Here is chapter 15. The battle begins as Raz and his friends struggle to fight off Strife's invasion force. However, while things look grim, the dragons will find help from an unlikely source. If you are new to the story, please read the previous chapters for the whole narrative.

Raz, Maz, Rocky, Kyle, and even Buckner, who had a clean bill of health, suited up with their gear and the governors. Raz couldn't help but smile because he was fighting alongside not only his parents but the other leaders, as well. Each one was a legend in their own right and held the most experience in their respective element. Raz felt honored that he was among them if this was the end. However, he couldn't think of anything negative at this moment.

Soon, they all ran or flew across the lawn as the soldiers assembled and were ready to go. They saw the black mist head for them; before anyone could move, it consumed everyone. Raz's vision clouded; the only thing he could see was black. Nevertheless, what he heard made chills creep down his spine. It was the sound of his fellow Dragons being killed, who cried out in agony.

At first, Raz did not understand because he knew there were no enemy soldiers nearby to kill anyone. But, as he stayed in that mist, Raz soon felt the overwhelming despair hit him with such a force he breathed out fire, forming it into his fire sword. Then he almost impaled himself through the chest. It was only by sheer will that he did not, and then it dawned on him. The sounds that he heard were his own troops killing themselves.

Even now, Raz had to fight the temptation to end it all, and his anger replaced the despair. Anger, along with panic, because he didn't know if his friends had killed themselves or resisted. Whatever the case, he needed to find them quickly. He could not see his hand in front of his face, let alone anyone. However, he had to try.

"Everyone! Listen to me! Don't give in to despair! You are strong, and you are brave! Even if we die, we will die doing what is right! Listen to my voice!" Raz shouted and soon heard Buckner off to his left.

"Raz?! Is that you?!" Buckner said with despair in his voice.

"Yes, Buckner, it's me! Don't give in! You are the smartest Dragon I know. You have nothing to be ashamed of," Raz said as he stumbled into Buckner, who had his ice sword pointed at his throat.

"I'm trying, Raz! But it hurts so much!"

"I know! I'm feeling it too, and it makes me angry at the ones doing this. Direct your despair into anger."

"All right. I'll try!" Buckner said, and Raz felt him shift and look directly at Raz.

"That does work!" Buckner said in an irritated voice.

"All of you! Turn your despair into anger. Direct the energy into anger; it's the only chance!" Raz shouted and quickly turned to Buckner. "We need to find a way to clean out this air."

Buckner nodded and said, "I have an idea."

Buckner sprayed out boiling hot water and began Working it. "You may want to duck!" Buckner said as Raz ducked.

"Everyone, DUCK!" Buckner yelled as he began to spin like that of a cyclone. The boiling water went out so fast that it turned into a fine mist. Soon the air cleared and was all gone in a matter of minutes.

"Nice job! But why did you say 'duck'?" Raz asked as Buckner turned to him.

"Because the pressure I put on the water can rip flesh to pieces if I'm not careful," Buckner said as Raz looked around and instantly felt sick. There before him were hundreds, if not thousands of soldiers, who took their own life. The governors appeared to be shaken up but altogether, all alright. But where were Rocky, Kyle, and his brother Maz?

"Maz! Where are you?!" Raz shouted, and he heard someone respond from behind. He turned to see Maz holding Rocky and Kyle to keep them from killing themselves, but he had several cuts from their escape attempts across his arms.

Rocky and Kyle both relaxed as Maz slowly let go of them. He walked up to Raz, who looked rather impressed. "Are you okay, Raz?"

"Yes, but I honestly thought you might...well...you know...." Raz said, and Maz nodded.

"I knew what was happening even with your shouts of encouragement. These two were about to commit before I stopped them." Maz said but suddenly was cut off by an explosion in the distance to the southeast. They all looked up and saw a massive army numbering near two hundred thousand strong.

