A poem on snow, blizzards, watching them pass and work. Inspired by all the snow that had been falling at the time. Originally posted February 2021

** ** Howling Blizzard Mists

You can see it clearly blitzing by from your window but outside it's so much worse

The fierce blizzard storm rages outside making it difficult anywhere for everyone to traverse

The raging icy winds and piling snow mounds

Can be a powerful and beautiful sight but make it pretty hard to walk the effectively frozen ground

The freezing wind, it bites at your face as the cold tries to chill you everywhere, fingers to soles

And it only continues harder as the blizzard outside further rolls

Of course there are a lot of people who get to relax while the storm rages on by staying warm at home

But for those who have to answer their works call

They have to get through the delays, concerns and snow that tries to entomb us all

It's difficult and some of us make it only to get sent home hours early making you question

Question the point of coming to work today which turned out to be a pretty fruitless task

Of course tomorrow will mean shoveling and spreading rock salt when the blizzard has passed

But for now you've finally made it home worn out and can just appreciate the snow

The way the sweeping winds combine with the icy snow to make a hazy, freezing mist

You get to savor it from indoors as the howling blizzard winds continue to blow

It may end up being a headache for a day or two but it's always so beautiful and picturesque while it lasts
