#2 of Beauty On The Inside...

Experimentation

"Hmm, your claw is too damaged to be repaired," Illthian examined, holding what was left of Jincea's claw. He hated to see her like this. If she was to be of any use to him, then this needed to be fixed.

"How so?" Jincea asked, casting her blind gaze down in the direction of Illthian's voice.

"Well, for one, your claw is being held by only flesh. The bones have been shattered and the nerves split. Even if I reattach it, you will not have useage of the claw. Which is why I am going to amputate it."

"Excuse me?" Jincea nearly screamed. Illthian didn't really hear it, too busy trying to find a cutting utensil. He didn't want to use his tail unless needed.

"Don't worry, I have a mechanical one for you," Illthian replied nonchalantly. He failed to understand why she was acting like this. Couldn't she understand that he was helping her?

"Wonderful," Jincea sighed. Illthian shot a glance back to see her once again. It was so weird how beautiful she looked and yet when she was in her true form...

After taking her (forcibly) back to the medical area, he found that he was the only one in there and crudely bandaged her chest and wing. Everyone was probably outside enjoying the weather. Technically, today was a day off, so he couldn't fire them for not being here. Not that it mattered. Illthian knew how to ampuate and he had already sterilized the area. It was just a matter of figuring out where the damn doctors put the utensils!

Literally breaking open a cabinet, he found nothing inside. The doctors probably kept their tools like idiots. Either that he wasn't looking in the right area. Then it clicked. He wasn't! Running over to the other side of the room, he busted open another draw and found the knives. Picking one up, he experimentally cut a scale. It went in with no force. Perfect.

There was no time to waste for pain reducing drugs. If he didn't get the limb off, then the dead muscles would cause further issues. Surely she would understand it. It wasn't like she could see him coming anyway. A split second pain would be nothing.

Slowly walking over to her, he had a bad taste in his mouth. Still, he gently grabbed her foreclaw and pulled over a table with his tail. "This may hurt a bit, but it will be over in literally two seconds."

"Very well, I trust your judgment," She answered simply. That fascinated Illthian. How distrustful and cold she was to him before, and now she trusted him. He never understood how that worked.

Illthian nodded and with surgical precision, cut off the limb. She cried out in pain and he didn't like that sound at all. Hurting her was, for some reason, like hurting his favored plant. On that subject, the plant visibly cringed when blood came gushing out. Normally, Illthian would not have an issue with blood. However, this one spooked him because it was red instead of an elemental color.

Grabbing a rag from the table, he tied it around her stump, secretly taking a flash and filling it with her blood. He would need to test it. She was a living, breathing, wonder for him. He would have use for her. Non-lethal, of course, but she may feel pain. It needed to be done.

Leaving her for a moment, he grabbed a mechanical claw. Stainless steel at the present, but will blend to any color once directly attatched to someone. The question was; would it be a fit? Taking her amputated claw, he placed that and the metal claw on top of each other. Damn it, this claw was too big! He would need to adjust it.

"Bad news, Jincea," Illthian said. He wasn't sure if she could hear him, but he needed to tell her, "It is going to take some time to get you a new claw. I can get you a prosthetic one within a few moments, but you may have to wait a week for one to function like your real claw."

He saw her nod ever so slightly. Excellent. Now he needed to find one. Thankfully, unlike the tools, he knew where the fake limbs were. Breaking open another locked closet, he found them and grabbed a claw her size. It was made out of some hard material called 'Gerium'. Machines they were not, but Illthian had crafted a few. They were boring.

Making sure they were not stiff, he went back over to her and sighed. He really, really hoped that she was worth the trouble. Although, who could say that they had an Elemental dragon as an assistant? He may make millions! However, he would make sure to never sell her. Many would assume her to be a thing.

Changing the rag (The blood had almost stopped), he replaced it and wrapped her in the cloak once more before picking her up. She was so small compared to him.

"Where...are we...going?" Jincea asked.

"My room. You will be safe there," Illthian answered honestly.

"I am...not that comfortable...yet...." She stammered. What did she mean?

"Why? I just want to make sure you recover so you can stand on your own. Is there anything wrong with that?" She was really starting to confuse him. It wasn't like he was going to take advantage of her. While he sometimes objectified dracidons himself, that wasn't something he would do.

"No, but if you take...advantage of me, then will never want anything to do with you again. I will personally shove you into that disposal unit thing," Jincea threatened. Just as he had anticipated, she was thinking of that.

"If I do that, I'll put myself in there," Illthian reached his room by flying up to the top of a large hall they were in. A Tesla coil was going off. How amazing that thing was.

His room was very, very large. This was mainly due to all of the machinery in the room. A pair of nearly completed robotic wings hung on the wall. An E.A. rested on a work table. Everything else was a mess and despite the piles of broken machinery, Illthian knew where everything was. Messy yet efficient. He had a large bed that was made of straw. It was large because he would frequently toss around and fall off the bed and impale himself on something.

Laying her down on the straw, he saw her blink and adjust herself, "Straw? Hmm, it is a bit stiff, but it is a lot better than on a concrete floor. Is this where I am to stay?"