Raz was temporarily stunned by the sheer size of the force that threatened to consume them all. Someone brought Raz out of this paralysis by putting a hand on his shoulder. Raz saw Blaze standing there with Amber, Maria, Ian, Stone, Rosemary, all four governors, and all of his companions. There, for a moment, Raz felt their love and knew they would be together if this was to be their last moment.

"All right, everyone. Form up ranks. Fire Dragons to the front, Wind Dragons behind them to help amplify the attacks. Water and Terrain Dragons, you guys are the heavy hitters. We will be launching ice balls filled with salt." Raz said that as the troops fell into line, he, Maz, Blaze, Amber, Miles, Sarah, and the rest of the Fire Dragons moved to the front of the line. They watched as the massive force marched towards them, and looks like a sea of black coming in at high tide.

Raz could not help but notice that his forces had dropped to almost half and prayed to the heavens to give the rest of his troops courage. The wait was unbearable. He just assumed to get it done and over with, but he also knew that time helped form strategy. It would not help much, but anything that gave them an advantage was more than welcome. At any rate, he was not all for dying that quickly.

Soon, the Dark Army drew close enough for all of them to see in detail. At this point, Raz's heart was beating fast in his chest, and he had to take a couple of deep breaths to steady himself. He knew the time was near, but he wanted to ensure the enemy was well within range before opening fire. He raised his right hand with the fire firm in his grip and dropped it as he shouted, "FIRE!"

The catapults behind him came to life with Dragons operating them. They fired several large ice balls of salt into the opposing army. As soon as the ice hit, it was thin enough to explode on contact and spray all enemies within twenty feet with salt. When the salt made contact with the enemy, several loud cries as static electricity arched out in different directions. This continued for several moments, but the force was so massive that they continued to come. This was no surprise to Raz, but he was pleased to know that many of them died instantly.

Soon they were in the range of the Fire Dragons as everyone, including Raz, held their hands in front of them. The heat began to radiate so hot that the air started to warp and distort as all of the Fire Dragons glowed orange or red. Then all at once, they shouted, "HEAVEN'S FIREWALL!"

Instantly, the fire in their hands responded and grew until an excellent forty-foot wall of flame stood in front of them. Not only that, but it expanded the entire length of the front line. This technique was one of those rare events in which Fire Dragons could share their flame.

They built up pressure and caused the wall to blast forward about fifty yards away, instantly obliterating all enemies within range. Others were too near ignited on fire, and the fire spread quickly through their ranks. Unfortunately, the rest were smart enough to move away before catching fire. Raz noticed, however, that merely a quarter of the enemy forces were wiped out through their efforts. This was somewhat comforting, but they still were vastly outnumbered. However, there was nothing else they could do but charge into the fray and pray that they would come out on the other side.

So Raz held his fire sword aloft and said, "This is it. Let's give them everything we've got. Charge!"

Raz led his army into the enemy at full speed and crashed against it with all their might. Sword against sword, shield against shield, and blow for blow, they fought. Raz fought alongside his brother and fought as if one entity. Every block one made, the other was there to strike the killing blow. Raz, at one point, flung his fire sword into a demon's head as he jumped on top of it and ducked as Maz came swinging in with his ax that was burning bright white.

"Is that Nova Fire, Maz?" Raz asked as he lopped off a demon's head.

"Indeed, it is. You should try it one time." As a demon came charging in only to be side-stepped and an ax put into its back, Maz said.

"Oh, you mean this?" Raz said as he stabbed a demon and pulled out his sword. The sword was now burning bright white and resembled that of a long sword.

"So you did master it. Father would be proud." Maz said.

"I am, son. Good job." Miles said as he crashed in, riding on top of a troll with his sword in its head. It finally collapsed as Raz and Maz jumped out of the way.

