#9 of Night's Journey

Mewtwo's Isle > 9

Mewtwo was the barest breath away from touching Night's pendant when some type of internal warning screamed for him not to touch it, just as a small burst of energy shot from the human, and encompassed the pendant. Mewtwo pulled back his hand and raised the shielded and glimmering object with his mind. While his struggle with Night's monstrous energy had all but exhausted him, Mewtwo was still more than able to use his abilities. Examining the pendant, Mewtwo found that it wasn't actually here. Well, not on the physical plain at least. Mewtwo's mind whirled at the impossibility of what he was "holding". Within the gentle hold of his mind, was a pendant of almost unimagineable power, yet not. The pendant was both there, and not there. Moving upwards in the metaphysical realms, Mewtwo looked at the pendant again from the mental plain. Tiny, almost impossible to see threads spun out from the pendant. Some disappeared through time, A few, stayed in place, linked to the human trainer and his pokemon Sapphire. Viewing the pendant from the mental plain allowed Mewtwo to understand the thing a lot more. Before it was just an impossible thing. Now, now it was something he might be able to duplicate. Though exactly how he'd find the energy for it he wasn't too sure.

Elyan moved within Night, touching here and there, soothing aggression and fear. Walling off the outside world she made a space for her and her son to talk. Within the little room that she had created, she gave the walls a soft pink/purple colouring. It wasn't a colour normally seen, but this was something Night had once professed to her, in a way. She had once asked him what his favourite colour was, and instead of telling her, he thought it. In the absolute middle of the room, she added a small, circular, glimmering pool. The inside of the three foot long pool looked like it was carved from a single gigantic sapphire. Giving a thought to the floor and ceiling, Elyan made the floor a soft blue carpet made entirely of Thyme. The ceiling, she made look like the roof of the cave she shared with Mewtwo. Giving the room a cursory glance, she added the last and most important part. Night's form slowly faded into view opposite Elyan and the pool. Elyan's heart gave a lurch as she saw Night's mental form had his wings, while his physical body didn't. As Night formed upon the bed of thyme, appearing as though he were sleeping, his arms stretched out before him as his back and wings rose slowly with each breath, Elyan couldn't help thinking how even now, he looked as cute as the day he had been born.

Elyan waited untill Night stirred of his own accord, because here, time meant nothing. Elyan watched Night like a Dragonite with her hatchling. Soft eyes noted how much he'd grown while they had been seperated from each other. His soft black wings were alot larger than they were when he was a child. Elyan's eyes moved down from his wings, following the line of his spine. Her vision came to rest upon Night's cute little ass. Elyan smiled at the memmory of all the diapers she'd had to remove and put back on him. Her lips twitched upwards in the form of a smile. She remembered the first time his father had tried to change him. Night had flown about the room, completely naked and leaving a trail of fecal matter and urine all over the walls and floor. Elyan sighed mentally. Night hadn't been able to sit for a week after that. Not only had his father spanked him badly, but he had gotten a stern talking to from her. He'd been all of seven months, yet she had felt he would understand her by responding to the images she sent him. His good behaviour had corresponded with her happiness, while his bad behaviour had gotten negative responses and emotions from her.

Elyan, wrapped within her memmories, failed to notice Night opening his eyes. She only noticed he was awake when he subtly moved his wings along his naked form to cover it from her sight. But not even that could make her love for him fade the slightest bit, nor the fond memmories of his first few years dim.

"Good morning Night. Are you okay? I didn't expect you to drop every single shield you had up, just the ones keeping me from you." A soft note of worry tinged Elyan's wonderful voice. Her lips moved, conveying her emotion even while her body remained stationary. Night blinked soft, drowning blue eyes. "Night?" Elyan moved closer to him, carefully treading around the pool and helping him to sit up upon the blue thyme. A touch of fear made Elyan's heart beat a little faster. Night's eyes hadn't yet any intelligence. It was almost like his mind had been snuffed out. Surely that was impossible, because they were in his mind. Elyan knelt down and looked into Night's eyes. Her own orbs reflected her worry that she had possibly done something to her only son. After a few moments of staring, vibrancy filled Night's eyes. Intelligence, love, horror, confusion. All of them flitted through, his eyes going a soft teal colour before turning pink then gray then purple. "Night..?" Elyan asked again, her voice barely a whisper.

