I think that's everything so far, so let's get on with the story.

I stared out the window as Dad drove us into the small town wishing I was back in New York with Lena, Riko, and Lex who were probably at Yankee Stadium watching the game. I sighed and glanced at Dad who smiled at me and said "Jake, you know we couldn't stay in New York, I may still be a part of the team as one of their managers, but you being kicked out of three schools in the last few months has put us in a tight spot." I shrugged then shook my hair out of my eyes growling softly. I guess I should explain, before I go on. I'm Jake Arrows, the son of the esteemed baseball player Jet Arrows, who used to be the Yankees' top pitcher, and hitter. We used to live in a small suburb on the edge of New York, however I kept getting in trouble with the school's, so I got kicked out and we moved here. I don't even know the town's name yet, but from what my dad said it's full of religious fanatics Which is why I have a feeling I'm in for a lot of fighting. The other reason we moved is that dad ended up becoming the manager of the team and needed to plan for the next season.

I glanced in the mirror and saw my gold and silver flecked blue eyes staring back at me. I shivered slightly and Dad glanced at me then back at the road and said "Is something bothering you?" I shook my head and stared out the window watching the mansions and large summer houses pass. I sighed softly and thought "Damn /'m so out of luck. I know dad wants me to have a better childhood than him, especially since he promised mom, but I don't see why I have to go to some snooty private school that requires we move out of the place I grew up in." I sighed softly and blinked as we pulled into the drive of our new place. I silently thanked whatever beings were watching that it wasn't near as big as some of the places around, but it wasn't so small the two of us would have to share a room. Dad saw my look and said "Four bedrooms, Three bathrooms, a large garage, an attic, a study, a kitchen, a dining room, and a basement. Take your pick on what you want, but the study and attic are mine for work." I nodded and he smiled slightly then said "There's also a den which I plan on filling with a TV so we don't miss out on any of your favorite teams playing." I smiled in appreciation at him then sighed as the fact we definitely were living here settled in.

I sighed softly and opened the door then headed to the trunk. Dad got out and I said "As long as no one gives us a bible for a house warming gift I'm good." Dad laughed, but I was completely serious. Part of why I'd been kicked out of the last three schools was the teachers and I disagreed on theology. I sighed and grabbed my stuff then walked in. I blinked seeing almost all of our stuff was waiting for us in the living room and mumbled "Oh yeah, Dad told the movers to leave everything in the house and come back this afternoon so he could pay them." I shook my head and ran up the stairs figuring I'd get the basement and an upstairs bedroom for my personal areas while we'd share everything else except for Dad's study and the attic. Dad walked in just as I got to the top of the stairs and yelled "HEY HELP UNPACK BEFORE YOU RUN OFF!!!!" I raised an eyebrow at him and said "Dad, I'm picking a room then I'll come and get my stuff." He nodded obviously realizing it was futile to argue with me then walked back to the study, probably to make sure his desk was in place.

I walked through each room looking for the one that fit my personality until I walked into the one that had dark green walls, a brown tile floor, a black ceiling, and interestingly enough a west facing window. I tossed my bag on the floor then headed downstairs and grabbed the rest of my stuff. Halfway up the stairs dad saw me and said "I guess you made your choice." I nodded and he smiled then turned to go in the kitchen while saying over his shoulder "I'm going to make lunch, when you get your room how you want it, come down and help unpack the rest of our stuff." I nodded and ran to my room then started stacking my stuff on the walls. I grinned slightly glad my dad didn't mind my hobby of keeping old swords and bows. I smiled slightly liking where everything was then pulled the cloak Lex had gotten for me off the wall and tied it around my throat. I walked downstairs and unpacked everything in about twenty minutes, stacking it into two separate piles to make the sorting later easier. I stretched when I was done then headed into the kitchen where Dad was slapping a few grilled cheese sandwiches onto plates. I raised an eyebrow and he pointed to the trash then said "My first attempt at lunch failed, as your mother would probably say, I'm a better baseball player than cook. So since you like cooking so much I think it's your job just like back home." I nodded and cut my sandwich in half then slowly started eating it while he sprayed some ketchup on his plate and ate his own.

