#47 of Pokemon - To Catch Them All

Leo reaches Fortree City and begins training at Route 120

After leaving the Weather Institute and making doubly sure that Team Rocket wasn't waiting for me to leave before they returned. I continued on to Fortree City by first crossing a bridge that overlooked a small unassuming pond. However, according to Rotom's database which had information compiled from many different sources. Many people had mentioned that an extremely rare Pokemon made this pond their home. It was very shy and very sought after by people who entered Beauty Contests. However that was when that Pokemon had evolved. The Pokemon that lived here was actually Feebas a rare Water Type and I aimed on catching it. After heading down to where the lake was I called out Swampert and asked him to ferry me across the lake where we began searching for the extremely rare Pokemon.

I knew there was a strong possibility I could be here for many hours, maybe even longer. Feebas were extremely rare and quite shy too. Not too mention some people were incredibly rude about Feebas. Some considered it to be extremely ugly and not worth their time. Others however, found that when raised properly you could get a Milotic and enter beauty contests and win them easily since Milotic was beautiful. I however, found that Feebas wasn't bad at all, Magikarp had some similarities to Feebas. Both struggled in battle but when they evolved they became a force to be reckoned with. They struck down those who mocked them and became loyal to those who believed in them from the very beginning.

Eventually after searching for what felt like forever, me and Swampert eventually came across a Feebas that looked rather interested in what a human was doing searching through the lake back and forth. "I need your help come out Barboach!" Barboach appeared and eagerly dived into the water swimming to Feebas. Feebas understood what was happening and for some reason he felt rather giddy. Feebas couldn't quite understand why he felt that way, but he just had a feeling that this human would bring out his true potential and treat him with love and respect even as a Feebas.

"Barboach Mud Bomb!" Barboach fired off a powerful Mud Bomb which scored a direct hit against Feebas. I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Feebas and watched as the ball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Feebas has been registered to your Pokedex. Feebas the Fish Pokemon a Water Type. It eats anything, so it can even live in polluted streams and lakes. No one pays attention to it." I disagreed to that entry and knew that Feebas was a very wonderful Pokemon who had such shining potential and I would work day and night and show everyone what that potential looked like. However, my determination for Feebas was cut short when Barboach began glowing signalling he was evolving already.

"Whiscash has been regsitered to your Pokedex. Whiscash the Whiskers Pokemon a Water and Ground Type. As a result of causing tremors by thrashing about, it developed the ability to foretell real quakes." I didn't know that Whiscash developed that ability based on how it itself caused quakes but that was a nice little bit of information I learned. I congratulated Whiscash on evolving and further healed up Feebas as well. After that was done, Swampert took me back to dry land and I thanked him returning him to his Pokeball before continuing onwards.

I was challenged by a Ninja Boy who leapt from some nearby trees and he sent out a Ninjask and I sent out my Altaria and had him use Aerial Ace defeating Ninjask. The next trainer was also a Ninja Boy who challenged me with two Koffing and I sent out my Gardevoir having him use Psychic defeating the two Koffing. The final opponent was a Fishermen who sent out two Carvanha and I sent out my Nuzlead to defeat them both. His final Pokemon was a Feebas and I substituted and had my Wailmer come out and use Body Slam managing to defeat Feebas.

After defeating those final couple of trainers I headed West and reached Fortree City a city in which the homes were in treehouses. It was a really beautiful place to live. The only problem with living in trees were that occasionally the owners had Bug Pokemon enter their homes through the open windows. I assumed it was a thing that the home owners just had to learn to deal with. I knew I could properly defeat the gym leader Winona who used Flying Types, but before I challenged her I wanted to make absolutely certain my Pokemon were in the best possible position to defeat Winona. Flying Types were weak to Rock, Ice and Electric Types, but I knew it wouldn't be as easy as just using type advantage to win. Norman did give me a good challenge even though I used Fighting Types against his Normal Types.