Night slowly turned away from Elyan. His thoughts were a jumble of pieces. There was a glade, then a hospital. Night stopped, then analysed the memmory. No, before that, something had happened. He had stepped into a clearing....

Night watched, as though from outside of his own body. He and Sapphire were at that clearing again. Sapphire had been acting funny.. Night watched as Sapphire pushed him into the glade. Into the glade where another guy was.... doing things to his red Vaporeon. Night watched as his past self's eyes turned red, and he backed away from the clearing. Night remembered thinking that if the guy saw his eyes as they were, he'd be in trouble. The memmory skipped, blacked out, then fuzzed back into existance. Night's eyes went yellow in shock as a Mightyena leaped on, then through him. His scream rang out from behind him, followed by the snarling of the Mightyena and some tearing sounds. Turning around, Night flared his wings for stability before he fell down into the dry sticks of the forest floor. Night stared at the horrendous sight from his position. His back twinged as sharp teeth tore through flesh easily. Then frowned as the Mightyena yelped and jumped backwards. He watched dark blood freely pumping out of a wide slice in it's chest. Judging by it's colour, it was heart blood. The Mightyena keeled over, and Night's suspicion was confirmed. Looking at his own back, he was unsure how his wings were still attached.

Something slapped accross his face.

"NIGHT!" Night blinked, looking at Elyan confusedly, rubbing the left side of his face as well. Elyan draped herself over Night. The small red lump situated just under and between her breasts pressed against Night's right arm and shoulder. Both of them twitched at the contact. Night became slightly energised and Elyan gained a new temporary ability. An Empathic ability. Night's empathic abilities transferred to Elyan. Elyan got a real treat then. She was given a complete insight into Night's current feelings. While shielding Night from the outside world had been easy, This was like giving her the key to every single wild emotion Night was suffering with. As it was, Elyan was lucky. Night wasn't wrestling with an emotion, except his confusion. There were several pieces of his memmory missing. Some of the gaps were filled in by what he had just revisited, but still..

Elyan, her slight frame still resting against Night, prodded him gently. Night's purple eyes looked into her own.

"Night, we need to talk. Right now, we have all the time in the world to talk to each other. You're going to have lots of questions, either now or eventually." Night frowned, watching Elyan's lips move with each spoken word. Now he was thoroughly confused. Elyan was a psychic type, so why was she bothering to speak verbally? Elyan answered the question for him. "Right now, I'm actually speaking to you because I can't use telepathy. This is your mind, I'm simply a visitor here. That's why we have all the time in the world to talk." Elyan gently hugged Night to her, her white gloved hands pulling him into a tighter, more physical hugg.

Night struggled against the hugg, pushing Elyan away and stretching his wings wide. Elyan allowed him to do so, knowing that she had no real power here, but she was surprised however to feel embarrassed. Elyan was confused herself before seeing Night's ruby eyes. Even as he backed away from her, Night's normal strength and personality were returning. So, as he had stood up to move away from her, he had noticed his condition and wrapped his wings about himself again. Even struggling with Night's embarrassement, Elyan had to admit to herself that her son had a very, very nice package. A soft pink blush tinged Elyan's soft white cheeks as her own mind conjured an erotic image involving her son, Mewtwo, and herself.

"You're Elyan." The words were spoken as a statement, but it still sounded like a half asked question. Elyan couldn't quite meet Night's eyes as her vivid Imagination slowly moved Mewtwo out of the erotic fantasy, leaving her and her son to....

Elyan shook her head sharply to rid herself of the disturbing, yet arousing imagery. She nodded, giving voice to the answer as well. "Yes, I am." Elyan looked up into Night's now teal eyes. "How much do you remember about me Night?" Elyan wanted to ask a very important question, and to also blurt out the truth, but Mewtwo's words gave her a sense of caution. Humans can be as stubborn as a mountain..

Night gave a small smile, his eyes tinging with red. He raised an arm through his feathers and scratched the back of his head. "Not much really. I was very young when I last saw you. The only thing I clearly remember is us in my room, then you disappearing from my life entirely." Night didn't mean it the way it sounded but even so, Elyan was deeply hurt by those words.