We finished after about five minutes then grinned at each other and I said "Basement and the last bedroom on the west side of the house are mine." He nodded and I said "Everything's put into two piles so we just have to grab our own stuff and take it to our rooms, then when the movers bring what's left of the furniture I guess we need to put it in our rooms and the house is ready." Dad nodded and we walked into the living room then grabbed our stuff and headed upstairs. I went to my room while Dad examined the rest of the rooms and his attic. I tossed my clothes in the closet then headed downstairs to sit on the couch, which the movers had conveniently brought, and wait for the movers to show up. As soon as I got downstairs the doorbell rang and I cursed softly then yelled "DAD WE'VE GOT COMPANY!!!" upstairs. I glanced up to see him standing there covering his ears then walked over to the door and opened it as he got to the bottom. A tall handsome cheetah anthro, with startlingly bright green eyes smiled at me while his wife shoved a plate of cookies into my arms. Their son who wore an aussie style hat, a t shirt, and shorts smiled apologetically shrugged and handed the plate to dad who started conversing with the parents while nodding my head to the kitchen for their son to follow me. He nodded and the two of us snuck away while our parents were distracted.

He glanced around as we snuck through the house then blinked when we got to the kitchen and said "Well looks like you guys got set up fast." I nodded and he saw the plates in the sink then asked "We didn't interrupt you guys or anything, did we?" I shook my head and motioned for him to have a seat then slipped into a chair sighing. He smiled slightly and said "I guess I should introduce myself, I'm Dasher Cheetah and you are?" I smiled slightly and said "Jake Arrows, you know your name is somewhat of a pun on you race." He nodded sighing and said "It's because I was running before I opened my eyes, or so my dad says. I don't know if I believe him since he likes to tell tall tales. By the way, where do you plan on going to school?" I sighed and tossed him the pamphlet my dad had forced me to memorize, then said "Asterion Academy, from there however if I stay all year I can go wherever I want for college. Sucks moving in at the beginning of freshman year." Dasher nodded then grinned and said "Well at least you'll have one friend at the school." I raised an eyebrow questioningly and he started laughing. I smiled slightly as my ears managed to sneak out of my hair and started twitching. Dash glanced at me and didn't seem to notice then said "Yeah, I'll be in your class, it's my first year but I'm already on the track team. You should try out." I shook my head then heard his dad calling him and Dasher got up. We shook hands and he walked out while I leaned back staring at the ceiling deep in thought.

After about ten minutes my dad walked in and set the cookies on the table then stretched and sat down. I looked at him and he said "So think this school year is going to suck still?" I nodded slightly then sighed and said "But having a friend should help." He laughed and the two of us started talking about baseball and who we thought would make the cut for his team. After about ten minutes the door bell rang again. I looked at Dad and said one word "No." Then walked upstairs and pulled one of my swords off the wall. I ran my thumb along the edge, then growled when it wasn't bleeding and pulled out my whetstone. I slowly ran it down the blade, enjoying the soft schinck sound it made, and smiled slightly as I remembered my friend Lex guiding my hands the first time I used one of these. They'd set the blade down in my lap then turned it slightly and guided my hand at the time, until I had the feel for it and was working three times as fast as when I started. I pulled myself out of my reverie as I heard dad yell "JAKE COME DOWN HERE WE HAVE GUESTS, AND THE MOVERS ARE HERE!!!!" I sighed and slipped my sword back into its sheath which hung from the wall then ran down stairs. Halfway down I caught sight of who the "company" was and pulled the hood of my cloak up over my ears.

The man standing in the doorway talking to Dad was obviously a Christian priest, despite being a horse fur. I sighed softly and thought "Damn it why do we always attract the religious assholes? I bet this bastard would call me an abomination if he knew I was the cross between a human and a fur, just like so many others, including Lex's little brother. Stupid bigots don't even seem to realize I have feelings just like a normal anthro or human." I sighed and slunk down the stairs slowly then stood next to dad and listened as he introduced me then said "So your son Robert is on the football team." The preacher said something to the affirmative, but I wasn't paying to much attention. I was studying his son who was standing behind him studying our house as if wondering why it was so sparse. I growled so softly that no one else heard it, but subconsciously had to restrain myself from going after the bastard's throat. He seemed to exude an aura that said he was better than us, so I knew his family must have had old money. I shook my head trying to clear away the idea of attacking 'Robert' as his father and mine talked some more then heard something about me and looked up. My dad laughed and said "Jake's only interested in Baseball, martial arts, and running."