Still, I healed up my Pokemon at the Pokemon Centre and then headed into the Pokemart where I brought some more Pokeballs for catching new Pokemon. Also trainers struggling against Winona had reported that training on Route 120 was the best place to get stronger. I decided to go and do some training and furthermore catch some potential new Pokemon too. It was a win win situation for me. I headed East leaving Fortree City for the moment and reached Route 120. Before I could even begin exploring the route I was challenged by a Parasol Lady who sent out a Goldeen and I sent out my Plusle having him use Discharge defeating Goldeen. The second Pokemon sent out was a Seaking and I substituted for my Sceptile defeating it with a Leaf Blade.

Next a Bird Keeper challenged me with a Swablu and I sent out my Solrock defeating him with Rock Slide. Next was another Bird Keeper challenged me with a Swellow and I sent out my Lunatone having him use Rock Slide. The next Pokemon sent out was a Xatu and I substituted for my Mightyena having him use Crunch defeating Xatu. After that battle, I decided to have a look in the grass and see if I could find the Disaster Pokemon Absol. Now Absol had a unfortunate and unneeded reputation as being the disaster Pokemon. Even though Absol detected disasters and came down from the mountains to forewarn people that something is going to happen. Whether that be a earthquake, or perhaps a volcanic eruption. However, when Absol arrives to warn people, people associate Absol with causing the disaster. Yet Absol means no harm and just wants to protect people and Pokemon. Perhaps that's why Absol stayed away from people unless it sensed a disaster.

I felt really sad for this Pokemon since it was treated in such a poor way because of people's old habits. They haven't learned that Absol isn't the cause of those disasters. I kept exploring knowing that finding Absol wouldn't be easy since if I was right in my assessment Absol wouldn't want to find people. Simply because of what Absol have gone through for such a long time. As I was exploring I did come across several Pokemon and did train against them getting stronger and stronger with each and every battle. However, the rain soon returned and it wasn't your ordinary rain, no this was heavy and actually could be quite dangerous. If you stepped wrong you could slip and trip and potentially be in a bad situation that could only get worse.

Thankfully, I was careful and paid attention. While leaving the area, a Absol did approach me, likely to forewarn me of the rain being dangerous for a human such as myself. However, I told the Absol that I would be safe, as I had my Pokemon with me and they would keep me safe from Pokemon and natural disasters. Absol smiled lightly before he suddenly became battle ready. I didn't quite understand so Absol smiled once again, approaching me and gesturing for a battle. I began wondering, had Absol been observing me looking for an Absol and been testing my patience and my bond between my Pokemon. Perhaps Absol even sensed that I was trying to prove that Absol were not the cause of disasters.

As such I made the decision that this Absol, I would do my best to catch and show people that Absol were kind-hearted and went out of their way to protect both Pokemon and people. "Come out Mawile!" Mawile appeared gnashing his teeth showing how powerful he was to Absol. Meanwhile Absol carefully observed Mawile and could immediately see that Mawile just like every other Pokemon had been raised extremely well. "Mawile use Fairy Wind!" Mawile blew the wind right at Absol who dodged impressively. Landing right behind Mawile, who wasn't foolish, he knew Absol better than he thought he did.

"Mawile now use Crunch!" Mawile's second mouth extended faster than Absol expected and scored a direct hit, though it wasn't very effective. Absol was quick to retaliate using Night Slash to try and dislodge Mawile. Both Pokemon showed extreme resilience and really it all came down to who had the better stamina. Unfortunately for Absol, each and every one of my Pokemon had the stamina they needed and eventually Absol couldn't hold out any longer and collapsed smiling lightly at the trainer who'd defeated him. "Pokeball go!" I watched as the Pokeball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Absol has been registered to your Pokedex. Absol the Disaster Pokemon a Dark Type. It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger."