Elyan's eyes glittered with the beginnings of tears. One white gloved hand raised itself to her mouth, covering it with slender white fingers as her eyes grew larger. "I'm so sorry Night. But I had to leave, I had to. Your father was getting more and more paranoid, and the more contact I had with you, the more he suspected. If I hadn't have left you, you would either be dead, or be being studied like some lab rat." Elyan's eyes overflowed. Years of personal torment came out in a gush as the usually emotionless facade fell. Night stepped forward and sat infront of her. His soft, caring blue eyes reflected her sadness. "Let me explain everything." Night reached out a hand to her. Elyan took his right hand within her left, gripping his strong, yet slender fingers. She heaved a sigh, thinking about where to start. Well, nothing else to do than start from the beginning, right? Elyan took one more deep breath, before looking Night in the eyes and saying her secret. "Night, I'm your mother." Elyan was transfixed by the sight of Night's eyes flushing bright yellow, before slowly darkening to brown. His denial and anger were plainly written upon his face. He tugged his hand sharply from her grip, standing and turning his back to her.

"My Mother," Whispered Night, his voice husky with his anger, "Was Julia Hawk, wife of Dimitri Hawk. Both of my parents died when they were burned alive by the towns people below us. Out of everyone within my father's mansion, only I escaped. And only then because I was both gifted and cursed with these wings." Night raised his right hand to his right wing's tip, before letting it fall to his side again, fingers curling into a fist. "I was adopted by Trevor and Darcie Runae. Even though I was different, they treated me like their own child." Elyan tried to put up some shielding between her and her son's emotional waves, failing and staggering as a particularly strong mix of rage and sorrow hit her mind and heart. Deep dark cracks appeared and split along the pink/purple walls of the room. "I lived in hiding among normal humans. I hid my wings under cloaks when I could. I refrained from using my abilities, lest I unleash terror and horror upon my new family, or the people in the town. I withstood years of bullying. Years of heartbreak." Night's emotions pressed against Elyan, a rising tide that she had no protection against. The tide slowed and stopped, moments away from drowning her completely.

"Then I found and rescued Sapphire." The amount of hidden love leeched the previous emotions that had slowly been drowning Elyan. "I found another that was different, and persecuted for the exact same reason I was. He was different from others, and so was picked on. I used my abilities for the first time in several years. What resulted was our bond and a pendant." Night turned around, facing Elyan with deep pink and orange flecked eyes. His eyes rapidly swirled to a deeply concerned Hazel colour. Night immediately knelt before Elyan, his face showing his obvious concern for her well being as he watched her struggle against some invisible force. Now that he was focused upon someone other than himself, Night noticed the huge cracks lining the pink/purple walls. "Elyan, I'm sorry, what can I do to help you?"

Elyan continued to struggle, using what little power she had left to strengthen her weakening mental shields. She reached out one slender arm to her son, fearing that she had done something insanely stupid in entering a much stronger mind than her own with such weak shields. Night's soft hand cupped her own, his eyes bleeding slowly to grey.

Night knew this wasn't real, yet at the same time, he knew it was. He didn't want this to happen. Surely Elyan had simply been mistaken in proclaiming him her son. Emotions ran rampant through Night, having a completely undesirable effect upon Elyan. She opened her mouth in a silent scream, and Night felt her slipping away.

"No.." It came out as a whisper, barely a sound at all. "No," He repeated, stronger and with more emphasis behind the word. Night reached both inside, and outside of himself. He watched as outside of himself, a white and purple pokemon was reaching for his pendant, while inside himself, Elyan was dieing.

"STOP!" Night roared, filling the word with power and emotion. Night ripped away the oldest shield he had. The chains that bound most of his powers away from him. They shattered as his overwhelming need to prevent loss of life acted as a solvent. At first, it appeared that nothing had happenned, but then, Elyan wasn't in pain anymore. Night picked her up and hugged her to him, trusting in the pulsing energy that was now slowly suffusing his very being. A bright blue spark jumped between them, causing the fading red lumps to Elyan's front and back to glimmer with new strength. Night had a passing thought that he'd forgotten something. Another blue spark shot from him, but this time it launched itself into the pool in the middle of the room. Sparks splintered accross the surface of the still pool, surrounding the initial spark that landed dead centre. The pool underwent a metamorphosis, instantly freezing even though it looked like the spark was as hot as lightning. The glowing blue cracks that were now the spark, slowly sank from view. The pool, still frozen, turned dark, then light as the outside world was shown in it's depths. Night watched, holding Elyan to him and feeling her spark of life slowly growing, as the white and purple pokemon from before was shown in the depths. Knowing what happenned to Sapphire when he touched the pendant, he was extremely worried about what would happen to a pokemon that wasn't a fire type.