Robert's father laughed and said "Afraid to play a contact sport like football, eh. That may be a sign that your son's not the least bent rod on the rack, if you know what I mean." I pulled back my fist to punch him, but Dad stopped me with a look then said "Joseph, my son is straight, if you don't believe me ask him yourself." I smiled darkly and said "I don't find males attractive, and dislike male to male contact, but I bet your son is a different story." Joseph reared his arm back to punch me and I grabbed his arm with my left hand then slammed my fist into his stomach and said in his ear "I take martial arts so I don't beat the shit out of assholes like you." He coughed and my dad pulled me away. I looked at him and said "Tell the religious ass to get out, or I'll turn him into a gelding." I headed upstairs not paying attention as my father yelled after me and I heard someone starting to follow me. I kicked out backwards and felt my foot connect with bone causing the figure to fall off the stairs. I didn't turn around, however I said "Don't even try coming after me again, I don't feel like hurting you more." loud enough to be heard."

I'd known I'd hit one of the anthros because I hadn't heard the distinct crush of my old man's nose breaking for the fifth time. I sighed softly when I got to my room and kicked the door shut then plopped down with my legs folded and went back to sharpening my sword. I calmed down after ten minutes then checked both sides of my blade, and the tip. All three area's drew blood so I slowly pushed it into it's sheath as my dad walked in. I looked at him and said "Sorry for how I acted, but I can't stand people who make assumptions then try to beat me when I throw those assumptions back at them. I know it was stupid, however if I didn't do it I'd have to deal with it later." He nodded slowly and said "I guess I should have realized you wouldn't take being insulted, after all you have my spirit and your mothers." I smiled slightly remembering the few pictures of her I'd seen strung throughout our old house. Dad saw the look in my eyes and sighed then said "We need to go get our stuff, the movers left it in the front yard after your little outburst." I smiled apologetically then rushed downstairs figuring I'd better hurry since my dresser had some important stuff in it.

Dad came down at a slightly more sedate pace to see me slowly trying to pick up my dresser from the center and drag it inside. Sadly I failed miserably until he grabbed it and we hauled it upstairs. I silently prayed to whatever beings were watching over us that my old man thought to install an elevator within the next few weeks. When we got it up the stairs we set it down both of us breathing hard. After a few minutes we looked at each other then hauled it into my room and set it against the north wall where I'd left room for it below my weapons. Dad shook his head and said "You are a strange teenager." I shrugged and we walked back downstairs. Next we grabbed Dad's dresser and hauled it up to his room. It took less time than my dresser since it just contained some clothing, so we walked back downstairs and grabbed the beds. It took about an hour to get everything set up then I went and took my shower since Dad had pointed out that tomorrow was most definitely my first school day and I didn't feel like smelling like stale sweat. While I was in the shower I heard the doorbell ring.

I sighed and dried off then walked to my room and got dressed. Halfway there I noticed Dad and a group of foxes talking at the top of the stairs. I blinked and started to stop then dived across the hallway into my room and slowly got dressed. I walked out and noticed what I'd missed before that the foxes were actually digimon. I blinked then stared with my mouth half open trying to think of the right question to ask them. My dad glanced at me and said "Jake close your mouth. This is the renamon family. The girls are Amanda and Danna, their parents are Kiko and Mina." I raised an eyebrow and he said "Their Japanese, however the girls were born here in America." I nodded finally getting why they had such strange names then headed downstairs to grab a bottle of soda. Dad yelled after me "YOU COULD AT LEAST HAVE SAID HI BEFORE RUNNING OFF!!!" I walked back upstairs after grabbing my soda and smiled at them then said "Good evening ladies, sorry about what you saw earlier. I just didn't think my dad was expecting company." Dad sighed and said "Kiko seems to believe that he knows someone I should toss into the tryouts for the team." I nodded holding back a growl of irritation at the fact it was business. All of a sudden Amanda reached out and grabbed one of my ears causing me to yip in surprise.

