Argy stared at the fire he had created. He couldn't understand the feeling of peace it generated through warmth, and it was a pleasure to watch the flames because they somehow excluded the one other unpleasant feeling he often possessed, loneliness.

But he lay there with his paws crossed, wondering about life. So much had changed since the beginning of the war.

I wonder how long she'll take to recover...I should be helping Benjay...damn it, there's just no way I can leave her like this.

He directed his eyes onto the other side of the fire. The Bayleef he had rescued was peacefully sleeping and the Quilava found it amusing to watch her body expand every time she would inhale. And thinking about it he felt glad that he prevented such a beautiful female from perishing, and now he felt responsible for her well being.

She looks so happy...I wonder what she's dreaming about.

"Mmnn....."

Argys ears rose. The Bayleef slowly opened her eyes.

Well....finally....

The grass type seemed to be realizing that she wasn't in any familiar place, stretching her neck to observe. The Quilava got prepared to be harassed by questions. The female finally noticed him.

"Hey there...slept tight?" Argy tried to make the atmosphere friendly from the start. The Bayleef took a moment before she spoke, making the Quilava feel puzzled.

"Where am I?"

In the back of his mind, the first thing he thought about was how sweet her voice was. But he concentrated to think of good answer, not really knowing where they were himself.

"Well, lets say we're deep inside some forest where I figured would be the best place for you to recover."

The answer seemed good enough. The Bayleef tried to move.

"Thaaat's probably a bad idea..." The Quilava remarked. "First of all you've got an unpleasant wound on your neck, second thing, you're quite bruised everywhere, especially on your back leg."

After realizing what he had said and getting a confused look from the female, he couldn't believe himself.

Ah, damn it.....

"I mean eh..."

"Thanks..."

The Quilava was a kind of surprised at the sudden statement, but he didn't immediately understand. He tilted his head a bit.

"Eh?"

"For saving me...." she silently said.

"Oh! Eh...Well, em-" He searched for words. "It was nothing..."

There was an awkward silence, but Argy was still too curios.

"So, did you sleep well?" he asked. The Bayleef responded with a sweet smile.

"I feel like I overslept..." she whispered, placing her head on her paws, directing her still sleepy eyes at the fire. The Quilava smirked.

"I think the same."

"Huh?"

"You've been sleeping for two days..."

"What? Seriously?" the grass type acted surprised. The Quilava remembered.

"Well you were definitely exhausted and in a quite bad shape so it isn't such a surprise after all."

Silence.

"That means...I mean..." The Bayleef stopped for a second, looking into Argys eyes with a questioning expression on her face.

"Have you been watching over me this whole time?" She asked with maximum curiosity.

The fire type returned the look, not knowing what she expected him to say, because the answer was pretty obvious.

"Em...yeah, I mean, I couldn't just dump you here could I?" he returned the question.

The Bayleef smiled in response.

"Well....thanks..."

"Don't sweat it...."

The female looked around, as if searching for something. Argy stood up, walking around the fire and approached a hallow log, which was filled with water because it had rained the night before, which also rid the Bayleefs body of dirt and dried blood.

The Quilava bit into the branch that conveniently stuck out of the mass of wood and carefully pulled it over to the puzzled looking female.

"Here, for your thirst." He released. The Bayleef looked at the water. "Oh, and there's a pile of apples here if you're hungry..." There was a pile of green fruit a meter away from the grass type. Argy silently rolled a couple of apples right next to front of the Bayleef and eventually returned to his place, making himself comfortable. His friend began to drink.

"Oh, by the way, my name is Argy." he stated spontaneously. The Bayleef lifted her head.

"I'm Faith."

The Quilava watched the female eat. It felt good to help others.

He tried not to speak so that Faith could properly finish.

"Mnn...."

The Bayleef lay herself down again. Argy was actually prepared for her to ask questions and wasn't expecting her to just abruptly sleep again.

I guess she's still tired....oh well, I should take a nap too.