Night felt more than saw the glint of blue that surrounded the pendant. It was like a slightly tinted bubble, keeping the pendant off of his skin, while stopping the pokemon from touching it. Night gave a soft giggle. The energy that had been locked away for so long was effecting him, positive energy welled up and oozed from him. Night gave yet another giggle. Some part of him said that this wasn't him, that he should replace the chains and seals, but the other part said it was going to play. Feelings Night had locked away long ago resurfaced inside of him. Love, affection, a need for physical contact. They had been subdued and locked away along with the rest of his power, simply because they hurt him too much. Night felt Elyan stir, and carefully helped her stand.

Elyan noticed the change immediately. Wavering slightly upon her feet, she placed a white gloved hand to his cheek, feeling the wetness of tears. He was warm, Oh so warm. Elyan rested against Night, feeling the strength within him. A gentle touch, made subconsiously, and Night's energy restored her own. A warm, wavering heat slowly filled Elyan. The mental stress of what she had just gone through was slowly dissolved within Night's warmth. Elyan sighed, gently rubbing her face into Night's chest and shoulder. She could just about see the love that was flowing out of him. Soft pink tendrils that curled around him, wavering from their soft circular paths to bathe her in their warmth. She had to stop herself and think through the warmth though. She reminded herself that she had to talk to Night, get him to understand, ask questions of her. A gentle push, and she moved away from him, wobbling. She felt so giddy, almost drugged upon the power Night had just used to heal her. Elyan blinked, watching the walls as they shifted, melting, changing to an intangible pink something. Elyan fully realised that staying had been a mistake. She loved him too much to be able to do this. That, and the amount of power he had shown was nothing compared to what he was doing now. An eyeblink, and Elyan streaked out from Night's mind as a white/green light.

Outside of Night's mind, Elyan stirred within her own body. Her chest rose, then halted as the recent events caught up with her transfer. As soon as her eyes opened and she saw her son lying back upon the ground, asleep, she thought about maybe trying again. She thought about trying again to tell him about everything, his abilities, his life, his heritage, and quite probably, his future troubles. Elyan blinked, seeing Mewtwo crouching by her son. He was looking at the orange pendant hanging from Night's neck.

*Mewtwo.* Mewtwo turned his gaze to her and Elyan could see already that his massive intelligence was wrestling with a large problem. Mewtwo always smiled when he found a difficult mental problem that wasn't readily solvable. She thought to leave him be. She had just fled from her own son's mind because she couldn't tell him, make him see, that she was his mother, and that everything was her fault for falling in love with Dimitri. Taking a breath and reorganizing her mind, Elyan tried to think of a different way to tell Night.

Night stood within the pink walled room of his own mind. He felt within himself the growing power that he had chained away from himself, and the few emotions he had to do without in order to survive. He wondered if maybe he should lock them away again, in order to protect himself again. Finally he just shook his head. He was an adult now. If he couldn't deal with his power in a positive and helpful manner, then he seriously needed to rethink his life, and his life style. He sighed, trying to deal with what he had just done, and what he had almost done. Night's hazel eyes blinked a few times. He had almost killed Elyan with emotion. That in itself was just too strange to be true, but it had happened anyway. Night thought about where his power was stored and suddenly found himself infront of a huge open vault door. Power flew from the open door like water in a raging stream. He could see small marks upon the door that had once been heavy chains that kept the door shut. Night got it into his head to close the door. Not lock it away, but just lock it down for now and deal with it later. He put a metaphysical hand upon the door and swung it shut. It slammed closed and Night suddenly found himself on his knees, all that power that had been filling him up inside suddenly vanishing as he closed the respective lid upon it.

Night wavered sightly within his own mind, darkness washing everything away. A small multi coloured pin point appeared at the right of him, slowly growing larger. Night looked over at it and the multi coloured brilliance burst apart, flooding accross his vision.