Even the Pokedex stated that Absol doesn't cause disasters, only the superstitions created by people in the past that people have yet to change. Now that I had caught Absol I believed I could now begin my training for the gym battle against Winona and this location seemed like a challenging place to train which the ever changing weather. But I'm sure I could count on Absol to forewarn me of any disasters. Sceptile had been incredible battling here, even against the Flying trainers we rematched his powers were now off the chart. His speed was too fast for most people to follow, let alone challenge. Blaziken had increased his agility and manoeuvrability and much like Sceptile when he battled against the trainers we had fought so many times before, his increased strength was clear as night and day. Swampert had grown so much that it was incredible to remember that he was a shy and nervous Mudkip. Now he was a immense Swampert who could ferry me across open waves without any trouble.

Mightyena had been doing well too, when not in battle, he used his keen senses to keep an eye out for enemies. With people like Team Rocket out causing trouble. Mightyena would do whatever was necessary to ensure his trainer was kept safe from harm. Linoone was still very playful and he enjoyed his battles. I enjoyed giving him brushes when he finished his battle and he loved those sessions the most. Beautifly and Dustox hadn't been battling as much and I was apologetic towards them for that however, they didn't mind. They were aware that the gyms coming up weren't well suited to Bug Types and as such they were just happy being with their beloved trainer. I had been continually searching and listening out for Leaf Stones for Nuzleaf and Lombre but wasn't having the best off luck. However they were both patient and would not hurry me along.

Swellow, had been enjoying battles against his fellow types, it allowed him to show other species that he was by far the most superior Swellow there was. That none could ever hope to best him in battle. Swellow attributed that entirely to his beloved trainer and was immensely happy that he even had the chance to travel with such a great trainer. Pelipper was in the same situation as Swellow, as he had been battling in aerial battles lately and had been enjoying showing that he was exceptional and he too attributed that to his beloved trainer. I had also learned that Dawn Stones must be exceedingly rare as nobody around had even found any and I was beginning to think I may not even find one until I began exploring the Sinnoh Region. Though I hoped that was a last resort as I knew Kirlia was eagerly anticipating becoming a Gallade and being my bodyguard, the knight to a princess if you will.

Gardevoir helped Kirlia increase his psychic abilities thanks to his newfound knowledge in his final evolved form. Gardevoir also loved that he could also sense his trainers feelings better than ever before. He loved knowing what his trainer was feeling, what he was thinking and it just helped him understand even more about his trainer. Masquerain had been quiet as off late, simply because of the same reason as Beautifly and Dustox, that the location wasn't helpful for Bug Types. However, against the wild Pokemon he had been performing with such power and speed that he was almost on par with Swellow and Pelipper. Breloom had been sparring with my other Fighting Types and I couldn't wait to introduce him to Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop. Something told me in the future, they would all form a fighting dojo and continually train and hone their skills together. With me though, Breloom kept me safe, anyone or thing that approached while Breloom was out and about was judged in the most serious of ways. Breloom wouldn't allow anyone to harm his beloved trainer.

Slaking even though he was considered lazy I could see plain as day that he didn't want to present himself as a lazy Pokemon under his trainers ownership. Slaking knew that his trainer had poured in such extreme effort to raise him from a Slakoth. He remembered the feelings he felt when he was a Vigoroth and how happy he was he could keep pace with his trainer. He wanted to continually improve to make his trainer proud to have raised him. Even though I was already very proud to own such a powerful Slaking. Ninjask and Shedinja were two Pokemon who ever since they evolved had interacted well with one another. Ninjask was much to speedy for Shedinja though, so where Ninjask shined with speed. Shedinja liked to show how durable he was when in the right battle. Sometimes Shedinja really surprised me with his ability to be immune to so many types.

Loudred had been wanting to increase his power but at the same time he didn't want to hurt his trainer. He understood that the shockwaves he produced from his mouth were so powerful that they could and have shattered boulders when he has been training. As of late however, Loudred had been getting stronger and stronger that a light attack was now powerful enough to shatter boulders. This signalled to me he was soon to evolve and with a few more battles under his best he did begin evolving. "Exploud has been registered to your Pokedex. Exploud the Loud Noise Pokemon a Normal Type. Its howls can be heard over six miles away. It emits all sorts of noise from the ports on its body."

