The Crunch of Snow
Well I've finally gotten through all of my stuff from 2020; poems, commissions and so on. Back in 2020 this was meant to be the final poem to finish off the year, one about winter and snow. Missed the end of year by a couple of hours though so this was actually originally posted January 1st 2021.
The Crunch of Snow
By: A.X. Bueno
It's finally cold enough now
The snow is here
For some it brings joy and excitement
For others it's an annoyance they want to disappear
Regardless it's still an incitement of the season and winter's presence where it appears
Personally I love the snow and the beauty I feel it brings
That thick radiant white blanket that just covers everything
But even more than its' beauty I just love the crunch of snow
That way the snow crunches underfoot just gives such a different feeling you know?
I guess it's kind of silly that something so simple brings me joy
But honestly the crunch of snow is just so satisfying now as an adult
And especially when I was a boy
The way snow cracks and crumble under my strong shoes
Seeing the indent you left behind and all the other footprints the snows accrued
It's hard to put into words why I get so excited and jubilant about the snow and it's crunch
I just love it, I love it a bunch
There's just something so magical about the snow and this time of year
That magic is accentuated by that feeling of snow crunching without even making a sound
And then the footprints that more snow will soon erase from the ground
