#5 of Camilla Queen, the Conquerer

Chapter 4

When Camilla awoke it was already light.

Her butler Frank Simson was not in her room this morning.

Surprised, she looked around, because something didn't seem to fit, something was different than usual.

Slowly she examined her surroundings. Everything was in its place and yet there was something ... 'The door is open,' flashed through her mind. 'What the hell ...'

"Good morning Miss Queen," came the voice of the robot, which was modeled after a Tauren Anubis.

"Ehm... Good morning ... Anubis," she searched for words. "What brings you to me at this hour? Where are Frank and Stephen?"

"If you mean your butler and stepbrother, they are in the dining room awaiting you," she said.

"Very well, but why are you here and not Frank?"

"The two are conferring over who should get the booth with a view and who, as her stepbrother said, should get the cat seat," the robot replied.

"But that's only half of what I asked," Camilla probed, "somehow you're strange."

"I'm very pleased that my presence excites her," the Anubis robot said, repeatedly dodging a response.

"So," Camilla raised her voice, "what are you doing in my room?"

"The door was open and I entered."

"Anubis!" the fox-wolf ruled him. "You are avoiding my question. What's wrong with you? You have an AI but you seem like you're playing with me."

"If I wanted to play with them, I would ask them to play."

"What is your mission?"

"I can't give you any information about that."

"What, are you really trying to make me understand right now that you have a special mission, but you can't inform me about it?" the fox-wolf huffed, getting indignant.

"I can't confirm that. Still, this should not worry them, I am Anubis and I am programmed to them. Only they can give me tasks. Any sub-programming remains unaffected, but poses no threat to anyone involved," the robot finally revealed more.

"Aha, I got you there. You have an assignment that has to do with me, but you will not harm me. Will you protect me?"

"That's one of my jobs."

"After all. Answer me one more question," Camilla demanded.

"With pleasure, Miss Queen."

"Were you in my room last night?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but I saw you in my room, on my bed."

"What would I be doing on your bed?"

"You'll have to explain that to me, and more importantly, you'll have to explain to me what other secrets you're keeping."

"Miss Queen, I assure you that I was not in your room that night. Besides, I don't have any secrets that I would tell you."

"Now how am I to understand that?"

"The way I said it. Where would all the fun be if I gave it all away right away?" the robot replied, suddenly looking at Camilla a little askance and seeming to grin.

"I'm keeping an eye on you, my friend."

"Very well Miss Queen. I will not hide."

This was getting too much for Camilla.

She jumped out of bed and stood in front of the Anubis Tauren. "Carbonite, aluminum, elecronics or not, it doesn't matter. You're a very strange fellow."

"I'm full of surprises," came the cheeky reply.

"I'm absolutely sure you are."

"You should take a shower and put some clothes on, Miss Queen. It's a bit chilly today and I don't want them to catch cold. That would not be conducive to our departure."

"After all, you haven't noticed that I'm naked."

"I have noticed it very well. But I would be foolish to notice it and embarrass you."

"Who are you really? You're not a cargo robot. Burden robots don't have thoughts like that. They should be forbidden to your AI anyway."

"I'm programming myself to fit you, Miss Queen."

"Please go to the dining room and tell Stephen and my butler that I will hurry."

"Very well, Miss Queen."

"Excellent."

The robot turned, facing the door as Camilla watched him go, not missing the opportunity to risk an examining glance between his hind legs.

Nothing, there was nothing to see there. The fox-wolf took a quiet breath.

When the Anubis robot had reached the door, he paused briefly, looked at Camilla: "If I am to accompany her to Sirius D, then I need fur. As a robot, this area is off limits to me. I could organize an appropriate source on Sirius A."

Before the fox-wolf could say anything back, he was gone.

Twenty minutes later, Camilla stood in the dining room. "Good morning Stephen and good morning Frank. I wish well rested," the fox-wolf began.

"Hello sis, how was the night?" asked Stephen.

"How did you sleep, Miss Queen?" joined Frank Simson.

"I don't know, I'm rested."

"Did you see our load carrier?" asked Stephen.

"Why do you ask? You sent him to me, didn't you?"

"We what?"

"Anubis stood in my room and said he was sent by you."

"No. We didn't. We had sent him to the study to prepare the equipment."

"Stop, stop, slow down. He was standing in my room, giving weird answers to my simple questions, and acting a little strange in other ways," Camilla became indignant.

"In your room? But we didn't send him to you," Stephen explained.

"We should definitely keep an eye on him. There's something wrong," Camilla whispered conspiratorially.

"If that's your wish, Miss Queen," butler Frank interjected.

"Thank you!"

"But what did he say that made you so nervous?" echoed Camilla's stepbrother.

"He said that he has a job to do, is supposed to protect me, has an additional assignment he's not allowed to name, but that we shouldn't worry because there's no threat situation."

"Doesn't sound reassuring," Stephen muttered.

"Indeed. Mister Lang is right. Miss Queen, wouldn't you prefer to refrain from a trip to Sirius D after all?" worried Frank Simson.

"No, especially not now."

"As you wish," the Doberman butler concluded.

"Ah, yes. Our dear tinny Anubis has the same phrases as Frank by now, plus he knows I want to go to Sirius D."

"That's not possible. We hadn't mentioned it in his presence, the most he should know is about the Osiris fragment on Sirius B, but even that we hadn't mentioned in his presence," Stephen pointed out.

"He wants to accompany me to Sirius D, and he needs fur for that so he doesn't stand out. He would also supposedly already have a source."

"Still waters run deep," mused Butler Frank.

"The water Anubis swims in is not only deep, it's damn murky," Stephen added.