He gave the fire a last boost with his flamethrower felt his eyelids forcing themselves to drop.

------------------------------Next Morning-----------------------------------------

"Hmm...."

Argy rolled on his body to face the other side, with his eyes still closed.

There was a strange sound, similar to a noisy breeze but...there was no breeze.

Hmm....who the hell?

He started to wake up, eventually opening his eyes to notice the fact that it was a very bright day. He saw trees and logs and everything that was typical to be in a forest but didn't figure out from where the noise came. The Quilava turned around.

What's this?

In the back of his mind, he was disturbed by the piercing sunlight, forcing him to fully wake up. But he concentrated on something else.

The fire was gone and there, stood Faith.

Now it wouldn't be weird if it wasn't for the fact that she was glowing, her body color changed from her usual light green to a kind of transparent white. It seemed that some kind of white energy was flowing into her while she stood there watching the sun.

And that was from where the strange sound came from. Argy watched until the Bayleef eventually stopped, and the noise faded away. Her body turned into her normal green.

Hmm?

And it was then that he noticed that his friend seemed to look perfectly normal, no bruises, no wounds, nothing.

Faith turned around noticing the Quilava staring in surprise. She smiled.

"Good morning." Her voice couldn't get sweeter. Now that she looked more or less clean and was standing in the sun, Argy admired the look of her smooth skin.

Wait a moment....what am I thinking about damn it...

Argy shook his head.

"Morning..."

He didn't stop staring, thinking what exactly the effects were of what he had seen.

"Em, what did you do just now?" he asked.

"It's called synthesis. I can heal myself using sunshine." The Bayleef explained. Argy had never heard of this move before, but he was quite impressed. The green creature started to move around, enjoying her healed body.

"Okay...interesting move."

"Oww!!" Faith suddenly yelped, falling on her knee. Argy instinctively got up, approaching her. She struggled to get back up, trying to smile it off.

"Careful. You alright?" Argy asked seriously looking at her. Faith tried to observe her leg. She knew that her move probably couldn't heal her leg if it was something with the bone.

"Yeah..." she silently remarked, lying. But the Quilava knew better, sitting down in front of her with a grin. It was kind of cute that she tried to hide the obvious, and as soon as Faith noticed his expression, she couldn't help but blush.

"Guess it didn't quite heal your leg, huh?" Argy said directly. Faith sighed, laying down where she was before.

"It's ok, I'll just need a little more time..." she sounded confident. The Quilava didn't want the dreaded silence to return, and remembered that he actually had a lot of things to ask his new friend.

"So, where do you live?"

There was a silence. Argy knew that he probably shouldn't of asked because the Bayleef didn't really look happy after hearing what he said.

"I used to live in Kretna...." she replied in a low voice.

Oh damn....

Argy understood immediately.

"Oh, sorry..."

Kretna was actually the village near the sea. It was the place he and his crew got recruited for to protect after news came in about an invasion from the Fourth Island. It was not far from the place where he had left his friends, and as much as he knew, the village was destroyed before the Second Islands troops could even get there, including himself and his friends. Thats why they battled that far away from the place itself.

It all made perfect sense.

"It's ok." Faith replied. The Quilava knew perfectly well that it was not "ok". He looked away not knowing what he should say, and hate the fact that it was getting awkward again being close to someone but not speaking to them.

"Emm...Argy?"

Argy couldn't help but to notice every time what a sweet voice Faith had. It rapidly destroyed his thinking and made him answer immediate.

"Yeah?"

He was expecting a quick reply, but he was wrong. Faith looked to the side before eventually formulating the question in her head and looking back.

"How should I say this...I would like to bath."

"Bath?"

The Quilava responded just as soon as he heard the word. It echoed in his head, reminding him over and over again what it meant. Bath - Water. Water - Water. Water - Cold\Bad\Unpleasant\Cold \Very Cold. Briefly said, he hated water.