Nearby, Amber and Blaze were fighting demons, as well. Both fighting back to back. Blaze had his fire great sword out, swinging it at incredible speeds. Like with Raz and Maz, both fought as one. Blaze held his sword level at one point as Amber jumped onto the blade and shouted, "BURNING HEARTBREAKER!" Every enemy within a twenty-foot radius was struck down.

"Nice, Amber. Let me show you mine." Blaze said as Amber cracked a smile.

"So you have been working on it?" Amber said, and just at that moment. The crowd parted just enough for Raz to bear witness to Blaze's Signature Flame Work.

Blaze started by breaking up his fire sword into eight fireballs that floated around him in a circle. Then he raised his hands in a rhythmic motion as the fireballs followed his movements. Soon he was moving so fast that the light trails formed a great rose hanging in front of him. Then Blaze shouted out, "ROSE PALM ATTACK!"

Blaze instantly whipped through his opponents with great speed and accuracy, killing eighty to a hundred demons in seconds. He reformed his fire sword and smiled at Amber. "What did you think?" Blaze asked as she killed another demon.

"Impressive, but pay attention!" Amber said as she killed another that was about to stab Blaze. They went back to fighting as Raz nodded his approval and lopped off a demon's head. However, Raz was soon aware that his soldiers fell quickly around him and needed to do something fast. Raz looked over and saw Rocky, Kyle, and Buckner all fighting in a triad.

Rocky used a massive diamond Warhammer to deal incredible damage to their enemies. The fantastic thing about Rocky's hammer was that he could wield it quickly due to the diamond material. He struck a demon in the head so hard that it flew off, spraying blood everywhere. He ducked an attack and put an elbow into the face of his attacker. Then he grabbed its head and flung him into a group of charging demons. He lifted several stones, Buckner froze with spikes, and Kyle used his wind to increase their speed. The rocks exploded amid several demons who cried out in agony.

Buckner fought with his ice trident and pierced a demon through the chest before removing and slapping it with the backside. "Look out!" Buckner shouted as Rocky and Kyle ducked out of the way.

Buckner raised his trident as storm clouds gathered above the battlefield. Immediately everyone looked up as the snow began to fall. Then Buckner glowed an aquamarine blue and said in a calm yet powerful voice, "DEEP FREEZE!" Instantly every demon within a fifty-foot radius was frozen and broken apart by the soldiers.

"Nice job, Buckner!" Rocky said as Buckner grinned, and they went back to fighting the enemy.

Impressed with this, Kyle knocked a demon back with an air blast. He followed up by lopping its head off and stabbing another. "That was impassive, Buckner, but check this out," Kyle said as he flew above the battlefield and aimed his sword at a group of demons.

"MUSICAL WIND TUNNEL!" Kyle shouted, and at first, Rocky and Buckner only heard a few strums of a lyre before hearing the sound of trumpets blasting out. The wind at this point picked up incredible speed and destructive force as several demons went flying, being torn apart by the wind.

"Not bad, Kyle. But this is not a competition." Rocky said.

Buckner and Kyle looked at each other and said, "Chicken!"

"Chicken, is it? Fine, I can top it." Rocky said as he went silent, and a green aura started to swirl around him. The ground began to rumble and crack while Kyle and Buckner looked dumbfounded.

"Why'd you have to piss him off?" Kyle said as Buckner looked indignant.

"Me?! You taunted him, as well!" Buckner said as they watched a colossal Emerald Dragon rise above the ground. The Dragon flapped a couple of times with its wings before taking flight. The demons cowered before it as the Supreme Region Army cheered.

"Okay, I admit. That is way better. Here let me add to it." Kyle said as he heard someone behind him speak.

"Good idea."

Kyle turned to see Raz and Maz walking over to them. "I think the four of us should add to that Dragon and Raz here can zip around to kill off whatever it misses," Maz said as Kyle, Buckner, and Rocky nodded in agreement.

Buckner held up his trident and shouted, "DRAGON'S OCEAN!"

