Terminal Love - Short Story

"Where is she?" she thought, waltzing up and down the smooth, white marble, "Why did she have to go and get such a late flight!!?"

Chloe's tailed wagged behind her, the vixen in a white shirt and a haggard pair of jeans, her flat soled shoes clipping up and down on the shiny floors of the airport. The large terminal was empty, the darkness and heavy, whistling winds only kept at bay by the thick glass and buzzing lights high above her head. Rows of seats like pews of a great, modern cathedral were strewn across the floor, several great pillars of white marble standing strong to keep the building all together.

"Maybe...maybe something happened... Maybe the plane...no, don't think that way, Chloe..." she tempered softly beneath her breath, as if the audible words would make more sense.

"Dear customers," came the intercom, echoing through the dead, bored halls, "We are sorry to inform you that flight 32D is scheduled for a late arrival. We will update you as new information comes in."

Chloe sat down at one of the seats, rocking back and forth impatiently, trying desperately to calm herself, "Please God...please let her be alright..."

Slowly, I trundled through the enclosed ramp that connected the plane to the inside of the terminal, my carry case, slung over my shoulder. Trapped on a small passenger plane in turbulence, around worried mothers and angry fathers complaining of the service, being told the plane would take a two hour detour through the storm clouds. God, what a nightmare. I was at the back of the pack, a headache clawing at my mind to cause a deep, throbbing pain. My mood was fowl.

And...as the small compartment opened up, my face grew a special little smile. In the corner of the room, her eyes shut tight, a brown sugar vixen with strikes of golden sun purred in her sleep, slumped in the chair like an old woman after a long night of waiting. Her ears softly twitched at the little sounds and 'bings' from the speaker system. Her tail laid behind her, wrapping around the chair and dusting at the smooth floor.

Grabbing a long trolley, I sniggered happily as I wheeled it over to her, "Come on Chlo', let's get you home!" I reached down, scooping her up in my arms before softly laying her down on the trolley, slouching over the trolley, wrapping my bag in her whisky tail to keep it on the trolley. With a giggle, I softly began wheeling her out of the terminal.

"She tries so hard...cute little girl!"

I softly kissed her on the cheek before stuffing her in the back of the car, chuckling in pleasure, listening to her talk in her sleep, "Oooo Sally...mmmm, you like it rough!"

Naughty girl!