Exploud couldn't help himself as soon as he had finished looking over his new body he enraptured me in a powerful hug with his new strength. I happily congratulated him and encouraged him to keep doing his best and not be concerned about how powerful his voice was and that I could take it. Exploud looked at me with eyes that showed he didn't believe me, but he also showed love and affection in those eyes that made him tear up slightly. Though as soon as I noticed he quickly cleared his eyes and smirked confidently, thumbing his chest with manly power. I smiled happy he had grown so powerful and that he even understood the limits of his own strength.

Hariyama had been training together with Slaking whenever he got the opportunity to do so. That was based on how powerful Norman's Slaking was. My Slaking got stronger thanks to Hariyama's teachings. Nosepass knew he wouldn't be evolving soon, his trainer had informed him he could only evolve into a Probopass if he was trained in a specific environment. As such, Nosepass did have concerns he would fall behind the others but I reassured him that I would continue training with him for the foreseeable future. Delcatty had two personalities, in battle, Delcatty loved to show his strength and his dazzling appearance. Outside of battle, Delcatty loved to be brushed and cleaned consistently.

Sableye still tried to sneak around and scare me whenever he got the opportunity. However, I did tell him I had experience with several Ghost and Dark Types that I'd evolved a sort of sixth sense for sensing the presence of these trickster Pokemon. Sableye wasn't one for giving up and in that instance he was much like Gengar. I knew they would get along too well when I returned to Kanto. Mawile's personality was sometimes difficult to identify, at one moment, Mawile could be battle ready and at the other moment Mawile enjoyed some alone time with his beloved trainer.

Lairon was aggressive when in battles, much like his Pokedex entry stated and I knew that battle hungriness would be increased when he evolved into an Aggron. I'd seen Aggron used by trainers and knew that they were exceptional battlers. They were capable of tearing down mountains while searching for iron ore. They were not too be trifled with. Though Lairon did sometimes dislike how aggressive he became in his battles. Manectric was nowhere near as aggressive. Well, under certain conditions, involving absorbing too much electricity he could become rather temperamental. However, even under those circumstances, Manectric still calmed down at hearing his trainers voice. It meant we shared an extremely strong bond with each other.

Plusle and Minun, the cute cheerleading Pokemon, when I got the opportunity to battle trainers in double battles. I always tried to use both of them at the same time. They really liked battling together and showing me just what they could do. Volbeat and Illumise were almost the same as Plusle and Minun. Though there was a key difference. Volbeat desired Illumise, thanks to the pheromones that Illumise consistently gave off. It was natural and I didn't give it a second thought. Illumise however, wanted to focus on improving herself, for me. Meanwhile Volbeat gave it his all in battles to show Illumise he was worthy off her. When that usually failed, Volbeat tried to use that to show me he was a capable battler. I always sighed in amusement watching how determined Volbeat was to attract Illumise's attention.

Roselia had actually been enjoying helping me collect and replant berries that I found while travelling throughout Hoenn and something told me that when I returned to Kanto and di some important renovations to the garden. Roselia would absolutely be my assistant when I did a certain job. Swalot had been entirely devoted towards me for the simple reason that I still loved and appreciated him even though he was a Poison Type. I guess I could see a resemblance with him and Muk and Weezing too.

Training with Sharpedo was lots of fun surprisingly. Sharpedo would ferry me across the oceans as we trained against trainers and wild Pokemon. With each victory, Sharpedo would do a celebratory lap around the area showing impressive speed. Wailmer was slower compared to Sharpedo but even more playful. Wailmer would occasionally spray me with water whenever he thought I wasn't paying attention. I in return would splash him making him laugh. Wailord had even been improving too the point where he began evolving.