Suddenly, water spouted forth from the trident and formed into a pure Water Dragon that encased the Emerald Dragon. Next, Kyle lifted his sword and shouted, "DRAGON'S TEMPEST!"

A massive spectral Dragon rose up out of the winds and encased the Dragon above. Finally, Maz raised his fire ax and shouted, "DRAGON'S INFERNO!"

Fire shot forth and added to the Dragon up above that suddenly began to glow brightly. Suddenly, it flashed with a loud CRACK, and there before them hovered a colossal Golden Dragon. All four Element Dragons were synced together and controlled the massive spectral reptile. Raz smiled at seeing this and said, "Time to go to work!"

Raz disappeared from their sight except for the fire sword that left its light trail as he went through several enemy troops within seconds. The Golden Dragon swooped down upon the battlefield and breathed out a golden beam of light that exploded on contact. Raz was beside himself with aw, because of the massive power the Dragon held. He continued to run through the lines and helped out several who struggled. He couldn't believe it. Things were finally looking better, and hope began to fill his heart.

Raz stops to recover for a moment as the Golden Dragon makes another pass. The whole line of explosion looked like napalm as several thousand demons vaporized instantly. Raz shouted out in triumph as the Dragon went by, but something caught Raz's eye, and he turned his head to see a figure way up in the sky charging some kind of weapon. Raz's eyes grew big and disappeared, speeding towards this figure, but too late. The figure fired and hit the Golden Dragon in the chest as it roared in agony.

Buckner, Rocky, Kyle, and Maz all cried in pain as they collapsed. Their energy was tied to it and suffered whatever the Dragon suffered. Raz caught this figure off guard and punched him in the face. However, this didn't even phase him as he looked back at Raz and smiled.

"You seem surprised. Why is that, I wonder? Oh, yes. That's right. You're weak, and I am strong," said the being as he held up his hand and flicked Raz away. The flick wouldn't have typically done anything except this one had the impact of a bullet. Raz felt pain explode across his snout and saw blood spray from both nostrils as he sailed back into the ground.

"Raz!" Maz called out and got up, stumbling over to the massive crater in the ground. Raz crawled out of the rubble as blood poured from his nostrils, and he had a bruise on his snout. His armor took most of the impact when he hit the ground and looked dented. He couldn't believe the overwhelming power that this was being held, yet the pain across his body proved true.

Maz pulled Raz up when he reached the edge of the crater. "Raz! Are you all right?" Maz asked as Raz staggered to his feet and nodded.

"Yes, but it was like being hit by a wall. There is more power behind that being than the rest." Raz said as he looked up at the entity floating above the battlefield. His long red hair was tied back as a ringlet of black steel sat on top of his head. His massive black feathered wings matched perfectly with his pitch-black armor. He was looking down at the battlefield, and Raz retook flight. He stopped before the being and said, "You must be Strife."

"That I am, and you must be King Drakken. Have you come to kneel at my feet?" Strife said as Raz cracked a smile.

"Not in the least. I have come to stop your invasion of this world." Raz said as Strife let out an evil laugh.

"You, stop me? You couldn't even hurt me with that pathetic punch of yours. You're so weak that I almost wanted to kill you instantly. However, I'll give you one more chance to do your best against me. Come on, give me your best shot." Strife said as Raz looked a little frustrated by this comment.

Strife made a valid point. Raz threw his best punch into his face, and it didn't even phase him. But he couldn't just give up; he had to try. He gripped his sword and clicked his watch, disappearing from sight, at least from their view.

"Is this it? Is this your precious gift that this pathetic planet gave you?" Strife said as Raz looked over and saw Strife moving alongside him at ease. Raz gritted his teeth in frustration and slashed his sword sideways. However, Strife caught the fire sword in his hand as it sizzled and looked at it.

"This is pathetic, as well. The power of a star? Really? Can you do any better? Here let me demonstrate how to use the power of a star properly." Strife said as he took Raz's flame and intensified it rapidly until it exploded in Raz's face. Raz cried out in pain as he flew back to the ground and was caught by his brother.