Night woke up. He blinked up at the blue, blue sky overhead. Pidgey calls came to his ear, and he turned to them. To his right, sitting in a branch above him, two Pidgey's were chirping away. He blinked at them, feeling that somehow, something was missing. He rubbed absent mindedly as his chest grew warm. Then he started moving a small object attached to his neck around as the skin underneath it heated. Finally he grasped the thing, ready to throw it away before blue flames danced accross his vision.

"Sapphire!" He turned, looking around fearfully. He found the green skinned Charmander a few metres from him, his chest rising very slowly and falling quickly. Night rolled to his front, got on his feet, and ran the short distance to Sapphire where he knelt by his right side. Night put out his right hand, gently resting it upon Sapphire's head. He felt cool, and that worried him. Charmanders were supposed to be hot blooded with a base temperature well over seventy degrees centigrade. Night looked for Sapphire's tail tip, and saw that it was barely lit, as though any moment from now the flame could be snuffed out. Night wracked his brain for a solution. There had to be something he could do. He knew for a fact something was wrong, because Sapphire was barely breathing for one. The second thing was that he didn't have a nice healthy tail blaze. Night grabbed the tip of Sapphire's tail with his left hand. The pleasurable feeling was there, but it was minute, like a small pin prick that felt like heaven. Night brought the tail tip to his chest, over his heart. "Sapphire, please. You gotta wake up. I want my healthy little Poke back up and running in tip top condition." Night blinked, hugging the tail to him as Sapphire's left leg gave a twitch. The heat on his chest increased and Night found himself sweating slightly, unaware of a twig smoking and crisping to blackness by his left foot. Night's eyes had switched to drowning blue again, grey slowly starting to creep into his iris. "C'mon Sapphire, wake up for me." The warmth on his chest started to burn, but Night kept his full attention upon Sapphire, willing him to wake up. Night put his right hand upon Sapphire's chest, above his heart, and squeezed Sapphire's tail tip. The burning sensation stopped, replaced by a cool trickling sensation.

A soft warm nose poked him in the side. He blinked and looked to his left. A red Vaporeon looked back at him.

"YAAAGH!" Night dropped Sapphire's tail and rolled to his right, away from the Vaporeon. Amethyst looked at him, as if asking 'Do I stink or something?' Elyan's white glove touched Night's shoulder. Night looked up into her eyes now that she had his attention.

*Do you know that you've been holding that Charmander for over an hour?* Night shook his head dazedly. He grabbed Elyan's hand with his own as his vision started to swim. He slid slowly to his left, his left hand out, searching without his realising it, untill his hand contacted with Sapphire's skin. Night's vision cleared immediately. Night knew without fully understanding, that he had to do something for Sapphire. Night put his hand back over Sapphire's heart, then unlocked the vault that stored his full power. Being very carefull, Night allowed it to flow down his right arm and into Sapphire's chest. Night felt Sapphire's tail blaze with heat. He waited just a moment longer for Sapphire's eyes to open before he slammed the door shut upon his power, cutting it off at the source.

The first thing Sapphire did when he woke up, was blink at the white fluffy cloud thing high in the great blue sky. The second thing he did was remember that damn Kirlia that had just about killed him and Night. "If I ever find that damned female I'm going to flame her ass untill it's roasted!"

Night gave a gasp at this. "Why can't you just be glad that you're finally awake?"

Elyan, Amethyst, Sapphire, and a few un-named pokemon stared at Night. "What did you just say?" Questioned Sapphire, hope and fear warring within him.

Night frowned at Sapphire, as though this were a stupid question. "I asked why you couldn't be glad that you're awake. Forget the Kirlia, she's lucky I didn't kill her for trying to hurt you." Night's eyes darkened to brown as his anger took hold, before they softened to orange with just the slightest tinge of pink. "I'm glad you're alive Sapphire, I don't think I'd be able to handle your dissappearing from my life suddenly." Night moved, and hugged Sapphire to him, sitting the small Poke' upon his lap. Night watched as Sapphire's small tail flame grew in colour and brightness as he hugged Sapphire. Night kissed the top of Sapphire's head. "I'm so glad I didn't lose you."

Sapphire shifted in his seat. He was exceptionally happy that Night was so huggable with him, but the fact he could understand what he was saying without a translator troubled him. That and what had previously happenned, but since Night was now closer to him than ever before, he was willing to forgive the female. Well, maybe after he bit her. Sapphire grinned, showing small pointy teeth. "Night, do you understand what I'm saying to you right now?"

