so brandon is just as clever compared to anyone else, he is just quiet about it.
Turns out the person who decided to ruin Nathan's social life was a bully of the school that no one liked. And Brandon doing his own digging figured this out and promptly released the video exposing this bully. Nathan being Nathan who was paying more attention to his studies and did not notice that people were sympathetic to him over what happened. Brandon kept this to himself or at least until the others found out.
