The Sun, the sole star in the Sol solar system and the life force for the planet known as "Earth", had begun to exude some strange activity to the scientists at the Mauna Kea Observatory in Hawaii. Vast amounts of observational data poured out of machines. The scores of computers designed to crunch the numbers and data began to fail as their sextuplet cores overheated. The scientists and researchers at the observatory were certain of only one thing: Whatever the Sun was about to do, it would rival that of the extinction of the dinosaurs. Little did they know that the Sun had already unveiled its secret: a huge solar flare barreling toward the Earth at the speed of light. It is Saturday, May 22, 2010, 11:00 pm.
