** Chapter 1: The Blank Book**

Daniel Speng was a 6'-2" tall freshman in college. He just recently turned 19, and is living on his own in a dorm he has to himself. He has long black hair, bangs that he loves to cover his left eye with, letting just one of his hazel eyes show, and skater hair around the back. He could always be seen wearing a large black vest covered in chains and buckles. His pants mimicked the above garments and bagged out at the bottom where his black sneakers snuggly protected his feet. He just moved in, having left the comfort of his parents' home that was five hours away. He knew nobody at the new campus he lived at, and was reluctant to try to make new friends.

Today was the first day of class, and he woke up to the sound of his alarm screeching at a frequency between two legit stations. He needed this irritation to wake him up, or he would disarm the alarm in his sleep. He sat up in his bed, looking around at the small studio dorm. He only had a small bathroom hiding behind a wall that jutted out just next to the front door, a bed, where he spent most of his time, and a study desk with absolutely nothing on it.

The human was in the buff, loving to sleep naked and pretend he's being spooned by some of the sexy guys he's seen walking around campus before he moved in. The way he looked and the way he spoke, the feminine slur that the stereotypical gay boy uses, would let everybody know of his orientation. He came out to the world he knew long ago, and it went fairly well. His father was a little disappointed to know he won't have grandchildren, but he still loved his son, regardless of who he was. School life after coming out was different, since most high school boys are prejudiced against gays. However, while he knew some of the kids would beat him up, he felt relieved when others would defend him and his rights. It evened out, in his opinion.

He bounced around wildly once he got to his feet, his way of waking himself after a long night of sleep. It always worked, and it got him excited for the day ahead. He planned on going to class to figure out what needed to be done first for the professors, and then start playing games on his new laptop. He was feeling nostalgic for the old N64 games he used to play, and just recently found out about emulators.

He looked through his wardrobe which was filled with the same pair of clothes he would wear every day, and in the back were his fur suits. Daniel was a furry. He didn't believe he was an animal stuck in a human's body, no, he knew damn well he was human. He wishes he was something else though. He wished furry people existed in his world. Oh the naughty things he'd do with them. He loved animals with a passion. He has even been involved in beastiality with a pet dog of his before. It was an odd experience that he would never disclose details to anyone. At least he knows the dog really liked it.

Daniel quickly washed himself off in the shower before dressing in his Goth-style garments before he started for class, bringing only a notebook and a pencil. It was the first day, after all, and he didn't want to look TOO nerdy on the first day. Daniel still had some of those high school vibes in him it seemed.

The walk was quite peaceful for the most part. After crossing through the small parking lot, he began descending down a long ramp, curving through beautiful trees with the colors of autumn making the season obvious. Red leaves and orange leaves fighting to stay on top of yellow and brown leaves. Small mounds of the Omni-colored leaves on the sidewalks were left for the children of students and teachers to play in. Daniel remembers how he used to ask his mom to rake him up a nice big mound of leaves for him to play in. It was almost as fun as playing in the snow in winter. He also remembers the day that he jumped into the mound of leaves and returned to the house with cuts all over his body from where sharp edges had cut into him in the mound. He never played in leaves again.

He smiled every time he saw a squirrel look at him and scurry off into a tree. He wanted to kneel down and tell the squirrel he meant no harm, and become friends with the cute creature. He knew the squirrel had every right to be afraid, what with all the hunters and the road kill on man-made surfaces. It must be tragic how a squirrel could run into its mother's defiled corpse on the side of the road.

He loved watching the ducklings follow its mother as they crossed in front of his path, patiently waiting for them to cross. They were so cute, even the big guys in the school who did anything to look manly would allow the ducks passage. There were just certain animals that not even hunters could kill without feeling a flutter in his heart.

When he reached the building where his classrooms resided, he was confronted by a large tanned man of about 22 years. He looked like a well-groomed redneck, his hat on straight, belly pudging out, arms slightly muscled, and pants worn the way they were meant to be worn. The redneck rammed himself into Daniel's shoulder, knocking the notebook out of his hand. He looked back and laughed. "Fag!" Daniel nodded to him, looking very intrigued at the redneck. He wanted to get this guy for bothering him, but he was not match for a brute like that. He was torn between walking off before starting something and snapping back at him. He made his decision, defending himself. "Wow, you're very observant! I guess you're...well, I like your tits I guess." Daniel smirked, but turned and ran as the redneck growled in anger, chasing his prey to beat him down.