He thought about this while his expression equaled that of a statue. Faith tilted her head, finding it amusing that a simple word could have such weird effect, but not understanding why it did so.

"Yes..." She suspiciously said. Still no answer."You do know what I mean, don't you?"

"Of course I do! Eh..." The Quilava exclaimed loudly.

Damn it!! Why does it have to be a bath....Man...

But he knew there was know way out, so he reminisced about his walk a day ago, trying to remember if there was some place where taking a bath would be possible.

"There's a lake not far from here...but your leg-"

"It's ok."

Attempt to cross the "bathing" failed. He sighed, looking up into Faiths eyes, and one could say he looked sad, while the truth was, well actually, he was sad. He noticed that Faith awaited his response.

"What, you want to go now?" he asked, fearing the answer. The Bayleef tilted her head again.

"Is that, bad?"

"No but..." The Quilava just gave up, standing up.

"Okay...well then, lets go." he grumbled. The thought of even touching water made him shudder.

"Thank you!" Faith sounded so happy that Argy had the feeling if it wasn't for her leg, he would probably get hugged to death. He couldn't believe that taking a bath could be something you look forward to. The Bayleef got up.

"We're not there yet...Don't have to thank me..." he said, sounding pissed at the fact that they were really going to go and do something with water.

Puh...doesn't mean I'll take one, I'll just wait.

"But I trust you..." The Bayleef happily said.

"Okay..." Argy looked at her leg. After noticing him look, Faith did the same.

"Wait a sec..."

The fire type walked away, looking at the nearest tree. The first thick stick he saw he gripped with his jaw, bringing it over and placing it near Faith while she watched.

"For your leg..."

He walked around for another half a minute returning with some vines in his mouth, also placing them next to the Bayleefs leg.

"Now...how should I do this..." Argy observed the leg. He took the piece of wood into his mouth again, carefully pressing it against Faiths broken leg. He reacted a bit at first because it was the first time she was fully aware of the Quilavas touch, but she knew she could trust him.

She also noticed that Argy was having a hard time thinking how he should tie the vines around the wood while holding it. After grinning, two long vines expanded from her neck, taking the two smaller ones and, surprising Argy who still held the piece of wood tied them around her leg, fixating the stick.

"There..." Argy concluded the process by taking away his paw and smiling.

"Thanks...." Faith returned the smile.

"No problem..." The Quilava watched the grass type move. She adapted to a slow speed, because walking faster still seemed to be troublesome.

"Does it help?" he asked.

"Yeah..." Faith turned her neck to look at her injury. She had to admit that the piece of wood was actually helpful, not thinking so at first. She then looked at Argy, letting him now that she was ready.

The whole way it seemed like the forest was mostly abandoned. It was actually understandable that the Pokemon would prefer to be far away from war but this was kind of beginning to get strange. Argy would notice a lot of Pidgeys fly around and of course too much bug Pokemon like Caterpies and Wurmples, but that was it. He wondered where the usual forest Pokemon were like Stantlers or Zigzagoons.

The journey was slow due to the Bayleefs injury, but enjoyable nevertheless, because Argy and Faith seemed to realize that they got the perfect opportunity to get to know each other. Argy had a bit of an unexperienced and somewhat funny/talkative character, while Faith seemed more of the type that would just listen and reply, laughing most of the time because the Quilava always tried to joke around.

They were walking downhill, approaching the lake.

"-so yeah, I kind of had to tackle him from the back you know? It's not like I had a choice there."

They were in a middle of a discussion. Faith giggled.

"Cheater..."

"Well-"

He stopped. They stood in front of an apple tree, and Argy remembered that he and Faith didn't have any breakfast yet. He searched for a branch with at least two apples on it, opening his mouth to prepare a flamethrower.

"Don't do that..." The Bayleef remarked in a serious tone. The Quilava closed his mouth while adapting a questioning look.

