then gathered the rest of the scattered items that were of use to us. Once we were done looting, we left the gas station.

"I think we should head back now. Your parents might start wondering where we are," I insisted.

Roxanne turned around to look at me, but her eyes were suddenly drawn to something else. She stood there in awe. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Woah-- Hold up," she said. "Look at that!"

I turned around and dropped my jaw. There was a giant castle in the distance. Neither of us saw it when we first arrived here. It wasn't there before. To be fair, literally anything can happen in this world. A huge bulbasaur with a sword can grow out the ground or a tiny charizard that spews out rainbows can appear out of nowhere. Literally anything. Me and Roxanne agreed to explore the castle together. We slowly pushed the large wooden door open and looked inside. It was incredibly dark and hard to see where we were going. Thankfully, there was a lit torch displayed on the wall that we snatched. We used the torch to find our way around the castle. Me and Roxanne searched through every room and found things that we have never seen before. Things that were way before our time. We saw knight armor, medieval shields, bow and arrows, and many antiques. As we opened the door to the final room, I felt four hands grab onto my arms and legs.

"Uh-- Luna?" Roxanne frighteningly said.

I glanced over at Roxanne and saw her arms and legs being possessed as well. I took a look behind her and saw the creepiest thing I have ever seen. There were faceless ghosts with black cloaks and gauntlets grasping our body. They were so strong. I tried resisting their force, but they didn't budge. Not even a little bit. They began to pull us across the castle into a dark, secret underground tunnel.

"LET US GO!" I pleaded.

I was genuinely scared, not only for my life, but for Roxanne's especially. I felt very upset and angry at myself. Why didn't I sense anything? How could I have let this happen? Even after I had vowed to protect Roxanne's life. I don't want anything to happen to her. Not again. The faceless ghosts dragged us deeper down into the tunnel, until finally, we arrived in what looked like a dungeon. They shackled me to a stretching rack, meaning my arms and legs were restrained from movement. They also locked Roxanne's ankles in stocks that were used in the medieval time period. She was lying on the ground. I closed my eyes and rested my head in disappointment.

"Why didn't your senses tell you that we were in danger?" Roxanne questioned.

"I-- I don't know," I muttered.

Once the ghosts finished locking us in these restraints, one of them said to us, "You've trespassed our sacred grounds, disturbed our rest, and stole from our property."

"WHAT? WE DIDN'T STEAL ANYTHING! WE WERE JUST LOOKING AROUND!" Roxanne screamed.

The ghost went up to Roxanne and bowed his faceless head over her body. "Lying isn't good, little girl. But don't worry, this will only hurt a little," he taunted.

I took a deep breath. One of the other ghosts started to slowly turn the wheels for the stretching rack. It began to gradually pull my body apart. I felt my muscles ripping, my spine extending, and my limbs dislocating. My joints suffered excruciating pain. He continued to pull more and more, no hesitation. I clenched my fists and grit my teeth. The pain grew stronger and stronger. I couldn't bare it anymore. Heck-- I couldn't even breathe at this point.

"AHHH!" I screamed in agony.

Meanwhile, Roxanne was busy with her own form of torture. One of the ghosts slid a wide dish filled with hot coals under Roxanne's restrained feet. Roxanne howls as her soles and her paw pads are exposed to the sizzling heat. The ghost kept on shifting the hot coals back and forth to prevent any actual damage, but it was still very antagonizing. Roxanne could smell her burning fur, and soon, she'll smell of roasted flesh. Her eyes widened and her screams grew louder.

Sweat dripped down my face. It felt like we were going to die. I was so close to being ripped into pieces, and Roxanne was close to being a cooked meal. I was going to accept our fate, until an idea popped into my head.

"OKAY! OKAY! FINE, WE DID STEAL SOME OF YOUR TREASURE!" I pleaded. "JUST LET US GO AND WE'LL SHOW YOU WHERE WE HID IT."

The scary, cloaked ghosts showed us some mercy. "Stop," One of them demanded. They all paused everything they were doing.

He leaned in towards me and said, "Fine, we'll let you go. I had some pity anyway. Show us our treasure and we'll set you free."

"Deal," I agreed.

They unlocked our limbs from the restraints. I stood up, rubbing my stiff back. Ouch. A little more of that and I'm done. Roxanne could barely stand up from how sore her feet were. Thank God we're out. Roxanne looked at me in confusion. Her face tells me one question: what the hell are you doing?

"Alright, let's go," I told the ghosts.

I brought them across the castle, leading them to the outside. I closed my eyes. I felt a strange gut feeling. It was a strong feeling. My paws began to sweat and my head began to ache. I opened my eyes.

"ROXANNE, GET DOWN!" I yelled.

I tackled Roxanne into a ditch beside us. A powerful gust of magical wind swooped the faceless ghosts away. As the wave of magic blew them away out of sight, they cursed and wailed.

"WE'LL COME BACK FOR YOU! DARN KIDS! YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!" They uttered.

Along with the ghosts, the castle was also sucked into oblivion. Me and Roxanne ducked our heads until the loud wind stopped. Once we no longer heard anything, we popped our heads above the ditch and observed our surroundings. The castle was nowhere to be seen. It was almost like it never existed. Me and Roxanne dropped back to the ground and sighed.

"You felt the wind coming, didn't you?" Roxanne asked.

"Yeah. Smart plan though, right?" I said.

"Yeah, it was," Roxanne chuckled.

"We should've just played at the park," I responded.

They both giggled.