"Wailord has been registered to your Pokedex. Wailord the Float Whale Pokemon a Water Type. It's the biggest of all Pokemon. It can dive to a depth of almost 10,000 feet on only one breath." Wailord was also the reason that I knew I needed to do some enlargements of the large lake we had at home. Making it deeper and larger would be a challenged but with the help of my Pokemon the task would be easy to accomplish. Wailord seemed to understand that his increased size may cause me problems and seemed saddened by that however, I reassured him everything would turn out fine.

Camerupt was improving slowly but surely, his fire had been increasing every day. Occasionally, when the weather was sunny and clear he would have me ride on him. He was much like my other rideable Pokemon who wanted me to ride on them whenever I needed help. I was wary at first about the potential eruptions from Camerupt's humps but he always kept me safe. Torkoal was very confident in his battle abilities. A trainer with a Skarmory challenged us but Torkoal overwhelmed Skarmory with a immense Flamethrower defeating Skarmory. Grumpig loved bouncing along with me as we traversed through the routes. Instead of walking, bouncing was more convenient and seemed more fun too. It was good that he was enjoying himself.

Grumpig was a very kind hearted and patient Pokemon and a very dependable one too. He got along extensively with his fellow Psychic Types. They all worked together to increase their psychic abilities and become stronger for their beloved trainer. Spinda was happy to have a trainer who showed him respect. Before he had been caught he had seen and experienced trainers who laughed and disrespected his species simply because of their appearance and the way they moved. Having a trainer who was kind and respectful encouraged Spinda to do his best to repay his master for his generosity.

Vibrava hadn't had as many battles as of late so I apologised even though Vibrava understood why and didn't mind at all. Vibrava though had been getting stronger thanks to our training sessions. Though he still had a ways to go before he could reach the final form of Flygon now that would be awesome to see. Cacturne had been so helpful when I had been exploring the desert and my way of repaying him for everything he had done was to train him extensively. Cacturne may have appeared to other trainers and their Pokemon as a brute or perhaps a scary Pokemon. However, I saw that Cacturne was very kind, helpful and determined to help me.

Altaria, when not battling, preferred to rest upon my head draping his wings over my shoulders and acting as a scarf. As previously mentioned though the climate in Hoenn wasn't really the best for such clothing. Still I appreciated Altaria's kindness and enjoyed his company. I was making some progress with Zangoose and Seviper. Trying to erode a barrier of hatred between the two species would likely be impossible. But, I had been making some slow steady progress. The two no longer fought one another since they didn't want to disappoint their beloved master who raised them both with such kindness.

Lunatone and Solrock were much the same Pokemon and didn't have the troubles that Zangoose and Seviper had. They actually got along very well and I enjoyed putting them both together against opponents in double battles. They each had each others backs and trusted me just as much as they trusted one another. Whiscash, was a very patient Pokemon which surprised me as most of my Pokemon seemed to be battle ready nearly all the time. Save for some of the more experienced Pokemon that was. It allowed Whiscash to take battles in his stride and not become complacent.

Crawdaunt was pretty much the opposite of Whiscash, he was battle hungry whenever he came out of the Pokeball. However, when not battling, I saw a surprisingly gentle side of Cradaunt who enjoyed giving me rides across the ocean to demonstrate his abilities and strength too. He would never show this side to any other Pokemon especially Sceptile who he considered his ultimate rival. Claydol, was a quiet Pokemon who preferred his own company but got along better with the Psychic Types but he did enjoy my company too.

Next were the restored Hoenn fossil Pokemon being Lileep and Anorith who had almost completely changed personality wise. They had gained extreme confidence and it was a surprising change of face. But one that I felt wasn't a bad one. Though seeing them no longer cuddle up to me whenever something scared them was somewhat of a blow. However, what had surprised me more, was the two fossil Pokemon evolving together after their training session. "Cradily has been registered to your Pokedex. "Cradily the Barnacle Pokemon a Rock and Grass Type. Once Cradily catches prey in its tentacles, it digests them whole and absorbs their nutrients." Cradily quickly glanced over its unfamiliar body before embracing me with his tentacles and for a moment I did believe he was planning on digesting me. However, it was only Cradily's way of showing his affection for me with his new body.