"How am I supposed to get the-"

Before he could finish he watched two vines dart for the previously aimed apples, carefully plucking them from the big branch.

"-apples then." The fruit glided right in front of his nose.

"Convenient." He bit into the green form, taking a grip on it while the vines returned to their owner. Argy smiled in response to show that he was aware of his "Not thinking".

They peacefully munched on their meal, and Faith was surprisingly much faster. She walked passed the fire type, happily approaching the water. The lake was huge, but, also seemed abandoned. Two or three Slowpokes, maybe a Squirtle, basta...

Before Faith stepped into the water she looked to see if her friend was finished. Argy was also approaching, but stopped about three meters away from the Bayleef.

"Are you coming?" Faith asked. Argy was struck by panic.

"Eh-" He just thought of something as an excuse. "I just took a bath yesterday, I think I'll pass."

Faith entered the water, sighing. She happily drank, swam around and washed herself enjoying the warm fluid. Argy came close to the shore, jumping on a big stone that was partially in the water. He kind of didn't want to make the Bayleef feel uncomfortable so turned himself to look at the forest. This didn't rescue him from the lustful thoughts that he tried to ignore since the morning. Time went slowly by, and the only thing that the Quilava heard was the splashing of water letting him know that everything was alright.

"You don't want to take a bath with me?"

This didn't make the situation in his mind better. The Quilava gulped, but told himself that she definitely didn't mean it that way. He didn't turn around, trying to sound normal.

"I'm fine, don't worry. I'll just keep watch. Besides, I think I caught a cold." He coughed ironically. He knew that the chance that Faith would fall for something like that, was probably zero.

"Really?" she teasingly asked, still not understanding the reason. She assumed that all Pokemon washed themselves in water.

"Yeah." Argy seriously replied. Again the sound of splashing water returned.

"Okay..."

The Quilava let out the air that was stored in his lungs. His fear of touching the water was gone.

Unknowingly to him, two vines slowly made their way towards him.

"Huh?!- Woah!! Ey!!"

SPLAAASH!!!!

Later----

"Sorry..."

They were back at their previous camping place. It was close to be totally dark. Argy lay with his head on the ground in front of a pile of wood, that just wouldn't catch fire. That is, if there would be any fire. The Quilavas ability to make fire was gone, because he now possessed a nasty cold that blocked his nose, making him sniff the whole time. This also gave him a slightly altered, funny voice as if he was speaking through a tube.

Faith used her vine whip to gather up more wood. She felt kind of bad for what she had done, but the Quilava wasn't even slightly annoyed or anything because he knew it was his mistake for not telling her the consequences of him bathing in water. His body temperature was much, much higher than average, so even water that would seem warm for other Pokemon would be too cold for him. And coupled with the fact that he was wet afterwards and got hit by the wind on the way home, it wasn't at all surprising that he was sick.

"It's *sniff* nothing..." he calmly replied, with his eyes half shut. He wanted to sleep but it was too cold. He thought of a way to get his desired fire.

"Uh....I feel like I've been chewed on." He mumbled, trying to use his flamethrower with his chin still on the ground. Smoke desccended into the air. He gave up.

"This isn't good...you really can't use your fire right now? Because now you do have a cold." Faith remarked sounding really worried. She searched for some more wood. Argy felt an itch rise.

"No...It will probably work tomorrow- ACHOOO!!!!"

The region was suddenly lit up for a few seconds, and a raging, thick fire managed to cover the now big pile of wood. It was different from a usual fire attack, more dominant, and even some of the thick sticks started to burn. Faith didn't know what to say, she was more than thankful that she wasn't in the way at the moment.

"-or if I sneeze *sniff*....forgot about that."

The Bayleef was still kind of surprised, but smiled nevertheless. It was amusing to watch the Quilava. He looked so sad, alone, even though truthfully he was just tired of his cold. She lay down next to the fire, using her vine whip to fetch wood.

"You shouldn't forget things."

"I know..."