Night nodded ontop of Sapphire's head, sending the sensation through his skull. "I do now, and I hope I can keep understanding you outside of this place."

Sapphire turned to Amethyst, who was glaring at him for some reason. Sapphire frowned at her. "Can you talk to Night?"

Amethyst looked into Night's eyes, watching them gain more and more pink. "Vaporee eon vae?"

Night blinked, then shook his head. "I can't understand what you're saying. Sorry." The Vaporeon gave a small little quirk of her lips, shaking her head softly and walking off. Night looked around at the world, seeing it in an entirely new light from what he'd been seeing it as before. Everything looked so much more colourful, vibrant, and more ... alive than what it had seemed like before. There were creatures chirping around him, pokemon talking in low tones. Things were just brimming and overflowing with the joy of being alive.

"Night?" Night turned to Sapphire, willing and waiting. "Do you remember, what we were doing earlier?"

"Doing? Were we doing something? All I remember is that little such and such that was trying to squash you. I was so ... enraged by the thought that she would hurt you, maybe even kill you, that I kinda lost control." Night scooped Sapphire up in a tight bear hugg, the green Charmander squeaking as he was hugged tightly. "I don't ever want to live in a world without you. I wouldn't be able to live without you."

Sapphire gave a happy churr. "I love you too Night." Sapphire's small little tail flame burst into heat and brightness. The blue flames once again had a small white hot core.

*Well. That's all well and good, but what am I to do about the problem you're causing right now?* Night and Sapphire blinked in confusion. Elyan pointed at Night's crotch. Two sets of eyes followed the pointing finger, two seperate and completely opposite reactions followed suit.

"Oh my.." Whispered Sapphire, already drooling and desiring that fleshy hose to be touching him again.

"WHERE ARE MY PANTS? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? WHERE THE HELL ARE MY PANTS?!?!?!?" His hands went to his crotch, pushing the worm of thick flesh down, desperately trying to hide his embarrassment, and knowing his eyes were glowing rubies. Reaching out to his pack, which was a fair distance away, he tugged at it, linking it's form with the location on his immediate left. The bag winked out of existance, and winked back in beside him. A few of the pokemon startled at the bag's sudden arrival, but calmed down at a soft glare from Elyan. Night franticly dug through the items in the bag, tossing the box that contained the universal internet/pokedex/phone/etc to the side. The pokeballs came next, almost thrown at random. The survival book went flying, before it was suddenly captured by Elyan's mind, and brought to her face so that she could read it and peruse it's contents. Night finally reached his spare clothes.

Using an almost impossible measure of self control under the circumstances, Night withdrew his shorts in a calm manor. Red eyed and faced though he was, Night put on the shorts like he was completely alone, trying not to feel the eyes upon him. His heart raced with the pure embarrassment of the moment. He knew his genitals weren't normal, had known the fact ever since he'd been six. The only way he could hide his real size was to not get excited at all, but even then first glances were deceiving. Unerrect, and unmotivated, his penis looked like any other slightly undersized male's would, after coming out of cold water. Yet get him excited, and he could give a Ponyta, or even a Rapidash a run for it's money.

Night fished around a bit more and tugged out a slightly rumpled green shirt, tugging the soft fabric over his head and chest.

*Night..?* Night turned at Elyan's gentle voice, watching her place the survival book down. *You'll be leaving me again, wont you?* Night thought about that for a moment, but nodded.

"My adoptive parents chucked me out of the house in order for me to get some real world experience. They said a pokemon journey would be a good thing for me. I have to say though, apart from the times when I or Sapphire were about to die, this journey has been exactly what I needed. I also need to head to the nearest town and call them so that they know I wont be coming back for awhile. They told me they wouldn't expect me back for at least a week, and it's almost been three." Elyan's eyes shifted slightly, her emotions hidden for now from Night.

Sapphire shook his head to rid himself of his lust filled thoughts, and gently tugged at Night's hand. He looked down to the green Charmander that had stuck through some hard times with him. "Will we be going soon, or can we spend another day here?"

Night paused what he was doing and turned around to look at Sapphire. He looked over to Elyan and she gave him a 'whatever' gesture. Night's upper right lip twitched before a smirk formed. He nodded to Sapphire. "Sure, we can stay another day, or at least the night." He turned his attention to Elyan again. "What can you tell me about the nearest town?"

