Miles woke up in a hospital bed. A doctor came in the room.
Doctor: Oh good, you're awake.
Miles: W-Where am i?
Doctor: You're in the Grace & Joy hospital. You've been in a coma for about a week now.
Miles: A coma? Well, what about Lena? Where is she? Is she all right?
Doctor: Oh, your friend? She's fine. She's resting in room 214.
Miles: Where's my stuff? I need to see how she is doing.
Doctor: Hold on. Before you go running around, let me scan you to see if you're okay.
Miles: Fine, but make it quick.
The doctor pushed a button on his desk. A monitor lowered from the ceiling, and a line shot out from a diode at the top that scanned Miles from head to feet. When the scan finished, data streamed across the monitor in a complex web of letters and numbers.
Doctor: Hmm... Well, you seem to be fine. I must say though, you must be incredibly ough, to go thru a coma and not even be worried about yourself. Ok, your things should be on the counter beside the bed. I'll leave you alone so you can change.
On the counter were his shirt, and pants, but also, a pair of gloves, a brown coat, and an old top hat to match.
Miles: Wait!
Doctor: Yes?
Miles: I think some one left their things here as well. These clothes... They aren't mine.
Doctor: No, those are yours. You were wearing them when you got here.
Miles: What? I've never seen these things before!
Doctor: Well, you were wearing them so we figured they were yours. Actually, come to think of it... You look kinda like this other guy who came in, the day after you did. He looked a lot like you, except his hair and clothes were white. He also went into a coma, but he woke up two days ago. He asked to see your friend Lena, as well, and left soon after.
Miles: What? He went to Lena's room?! Well, quick! How do i get there?
Doctor: It's down the hall to the right. After you see her, try going to room 523. That's the room that other young man stayed in.
Miles: Ok, I will.
Miles ran to Lena's room as fast as he could, and slammed the door open.
Miles: Lena!
Lena woke up and yawned.
Lena: Hmm? Oh! Miles! You're awake! How are you?
Miles: I'm fine, but what about you? Are you Ok?
Lena: Yes, I am. I woke up yesterday. The doctors wanted me to stay for an extra day just to be safe.
Miles: Are you sure you're Ok?
Lena: Yes. Why are you so worried?
Miles: ... No reason. Come on, we gotta go see someone.
Lena: Who?
Miles: I'll explain on the way.
They went down to the main lobby, and found a map to find room 523. Walking through the hall to the left of the map, Miles cleared his throat.
Miles: The day after we got to the hospital, another guy who looked almost exactly like me was admitted as well. He was in a coma too, but he woke up two days ago. He asked to see you, and left soon after.
Lena: What? Why would he want to see me?
Miles: That's what I'm about to find out.
Lena: Oh. So... Where'd you get the hat? Looks kind a kooky on you.
Miles: I don't know. The doctor said I was wearing it and these other clothes when we got here.
Lena reached into her pockets to reveal a pair of dark red bracelets, and a bright red bow.
Lena: They said I was wearing these when we came in, too. Just how did we get in here, anyway?
They walked past an empty room with a TV on. The news was on. A picture of the arcade was shown on the screen.
Lena: Hey! Look, the arcade! It's on the news! Let's see what it's about!
News Reporter: Here is the 1-up Arcade. During last week's thunderstorm, this arcade was struck by lightning twice, both strikes occurring within minutes of each other. The Lightning caused the building to catch fire. One civilian, living in his apartment across the street from the arcade, saw the lightning and called 911. When the fire was put out, paramedics found two young teens lying unconscious under the rubble of the crumbled arcade. The day after, they found one more person, also unconscious. Scientists are baffled, as Lightning hadn't struck anywhere except the Arcade.
Miles: That person they found must be that other guy!!
Lena: But we were the only ones in the arcade!
Miles: Let's go to his room, and see if we can find anything else about him.
They continued to room 523, and approached the Doctor, who was sitting at his desk.
Lena: Excuse me, sir?
Medic: Yes?
Miles: We have some questions about the guy who was here two days ago.
Medic: Questions? Oh, you're those other two!
Lena: Yes. Did he say anything about us? Like, why he wanted to visit me?
Medic: No, he didn't explain why. He just went in and left. Oh! But he did give me this note. He said "Give this to Miles when he wakes up." Are you miles?
Miles: Yes.
He opened the note, and read it aloud.
Miles: "Look at your new-found items. Sign in, and we shall meet soon enough".
Lena: Sign in? What does that mean?
They looked at the hat and bracelets. A blue hologram screen appeared on the hat, and a red screen appeared in front of the bracelets.
Miles: WHAT THE HELL?
He threw the hat to the ground.
Lena: Wait, look again.
The screens scrolled a message.
Screens: Now Signing in: Please place items on proper areas.
Miles put on the hat and gloves slowly, and Lena put on the bracelets and tied the bow in her hair.
The screens faded and reappeared in front of their faces.
Screens: Thank you for signing in. Welcome to Smilytime, inc.
Lena: What is "Smilytime, inc."?
