Unexpected Love - Chapter 4 - Home Alone
(Author's note: 2 other of Eliseo's friends who will appear in the story will be John, and Mako. John is a human, and Mako is a Terran with white fur, and black ear tips and muzzle.)
"So are you going to go with your friends"? Quiri asked from the couch where she was watching the aquarium full of colorful fish.
"Sure, unless you want me to keep you company"? Eliseo said from the kitchen as he grabbed a crisp apple.
"No, I'll be fine" she said as he moved closer to the aquarium, noticing a pair of betta fish, obviously mates tending to their eggs, and making sure that no other fish entered the proximity. She named the male Eli and the female Quir, but she kept this to herself.
"Okay then, ill be back early" he replied, but before he could leave the house, Quiri skipped over to him, and gave a big hug, her tail wrapped around his leg. He returned the hug, her fur was so soft, he never wanted to let go as did Quiri, but sadly the hug ended.
As Eliseo left the house, he could see his breath, it was getting cold. He entered his car, and as usual instead of setting the cars interface to RIAP (road integrated auto pilot) mode, he switched it to manual and took off on his own accord. He had to go pick up John, so he headed up on the highway to get to his house. As he drove he could see people, humans and Terrans, sleeping, eating, or anything else unnecessary behind the wheel, as the cars drove themselves. Eliseo always laughed at this, anyone who abuses the RIAP system is so out of tune with their environment, while Eliseo on the other hand loved to drive.
As he approached John's house he could see him sitting on the patio as usual. He got up as he saw Eliseo.
"Late as usual, Eliseo" he laughed, his long blonde hair getting in his eyes, everyone always tells him to cut it, but he never listens.
"Shut up, and get in the car" Eliseo joked.
Once inside, Eliseo shifted gears, and began the trip to the Watering Hole. The rest of the trip was farley quiet except for the average antics of John, which everyone has heard already and only give him pity laughs. Finally, though, they made it to the bar, they entered and spot Zack and Mako sitting at the bar. A martini in Zack's hand, and a Hop light in Mako's hand, also Eliseo's preferred beverage.
Back at the house Quiri wandered the house occasionally returning to the living room to see the fish. She looked at everything in depth, and sniffed quiet a lot as well. After a while of this she retreated to the kitchen after her tummy getting the rumbles. She fiddled around the kitchen wondering what to eat, her ears perked. She settled for an apple and a glass of iced tea from a pitcher in the fridge, and headed for the living room. The holoscreen in the living room came to life.
"Select preference" the AI stated.
"Umm..." Quiri thought about what to watch, and she remembered how good those omelets were yesterday "Cooking" Quiri said, she wanted to learn how to cook so that maybe one day she can cook for Eliseo.
The AI automatically brought up all the food channels, Quiri chose one on dinner, and was amazed at how these chefs both human and Terran made these beautiful looking dishes. She licked her lips at the sight of them, her ears perked as the program continued.
At the bar, Eliseo and John entered the bar, and of course at the mere sight of him Zack ran over and gave Eliseo a lick, this always made John and Mako laugh. At the bar Eliseo ordered a Hop light, and John a shot of whiskey or try ten shots. As they all sat their reminiscing about the good old times.
"I envy you and Zack" John said "No wife holding you down" if there was always one thing John talked about, was how lousy his wife is. Zack cleared his throat loudly, calling attention to himself, as in his mind he and Eliseo were together.
"Well not really" Mako started "I saw Eliseo leaving the airport with a, I must say a beautiful women" he chuckled. Zack of course just laughed, their just friends he thought.
"I'm just helping her out" Eliseo said "she's a refugee from Terra"
"Hell if you don't want her, I wouldn't mind taking her for a spin" John laughed, he continued talking about Quiri this way until.
"That's enough!" Eliseo yelled as he got up and hit the bar with his fist. The whole bar was quiet and stared. Only as Eliseo sat down did the usual sound of clinks of glasses and chatter return.
"Okay, okay" John apologized "I'm sorry". Mako raised an eyebrow at this.
At the house, it was already getting late, and Quiri decided to head to sleep. She by, second nature, headed for Eliseo's room, put on one of his shirts as a night shirt, her tail slipping out from under it, and slipped into bed. The bed felt lonely, she sniffed a lot it had Eliseo's sent, but no one to hold. She longed for his presence, her tail slick back and forth from frustration of not being able to sleep, her ears were laid down on her head, as she stared at the ceiling.
Back at the bar they all finished their drinks and said good bye, Zack's hug to Eliseo was strangely longer and more in depth than before, but Eliseo paid no attention to it. John was going to catch a ride with Mako, so Eliseo headed off towards his home.
The sound of the door unlocking made Quiri jump out of the bed and run towards the front door. Just as the door opened and Eliseo came into view, she jumped into his arms and buried her muzzle in his chest. Eliseo smiled, and carried her back to his room, and there they both laid down facing each other, she stared into his eyes and he into hers. She moved in closer and they kissed, for a long time, and fell asleep together in peace.