"Miss Queen," purred the electronic Anubis as he stepped into the room.

"Anubis!" began Camilla, "didn't I tell you to tell my stepbrother and Frank that I'd be in shortly?"

"I was in the study doing a final check of the equipment, as her stepbrother instructed me to do."

"Your assignment wasn't," Stephen added, "to go into Camilla's room and cryptically express yourself."

"I agree," replied the robot Taur. "And hereby state again for the record that they are in no danger whatsoever. My subroutine will become active in due course and they will understand."

"That lets the cat out of the bag," Camilla breathed loudly. "How much do you know about our mission. I hereby commission you to reveal all you know about it."

"Our destination is Sirius A. There we will seek transportation to Sirius B, where an Osiris fragment is said to lie. However, you yourself, Miss Queen, would like to go to Sirius D, as you are interested in what must have happened there to make it a restricted area for people like me," the robot replied dutifully.

"Were you just talking about yourself as a person?" echoed Camilla.

"I'm not aware of it," the robot evaded.

"What's wrong with you? We're going in circles and it's getting weirder and weirder."

"I'm perfectly in sync and all systems are in nominal range."

"When is the air cab supposed to get here?", Camilla changed the subject.

The Doberman butler looked at his watch. "In an hour. We should load the equipment on the cargo carrier and sort out our private luggage."

"A very good idea," Camilla replied, looking at the robot. "Anubis are you coming?"

"Very well Miss Queen. I suppose we're going to the study?"

"Right!" the fox-wolf confirmed, then looked to her stepbrother. "You guys take care of our luggage. I'll take care of Anubis and the equipment on my own."

"Do you think that's a good idea?" the wolf asked anxiously.

"Yes. I'm sure nothing will happen to me."

"Whatever you say."

Camilla and the jackal tauren robot left the room and strode down the hallway.

"May I ask you something, Miss Queen?" the Taur suddenly started.

"Shoot."

"Why has everyone seemed so irritated since I got here? After all, they did order me."

"Let me put it simply," Camilla began, continuing her thoughts, "We had ordered a simple load carrier, a BD Supreme from Taxon. And then you came on the scene."

"I'm not a BD Supreme, I'm a Plus. You can't forget that. I'm that certain something, so I am who I am and what I am."

"You mean this is all perfectly normal?"

"As normal as you want it to be, Miss Queen."

"And what was in my room last night?"

"I will not give any information about that, as I do not have the necessary data."

"Can't you give information because there is no data or because I don't give you enough data?"

"Miss Queen. My programming basically provides for interacting with you, wearing your equipment. Everything else is options, which you invoke through your behavior and conversations, which I do hear and process into data accordingly. My AI is correspondingly more sophisticated and can adapt to situations, can satisfy desires that the customer expresses unconsciously but clearly enough."

"That means that last night you were on my bed and showed me something that I unconsciously show to the outside world?"

"I confirm the approach of your thoughts, which you are expressing right now."

"But you're a robot, you're purely mechanical, how the fuck do you get a hard, thick, meaty male cock?"

"Miss Queen, I beg your pardon. Where would such an organ come from in me?"

"You said yourself earlier today that you were full of surprises and it would be unfair to give away all your secrets in advance."

"That's true as far as content is concerned. But, Miss Queen, I'm happy to return the question and answer game. Why do you keep asking me the same thing all the time? Why should I answer questions when you already know the answers?"

"Okay, okay," sighed the fox-wolf, exasperated. "Does this whole thing have something to do with the Osiris fragment? Do you have any information about Sirius D?"

In the course of the conversation, Camilla and the Anubis robot Taur had not stopped, but had reached the study.

As the Taur entered the room and the Fox-Wolf followed him, he replied curtly, "Yes, Miss Queen."

"Thank you! Then let's just load up the equipment now," Camilla quickly deflected.

"Miss Queen, may I ask you for something?"

"I'm listening."

"May I give her a hug?"

"Please what?"

"I want to hug you and feel you. I have a lot of sensors on my surfaces."

"Now that's a very strange request, don't you think?"

"Perhaps, but you will understand why very quickly."

"Because of me. You certainly won't kill me," the fox-wolf agreed.

The robot walked slowly towards her, spread its arms and embraced Camilla, first very hesitantly, then more tightly.

Its metallic surface irritated her. If she had expected it to be cold, it was surprisingly warm, almost resembling the temperature of a living being.

Suddenly Anubis began to whisper, breathe in her ear. "Camilla! No matter what happened and what will happen. Everything has its purpose, so do not be afraid. We are meant for each other, I have been yours since you ordered me. I am not the way I am for nothing. Everything you see and feel is in you, in those desires, your longings and will gradually become real. We just have to work together."

Camilla pushed the robot away from her and looked at it in amazement. "What do you mean?" she whispered.

"I don't know what you mean, Miss Queen," the robot replied gently but clearly.

"I mean what you just whispered in my ear."

"Excuse me, Miss Queen, but I am not able to whisper, because my rather simple voice modulator does not give me that. I may be the plus one, but Taxon did cut corners at one point."

Camilla stood in the study, beginning to doubt her sanity, and watched the load carrier begin to load and secure the equipment onto his body.

A jingle of the doorbell indicated they should hurry, as the air cab to the spaceport had arrived.

Fifteen minutes later, butler Frank locked up the mansion, wolf Stephen Lang, fox-wolf Camilla Queen, load-bearer Anubis, as well as doberman-butler Frank Simson had boarded the wide-bodied cab, taken their seats, and were on their way to adventure, on their way to a destination that no one really knew, no one except for Anubis, who now seemed very calm and appeared to have a closed smile on his mechanical chaps.