The Quilava felt another itch. He tilted his head a bit backwards, opening his mouth.

"A-"

Something that suddenly pressed against his nose distracted him. Faiths vine whip was handy in many ways. He calmed down.

"Uhh *sniff*...thank you."

"You look so adorable. Even your furs standing up." Faith said, sounding really amused. The Quilava didn't know what to say and in his state he looked like all he cared about was his sniffing.

"But really, I'm sorry, I thought even fire types wash themselves-"

"Girl...don't get the wrong Idea. We can still lick ourselves clean you know. It's not like I'm *sniff* related to a Muk or something...*sniff* uhh...."

Faith had to giggle at the way Argy explained. The Quilava came really close to the fire, laying down on his back, it was undescribable pleasure to feel the heat. Faith wondered how on earth he didn't catch fire himself but then again, he was practically fire.

"By the way...." she silently started. Argy didn't want to move his head, he just stared at the sky. His voice was once again altered, sounding even funnier than before due to the fact that he was on his back.

"Yeah? *sniff*" He hated his blocked nose, but he knew that if he spent a couple of hours next to the fire it would gradually pass.

"Are you alone?" the grass type asked.

Argy didn't know how she meant it and more so didn't understand why she asked.

"Eh...in terms of now? Well yeah..." He explained. "Me and my friends got recruited to help in this stupid war...*sniff*"

"You've probably got a lucky girlfriend..."

Now this was something the Quilava would of never expected. He felt kind of proud that the Bayleef thought that way.

"Girlfriend?" He tried to reminisce. Girlfriend? "I don't actually have one...matter of fact I've only had one in my life. Nothing serious though..."

There was a long silence, and Faith thought the discussion was over, and didn't realize that Argy was just trying to remember something.

"I don't even remember why she dumped me." Argy broke the silence. There was a silence, but Faith couldn't stop herself from laughing. The timing, what he said, the way he said it, his voice everything about that phrase made her laugh.

"But you know that it was her who dumped you?" she asked. You can say "how we broke up" but if he didn't remember, how did he know that she dumped him?

"It's got to be that way...I mean I can't really-"

"-imagine yourself dumping someone?" Faith finished the phrase.

Everything went quiet, until the Quilava understood what his friend had meant.

"Haha...now that's what I call irony." He laughed. Faith kept on placing more wood into the fire, while the Quilava enjoyed the flickering flames.

"What about you?" he wished to continue the topic. It was always fun to ask about such things. Faith unexplainably blushed. Her voice made it obvious she was shy about something.

"I- em...." The Quilavas suspicion rose. After some waiting the answer came, in a somewhat unexpected sad tone. "I've only had one boyfriend..."

The sound of flames eating up the wood with crackling sounds filled the atmosphere.

"Is it me or are you embarrassed? You're sounding like it's a crime *sniff*"

"Hey..that's not what I wanted to express actually."

"You should have as less boyfriends as possible....we men are evil *sniff*"

Faith giggled. She was really enjoying the fact that even in such a state Argy tried to make her laugh.

They enjoyed the time next to the fire, speaking about various other things. The Quilava could feel his nose problem vanish slowly, and Faith threw in the last piece of wood. At the end both felt tired, but Argy still had one question left.

"Faith?"

The Bayleef opened her already closed eyes.

"Yes?" she said in her usual, sweet voice.

"Em...." Argy didn't know how to ask the question. He actually kind of feared the answer. "You know if you want, you could come with me to my village. Of course, unless you want to do something else I just thought you know, your leg....."

The usual "thinking mode" was on.

"Can I?"

Yes!!!

"Of course you can!! And if somebody say you can't then who cares, I said you can!" Faith kind of noticed Argys sudden happy mood. She enjoyed the fact that in such small time, he seemed to care for her more than anybody did in her life.

"Thanks..."

She whispered. The Quilava happily rolled onto his side with a smile. The Bayleef also felt happy.

"No problem...sleep tight."

"You too..."