"This world is so pathetic and weak I don't even know how my generals were ever defeated by you or why I even gave you a chance. This battle and war end now!" Strife said as he held his sword aloft and started to charge up an energy ball that grew in size.

Raz looked up to see the massive energy ball gaining size every few seconds and knew he had to do something. But what? His brother joined him, and Raz looked around at everyone. Was this it? Was this really the end? Did they get this far only to fail now? No, and he wouldn't stop fighting until the very end. If it was the last thing he would do, he would protect everyone.

Raz breathed out more fire and reformed his Nova Sword. Maz walked up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder as Raz looked back at his brother. "Together this time. If this is the end, then we will face it together." Maz said as Raz smiled and nodded.

Maz gripped his double-edge fire war-ax in his hands as he and Raz took flight. Strife laughed hysterically at their feeble attempt and yelled, "It's time to die! Farewell, DRAGONS!"

That said, Strife launched the colossal energy ball that would've filled the area around the Pearl Tower several times over. Everyone looked up to see Raz and Maz heading directly towards the energy ball. They all cried out as Raz and Maz roared and then silenced.

Raz looked around to find no one was moving except for Maz and gave him a curious look. "Did you..." Maz began, but Raz held up his hands.

"It wasn't me!" Raz said and heard someone else speak.

"It was us," said a low male voice, making Raz and Maz turn on the spot. There before them stood two colossal Dragons. One white and one black. They looked intimidating.

"Who are you?" Raz asked with trepidation in his voice.

"We are the representatives of the two-loss races of Dragon. Both Light and Dark." Said the white Dragon in a feminine voice.

"We are here because you have proved to us that you really care about our ancient home, and we want to help you." Said the black Dragon in his low voice.

"We are honored by your presence, and thank you for the help. I hope we will live up to your standards." Maz said as they both smiled.

"Mazial Drakken. You will embody the spirit of the White Dragon, for you have a pure heart full of love that cannot be extinguished. To call on my power, just say Power of the White Dragon Unlock!" The White Dragon said as she turned into pure energy and poured into Maz, who let out a yelp at the massive amount of power.

"And you Razial Drakken. You will receive the power of the Black Dragon Race, for your heart has known chaos and has used it to better everyone. To access my power, just say Power of the Black Dragon Unlock." The Black Dragon turned into pure energy and poured into Raz, who grunted at the massive increase in power. Suddenly, they heard both Dragons say, "Unlock us, now!"

Maz and Raz looked at each other and shrugged before Raz shouted, "POWER OF THE BLACK DRAGON UNLOCK!"

Maz followed suit and shouted, "POWER OF THE WHITE DRAGON UNLOCK!"

Suddenly, the energy around them exploded as they both underwent transformations. Their scales, wings, tails and all grew out longer. Their scales changed colors, too, as Raz went black and Maz went white. Their muscles bulged out for a moment before turning back to normal. Finally, when the transformation was over, the massive energy ball immediately broke apart and disappeared. There before Strife stood two warriors who looked very feral as the energy swirled around them both.

Strife was still in utter disbelief as to what just happened but soon was over the shock. "Oh, so you changed colors. Do you really think that will save you?" Strife said as Kyle, Rocky, Buckner, and their friends looked up at this in awe.

What just happened?" Kyle asked as Buckner and Rocky smiled.

"So they finally appear after all," Buckner said as Kyle looked confused.

"What do you mean? Who are they?" Kyle asked as Rocky answered.

"They are the Dark and Light Dragons of old. They are the two-loss races of Dragons that were here before us. It looks like they have chosen Raz and Maz to be their representatives in this war." Rocky said as Kyle looked quite impressed and turned his attention back towards the two.

As they stood there, a low growl could be heard as their aura continued to swirl around them and readied for battle.
