A Furry World - Part 6 A Girls Day Out
The Saturday of the 26th of February is a day we will never forget. It all started about a week earlier.
"Lupy, Lupy are you there?"
"What? Hey I'm sorry I kinda got lost in this news report I'm reading" I tear my eyes away from my computer screen. "Where were we?"
"What where you reading" came Striptail's voice through the phone.
"Just another story about 'Human's Only' at this rate they will be declared terrorists" I said turning off the screen and lying down on my bed. "So you're coming Friday and Saturday we are going shopping?"
"Yes I can't wait there isn't really shops here and I seriously need a new halter" shi said hir voice filled with excitement.
"See you then Stripes and thank you again" I said closing my cell phone and laying back getting comfortable. I have been looking forward to this weekend for almost a month, except for getting to see my friend it also meant I could deal with a need of my new body.
Who or what had changed us into furries had done it with exact precision especially with chakats copying every part of the anatomy and mental state from the Bernard Doove books in which they were the main part of almost every story. This include the need to spend at least a day in close company with another chakat every few months, not that I minded but so far I'm the only one in New York but Stripes visit will solve that I thought as I drifted off to sleep.
Friday afternoon I was busy putting the DVD's back on their shelves when someone swatted me on my rump. Quickly spinning around I found myself almost nose to nose with a grinning Stripetail.
"Did I scare you?" shi asked in a concerned voice that was ruined by the huge grin that was still on hir face.
I gave my head a shake and pulled hir into a tight hug "When did you get here?" I asked letting hir go.
"Just now. I'm here to give you a lift home" she said looking around "when does your shift end?"
"In about an hour and what do you mean give me a lift home?" I asked looking at her puzzled as the grin grew wider till her teeth showed.
"You will have to wait and see" shi said with a wink and went to look at more of the DVD's on the shelves.
An hour later we both walked down the street and stopped at what looked like a stretched minibus with only a sliding door on both sides in the middle.
"'You won't believe how hard it was to find a parking space" shi said as shi opened a door revealing four flat seats, two in front and two in the middle, "The first car made for taurs it's hard to learn how to drive it but it's better than sitting in the back of some truck".
My mouth hanging open I moved around and got in at the passenger's side and watched Stripe swinging a headrest so it was behind her back than she buckled hirself in and I quickly did the same and we were off.
When we got to the shop everybody was curious about the new car and Stripe was kept explaining it to each new arrival. When Laika walked in I immediately sprang up and gave her a deep loving kiss.
"Well seems I missed a lot" said Stripe when we finally broke the kiss. The insides of our ears turning red, showing our blush despite the red fur hiding it on our faces.
Laika then turned to Candy who was happily licking the huge lollipop stripes had given hir "Well you can ask hir tonight Candy will be sleeping with me so you two have Lupus' room for yourselves"
It was Stripes turn to blush and no more was said till after dinner when Stripes and I left for my room.
It was hard waking up early and having to remove myself from Stripes embrace but I had my job to do and they won't forgive me if I'm late with breakfast. After a quick shower I took my time and cook a massive breakfast since we would need a lot of energy for today.
"Morning you. Sorry if I woke you up" I said to a bleary eyed Laika.
"You did in a way. It all smell so good who could sleep?" she said and sure enough doors were opening all down the hall.
"Come and get it!"
After breakfast Liaka, Striptail, Candy and I started to get ready for our big shopping trip making sure we looked our absolute best. Candy had been a real teenager and wore baggy jeans and a tight top, while Strip and I both chose light shirts and a jacket for the day and Laika made me and Stripe's jaws drop when she came out of her room with a tight blouse that showed every male here was a vixen that liked being looked at. As an afterthought I added a ribbon to my tail.
The drive in the taur car was fun but again finding parking was a pain and we had to stop far from an entrance to the shopping center. The shopping center itself was impressive and it didn't take long for us to start some window shopping. Maybe because of this new form or maybe the company but I really enjoyed it and I use to hate window shopping. From store to store we went trying on clothes, make up -without much success-, perfume and pants -which haven't become more comfortable since the day they were first created-.
We were busy trying on some halter tops when I heard the first scream and rushed to the shop entrance and saw them, five men all crying guns and on their shirts a green H inside a red O 'Humans Only'.
I quickly looked the other way but three more were coming from there so in a bit of a panic I rushed back to the store owner "Is there a back way out" I asked as Stripe and the others joining me.
"Sure but freaks like you might not fit through the door" he said with a smirk and he made a dash for the entrance but stripe was faster and grabbed him with hir tail and knocked him out, shi started to go through his pockets a found a large key ring with many unmarked keys on it. Shi grabbed what looked a security key and ran to lower the security gate lowering it and breaking the key in the lock.
"Now they can't get in while I figure which key opens the back door" shi said running over to it "you three hide somewhere".
We followed hir to the back of the store getting behind the shelves as shi stared trying keys."
"Chris! Why the hell is the gate down" came a shout and then a mutter of voice which made me realize we had left the guy right there on the floor "Come out little freaks we just want to talk" the same voice said more quietly and coldly like a blast of arctic wind.
Pulling Candy closer to me, Laika and I watched as Stripe kept trying keys hir hands shaking badly then the was a shot and a dull thud and a blossom of red started to spread over Strips' shirt. I grabbed hir and pulled hir away just as more shots came through the door without thinking I grabbed the nearest shelf and pushed it over wedging the door shut.
"Shi is losing a lot of blood we need a bandage" said Laika laying next to Stripe her face worried just then Stripe spoke in a weak voice.
"It's ok I don't think it hit anything just hurts like hell" giving a wince as she tried to get up.
"Lay down and I will try to stop the blood" I said ripping off the shirt and pressing the top I was going to try on against the wound trying to stop the blood.
More shots from the front and the back, the four of us huddled together when it suddenly stopped "Shit it's the cops let's get out of here" shouted a woman's voice at the back door. After what seemed like an eternity another voice shouted from the front.
"I there anybody in there? This is the police"
Taking a chance I shouted back "how do we know you really are a police man"
Another shout came this one sounding a lot kinder "Don't worry it's the real police and medics. Is anybody hurt?"
"Yes my friend shi is a chakat and they shot her through the chest" I shouted looking out from our hiding place and nearly collapsed with relief as I saw the blue uniforms.
It took them a while to get us out and get Stripes on a stretcher. Unfortunately this event had terrified Candy of humans again and all the way to the hospital shi clung to me and even while we were there shi never let go of my arm.
Two days later Stripe's was discharged. As I had said chakats were exactly like the characters in the books and most of hir chest was muscle and nothing vital had been hit by the bullet.
Only 7 of the people who had attacked us were arrested and 'Humans Only' were declared a terrorist threat.
That day we and the rest of the furries in the world would never forget.