Cradily wasn't allowed to hold on to me forever, according to the newly evolved Anorith who became Armaldo. "Armaldo has been registered to your Pokedex. Armaldo the Plate Pokemon a Rock and Bug Type. Though it lives on land, its also a good swimmer. It dives into the ocean in search of prey, using its sharp claws to take down its quarry." Armaldo gently snatched me out of Cradily's grip and grabbed me in a surprisingly powerful hug. Eventually he released me and lowered me to the ground where Cradily was waiting.

I happily congratulated them both on evolving and growing up by petting them both on the head much to their pleasure. Feebas was next and I found that Feebas was grateful towards me even catching him but he wanted to prove himself worthy of being my Pokemon. I knew that he wanted to evolve, he had specified that by eagerly seeing Milotic on my Rotom Phone. There were two possible ways to evolve a Milotic and I unfortunately didn't have a Prism Scale to evolve him. The other option was to raise Feebas' beauty with Pokeblocks

That's when I remembered that I actually had a Pokeblock case that Lisia had given to me a while ago. While I wasn't planning on entering contests this Pokeblock case would allow me to create the perfect Pokeblocks that could increase Feebas' beauty. Already I knew that Feebas was a rather beautiful Pokemon based on inner beauty even if most trainers believed that Feebas were ugly. After doing some research thanks to Rotom I eventually managed to create Pokeblocks that would enhance a Pokemon's beauty.

After feeding Feebas the Pokeblocks, which he absolutely loved by the way. Feebas decided to go on a quick training session against the wild Pokemon in the lake and eventually managed to gain enough experience in order to evolve into a Milotic. "Milotic has been registered to your Pokedex. Milotic the Tender Pokemon a Water Type. It is the worlds most beautiful Pokemon. There are many works of art featuring Milotic."

Before I could even congratulate Milotic on evolving, Milotic wrapped his slender body around me and rubbed his face softly with mine. Much like, Arbok and Seviper had done before. His hug was even more powerful than theirs too. Eventually Milotic realised that in his exuberance to thank his beloved trainer he was actually depriving him of oxygen and immediately released me. I petted Milotic's soft slender body and admired his beauty too.

Castform had been new as well and it was a interesting and unique Pokemon. Castform was really helpful in predicting the weather with his weather abilities. It also was a very difficult Pokemon to fight against as I had taught Castform many different weather creating moves and moves that got stronger thanks to those conditions. Castform may not have bonded with me completely but we were making a good start on forming an indestructible bond.

Kecleon was surprisingly mischievous and shy all in one bag. In one moment, Kecleon would be invisible, blending in with his surroundings and would jump out in an attempt to scare me. Though they never were successful thanks to me gaining a sort of sense towards Gengar, MIsmagius and several other Pokemon who tried to scare me whenever they could. Kecleon also was using his invisibility to stay away from other people whenever they got too close.

Tropius was a bag of all traits, in battles he was surprisingly resilient and capable. For a Pokemon of his size he moved surprisingly fast. Tropius was also rather generous and whenever he wanted he would give me the fruit that grew on his neck. He seemed to trust me as a great friend and reliable partner in and out of battle. Finally there was Absol and was pleasantly surprised when I learned that Absol liked to accompany me outside of his Pokeball as we trained together. I had wondered whether it was so he could detect any natural disasters and protect me as soon as possible. Or perhaps, he was trying to understand my personality either way I enjoyed his company too.

After all the training I felt prepared for a gym battle against Winona and decided to return to Fortree City where I would do some last minute decision making on who would accompany me in the battle.