"Until we can find you a separate room," Illthian had pulled down the metal wings and started to work on them, "I'll put on the prosthetic claw in a moment. I need to make sure that you are no long bleeding. In meantime, this thing calls my attention."

"What thing?"

"Metal wings, a key to my success. It allows creatures such as wolves to fly by directly hooking it up to their nervous system. It is quite fancinating. It took me a year to perfect this design and getting it into mass production took even longer. Hooking up robots to do things like this is not enjoyable." Illthian spoke with pride. Surely she would be impressed by this.

"Hmm..." Jincea fell back. That was not a reaction Illthian was expecting. He felt a bit angered. How can something that no one had been able to do not impress?

"Alright, I'll put it on," He said in exasperation, thinking that was what she wanted.

Grabbing the fake claw, he unwrapped the real claw and was pleased to see that the bleeding had stopped. Unlocking the straps, he fitted her stump with it and wrapped it back up. It was nestled quite neatly. The only remaining thing to do now was to see if it worked. If she could get up, that is.

"You think you can stand?" Illthian asked.

"Not without help," Jincea replied, shedding her cloak and revealing her form once more. Again, Illthian was transfixed by her beauty on the outside...

Shaking himself, he stood on two legs and helped her to her claws. No sooner did he let go did she buckle. Grabbing her, she steadied herself. Illthian expected this and went down on all fours to allow her to lean on him. It took her a moment to stand correctly and the two simultaneously moved. Every few steps, she would collapse. Illthian noticed that her scales were starting to molt. She was turning back.

This may end up being fruitful. Perhaps he could stick her in front of the Tesla Coil and make her an electric dragoness. Or maybe having flames blow on her. It may seem barbaric, but if she was immune and could absorb it, there was no harm done. At least, he hoped she was immune. He would have to ask her in a few moments.

Sure enough, Jincea turned back to the hidieous form. Illthian struggled not to look at her and the plant seemed to faint in shock. It was laughable. However, something that threw his plans into disarray was that there was a tour group going on. Did no one understand the word 'closed'?

"Hold on a second, I have to take care of something..." Illthian muttered to Jincea, getting her back on to the bed.

"What?" She asked.

"Oh I have to go yell at someone..."

No sooner did Illthian step out did someone notice him and then everyone started shouting to him. Wonderful. "Hey!" He shouted down at what appeared to be the leader, "Didn't you read the sign? It says closed."

"Sir, I didn't expect you to be..." She responded, looking quite terrified.

"Hey, this is one of my homes. I can get in here without permission. You, however, need to run stuff like this past me. I am currently busy right now!" He snapped, moving along the railing. What did he care if his public image was tarnished? He would not put up with insolence.

"Sir, I didn't know it would be closed today and they had made time..."

"How could you not know it was closed? Did the big sign saying 'CLOSED TODAY' or the lack of employees mean nothing? I posted it a month ahead of time!" Illthian suddenly lost his footing and vanished. A second later, his claw poked up, "By the way, you are fired. Take this group and go. Sorry for the inconvenience. Come back next week."

Feeling no urge to get up, Illthian pressed a button on the side and the floor started to move him. Moving floors were great. He once went through the entire facility just laying there. Sure, he took many people off guard just because he was standing out. Hilarious indeed.

That was, of course, until he fell off a side.

Once he reached the door, he opened it and found Jincea attempting to stand again. "Hey..." He said. She was surprised and fell.

"Damn it, I almost had it!" She hissed. Illthian shivered.

"Well, almost have it out here. I want to see if you can absorb electricity," Illthian went over to her and tried to get her to move.

"So soon after I turned back? Yes, I am aware when I turn back. I offer no guarentees, Illthian," Jincea warned. Illthian wondered why she was so cool about going with this stuff.

Helping her to the door, he picked her up again and dropped down near the Tesla Coil. Jincea nodded and Illthian released her. He watched her shakingly move in front of the electricity and it struck her. No screams of pain. Brilliant!

Right before his eyes, he saw her scales turn to yellow and her horns turn purple. Lightning marks appeared on her shoulders and stripes formed on her back. Unlike her nature form, she didn't have the shy appearance. Instead, she was just plain beautiful. Again, he was transfixed by her.

He watched her come back and couldn't help but clap his wings together. Illthian had never been this excited ever since his metal wings. That excitement vanished when he saw that she was bleeding badly from her chest. She simply collapsed in front of the reactor and he had almost no way to get to her. Almost.

Quickly flying back to his room, he found a large piece of metal in a non-conducting tube. Frantically, he ran through the piles until he found what he needed. It was half of a claw. Putting it together by tearing off some vines on him (Illthian winced more than once), he now had something he could use to grab her.

Rushing back out, he saw that she was still in the same area. Blood was starting to pool under her. Wasting no time, he got close and grabbed her tail. Pulling back, she was dragged out of the electrical field. Looking over her, he saw that she was very pale and her breathing was ragged. He couldn't save her. He knew stitching but it wouldn't help her.

Luckily for Illthian, there was a hospital a kilometer away. Wasting no time, he grabbed her and flew off towards it. He would not let her die. She was worth so much to him.