She blinked and said "I'm so sorry, I didn't think those were real." I blinked and rubbed my poor ear then said "Why didn't you ask before attacking me." She smiled in apology while her sister walked up and gave my ear a twist causing me to howl out in pain and end up baring my fangs which she grabbed onto. I stared at her confused and she said "Wow, it's all real." She said it in the cold tone that I remembered I'd read most renamon were reclusive, and somewhat bitchy in most people's opinions. I growled and covered my mouth while my ear throbbed and mumbled "So lucky you two are girls, but next time that won't stop me since Lina was almost a black belt and could easily handle herself." They looked at me one with slight worry the other seeming to want me to fight her. I sighed and said "Look sorry if I seem pissed, but I've had a lot of stress happen today." They nodded then walked off to listen to their parents, and my dad, who'd wandered off while we were arguing about my ears. I watched them go then walked into my room sighing and sat down on my bed. I looked at the ceiling and sighed then thought "Well so far I've met a group of digimon, pissed off a family of horses, and made friends with a cheetah. Lena was right when she said I had the strangest luck of anyone in town."

I laid back and stretched out thinking about what tomorrow would bring then heard someone calling my name from the window. I blinked and glanced over to see Lex, and Lena staring in at me. I raised an eyebrow and walked over then opened the window to let them in. Lena swung in while Lex climbed in then reached down to pull up Riko and Lena's boyfriend Damien. I shook hands with Damien glad to see him even if he obviously only came to make sure his girlfriend didn't have anything happen to her, while Riko and Lex looked around my room. I stretched out slightly and said "Welcome to my humble abode, oh mighty beagle, crazy human, idiot fox, and intellegent dragon." They all burst out laugh at the nicknames I gave them then Damien said "So why is it you call Lena the mighty one, when she looks the most innocent of all of us?" I sighed and said "Because I still haven't kicked her ass in a sparring match."

She smiled smugly while Riko and Lex leaned on the wall near the windows and Damien just laughed remembering our last fight. I sighed and studied the four of them. Lena was an innocent looking beagle who was one step away from getting a black belt. She had light auburn hair, deep brown eyes, a nice figure, and a fluffy tail that caught every guy she passed's attention. Riko was a tall black fox, which is strange in itself, with red eyes, silver hair that went down past his shoulders, a bushy tail that girls fawned over, a smile that lit up a room, and stood at about five foot seven compared to Lena's five foot three.

I smiled slightly to myself as I glanced at Damien who was a red and gold dragon with close cropped black hair, purple eyes that seemed to look through you, stood about six foot eight, wore clothes that were covered in rips from all the fights he'd been in, and had a strange symbol tattooed on his left hand that he said meant longevity. Lastly there was Lex who was about five foot six, still growing, wore loose clothes, had long light brown hair that went down to their shoulders, emerald green eyes, had a single scar over their left eye they wouldn't explain about to anyone, always wore a bracelet on their left wrist, and tied their hair back in a ponytail most of the time. Lex glanced at me and said "What's your mind Jakey boy?" I growled softly, hating when anyone called me that, and tackled them. Damien and Riko started chuckling, while Lena sighed and said "Knock it off before you make your dad come back up." I got up grumbling and she patted me on the back then looked at Lex and said "You know he hates that, so stop pushing him so hard." Lex smiled slightly and said "Say that when he isn't groping your ass and I might listen." Lena turned to smack me but I ducked. When I came up I got smacked in the back of the head by Damien who said "I thought the three of us agreed not to go after each other's girlfriend." I rubbed my head, my eyes watering, and said "Can you blame me for wanting to touch such a masterpiece."

Damien had nothing to say to that while Riko burst out laughing, and both Lex and Lena were giving me a death stare. I blinked and said "I so wish this wasn't my room, because if it wasn't I'd be out the window and running home." They burst out laughing and Damien said "You are such a scaredy cat." My ears perked up and I held up a hand like I'd seen a few cat girls I met do and said "Meeeow?" Riko fell over holding his stomach unable to make a sound because of how hard he was laughing, while Damien stared at me stunned into speechlessness. I grinned wolfishly which caused the girls to fall over laughing and said "This wolf, knows how to imitate his prey to attract their attention." Damien fell over and Lena looked at me questioningly. I smiled evilly at her and said "Just slam my spikes into his crotch, he'll wake up." Damien jumped up saying "You are so not going near my crotch with cleats Jake!" I smiled more and said "What about Lena?" He looked at her and she gave him the innocent puppy dog eyes. He blinked and said "As long as she doesn't kick me with them, then sure why not." I glanced at her and said "Me and Riko will hold him down, you go get the cleats."