Elyan wondered what to say to that. Whether Night knew it or not, they weren't exactly near any towns at all. In fact, the mountain island they inhabited was barely near any form of civilisation except for a nature watch outpost. An idea formed in her mind and she smiled benignly at Night. "The nearest town is Fortree City. Their gym leader is Winowna, and she specialises in flying pokemon. I suggest you go there and make your way to Slateport. It's a long way away, but you should be able to cover the distance with minimal effort. Slateport houses all of the luxury cruiseliners, something you might want to have a look at, and the competition halls for trainers that prefer to show off their pokemon, rather than force them to fight in battles."

Night's curiosty was immediately piqued by that bit of information. "You mean I don't have to fight other trainers at all?"

Elyan sighed, lowering her head. "Well, yes and no. For the first few preliminary rounds, you only have to show off your pokemon to the best of your abilities. In the finals you have to fight against other opponents while showing off your pokemon. Sapphire and Amethyst may be able to handle the rigorous training needed to partake in a competition, but it's not for those that have no .... flair.. for their attacks."

Night looked over at Sapphire, who was busy not paying attention, even though his breathing was slightly increased by the news. "We'll see about the competitions after we get to bed. We'll be sleeping on the grass, wont we?" Elyan nodded. "No problem, I've had to sleep in the open before. Sapphire, Amethyst!" Night raised his voice to be heard by Amethyst, which caused her to jog over to him. "We're going to be staying the night. We'll be leaving for Fortree city in the morning. I have no idea what to expect, so I ask that you help me out when you can. Okay?" Both nodded. Night smiled and gave a gentle nod to Elyan. "Well then, we'll be staying for the night if you'll allow us to."

Elyan's heart fluttered. Her child was staying the night with her, after having been seperated for years. Did she dare touch upon his mind and adjust his view of her? Immediately she struck down the thought, disgusted at using her child. She took a deep breath, then let it out slowly.

"Of course I'll allow you to Night. Where else would you go?" Night nodded, setting everything upon the ground. He made sure he had all the items he needed, Elyan watching over him. "Are you sure you don't want to come into the cave? Mewtwo and I can move to another area and give you our bedding." Night shook his head slowly at her. Elyan nodded at his decision, and winked out of existance, teleporting herself to Mewtwo's side.

*I told you not to interfere. He will leave upon his own volition when he wants to. Do no tempt the human to stay any longer than needs be.* Elyan bowed her head slightly. While Mewtwo was her mate, her other half, he was also concerned about the governing of the pokemon within his sanctuary. He had promised them personally that no human would touch them again. Had it not been for Ash, she doubted Mewtwo would ever have seen beyond the physical, and into the mentality of others.

_ *He's my son, for better or worse I have a mother's duty to him. For all those times I ignored him when I should have helped him, for that time when Dimitri banished me from his house as I was about to come clean to Night. I need to make amends, even if it means I'll become too emotionally attatched.*_

*Elyan* Mewtwo turned to view her, his eyes open, his mind closed. *You are becoming emotional. You need rest, and you need sleep. Your son will leave in the morning, and we will be better off for it.*

Elyan nodded her aquesance.

The next morning found a different view. As the sun's light crested the rising ridge of the mountain sanctuary, Night was bathed in warmth. The gentle chill which had crept in during the night was turned into soft mist as heat bathed the ground. Sapphire was curled up into Night's front, Night's arm almost posessively around the smaller pokemon. Amethyst was near Night's back and neck, her internal body heat helping him keep warm during the chill night. She was the first to stir, her red body shivering right down to her fluked tail. Her internal clock triggered the end of her sleep, and she snapped awake. She suffered a moment's confusion at being outside, staring at the back of a human's head, when she remembered everything. Her heart fluttered within her chest at remembering who and what Night was, before her mind squelched the emotion, shocked at herself.