Daniel ran to the right quickly once he barged into the front door, the students lounging in the seats nearby looking up to check out the commotion. He rushed up the stairs, laughing as he stopped up on the platform between the two floors and waited for the fatty to start his way up. "C'mon! You got to keep up with me, hunk!" Daniel felt so powerful. He wanted to flirt with the homophobe and wear him out. Daniel's distaste for homophobia wasn't as strong as one would think. Back in high school, he's been known to make boys curious by the way he flirts with them. The bashful look of a straight guy who's being hit on by a fruit was so priceless. He never thought once that it was harassment.

He loved playing hit and run. It wasn't so much as 'being a pussy' to him as it was 'being strategic'. He knew what he was up against, and adjusted for the confrontation accordingly. He ran up the next flight of stairs, giggling down at the bully that was already running out of breath. Daniel was full of energy still. "Mm...your sweat really brings out the meat in you." He gave the bully an amorous gaze, forcing himself to hide his laughter from the blush building in the bully's cheeks. "Shut up!" The bully sounded a little girly now. Perhaps Daniel was getting to him in the crotch? He felt like taking a risk now. Something about the way the bully looked told him the big brute was more frightened of him than he was angry. Was he really that afraid of homos?

Daniel approached the bully as he got to the top of the stairs, breathing heavily. He looked much too tired to start a fight. Daniel stood in front of him, grinning as he leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss, tongue and all. He then gave his groin a playful little grope. He squeezed gently before the bully pulled away. Others were looking at the two, most of them girls that were interested in the display. The bully's cheeks buffed as he rushed down the stairs. Daniel could hear him retching violently. Ooh, the fun he'd have with this one...he was excited already.

Daniel took an empty seat near the front of the class when he found his classroom. That's when he realized he didn't pick up his notebook. He got back up, face palming himself as he looked at the instructor. He shrugged to him as he headed out to get the notebook.

Thankfully, the bully wasn't there anymore, and the notebook was still lying on the ground! What luck, he thought. He hustled over to pick up the book, noticing a gold shimmer beneath the bush nearby the trashcan where he had the encounter. He curiously approached the unknown object, feeling under the bush. He pulled the book he found out from beneath the bushes. It looked like an interesting read. "Paws of Fire" was the title, intriguing the young man. He wanted to take it to the lost and found...but something in him told him to keep it. It was a strong feeling...it told him to keep it and never let it go. He would look at it after class. Good thing he only had one class today!

The professor had only just begun his lecture about classroom etiquette and all that same old' same old'. Seriously, why didn't he start the first day with actual material? These were college students, and they had enough common sense to know what is offensive and what is distracting.

The class was calculus I, a required class to become an engineer, which was his major of choice. He really wanted to be a zoologist, but he had such strength in math that he didn't want to go to waste. He could always love animals regardless of his major, so he felt this was the right decision.

He hadn't paid attention to anything the professor said, not even his name. He was staring at the book he found under the bush, just dying to open it up and start digging in to it. What could it be about, he wondered? A fantasy involving animals that had magic powers? A story of a wolf who tried to mingle with the lives of humans? He squirmed in his seat, desperate for the boring lecture to get over.

The torture finally ended, and Daniel was by far the first to leave the classroom. People stared at him as he ran so quickly out the building and toward his dorm, grinning goofily. He reached the parking lot, only to see the bully from earlier talking with a couple of his friends. Daniel met eyes with him, and the three of them rushed over to him. Daniel smirked as he looked at the three big boys, shaking his body as if he was scared. "Oh no! Help, help!" He said in an extra effort for a feminine tone. The tall Asian man grabbed Daniel by the neck of his overcoat, holding him upright. Daniel moaned out as if he was being turned on by the gesture. He could feel the other two bullies coming up behind him as they laughed. Daniel knew he was about to get the shit kicked out of him, but he wanted to be as slutty as possible to get them thinking tonight. After all...Daniel used to be a homophobe himself until he got to see boys in the buff acting all...lusty.

The big bully from before pulled on Daniel's hair, and the pain was soothing to him at first. "Ooh! Are y'all gonna rape me? Oh no, help!" He didn't call out loudly at all, just making sure the three of them could hear his fake cries as if they were roleplaying. Daniel rubbed his butt back against the big bully, grinning as he heard a slight grunt from him. Daniel felt so powerful when he felt the bully's pants harden. "Oh my! It's so big!" The big bully turned bright red again as he backed away, growling as the other two started laughing at him. "Enough!" the big bully said, laying his first blow to Daniel's jaw.

Daniel fell to the ground, hugging his book tightly as he tightened his body to help absorb some damage. The three bullies were kicking at his face, stomping his side, and stomping his fists. He whimpered under their might, wanting to beg them to stop the pain. The tall Asian held up his hand to stop the onslaught. He leaned down and spoke to Daniel in a serious tone. "The name's Hector, bud...and if I ever see you acting fruity again, you'll be dead." Hector kicked Daniel in the face once more before the three of them walked away, laughing at the look of Daniel's face.