Damien stared at me as Riko started going for his left arm, then he dived out the window. Riko and I fell over laughing while Lena and Lex had to hold back giggles. By the time we calmed down Damien came back in shaking his head slowly and said "You guys weren't serious were you?" We shook our heads trying to keep from laughing at the look on his face. He got really angry and started growling with thing flames burning at the corners of his mouth. I smiled slightly and patted him on the back feeling the heat radiating from his body. He slowly calmed down and said "You are an asshole." I smiled and said "Yeah but that's why you guys love me, after all if I wasn't such an ass your lives would be boring." He sighed then all of them nodded and Lex said "You know we should probably get out of here." I nodded, but everyone else looked at them questioningly. They sighed and said "We have class tomorrow, and missing our first day will get all of us kicked out. After all the teachers are looking for an excuse to get rid of anyone who was friends with Jake." I nodded then blinked as I saw a thin aura glowing around each of my friends. Riko's reminded me of loyalty as he opened the window. Lex's was of deceit, leadership, and friendship. Damien's was of worry when he looked at Lena, but pride whenever he looked at the rest of us as if he was proud to know the rest of us. Lena's aura was of love when she looked at Damien, Trust with Lena, Loyalty when she glanced at me, and happiness when she saw Riko.

I smiled and said "You guys have permission to head in my room when ever you want. Just open the window and wake me up." They nodded and dived out the window then got in Damien's car and drove home. When they were gone I shut my window and slowly took off my cloak then hung it up on the peg I'd set into the wall for it. I sighed softly as I pulled off my shirt and stared into the mirror. I sighed softly as my reflection looked back at me and studied it. My ears are black with silver tips and red lines going down them, my sides have patches of black and red fur going spread across them, but my stomach and chest are clear. My right wrist has a scar on it that seems to glow on the night of the full moon. I sighed softly and stared into my eyes which had flecks of red in them now, instead of just being forest green with gold and silver flecks. I blinked and said "What's wrong with you bucko? You look like someone deprived you of years worth of sleep." I shook my head slowly and slipped off my pants then glanced down at my sheath and mumbled "That's one thing I'll never be able to hide. It proves I'm not a regular human, yet it also protects me better than most."

I sighed and turned around glancing at my reflection over my shoulder and seeing the multicolored stripe of fur going from the middle of my spine down to the base of my tail. I sighed softly and pulled my boxers back on, then walked over to my bed and shut off my light. I slipped under my blankets and stared at the ceiling going over everything that had happened today. I shook my head and softly laughed at myself hearing myself say what I'd said to Robert's dad all over again. I sighed and muttered "Well I've made at least one enemy, embarrassed myself in front of two girls, and might have made one friend through it all. Why do I always have to open my big mouth when an asshole like that voices their opinion about me?" I shook my head and closed my eyes sighing again as the other events of the day ran through my head. I grinned slightly remembering one of my dad's girlfriends dropping to her knees and begging him to stay then him saying sorry but his family was more important. It was little moments like that, that showed me just how much he really cared. Is sighed softly and thought "I really should make dad's life easier. I mean he left the place he considered home too, and he did it more for my sake than his own." I slowly slipped from consciousness into dreams. The only thing I could remember of them was that they were important, so they bugged me all through the next couple of days because I had a feeling if I didn't remember them, something big was going to happen.

Well here's yet another of my stories beginnings Ladies and Gentleman. Here's a few questions you all probably have, Who are Jake's friends?, Why did he feel deceit flowing off one of them?, How the hell can he feel auras?, Who are the renamon?, and of course for some the most important and others just an interesting bit of information, When does the yiff begin? Well these questions and more will be answered in the next chapter, however sadly I've been neglecting a story request by a user who would prefer to be anonymous. I received this request over the summer but haven't had a chance to work on it until now. With that said, once the request is completed I will get back to work on all of my stories because I owe it to anyone who likes my work.