Sapphire was next to wake, he was slow to awaken and rolled slightly within Night's grasp. He woke immediately as Night's arm yanked him posessively to his side, Night still very much asleep. Sapphire moved his tail in front of him and watched the embers grow in size with his wakefulness. It was his pastime, something to do to forget the bad things and remember the good things. Almost immediately he remembered that Night could understand him, but not Amethyst. He was wonderously overjoyed at knowing he, and he alone could communicate with Night, but just a little saddened that Amethyst couldn't as well. He wondered about what was to happen to them, confused about his reactions to the knews that Night was considering contest training. He knew he could do things the other Charmanders couldn't, and he enjoyed playing with his attacks more than the others did. He sighed in soft regret, wondering what this new day would bring.

Night slowly drifted to consciousness. Something was calling out to him, asking for help. He reached out to the voice, and pulled it towards him. Several metres away a red egg winked out of existance, reappearing beside Night and his comfortably heated Pokemon. Night sighed within his light sleep, the voice thanking him as it was restored to it's hatching heat. Night was completely unaware of his actions, as well as who and what the voice was. Sapphire moved against him, and he clutched subconsciously. The hot little pokemon was returned to his front, and Night slowly woke. He yawned widely, blinking at the grass just underneath his left eye. He blinked slowly, his mind adjusting as it did in the mornings. While he was sure he'd had enough sleep that night, he still felt so tired. He assumed a restless night, and left it at that. He rubbed at his eyes, his hand aching as it left Sapphire's heated flesh, and transfered the warmth to his eye lids.

Sitting up, Night crossed his legs, and looked out at the dawning light. A wide yawn forced him to close his eyes, and then he opene them to a soft, wavering voice.

"Good morning Night, did you sleep well?" Looking down to Sapphire's eyes, he smiled at his dark green Charmander. He reached over and rubbed his hand against Sapphire's pebbled hide, and grinned at the warmth his pokemon was letting off.

"Yes Sapphire, I had a wonderful sleep. Today, we're gonna move towards Fortree City, and see if we have any competence for gym and pokemon battles. If we don't, we'll see about contests. I'm sure you'd be fine in any contest you were entered in." Night smiled at Sapphire, rubbing his hand against the top of his pokemon's green skull. Sapphire, looked up with his brilliant blue eyes, and smiled. His tail flame burst into brilliance, stronger than any previous moments due to his extremely happy emotion flooding his small body. Night grinned at him, and regretfully removed his hand from the top of Sapphire's skull.

"Well, let's see what we've got left to do. The bag's packed already, You're here, the Vaporeon's here, and since the egg's here, we might a well take that too. I shouldn't be missing anything, should I?" Sapphire shook his head. "Then we'll wait for Mewtwo and Elyan, then we'll leave."

At the very moment he finished speaking, Elyan and Mewtwo appeared infront of him. Night's eyes twirled into a deep purple colour, before fading to a soft lilac. Elyan stepped forwards, her eyes somewhat watery, and was held back by Mewtwo's hand.

"Night, we're here to say goodbye to you." Night nodded, his hand reaching out to touch against Amethyst's ruffled head. He stood, grabbing his bag and shouldering it, tucking the deep blue egg under his arm. He looked between Mewtwo and Elyan, unwilling to let his emotions free. Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself down, his eyes turning back into a light hazel colour.

*Are you ready to leave my island?*

Night noded to Mewtwo, keeping his pokemon close. He dipped low enough to run his hand down Amethyst's purple spine ride, drawing up her fluked tail.

*Then I will transport you close to your destination. This Fortree City you think of, I can get you close to it, but it will still take you a number of walking days to reach it. Do not speak of what you have found here, do not bring others back here, and we will part with neutrality. *

Night smiled, and nodded to Mewtwo, intending to do that anyway. It wouldn't do for the humans he knew to come to this place and rape it of it's beauty. Mewtwo nodded to him again, and thn drew upon his vast psychic energies. Infront of him, a distortion occured. As he concentrated, this distortion took an eliptical form, and colours began to form within it. Slowly, deep red rock and and the colours of sky and river water, formed within the distorted space.

*Night, within this portal, you will be located very near your Fortree City. Go there, and leave here. If you head east, you will find the city you seek.*

Night nodded. "Thankyou Mewtwo, Elyan, I'll not forget your kindness." Looking to his pokemon, he smiled, his eyes going from soft liac, to orange. "C'mon guys, let's go towards our destiny!" With a grin, he jumped first into the portal, followed by Sapphire, and finally by Amethyst, though she paused a moment before enetering it. Looking past it to Elyan, she smiled, and followed her master.