Daniel stood up, bringing his book with him as he went inside his dorm to wash up his wounds. The pain stopped hurting shortly after the final kick to his stomach. He really learned how to take damage during high school, and he could heal pretty fast. He was washing his hands when he looked at the book, knowing what he'd do for the rest of the night. He picked up the book and headed over to his bed, laying there to relax as he would begin to read.

He opened the book and was looking around the middle of the novel at first. There were two blank pages. Daniel sighed, flipping through the book only to realize that every page was empty. "What kind of bull-shit is this." whined the disappointed boy. He grunted, blowing the bangs from his eye as he looked up at the ceiling, pondering what he'll do for the rest of the day. He idly pressed his hand up against the golden paw of a tiger on the front cover, feeling the accurate proportions to his own hand. The book began to shake. Daniel instinctively pulled his hand away from the paw imprint in shock, and then he saw the world around him glow white. The book disappeared, and he was forced upright by something unknown. Daniel panicked, looking around for some sort of explanation, but then he was thrown forward, closing his eyes as he felt himself tumbling through what felt like grass. As he came to a stop, he heard the sounds of birds singing and squirrels chattering. He shook his head, looking around at the new surroundings in awe. "What the..."

The world around him was beautiful. There wasn't a single building in sight. Mother Nature had spread her domain over the mountains in front of him. The seas behind him were a pure blue. The skies were clear with only a few clouds here and there. The air he breathed in gave him such energy...it was something pure. He felt like he was getting high off of life. He didn't care where he was now. He roamed the vast pasture, seeing squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, deer, and almost every other type of wild creature that normally hid from mankind. These creatures, however, weren't afraid of Daniel. The squirrels looked uneasy at first, but once Daniel knelt down and held out his hand slowly, the first squirrel came to investigate. He gently sniffed Daniel's hand, walking around him and sniffing everywhere for signs of hostility. Other animals began approaching Daniel now. They were all checking out the new creature, curious making them throw caution to the wind. Daniel didn't mean harm though, so these creatures were lucky with their decision. Daniel dared not reach out to try and pet any of these animals, for fear that they would take it as a sign of hostility. He simply laid down on his front, sprawling his body out as he was stepped on and examined by the light animals. This place was heaven right now.

He darted up quickly as he heard the singing birds around him simultaneously start flying off, and the animals checking him out darted away. He looked behind him, heart stopping in fear as he saw a white tiger stalking him. He crouched down, hoping the tiger would not see him...but it was futile. The creature was locked in on Daniel as he sprang to him with such might. Daniel let out a loud cry, "Please, don't hurt me!" The tiger's paws crashed into the ground on either side of Daniel. He peeked up, seeing the face of the tiger tilted to the side. It was rather cute, but he still feared for his life. He didn't move an inch more, not wanting to scare the beast.

The creature backed off some, pushing himself up on his hind legs before his body started to change. His bones cracked and twisted, flesh stretching and fur expanding. The tiger's eyes changed to look like the eyes of a human. The tiger had become a tall, muscly, handsome tiger...but it was as if the creature had the good physical traits of a human mixed with the good physical traits of a tiger. Even the creature's fur had become orange and black, oddly reminding Daniel of Tony the Tiger.

"You speak our language?" The tiger spoke in a masculine tone, but not a tone that was impossible to understand.

Daniel gazed up at the tiger, speechless and shocked. He was just in his dorm a little while ago...and then he was in this place...and then a tiger appeared out of nowhere...then the tiger transformed...then it talked in English...the amount of information was overwhelming for him, and he passed out.

Daniel was suddenly back in his bed with the book falling onto his chest. He winced as the corner of the hard-backed book pushed hard into his sternum. The book fell off of him and the bed, lying open on the front page. Daniel looked over the side of the bed to see that something was now written on the first page. He shut the book, throwing the book in the bin and ducking under his covers. What the hell just happened? What kind of curse did that book have? Whatever it was, he didn't want a part of it. The world around him was a skeptical one. He couldn't tell anybody about what happened without being considered insane.

Still...something about that tiger...something interested the boy. He got out real quick and headed over to his wardrobe. He found his zentai tiger suit he bought some time ago, and slipped it on. He loved how tiger-like he looked in this suit, nothing missing except for the muzzle. He opened up the crotch zipper, letting his human junk hang out as he crawled back into bed, rubbing his but back against what he pretended was that big tiger humanoid he saw. The warmth wasn't the blanket covering him now. The warmth was that big hunk holding him close and keeping him safe from the cold weather. He would sleep easy tonight thanks to his imagination.
