Gone
#2 of Poems
A poem I wrote for a friend that I feel has been getting closer to me everyday. A friend of theirs recently suffered a loss, and she asked my to write this for him. This is for you my friend....

In the future there lies a peace
Where the spirits of life meet once more
All dressed in their coats of fleece
To embark on the final journey to the distant shore
While darkness reigns for a span
Always to yield to the ever present dawn
Memories of yore are a fan
Of the grace with which we all fawn
Loss is the nature of life
A great circle that begins with the birth
Of a new age, a tale that is rife
Yet beholds to mirth
Words can never replace that which is lost
To you I leave this tale of woe
A great sorrow to say goodbye is the cost
And to this end I say death is not a foe
Gone are the ones we hold dear
To live on in their memory is the task
Nothing remains but the pain and the fear
Of a future without them to ask
In this wisdom I share
Hold not to sorrow
Leave behinds its cold unbitter care
And relish in the brightness of morrow
